8941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PURPOSE OF TOKEN? on: May 11, 2018, 04:20:15 AM
Hi guys, this just bother me long time ago, and just popped up recently..

What is the purpose of token?

I can not figure it out because I have one token before and I did not know how to use it and I can not even transfer it to bitcoin. I am just wondering why people keep inventing and creating so much token at all.
I hope I can get POSITIVE response and not some hates and negative one.

Thank you.

Its just simply a representation or like a give to you by the ICO project. So if it represents them then obviously it can be traded. You can transfer it to bitcoin very easy as their are token/bitcoin pairing in any exchange as far as I know.

Actually having different tokens from different company are really has a purpose. Any company will do issue their token name because they wanted to be much popular and familiarizing in the market. The token serves them as a promotional strategy to  easily recognizing their projects. Definitely different tokens has a different value in the market. Mostly campaign are giving their free token thru airdrops but there is a fact that it could be hastle for us because we need to wait for the exchanger before we can convert it to the currency that they want.

Well it could be promotional material, but most of the time those tokens have real life value specially if the project is really solid because investors will flock and purchase their tokens.

In fact, so many advantages of making tokens. well, many people make their own tokens, because they know, when a lot of people buy their tokens, the more profit they will make. well, the purpose of the token they make is different, so from that, they focus their token function on the product they have, to make things easier, or something else. so, users who are interested in their products, must have the type of token they have.

Exactly, the more investors they attract to purchase their tokens, the more the project look solid and legit resulting in the price getting pump all the way up. There are a lot of tokens sub $1 dollar but there are tokens that price above $10.

BTC almost break 10k now what will be next ?
It seems you got your answer already, bitcoin was close to breaking the barrier of 10000 but at the end the bears won the battle and now the price is going down, it seems that many people thought that bitcoin will be unable to surpass the price and they sold before that happened this in turn created a greater supply of bitcoin and this had the effect of decreasing the price.

Well that one scenario also possible, because $10000 is big mental barrier for most trader. Who wouldn't want to get a quick profit by selling at that price? specially who are shorting bitcoin in the last 3 months. And right now the downtrend still continues as I see that the price goes below $9000 again, a indication that there might be clearly manipulating from behind and don't want the price to go above $10000 or another bad news going on our way. For now, I think that we are on another uphill battle and will continue to struggle to be able to get to 5 digit mark. The good news is that this is another good buying point for all of us if the price continues to go down in the next couple of hours.
8943  Economy / Marketplace / Re: my friend have my user and password and my passport scan on: May 11, 2018, 04:05:46 AM
:)please answer if you have enough information about bittrex site....thanks Smiley

One of my friend in other country have my user and password in bittrex and have my scan of passport too, but she has't my email password that i sign up with it in bittrex. so can she withdraw with any method my balances in this bittrex account or not?

I think the answer is "no" but i want to be sure and maybe with some method she can?

I'm totally confused as why your friend from another part of the globe has you scan passport and credentials to begin with? That's one of the dumbest thing I have heard for such a long time. Hmmm. Very weird. I think the question has been answered already, but I just wanted to reiterate that you shouldn't trust anyone specially everything that involves money. And that is your freaking scan passport dude, worst case scenario is that it can get into the dark web and your personal information can be sold there. Just be very very careful who you trust.
8944  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-13] Yahoo! Japan Confirms Entrance Into the Crypto Space on: May 11, 2018, 03:49:24 AM

I am really amazed that while small players can be displaying discouraging attitude towards cryptocurrency, there are big players like Yahoo Japan who are stamping their faith and confidence on this new and fledgling industry. This news should be serving us a big supply of inspiration that cryptocurrency is here to stay and soon can be experiencing a golden age towards slowly maturing.

Its because big players has a more to gain if they jump on the bandwagon early and be sure to profit huge in the next couple of years as we all know that crypto can't be really stop and its very important to them to get in early. Yeah, this should set more precedence, as I'm expecting another house hold name who don't want to be left out to soon enter the picture before the end of the year. I think the golden age has started last year with bitcoin almost touch $20,000, and this is just a continuation of a bright future ahead of us.
8945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is the Fastest of 'em all? on: May 11, 2018, 03:44:50 AM
With ETH I never had to wait more than 2-3 minutes to complete a transaction. Heard a Lot of good words about the speed and recently tried LTC. Took 19 mins to complete my first transaction  Undecided Tron and NEO founders promise lightning speed, never tried yet. Some guy from this forum just claimed DigiByte transfers to complete in seconds.
I am puzzled. I really need a faster coin that charges Lowest tx fees to HODL as well as to use regularly. Share your favorite coins that you personally experienced/used. How Long does it take to complete a transaction and how much is the fee.  Roll Eyes

You are lucky to get ETH at 2-3 minutes because the last time I used, it took me more than 10 minutes to deposit my coins to a trading platform. I also have tried LTC and DOGE and its not as quick as well. So from my experience I will say Bitcoin but it's still based on how much fee you want to pay to get instant deposit/withdrawal. Remember though that once a coins gain popularity, no matter how fast they claim to be, once the network is congested and clogged, those promise of quick payment will be thrown out of the window.
8946  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-05] ‘Big Bitcoin Heist’ Suspect Regrets Fleeing Iceland after Jailbreak on: May 09, 2018, 12:07:42 PM
I think I'd regret fleeing too if I got caught. It's not a crime to escape from prison in Iceland? Good to know.

Yeah I had to do a double take on that. Pretty ridiculous, but hey, it seems to work.

But yeah, I hope he talks. It would be interesting if the stolen equipment ends up on a farm somewhere. If they acquired such a large stash, it's likely they sold in bulk. I acknowledge that that doesn't rule out resellers and distributors and such, but this case would be way more interesting if there were a conspiracy involved.

I agree. It would be interesting as how he dispose those hardware gear. Who bought it from him? Is he into something like a gang who targets everything related to crypto? Who are the people involved? How many? There are so many questions that needs to be answer, and damn that escape? Just wow. He may be a Legend soon in the cryptoverse. LOL. I also surprised that escaping in prison is not a crime in Iceland? That ridiculous specially for American. Maybe that's one factor why Iceland has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.

I try to check and look for updates regarding this heist and there was one article circulating that the stolen hardware might be in China.

Quote
peculations want the stolen goods to be located in China, as local authorities have recently confiscated 600 servers from a “suspicious” mining facility. Taijin authorities located the mining plant, after being notified by the local electrical-grid operator, about an unregistered unknown plant that uses an extraordinary amount of electricity.

http://technewsleader.com/2018/05/08/stolen-icelandic-bitcoin-btc-mining-gear-might-be-found-in-china/

If the news is true, its interesting how the machine was able to get out of Iceland and found on the other corner of the globe. The drama deeper as authorities in both countries are still investigating further. If they can really see missing link between Iceland and China, then someone should be put to jail to send message across criminals trying to pull the same job.

Having a dedicated news channel 24 * 7 will be something unique in my opinion.. ofcourse, better too
24 hours news channel? Then for sure headlines or news would really be mostly on non necessary ones either might be not a good quality. Its much better to be on weekly basis and having a very detailed and precise kind of news when it comes to cryptocurrency matters.I do see this timeframe would make a preparation on giving such news rather than on daily basis 24/7 would really be hard.

Yes, I don't like to see 24/7 news that is crappy and full of crap. A weekly basis will be a perfect it because you can have at least chosen good subject to begin it. Like the capture of the guy who stole the bitcoin mining hardware in Iceland. I'm sure it will be epic if you can cover that kind of news. But having a dedicated channel like MTV? Nah, there will be not enough news and for sure you will just keep repeating yourself if that the way to wanted to go.
8948  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is taking a breath on: May 09, 2018, 11:08:00 AM
The crypto-currencies showcase is grabbing a seat today after a solid run-up. Bitcoin is holding in the $9,300 territory at mid-morning subsequent to ascending as high as $9,500. The subtle $10,000 hindrance is in locate, however the walk towards it continues getting slowed down by anxious speculator pullbacks.

Thing is that we don't know whether bitcoin is going to be able to reach the 5 figure mark during this bull run, or not. If it does, then there is a possibility that bitcoin is able to go up further in the 5 figure range. But the selling pressure at that point is just so strong that we haven't been able to break the resistance, despite multiple tries.

There are no guarantees that bitcoin is going to go down near the previous lows saw in January temporarily, but I think it's likely if we're not able to reach 5 figures during this bull run.

Markets are just not ready to take the next step into a fully bullish market, I don't think. We're still settling down/consolidating from the previous bull market, however you want to call it.
Bitcoin is on the way up and people are investment in high volume because they realize that it is the last chance of having the price below $10k. They will never find such a low price for their investment. 2018 is the year of bitcoin and many people think that the price will be more than $20k till the end of this year. Now it is on the way upwards.

However, 2018 is different in my opinion. Bitcoin has been acknowledge by a lot of governments now, From Europe to Asia to Africa, Government started to notice its potential to affect their nation, either positive or negative that's why we see countries heavily regulating it today more than ever. As for the $10000 walk, again we almost did it last week, But we have been pulled back again momentarily. This is the second time that we have attempted to break that 5 digit mark, both unsuccessful. I don't expect it to make a run this week, because we even slide further today at $9100. But at the back of our minds, we all know that we can get to it, just waiting for the right timing so that we can finally get it. Maybe before the end of the month, bitcoin will be worth $10000. And we all call breathe and sleep tight.  Grin
8949  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Busted: Britain Confiscates $700,000 in Bitcoin from Hacker on: May 09, 2018, 10:52:15 AM
Similar case was in Romania when government seized 3.000.000.000$ worth of Bitcoin at the time.

Don't know if they decided what to do with it, but auction seems like good idea.

Probably you are talking about Bulgaria here. But up to this day, the mystery remains if they do really have in the possession those bitcoins seized from criminals.

Its possible that they hold an auction to sell those coins to the highest bidder, didnt get the Mt. Gox coins distributed that way?

Gox is far from done yet. Auctions are the customary method of getting rid of the proceeds of evil.

As the article mentions it looks like the first time British authorities have wound up with some coins. It'll be interesting to see how they handle it. Hopefully they'll be so disgusted at the options in the UK for converting it they'll crack on with opening up the possibilities for a decent exchange for once.

Japan and the US usually auctions tainted bitcoin. I wouldn't be surprise if the British authorities will do the same.

Obviously, the British authorities has nothing to debunked regarding Bitcoin's anonymity, according the article. Because we all know that bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous and everything can be traced in Blockchain. However, this is really  a good news for the cryptoworld and I hope that this will send a message to those who are thinking of getting their hands on hacking activity. Sooner or later authorities will get their hands on you and your face plastered all over the Internet.
8950  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I safe ? on: May 09, 2018, 10:40:17 AM
I guess it is safe now because you already make the 2FA, you do not need to change your password I think.
Anyway, make sure that you make an account to some site do not include any words that you use in password because hacker might use all info that they might see there.

To be in the safe side, I would rather change everything related to that account, because we all know that hackers is really one step ahead of us. I wouldn't mind doing everything in my power not to give any advantage to them. As @Lucius have shared, 2FA can really be breached, which is very scary to all of us. The OP is just lucky that he doesn't have any funds deposited on that account, otherwise it will be wipe out in a snap of a finger.
8951  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Digital Currency Take Over on: May 09, 2018, 09:45:39 AM
As we can see now everyone/every developed nation is moving towards digital currency. In your opinion how much time is required for digital currency to take over the current/existing market or it is impossible that digitisation will never be successful. If yes what are those factors ? In my opinion those countries which are not accepting digital currency, are doing wrong. They are only thinking about the tax. They are saying that we will not get any tax and digital currencies are fake. Fraud is very easy in digital world (that is true but it also happen in every market). Although when someone is doing business in digital currency then that person is bringing money to country that is beneficial for the country...

Hard to say how much time is needed if digital currency will take over the current market. There are nation who is not fully developed like certain countries in Africa or even in Asia, so it will take a lot of time to even acknowledge digital currencies in those countries. But if we are taking about some European country, there are a lot of them experimenting cashless society so the rate of adoption must be pretty quick.
8952  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Bitcoin affect world trade? on: May 09, 2018, 09:36:38 AM
Is there a role for Bitcoin in international trade? Have you heard of a trade between two countries?
And will it be in the future?

No, I haven't heard bitcoin being involved and traded by two countries. But maybe we can see that in the future though. Take for example Japan or South Korea, they have the biggest market so far so its possible that they can used bitcoin to do international trade, specially along the Asian region. Imagine that kind of scenario, I mean what will be the price of bitcoin that time? Will it bring this kind of trade significant impact of the price? Remains to be seen.
8953  Economy / Speculation / Re: Japanese run the BTC price! on: May 09, 2018, 08:24:50 AM
The only exchanges that matter are GDAX, Bitfinex, Gemini and Bitstamp. All foreign trading volumes do contribute somewhat, but they mainly affect their own market. I remember when South Korean exchanges were trading $5000 above western exchanges, which is beyond insane, but the western markets didn't give one single damn. Later on South Korean premiums vanished and became just a few hundred instead of thousands -- this perfectly indicates that continents have different demand standards and don't necessarily steer the other side up or down with it. That's the benefit of having different exchanges all operating different order books. Smiley

Totally agree. We have witness South Korea exchanges at a premium high but it didn't significantly affected the price globally. Although Japan has a huge chunk of trading volumes, I think its not enough to offset the Western exchanges to really bring a dent of the price (positive or negative). The price is going on another minor correction, but I do think that it has nothing to do with the Japanese market though.

I was thinking before that Chinese run the market and that is why news from that region do affects bitcoin in the most negative or positive ways.  Japanese also have some influence but I don't think that they control the market as there are many factors that determine price.

Chinese case is different. They are faking the volumes and manipulating the price until PBoC caught them.
8954  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-08] Billionaire Mike Novogratz Says ‘Bitcoin Core is BTC’ on: May 09, 2018, 08:15:39 AM
You cannot blame people like Roger Ver and his fanboys, when they resort to playground tactics like this, they executed a plan to misrepresent Bitcoin Cash as the original Bitcoin and then people from Bitcoin <BTC> started to sabotage that tactic, by calling it BCash. Their whole tactic is focussed around the name and the domains they hijacked to execute this hostile takeover from Bitcoin.

But I don't think that their tactic will really works because as more people realized that they have been tricked by Roger, sooner or later they will dumped Bitcoin Cash and go to Bitcoin. However, you can really see those people behind Bitcoin Cash trying their best to manipulate not only the market but the people itself. What a lowlife.

When people started to mess with the name, by calling it BCash and effectively nullifying the tactic to confuse people, then Roger Ver and his fan club, decided to rename Bitcoin <BTC> too. This is just grownup people acting like children. <Name calling and Tit for Tat>  Roll Eyes

Oh well, when money is involved, I mean huge amount of money, everyone will do everything and think of ways to eliminate their competition just like Roger and his cohorts are doing. But then again, I would be surprised if those attempts will failed a hundred times. LOL.
8955  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin & College students . on: May 09, 2018, 08:09:07 AM
I believe that a huge portion of the the crypto community are still young college students that don't have any necessities that need another source of income aside from their scholarships / the money they are getting from their parents .

Yeah, probably is. But we don't know that exact figures as to how many colleges students are here in the community. But its good to hear that it helps them a lot financially specially that they have something to get from their wallet for tuitions fees.

And apart from spending their cryptos on either betting or purchasing goods/video games from online markets , many of these students didn't make plans for what they'll do with their coins in the future.
I myself have had many thoughts about hodling and launching a business as soon as i graduate with the coins in my possession , yet i'm not exactly sure what i'll be doing ..
So i'm really curious about :
- On what do you spend your coins apart than partying/gambling/paying for tuition loans ?
- Do you have any future plans for your coins if you are hodling any ?

I'm no longer a college student but I will advise that you guys save for the future. Yes, you are getting good money from crypto today and have extra for purchasing items you really like, however, it doesn't mean that crypto will sustain your lifestyle like this forever. You need to look at the future and not just rely on crypto itself. Yes, a business will be a good start and get stick and focus on your goals and I'm sure that you are going to achieve it one day.
8956  Economy / Speculation / Re: we're pumpin right now on: May 08, 2018, 03:48:28 PM
Just hit $9700. Up >6% last 24 hours. Will we see $10k in the next 24 hours?
Well thats not the really meant don't expect too much as we can see the price still in the range of 9000 dollars maybe by the end of the month or by the mid of this year read those article and news about crypto currencies there will be changes because of some countries banned bitcoin because of some reason it won't affect that big it will totally hit 2-3 percentage of the market.

Everyone is really jumping for joy when they see the price almost touch $10000 in the last couple of days. But unfortunately, there was a minor dip and we are back to $9100. That's why I always says that we shouldn't get excited, we will get there eventually, but putting to much expectation and then it wasn't meet will put too much emotional stress on you. Just go with the flow because sooner or later we will get touch and even go higher than the elusive $10000 mark.
8957  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [07-04-2018] Cryptocurrency will come to Bad Endings, Says Warren Buffet on: May 08, 2018, 03:39:39 PM
Hmm. I'm just wondering why are this 2 old farts attacking bitcoin lately? What do they have to gain spreading FUD now? When we are about to make a break out, another FUD comes along, and I was surprised by the timing of the interview by CNBC, I guess this media outlet are against crypto, because its looks like they have spin something out of context interviewing this 2 billionaires and they have like putting words into the mouth of Warren B. and Bill Gates. Are they really afraid that stock or even gold investors are moving to crypto now?
8958  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Stay away from lawyers of ICObox! on: May 08, 2018, 03:17:57 PM
I can't believe your client could pay that amount of money in BTC without even knowing the basic rule in his own country showed that he is not unserious about what he intends to do. A country that have taken a position on bitcoin and its related activities should not be to hard to see on the internet. Google would have helped out without stress but he chose not to go thorough that. Not only did he stopped there but didn't take time to verify the people he is dealing with and they took advantage of his laziness to an extreme level. But since this is scam accusation, shouldn't it be in the reputation section of the forum.

Maybe that's why they hire lawyers. Unfortunately, the advises given is too shallow because everyone involved in the cryptoverse already know such limitations, and even a jr. member or a member rank knows that. I really don't know how can they themselves be a lawyer in this industry when their knowledge is so limited. And damn, what a fee this guys are asking. LOL. I never heard of this ICOBox though, probably they are not really lawyers, but running a scam here. They can just get that 16 BTC and exit immediately, resurface again with different name.

Yes it was .09 btc not the issue I've checked it 20 times believe me it is not on my end it is on their end I withdrew from their site about 5 or 6 times they are unresponsive for the support tickets I opened and I have my btc stuck on their site for almost a whole week now. This is not good business on their part, horrible customer service and unreliable site.

Looks like you are now a part of those people who have a bad experienced using these exchange. Like any others here, I don't have any problem with HitBTC but it doesn't that they are good as there are already lots of complaints about them on which some of it are still unresolved.

Asking if HitBTC is a scam can't be answered by yes or no because all in all, the answer will based on users preference. No one can help you here as the only one who can help you is HitBTC itself so no choice but to deal with their poor customer service.

Im just hope you will get back your funds and stop using these exchange now even your tokens are being traded here or faced the risks.

Right. So far I didn't encountered any issues withdrawing my funds on them. Actually I still have .07 BTC deposit but I'm doing some trades so I haven't got the chance to withdraw it. So I can't say they are scam because no issues for me so far. However, there are a lot of threads related to the it:

do you think positive and negative issues about cryptocurency on the internet will affect the rise and fall of the price of cryptocurency. therefore I have an opinion, what if we make a positive issue about cryptocurency that may make or affect the rise and fall of the market price of cryptocurency and here we are in a very big community, isn't that likely to affect globally ?
and how do you think about it ?, I want to see opinions from your side of perspective
 Thank you for your concern

We, ordinary people, can not positively influence the cost. It can be big players - states, banks, creators and others. For example, if the US says that crypto currency is banned - then the cost will fall. And we can influence the cost only through demand - more demand, more price.

I don't think that even us casuals can't positively affect the price. Of course every trader who bought and sell coins has impact also its just minimal as compare to big players and whales around.

I think yes, bad news on cryptocurrency and bitcoin will makes the bitcoin price and the market going down. For example like facebook and google that banned paid ads about crypto, when it happened, the price goes down. If its a good news, a positive result will come and makes the market goes up.
On this kind of market i do always see that fundamentals would really have a big effect into this market specially on decentralized cryptocurrencies which it is already expected that every news neither positive or negative ones would really make effect on price movements thats why most traders or investors would keep an eye with fundamentals together with some technical which will really give some advantage on profiting this volatile market.

Of course any news will have a impact on the price because its based on pure speculation. So every positive and negative news bring emotions to traders, whether to dump or just hold. That's why we always need to be attentive and be updated on any news can comes our way, we don't want any negatives to come our way, but we can't really put a stop on it because its like a norm today specially if we are having a good rally. So we need to be careful as to what news we are reading, might be fake news but then you make the decision to offload your coins.
