In the light of the recent news and incidents, I feel the need for an open exchange. Where our btc is safe and that we 100% sure they are safe. No problems with btc withdrawals whatsoever.
I want to develop such an exchange but do not know how to go about it. If those with ideas and input would show me the way I believe I have the necessary drive and connections to accomplish this.
The exchange must be transparent, meaning publicly auditable. Secure from hackers and bad intentions. A place where 2 parties can trade fiat and crypto or securities between each other securely.
How would one go about this? Especially the open part? How can an exchange be trustworthy?

Sounds like good idea, but do you have knowledge needed to develop it, manage it, and secure it? Or how much bitcoins do you have and how much you want to pay people to do this? |

No. I don't think it would out-price BTC. It's just something I'd like to see. For humorous purposes. I think Karpeles has much more meme-power than Doge. With mtgox gone, who in your opinion can be trusted with your precious coins? Bit finex, btce, bit stamp etc.?
I am using: Vircurex, Bitcurex and Bter I never had any problems with them and prices are ok. Withdraws in a minute and deposits after 4 confirmations (Vircurex) and in two months you'll be whining how one of those three took all your coins not really. They changed withdraw systems after all of those DDoS. And during attacks they did not suffer any lags for even a while ;P I do not keep there a lot of coins anyway. But for now I did better thing when sing up to those then if I would did signup to MtGox isn't (or BitStamp) ? |

I accidental sent a transaction of 1btc without a fee (blockchain.info don't automatically apply a fee and i didn't know) and it took a few days for real? Few days? Seems interesting |

One of the methods: 1. back up both wallets from qt and armory (I hope you know how to do backup) (export private keys) 2. delete blockchain from %AppData% folder. (1) Make sure Armory is closed. If you run Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoind yourself, close that as well.
(2) You need to find the Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoind home directory in your file browser. It can be found:
Windows: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin
Linux: /home/<username>/.bitcoin
MacOSX: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin
(3) Within that directory, remove all files and folders EXCEPT wallet.dat. The only file remaining should be wallet.dat!
(4a) If you don’t run Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoin manually (or don’t know what I’m talking about), just start Armory. It will run bitcoind in the background, which will resynchronize with the network (4 to 48 hours depending on your connection).
(4b) If you run Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoind manually, restart it. Wait for it to finish synchronizing with the network (4-48 hours depending on your connection). A green checkmark will appear in the bottom-right corner when it’s done. Then start Armory.
3. BUT before you do point "4b" download NEWEST versions of both qt and armory https://bitcoin.org/bin/0.8.6https://s3.amazonaws.com/bitcoinarmory-releases/armory_0.90-beta_winAll.exe4. Import private keys after SYNCHRONIZING (point 4b) |

Of course, the cause could also simply be that they are retards and their system simply sent the 2nd transaction after it 'thought' the first one failed ... so there was no fraud/theft, it was simply a crap system sending BTC to people multiple times.

I think Mt Gox got their customers coins and they want to blame hackers for this. ------------------- Mt.
