903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / cgminer questions (help me understand) on: April 16, 2013, 05:56:39 PM
Hello,

I`ve been reading tens and tens of pages but some things are not explained that good. So maybe someone can help me make sens of them:
I`m mining Litecoin btw...

1. When you use --thread-concurrency do you also need to use --shaders? Do one exclude the other?
2. the -g 1 at the end, i`ve seen some configs with -g 2... What are the requirements... or is it more trial and error/
3. When setting --gpu-fan xxx, the setting does not always take. What are the requirements for it to take?
4. How on earth do you run 2 instances of cgminer if you have different class cards in the rig?
5. In the consolidated mining thread there is this reference:
"Set thread_concurrency to somewhere slightly below 64 * bus_width_of_card_in_bits.  So, for a 7950, that would be 64 * 384 = 24576; ideal values are 21712 or 24000"
If that is true then why do some of my sapphires only work with 16384.. anything more gives me a -5 error

Thanks!

2x6970

Total: 2.8MH/s

Buying 6x7950 these days

908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Consolidated Litecoin Mining Guide for 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx GPUs on: April 11, 2013, 12:33:55 PM
stupid easy question

I`m testing my first 5970 @ these settings

--thread-concurency 8000 --shaders 1600 --worksize 256 --intensity 16 -g 1

the thing i don't get is this:

When hashing i have 2 values: 356/325Kh/s
What is the first value and what is the second, and why do they differ? (are those the cores?)

915  Bitcoin / Pools / Explain low LTC Pool hash rates on: April 08, 2013, 02:45:21 AM
Hi,

With the late craze i was wondering why according to the vircurex graphic (on the bottom of the page) LTC has the lowest HASH Rate compared to PPC and NMC?

I just don't get that
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Consolidated Litecoin Mining Guide for 5xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx GPUs on: April 07, 2013, 02:15:32 AM
Hello.
I was wondering which hashrate is the correct one when considering:

1. cgminer says: 402/398.4
2. notroll says 461-475

Which one is it then?
Running stock Gigabyte 5970

918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / QQ about Litecoin Hardware requirements on: April 07, 2013, 01:39:01 AM
I read about all the GPU's and bought a 5870 that does 400KH
I saw that the 5970 does ~750 (https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Mining-hardware-comparison), which is a huge improvement.

Besides the GPU, what else matters with the hashing speed.
This is my setup

CPU: C2D E8400
MOBO: ASUS P5B Deluxe
RAM: 2GB DDR2 (i do have another 6GB laying around but from what i heard RAM does not matter)
OS: W7 Proff x86
PSU: ANTEC P-1000

I`m thinking of stuffing this with 3 miners.
So my questions are:
1. does x86/x64 matter?
2. XP/Win7?
3. Does RAM Matter?

Any advice?
Thanks!

Not properly looking into bitcoin when I first heard about it around januari 2011 and forgetting about it for almost 2 years...
Those would have been some cheap coins...

i`m also considering litecoin since bitcoins difficulty will skyrocket, hence some people will move to litecoin and therefor increasing its value
