881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: “X” users are struggling as Crypto Scams in Ads,officials have no clear respons on: January 10, 2024, 08:34:06 AM
I see a lot of giveaway advertising happening and most of them want to connect to your wallets. I clicked on one of the advertisements it went to a page and asked permission to access the wallet. The page mentioned that connecting the wallet ensures that the giveaway crypto credits are the correct one. If a newbie reads it, he or she would straight away give access to his wallet. Furthermore, the advertisement campaigns are being run by blue tick ID. That makes it more convincing for anyone new on the platform who doesn't know how Bluetick can be bought on X.com. YouTube still doesn't have a policy of selling its white tick.
882  Local / Off-Topic (India) / Re: Let's Discuss About Movies and TV Shows! on: January 10, 2024, 08:00:41 AM
Recently I watched 12th Fail It has an IMDB rating of 9.2/10.

So, recently I was watching Instagram reels and found a few interesting facts about this film. It is the only Indian movie that has a rating of 9.2 on IMDb. Another interesting fact is the actress in this movie Medha Shankar sang herself in the scene where IPS Manoj Sharma and IRS Shraddha Joshi were in. Once in a while we come across such films where every the director goes in such detail.
883  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: January 10, 2024, 07:51:34 AM
The question that came to my mind was why the selectors added Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson to the team for the upcoming T20 series. Why was Ishan Kishan not selected as he is known for T20 cricket? I did a little bit of digging on Google and found this article on the same topic, Ishan Kishan "Seen Partying In Dubai": Report Explains Reason Behind Wicket-keepers T20I Absence

Quote
As per a report in Indian Express, Ishan sought exit from the Test assignment as he was mentally fatigued having constantly been on the bench. Later, he was found partying in Dubai, an act that reportedly didn't go down well with the BCCI selectors and the team management.

This is the reason why he is not part of the team and he can be ignored by the selectors for the T20 Cup. Not a mature step was taken by a professional cricketer and I was not expecting such an integrity and attitude issue by Ishan Kishan.
884  Local / Mining (India) / Re: How well people here in india knows about Mining on: January 09, 2024, 07:02:49 AM
To be honest, my knowledge on mining is low but I know what stuff is involved, how it works and how one can start mining on their own. Its just that I never wish to do that because in my calculation the cost exceeds the returns at least in this country.

Here electricity costs are big and the average temperature is hot and humid meaning a higher cooling cost too. Plus getting ASICs here means they need to come from foreign - no company makes them here from scratch.

You are correct single mining is costly due to the cost of electricity and you need to be technically sound in case of any issues. One of my friends used to mine Ethereum earlier in 2017 when ETH was not that big, the problem he always faced was continuous load shedding and he had to buy an invertor to keep the mining equipment always running. After mining for about six months he stopped because it was not profitable, he kept a few Ethereum in a cold wallet in case the price pumps which it did in December 2017. He sold everything that he had in his wallet then sold all the equipment and moved on with his life.
885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I buy BNB now? on: January 09, 2024, 06:53:07 AM
The price of BNB Coin reached a maximum of $691, which may have been the highest price in the history of BNB Coin. I agree with you that this coin may go back to its previous position when the bullrun starts in the market.

Yeah the price of BNB is still low at the moment and before the next bull run it will be a good idea to start investing in BNB. It is one of the coins which apart from the good price does give its investors a decent return if it is staked. If you stake on Binance exchange you would get a higher return on the staking value. The other good thing about staking it on Binance is that you become eligible for airdrops of new coins that will be listed on the exchange.
886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 09, 2024, 06:27:39 AM
Playing in their home ground and still struggling against Zimbabwe to win. When Janith Liyanage got out Srilanka had lost 8 wickets and were 20 odd runs short of the target. It was the tail that helped them to win the game against Zimbabwe and the worst was the bowlers were not able to get the wicket of the tail-enders. Both teams are the worst ODI team and the way Srilanka has been playing I won't be surprised if they do not qualify for the next 50 overs World Cup. They are on the path where WI cricket has gone.

887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Decred scandal? Project Founder owns more than 2M DCR coins on: January 09, 2024, 06:12:03 AM
It is normal to see those coin projects that were created to look down on Bitcoin were created with false hope. Coincidentally these coins have owners who are surrounded by scandals and scams and they are not ashamed to face the public. I have never invested in this coin or was interested but I still remember once it had a good rank on the coin market cap and now it is nowhere to be seen on the first page. Like other altcoins, this one will slowly fade away and die in the future.
888  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: January 09, 2024, 05:52:50 AM
Rohit- Kohli might not be aggressive as young players, but they have acceptable strike rate for T20, plus whenever these two are on crease, their mere presence helps the team. You remember how Virat got out in odi wc and how much under pressure Rahul came? Don't you see how in last test matches against SA where when Virat got out, and you felt now team is done.

Yes, Virat's presence does matter in Indian cricket, his presence on the ground and aggressive attitude do help. 10 years back Virat was different from what he is now in T20, he was very aggressive but now his stance is different. He will take time to settle the first couple of overs then he would continuously rotate the strike. This is a good strategy if it is a 50-over match and not a 20-over one. In T20 you only get a couple of balls to settle and if you cannot start hitting fours or sixes then you are not considered a T20 batter. RCB has never won an IPL, they will never do it unless Virat goes out of that team. The only reason he is still part of the team is his star value which the franchise knows how to cash. He is the most followed player in the history of Instagram and RCB knows how to use his followers to make money.
889  Local / India / Re: Best Topic Contest for the Indian Local Board on: January 07, 2024, 12:04:12 PM
It is good to see the contest has been extended, I have a few topics that I am planning to publish. I was not aware that this contest was in place in December, I might have missed this topic. Now that I have seen it and know the award it carries I am going to come up with some new topics from tomorrow onwards. This is the only board that has so many contests that run now and then. Lucky to be part of the Indian local board on Bitcointalk.
890  Local / India / Re: How does Indian crypto exchange survive? on: January 07, 2024, 10:48:14 AM
There was an article on the same topic that came last year in May. The article was released by Coindesk, where they spoke to employees and senior executives of 6 prominent Indian exchanges. They said that they can survive from a minimum of 21 months to 4 years and most of them are waiting for the next bull run. In the most likely case we would see the next bull run start after halving and if you want you can read that article for more information. Indian Crypto Exchanges Are in Survival Mode, Trying to Extend Their Runways
891  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: January 07, 2024, 10:37:43 AM
India VS Afghanistan 3 match T20 series will start from the 11th of this month. There is a lot of speculation on who will be captaining the team. Rohit Sharma's name is on the top and it is because SKY is injured and Hardik is also not fit. If Rohit Sharma becomes the captain then he will want Virat to be part of the team. Whereas selectors are not happy with the way Virat plays in T20 cricket as he is slow. He is suited for ODI and test cricket as per my understanding. What do you guys think will happen? Will Virat Kohli be part of the T20 team that is captained by Rohit Sharma?
892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: have anyone notice this $btcinu on: January 07, 2024, 10:32:31 AM
Honestly this is crazy. People are just coming up different shit coin projects with the mindset that they are going to attract more users and investors. I think we are going to see more of this kind of tokens in the market soon. People are now starting to mimic other great projects with a suffix using Inu to make the difference. The next bull run is going to be great because more devs are going to create more projects mimicking other projects just to follow their full steps.

When people come up with new shitcoin on regular intervals then it means a bull run is on its way. This coin is something I was expecting as the time for a spot Bitcoin ETF approval is in on the way. We will see a lot of new shitcoins coming up using the name of Bitcoin or BTC to convince newbies to invest in them as Bitcoin price won't be low after ETF approval. This nothing but utilizing the opportunity to accumulate money and getting the right hype at the right time.
893  Local / India / Re: ₹ Erupee transactions hit 1 million per day on: January 07, 2024, 10:11:07 AM
I guess their promotional logic is that if CBDC is made popular the use of crypto will reduce. But when I already have the UPI why will I use the CBDC? They are going to come up with more offers and promotions - but question is for how long they can sustain this? It will be a poorly managed ecosystem where only promos run the transactions.

That is the point why would anyone move from UPI to digital rupee? Promotion and making the mandatory requirements of its usage with employees of the bank won't help in the long term. There should be a valid reason to use it, which is not available as per my understanding.

it is also possible that they have just lied about it..? but it can be possible because this app is already got downloaded by 500k+ users on play store, that too be only by SBI bank's app.

This might be off-topic since it is related to SBI, but I am sharing it here. Recently a group of scammers were caught in a small village in Tamil Nadu. They were running a SBI bank branch, but they got caught because the villagers felt they were too polite to be employees of SBI. So, they went and reported it to the local police station and that's how these guys were caught.

The SBI app getting downloaded by 500+ users is very suspicious to me. They have one of the worst UI in apps, have you tried using the YONO app? Nothing works on that app as they claim.
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which upcoming DEX are you looking at in 2024? on: January 07, 2024, 09:44:43 AM
Uniswap and pancakeswap are the biggest DEX and so far no other DEX has been able to counter their popularity. The reason is their Blockchain ecosystem. If any other blockchain can counter the Ethereum or BSC ecosystem expansion, only we can find a new upcoming DEX getting large volume. A few DEX are available on different blockchains but do not have volumes like these two.
895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I buy BNB now? on: January 07, 2024, 09:36:04 AM
You can still buy BNB if you can afford it. If you look at the previous prices you will see that its price has increased a lot. Many trades got good profit by trading BNB is good coin to hold after Ethereum everyone is choosing BNB to invest. In the long term investors are relatively optimistic for BNB. The technical aspects are quite optimistic for the future when the attractiveness of BNB as an investment will increase.
The price of BNB have really gone high and I think it is not still a bad idea to invest,  BNB  is one of the profitable altcoins I know with a good market value,  but this time if one is going into investing it will be better to invest the amount you can afford to lose, and never to be so attracted to the increase of price which will make one to be greedy to invest a big amount of money.

It is still trading 50% below it's ATH, it is good altcoin to invest before the next bull run starts. Investing in it has certain advantages like you can stake it on Binance and get good staking reward. The other advantage is that you can get airdrops of coins or tokens that get listed on Binance. Staking can be done on Trust wallet if anyone is not happy in keeping it on an exchange wallet.

896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A kid makes millions by investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum on: January 07, 2024, 08:32:44 AM
How can a 18 year old guy be called as kid Grin. In many countries an 18 year old is considered as an adult. The title itself is deceptive and wrong. Coming back to the main story, this guy is quite good in what he is doing. He has a good future ahead. I haven't checked the cryptocurrency of him yet and the app being talked about. So, cannot comment on it's long term value, the story is inspiring.
897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to check if an altcoin is a scam on: January 07, 2024, 07:19:11 AM
What I check first is whether the token is listed on a big centralized exchange or not. If it is not then what OP wrote is the correct way to check if that altcoin is a scam. I do check the roadmap of the altcoin project to see whether there is a future or not for holding the token. As in altcoin the project being dead after a few months is considered to be a scam.

I wonder that how is binance being blamed for not adhering to AML. Making an account there clearly needs a KYC and the amount is traceable to the individual transacting. If anything, they get to keep the 1% on every transaction. Even on their P2P platform.

Though if this ban comes into affect, P2P will remain the only option. The forum could actually be a rallying point in that case.

KYC is different to AML policy, let's assume, the government wants information about a particular transaction form Binance, how will they contact Binance as they do not have an office. All their employees are scattered around the world. So, Binance need to provide a representative for any information that the government of India needs. They as in Binance is following it in Europe and the US but they are not following the same thing in India.

I don't think that these exchanges would not comply to the government request. They will as Indians are the largest users of the named international exchanges in the world.
899  Local / India / Re: Binance or Wazirx on: January 06, 2024, 07:49:33 AM
I do not use any of them due to mainly you need to pass KYC. I prefer using non KYC exchanges. There are only a few centralized exchanges left that allows trading without the need of KYC. There are many P2P exchanges where you can exchange cryptocurrency for fiat. Some of those exchanges are promoting or have promoted themselves on the forum through signature campaign.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is it a legit airdrop or not? on: January 06, 2024, 07:35:09 AM
I have never encountered this kind of airdrop before and most of the airdrops that ask for a deposit are scam. What I know is that Airdrop incurs a small fee when claiming as a transaction fee. for a beginner 0.1 BNB is very big and I think it is too risky. I suggest that you should only participate in free airdrops or don't need to pay any money.
So far, when I have participated in an airdrop, I have never been asked for any fees because how can they charge a fee when all that has been given so far is just that? Maybe I am the same as you in that this is the first time I know that there is a fee in advance, and if I ask for the value you said, it seems unreasonable because the value is quite high and may not be commensurate with the value that will be obtained. I agree. If there is an airdrop asking for anything under the pretext of a fee that must be transferred first, you can be sure it is a scam. It is better to avoid it, and it is true that many airdrops are free, and of course you cannot rely on them to pay.

That's right! Airdrop are done to engage the community not to ask them to buy to participate for the airdrop. Either OP has been scammed or the OP is a scammer promoting a scam project. I personally think OP has been scammed and has no clue that he was going to get scammed again.
