I dare you to come up with something better than Ethereum then, please enlighten us ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I concur with this point the system is too new to just throw aside presently Until I see a solution that addresses the financial system and volatility of bitcoins better and working I will consider the Ethereum project a possible outcome That said #2 the fundraiser is a totally different issue and should be noted separately

It makes it look like he purchased something and never received it. If a new person comes along, they now ARE less likely to trade with me because of that.
I guess in a sense trust while being useful does bring about a fair bit of collateral damage just because of the way it was designed in the first place

I tried selling dogecoin on ebay. The listing was up for about a week. I never made any sales, and ebay eventually deleted my listing, saying it was miscategorized (I gues I didn't put it in the "virtual" category). I saw other dogecoin sellers claim that they were selling a "penny" and that the dogecoins came along with the penny. These sellers were actually shipping a real penny to the buyers. I guess it worked for them, but seems silly.
That penny trick is just so that you can prove that you send something. In the end you are at paypal/ebays final decision, and in the past they are not very crypto friendly. Also 8-10% fees is just ridiculous for digital currency, but that is another story... Well sell them a starter set comes with a CD guide and all the things you need to know about the currency Then you can probably set a 2000-3000% premium on it I am sure there are ways that work with a higher probability than just sending coins, but I don't get why anyone would wanna do that. Just use an exchange or localbtc Well it targets the people who don't really understand crytocurrency and need the help setting up more than anything else The ones with more knowledge will usually start off on an exchange or localbtc as you pointed out

Bitcoin adoption is a marathon, not a sprint. A lot of things still have to happen before it can start really penetrating the mainstream and in the meantime, the volatility will continue. This is something you need to take at least a five year outlook on. Some people day trade and they take the short term view, but in my opinion, the winners will be the ones who stuck it out.
I agree it definitely is more about perseverance and long holding than short term Lots of people lost money in 2011 in 2012 and in 2013 and bitcoin still exists and has been growing stronger No reason to back away now

Here's a gratuitous bump from the bearish days last summer when BTC was down from 260 to about 70 for a few days. Am I the only one to think there's a pattern to be continued here? ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Nope the longer your here the less concerned you tend to become about the price but instead focus on the fundamentals so you are not alone Shake the Weak Hands

the guys that come up with these bitcoin island idea's are usually the guys that: 1. dont have the funds themselves (usually under 3BTC to their name) 2. have never bought real estate or land in their life 3. have no development skills to get water, electric, internet set up on such an island 4. will 99.999% most propably walk away with other peoples money.
instead of having some anonymous guy ask for you to "donate" to him for an island project. how about getting a island / land selling agent to accept bitcoin (a proper legal estate agent) and then people can by into that. or get richard branson to offer vacations on his island for bitcoin, with the intent(signed contract) he uses the funds to expand his island or buys a second island for community use.
only noobs would donate to a random guy on a forum that had a brainfart, but has no real experience in such a matter, nor the collateral to back up their idea
The random guy has been chosen Franky do you want to go buy the island ^_^ But I agree this topic comes up a lot at least Finshaggy has a business plan for his bitcointown and a 16 set video series lol.

I started getting into Bitcoin early this year. First coin I bought was around $800, and now its around $450. I was just wondering when it will be enough for the people around here? What is you're "sign" that you have to cash out and say goodbye?
I'm asking because I don't want to step out and walk away. Not only have I invested a lot of my savings into this technology, but I believe in the technology and the positive impacts that it can give to the whole world. There's been countless bad news since I started getting into Bitcoin, and recently, there has been a lot of good news, but the prices are still going down... I think for me, if doesn't get the right recognition/acceptance/price by the end of the year, I'm out. Probably keeping one BTC, but mostly try to get back what I spent.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to be in this for the long haul, but if I've already lost enough that it would only lead to stress and financial problems, I'll be thinking twice. Right now I still believe in Bitcoin, and it sucks that most people are ignorant and disregard this new technology, and its hurting us.
So what is it? What is you're "I'M DONE" sign?
I guess 45 dollars lol.... But probably 1800 Is enough for me to feel satisfied and get rid of a few coins

To be immortal, ouch, did i hurt your feeling? BECAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!
I am not sure is being immortal really cool - If I will had at least one immortal friend / gf with me - then it might be fun ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Otherwise, boring and sad when you look at all your friends dying. Or you can do not have any friends ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) then it will be sad too. Well being immortal you can probably become super smart and find a way to extend lifespans helps that we are in the digital age and that starts to become a feasibility heck extend their lives to 5000 years and we start getting into LOTR ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) .

OP, was it the fake blockchain site that got you?
The user has been AFK since yesterday so I guess we will need to wait for him to log in and confirm or deny that question

If you're a trader who's holding, yep you've lost a ton of money.
If you're a long term believer in bitcoin, the best thing to do is go into cold storage and just walk away for a while. There are better things to do with your life than watch short term fluctuations (I take the same approach to stocks, some of my best positions are ones I haven't touched in a few years and look at maybe once every few months.)
Honestly if your in for a year this price is still well in the green since you bought in the 90-250 range and just have been cruising the whole time Its the more recent holders that are taking risks or the older users increasing their positions at this price

Bitcoin is always a volatile asset it is as much an adoption scale as much as it is users putting money into the system Increased adoption reflects the price and volatility reflects the positions of peoples preferences over time Linking them together will take time

perhaps because one is confused, don't you think?
Is a confused face a question in itself?

for next month ritz dicreses per post count for "MEMBERS" but increases for above .. which little bit annoying for me ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Think of it like this. If Ritz pays tomorrow, other campaigns will have to rise their rates to compete, which might push these up a bit as well. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) That and if the exchange rate keeps dropping we might see consistently higher rates for a period before the price starts reestablishing itself

Honestly the news with Russia and China regarding Sanctions and world affairs against the US might make them change their policy Weird factors in play

Because the majority of people who do productive work are already hired creating jobs industries and other things and this is what is left once the innovators are doing something else That's a bit mean as a generalization but the media has been trained to have bias over the years

Personally I am joining the crowd and saying buy Bitcoins now and then maybe buy a Gen 3 Asicminer later
