8841  Other / Meta / Re: Don't you guys think it's time for LN to have it's own (sub)section now? on: April 09, 2021, 12:19:41 AM
So, yes, it makes all sense, IMO, to have a dedicated area for 2-layer solutions.

I would agree.  It should be for all 2-layer solutions though.  I don't like this idea that Lightning is somehow special and more deserving than any other scaling solution put forth by anyone else.  It should be grouped in with similar projects and not viewed as an extension of Bitcoin that is somehow more special because of what team is behind it.
8842  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk forum holding 125 BTC on: April 09, 2021, 12:15:44 AM
All theymos would have to do is take control of signature advertisements instead of having them run by campaign managers and the forum could raise a fortune.  This is just one idea, there are plenty more.  As long as we don't let this forum fall into complete disrepair or become more of a troll haven, there is plenty of value that could be unlocked in the future.  Granted it seems we have been drifting in that direction for a long time, but a couple of simple changes would be capable of righting the ship.  It's just a matter of necessity forcing change I guess, and we are a long way from this forum needing financial assistance.
8843  Economy / Economics / Re: Investment the way to economic stability on: April 09, 2021, 12:02:34 AM
From a government perspective it's actually the opposite.  Investments lead to boom and bust cycles which are anything but stable.  The government judges stability by tax receipts.  Boom and bust cycles don't have the most stabilizing effect on tax receipts.  This is why we'll see in our lifetimes a push for universal income.  This will enable the government to effectively control tax receipts, which will allow them to stabilize the economy in any way they see fit.  Sure it's horrible for things like natural selection or rewarding contributions, but government doesn't worry about such things.
8844  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When is this bull run going to be over? on: April 08, 2021, 11:58:05 PM
December 9th.

You're welcome.

 Grin

On a more serious note...  This rally is going to end in a bang, not a whimper.  I suspect the best tell of this bull market will be when the price moves up $10,000 in a day.  When people start throwing money at Bitcoin at any price without a care in the world for realistic expectations, you will see a crash.  Likely this crash will be around 80% and will have everyone commenting on Bitcoin's death again.  You would be wise to position yourself accordingly when the time comes and be patient for your reentry point.  I think one would be wise to target a $200,000 sell price, and a rebuy in the $40,000 range in late 2023.  What do I know though?  I'm just a crazy guy with a crystal ball.
8845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: April 08, 2021, 11:53:02 PM
If you are talking about the Bucks, being overthrown in the first or second round, it's pretty much boils down to experience. But not with the Nets though, Durant and Irving has the experience already and so is Harden. So I'm thinking it will not be very easy to win 4 games against this front line of Brooklyn.

I think it has more to do with play style.  The way Giannis relies on his physical attributes instead of his skills, he is very easy to shut down come playoff time.  Sure, nobody is going to put their body through the type of abuse that players like Shaq handed out during the regular season, but the playoffs is a different story.  Until Giannis learns to add more jumpshooting and passing to his arsenal, I don't see him ever being able to win a championship.  With the long term moves the Bucks are making to surround with what I would call less than ideal surroundings, I wouldn't be surprised if Giannis was forced to change teams to have a chance at a title.
8846  Economy / Securities / Re: 📈 NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: April 08, 2021, 11:28:37 PM
It sounds like since BTC has gone up in value the decision was to give the seats less BTC because it is "worth more USD" that way you could keep the majority of BTC for yourself? I could be wrong - I have not seen the books to know if 100% of the mining rewards (minus the agreed upon percentage that goes to you) has gone to the seats or not.

It's actually the opposite.  The last vote on donation % was to increase the amount given to seats.  I also don't take anything for myself from mining rewards.  They're all sent directly to NastyFans.  I buy seats and get payouts the same as everyone else.  The fact you could even think I have taken a penny for myself from this organization when I've donated hundreds of BTC to it and paid electricity out of my pocket for nearly a decade shows the level of disinformation being pushed.

The way I'm criticized for my involvement with NastyFans, I have to wonder...  Do you guys want me to just stop mining on behalf of NastyFans?  What is your goal with these attacks?  Do you want me to stop spending my time trying to raise funds for seats and move on to other projects where I'm more appreciated?  I've already made a nearly million dollar buyback offer for anyone who wants to cash in their seats at a massive profit to their issued price.  It seems like people commenting here want to push false narratives and spread lies about me and NastyFans.  What is the goal?  Is that goal for your own petty revenge because you blame Bitcoin vendors for accepting your BTC and keeping you from getting rich, or are you trying to help NastyFans members grow this organization like they got involved to do?  Maybe if I understood the motivations behind these attacks, I could help you get some sort of satisfaction other than knowing you helped me buy back a ton of seats at well below their fair value.  If there's a better way to unlock value for NastyFans members than I have been doing without expecting things from me you wouldn't expect from all NastyFans members, I'd love to hear it.
8847  Economy / Reputation / Re: ibminer’s factually false, defamatory, and reputationally scandalous statement on: April 08, 2021, 11:03:52 PM
That is egregiously dishonest on ibminer’s part.

ibminer has displayed a pattern of not accepting the consequences of his actions and blaming others for his mistakes.  He even blames BTC vendors for him not getting rich because they accepted his BTC for goods and those goods did not gain value as quickly as Bitcoin.  Who does that?  Imagine searching for someone to provide you a good and accept your currency, then when you do you make an exchange with them you praise them for accepting your currency.  However, then that currency appreciates a lot so you find that vendor and blame them for you not making money because they accepted the currency you asked them to accept.  That's ibminer.  Everything is everyone else's fault.  He didn't get rich because evil Bitcoin vendors forced him to spend his BTC.  He even once blamed me for him losing money gambling because I was wearing a signature advertisement.  People like this will always take the stance that their failure is someone else's fault.  No amount of explaining, examples, or facts can get them to take personal responsibility for their actions.  They simply cannot accept their own failure so they lash out at everyone else and try to force company for their misery.

Our S17Pro is operating at 2/3 capacity.  Last month we had a chain of ASICs become non-functional.  I've been quoted a price of $300 + parts to have it looked at and repaired, but I'm not sure if it is worth it at this point as I had been thinking about selling the unit to upgrade to S19 hardware.  We have quite a bit of funds sitting around that would make this $300 a non-issue, but I feel at this point in the Bitcoin price cycle it might be wise to just let things go as they are and wait for an opportunity to put our funds to use.

Great news!  We were able to have our non-functional board repaired free of cost by one of our fellow helpful NastyFans members!  Our S17Pro is back to mining at full capacity and I'm sure this will help resale value along with higher donations if it continues to operate normally.

S19's are in pretty high demand still.  They're currently selling for 3x the retail price and if you want to pay retail they are sold out.  If you were able to get an order in with Bitmain you would be waiting more than 6 months for delivery.  For these reasons we're still plugging away with what we have and enjoying the increased value of BTC in our savings while we wait for the right opportunity for expansion.
8849  Economy / Securities / Re: I need investor. We can start with $50 or $25! 100x return within a month! on: April 08, 2021, 10:08:40 PM

As I stated in your other thread. It would make much more sense for the investor to register the domain and have you act as a salesman who receives a commission. There’s no reason anyone should have to trust you for this operation to perform and having the investor pay fiat directly would significantly cut down on transaction fees as well as eliminate the largest hinderance, your lack of trust.
8850  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Get $15 on: April 08, 2021, 10:06:23 PM
You could also have the investor register the domain and handle the sale while you act as a salesman and receive a commission for doing so. That might actually work because people don’t have to trust you, who is a bit we’ll say shady sounding. I don’t see that as hurting your process at all and would reduce transaction costs dealing with crypto as well as have everyone playing their appropriate roles.
8851  Economy / Securities / Re: Our VC Fund wants to invest in YOUR favorite early projects. $3.5M available. on: April 08, 2021, 09:55:56 PM
1. ERC20: Fund 1 is limited to making investments in ERC20 tokens. If your project is close to TGE or post-TGE, we hope you apply for funding!

This is a Bitcoin forum. You’d likely have more success on a forum that caters to Ethereum. I don’t even think ERC20 token projects are allowed to post in this section, so you’re not likely to find much success or interest here even though you’re offering to give money.
8852  Economy / Securities / Re: 📈 NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: April 08, 2021, 09:36:36 PM
First, I do not care about your truck purchase, spare me the ego trip. And this is certainly not the same thing as taking in BTC investments for a BTC mining group which offers weekly BTC returns.

Again, I'm not talking about "any BTC project, service, or good". I'm talking about a mining organization that took investments with the intent to return weekly distributions of BTC. Thus, a "return on investment" should be measured in BTC.

You’re wrong. It’s ok that you’re wrong. I can see why you want to ignore the Tesla example as it is easier to attack me than Tesla, but you cannot say NastyFans seats have lost value without also claiming Teslas sold for BTC have also experienced the same massive loss of value. It’s an idiotic stance to take in real world practice, and it is no different here. I feel like I owe it to people to say that if you try to claim a loss on the purchase of seats while they have gained value then you will likely run into problems with your government and personal finances. It is beyond irresponsible to push the loss of value false narrative for that reason and your incorrect comments could potentially be damaging to those who believe them. It is quite obvious you are in the wrong here and I would like to request you make your own thread to push your false narratives.

Price of Cybertruck when ordered: 6.59229 BTC
Current price of my Cybertruck:

“Tesla is scamming! Look what they’ve done to my BTC investment! Elon Musk is a scammer!”

Yup, you sound that stupid...

I added this to the OP.  Fun to see the price of Cybertruck fall so much in BTC terms so quickly.  Could you imagine what this forum's reaction would be if Elon posted here?
"Tesla is a scam!  Elon Musk isn't being honest about the value decline of his vehicles!"  LOL

More seriously, this is a very good example of why things cannot be priced over time in BTC terms.  The price change is 100% a reflection of Bitcoin's exchange rate movement and nothing to do with the underlying asset, in this case the Tesla Cybertruck which has only become more valuable over this price period.

I posted this in my Tesla thread but it seems appropriate as a response here. Claiming you’ve lost money because something you purchased didn’t rise in value as much as BTC is not only wrong, it’s an attack you could make against any BTC project, service, or good, and doing so makes you an enemy to anyone engaging in any of those activities (e.g. anyone who actually uses Bitcoin). Literally everything in the world “lost value” measured in BTC. Using that as a way to attack this project is not only dishonest, it’s an insult to people who understand basic finance and an attack on all those that actually accept Bitcoin.
8854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: April 08, 2021, 02:31:42 AM
Net's too good for for the Pelicans, the lead balloon to 30 points. Impressive game from Durant and then Kyrie and surprisingly Aldridge doing the damage. It seems that LaMarcus will be the big difference for the Nets now, as he can post and still play the Center position and be dominant.

The Nets are looking too good for anyone... I think when healthy this will be the best team in NBA history. I wasn’t expecting Blake Griffin to look so good and Aldridge obviously has a lot left in the tank as well. KD and Harden are 2 of the best 5 players on the planet and Kyrie isn’t too far behind. I think if they all stay healthy they will win the championship and it won’t even be close.
8855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone thought about a Bitcoin Coinstar machine? on: April 08, 2021, 02:06:26 AM
This just popped into my head today as I was visiting my (semi) local bitcoin ATM after seeing a Coinstar machine at my (truly) local grocery store. ...

Do you mean like this?

https://www.coinstar.com/bitcoin

I was confused by this also. He literally posted a picture of the machine that already exists... People realize this is something that’s in grocery stores all across the nation right now right? I haven’t personally used one but I know of people who have. I don’t know the numbers but I assume they’re pretty popular.
8856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: April 08, 2021, 12:24:17 AM
I’m watching the Nets vs Pelicans game and Durant is dressed and ready to play. They’re saying he may get his first minutes since his injury tonight. It’ll be nice to see him back in action. In the meantime Zion is looking to break a record set by Shaquille O’Neal if he can get 20 points on >50% from the field.

Also, Blake Griffin can still dunk and it’s insane people thought he was done...
8857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla now accepts Bitcoin on: April 07, 2021, 08:01:21 PM
Would I be able to theoretically pay for Tesla using my ownr wallet or their crypto card? Or using a Binance account? I don't quite understand.

I would imagine that any method of sending BTC would work just fine so long as it shows up in the blockchain.  I can confirm this once I make payment for my Tesla, but I don't see why they would require anything other than you sending BTC to an address they provide like every other Bitcoin transaction in the history of retail crypto sales.

I don't understand what you don't understand.  Someone accepts BTC, you send them BTC.  Where it comes from would seem to be a moot factor so long as it isn't stolen BTC.

Yall playing small.Just watch me go from 1 cent to one million, it will happen right before your eyes.

You might be surprised to learn that most of the people on this forum would attack you if they saw you get rich, not congratulate you.  The internet as a whole, and possibly more concentrated on this site are what the kids would call "haters."  I prefer to think of them like crabs in a bucket.  The old saying is that if you put a crab in a bucket, it will climb out.  However, if you fill the bucket with crabs then they will constantly pull each other down and none of them will escape.  This forum is very similar.  If people think you're having success and they aren't, they will grab on and try to pull you down into misery with them with some ill concocted effort to elevate themselves.

Perhaps Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. said it best, "Real G's move in silence like lasagna."
8859  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Sell me a GTX 1080 ti on: April 07, 2021, 07:20:40 PM
I have liquid cooled and regular 1080ti’s I would consider selling for the right price. By right price I mean a desperate buyer willing to pay way above sane prices. These things are making decent money still, so any GPU will cost an arm and a leg at the moment.
8860  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] My Casascius Collection on: April 07, 2021, 03:39:29 AM
May I ask how much time did you "invested" in gathering up all this coins? How did this "mission" came to your mind? Was it something that you supported right from the start, or the notion of having a physical coin of BTC was too much to pass on?

I kept my eye out for listings in the early years. The only coins I found difficult to get my hands on were the s2 2011 1 BTC brass coin and the 1000 BTC gold coin.

I didn’t set out to collect them all at first. I liked the idea of them so I purchased one of the originals with the error. Then I liked the silver ones so I bought them. At that point it just seemed like I might as well complete the collection so I slowly grabbed the rest. If I had more time before BTC got ridiculously expensive I probably would have purchased the 5 & 25 BTC rounds as well.

I had long wanted to make my own silver coin and when I discovered BTC one of the first things I did was reach out to Gavin Andresen for advice on a coin I wanted to make. He didn’t seem to like the idea because it wasn’t tied to any actual Bitcoin  (several years later I made them anyway, my Bitcoin binary rounds). Casascius coins seemed to solve that problem of not being tied to Bitcoin but ran into a different issue with selling loaded coins that needed to be solved. Nevertheless, I wanted to own what I considered to be a great innovation on the idea of a coin and so I did.
