I wish there were a couple of secure online Litecoin wallets available.  I'm always hoping my computer won't crash and I'll lose my Litecoin client.  I'm not really sure how to back up properly.  Am I suppose to back-up the wallet each time a transaction is made?  Should I send the backup file to an external drive or email a copy of the file to myself?  I'm sorry to go so off-topic.  I really have know idea of what will be the next big crypto currency.  I'm trying to hold some coins of many types  (as a high-risk fun investment) to play it safe.

You don't need to back it up with every transaction, the transactions are kept in the block chain.  Just save your wallet.dat file (name it something you'll remember) someplace it will be safe!

Can't see Terracoin taking off - difficulty scaling is retarded.

Did they ever fix that?

I personally imagine that litecoin will be the next big cryptocurrency, atleast for GPU miners. As the ASICs ship out the difficulty will soar and miners using GPUs will move on, likely to the next biggest cryptocurrency, being litecoin. Although, people with FPGAs will be unable to mine litecoin due to the fact that it uses scrypt and as a result it is likely that, if they wish to continue mining, they will move their miners onto one of the other SHA-256 based cryptocurrencies, such as PPCoin and Terracoin.

Based on that.. one should take their GPU farm there before the asics come as you already did that... Smiley

That's a grand idea and a solid point.  I've been mining LTC 100% for a few months now, waiting for the big boys to show up....

I think that it would be something (maybe does not exist yet), that allows people with higher-end laptops to be able to use it... and make a profit. I think bit coins popularity with the average person will begin to die out as they find out that there computers have no hope with competing the terahash/s machines that are starting to be created. With machines like this, I believe bit coin mining will become unenjoyable for the average person.

But the point here isn't really what most enjoyable/profitable to mine, it's really what CC can find widespread adoption in mass markets.  BTC/LTC make sense to me in that regard (LTC more than BTC, but that's a technicality in my opinion), but I can't decide on a third.  Do we even need a third?

I reckon bitcoins will always be number 1, litecoins will take off next and then terracoins.

Why Terracoins?

0.008BTC a week would take like 3 years to get your initial investment of 1.2BTC back...

Aren't dividends based on profits?

Yes.  Even in the world of virtual currency, they are based on profits.  Each asset posts a contract that clearly states how divs are paid, and most are pretty transparent about how they do business.  Like any investment, however, there's always risk involved.

I think it's hidden, but seeing the email icon there freaks me out....

I've got the setting to hide my email address, but it appears (at least to me) to be visible.  Can you people see it?

You can also get in a little cheaper with mining co-ops on https://www.litecoinglobal.com/

I've dropped some LTC into a few of the securities there and have been happy with the return.

I have some LiteCoins lying around. Could you explain this to me? I may be able to join up!

It's easy enough.  You create your LTC-Global account, move your LTC into the wallet the site generates, then purchase securities based on how you feel they will preform in the future.  Most pay a dividend--check out the history on each one and see.

To buy at market price, you click the "fill" button under the Sell column of an asset--you can also place a buy "bid" to offer to buy the asset at below market price.  if enough people want to sell, they'll buy your bid and you'll have shares.  Buying at market is more expensive but immediate, waiting for a bid to complete will get your a lower cost, but will take more patients.

Is there anything similar for BTC (not for LTC)?

The site OP mentioned is for BTC.

3 million coins in the first 24 hours..?

Did they not announce it before they started mining?  I was under the impression they did, although I may be wrong.

I'e switched my LTC boxes to FC for the weekend.  I'll grab a few hundred coins and move back to LTC on Monday--if they turn into something, great.  If not, I won't lose sleep over it.
915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who here regrets not ordering a BFL unit? on: April 27, 2013, 03:54:55 AM
So due to recent videos of one user's demo/pre-release video of a single...who here are starting to change their mind about ordering from BFL?

A better question would be , "Do you regret not purchasing an Avalon instead of dealing with BFL".  I could answer that one in a heartbeat!

This.  Got my BFL refund long time ago and made back the loss by trading.  I hate trading but I would hate waiting for "soon" even more.

I did the same thing.  Got my refund on my single last week.  May regret it, but feeling better about it every day.

Any way to get your original deposit out or one time fee for all future dividends?

LTC-Global reserves a 0.1 LTC fee on withdrawl, but it's much like an exchange aside from that--the proceeds of your sales go to your site wallet, and you move them off from there.  There is a 0.2% transaction fee when you buy/sell, although the dividends aren't charged, IIRC.
917  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: n00b to mining, would like some opinion and thought. on: April 27, 2013, 12:04:22 AM
You may try 'Feathercoin' this week, it's the alt-coin that's all the rage.  It's got a low difficulty (currently) and you can CPU mine on it for a while and make some coins.  It would be a good starting point to learn the ropes.  Google 'Feathercoin' and checkup on the thread in this forum.
