901  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of war on global economy. on: September 24, 2023, 03:49:00 PM
1. Increase in the national GDP is least likely to be caused by a war.
2. Oil is considered the most crucial resource in modern warfare.
3. War affects the stock market by causing a decline in stock prices.

What do you guys think? Is this true or false?

Ehh it depends on what country you are inside the war.  I would say that some countries GDP's increase due to helping out with wars, but for those that are fighting in the war, I'm not so sure that's the case.

I wouldn't say oil is the most crucial resource, just look at the Ukraine Russia war right now.  What is everyone sending Ukraine, not oil but guns, munitions etc.   Those are much more valuable during war.

Lastly yes war puts a damper on the entire world economy, especially when you've got two larger countries like Ukraine and Russia fighting.

Ware fucking sucks, any way you look at it, and I'm sick of it! Let's all get along!!

I would highly recommend that you learn about bitcoin first before you start getting in to "market trading".  As a financial advisor I can tell you that's you're going to get rekt if you don't understand what you're investing in.  Now maybe I'm wrong and you've been studying bitcoin but you are just getting started wit trading bitcoin..but if not, I highly recommend reading a few books to really understand bitcoin and how the blockchain works.

Can someone please turn OFF the injuries?!  Lol

It's been so bad that i had to pick up the same guy i dropped earlier in the week. Jamaal Williams and J. Hill are off my team, while Gainwell has likely lost his "rb1" status after Swift's big performance in week 2. Pacheco and his Q-hammy....i mean what are we even doing? It's the same rb carnage across all the leagues i'm in.

Furthermore, Waddle has not cleared concussion protocol, and i'm up against Tyreek Hill...for fuck's sake.

Lol you and Hueristic are right, holy shit the injuries have been absolutely INSANE so far this year and we are only in week freakn 3 (which is only 1 game in).

I have Austin Eckler in another league, and like you @Hueristic I have handcuffs for quite a few players, but they are all pretty big downgrades for the most part.

Going to be making my bets soon, will come back and post who I plan to throw some bitcoin down on today.  Everyone enjoy your football Sunday's!!!
904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino features you like and Don't like but you don't mind on: September 24, 2023, 03:36:37 PM
For me being at a physical casino versus and online casino I see them as two entirely different things. The main reason I stopped going to in person casinos was because they allowed for smoking and I can't stand cigarette smoke (weed smoke, no problem).  So I simply like the fact that I don't have to smell that and be around gross dirty people (which is what you often find at in person casinos..if I'm being honest).
905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 24, 2023, 03:33:42 PM
You’re all tripping about Dwight Howard. He was forced out of the league because of his sideline and locker on behavior, not because he stopped being an elite center. He’s getting older sure, but he’s still a top 10 center in the league.

Portland trying to force Damian Lillard to training camp. I’m sure he’ll cooperate, but it’s not a good look. Haven’t heard much about the Harden drama lately.

He is 37 with nearly 20 years of professional miles on him.  Was pointing out he is no way going to change a team one way or another.  He probably will only get 10-15 minutes a game tops and that's depending on the matchup.  Throw him out there 20+ minutes and he will break down.  He is a pounder that's a young man's game.

I think the Warriors for sure has taken that account into consideration when they opted him for a try out. And the same with Howard, he knows that he will be just like a 10-15 minutes player or even less, but still he take that chances, but it wasn't meant for him to be a Warriors a guess.

For the Lillard and Harden drama, I would just wait for the official news though. It seems that every day there is different directions for this two whether to stay on their current teams or they be traded.

Top 10 center in the league he says, haha.
Didn't this guy see him play in Taiwan? I saw him play, live in the arena 3 times. Even in Taiwan he can't dominate in the paint and had problems with some guys, so how would he in the NBA.
Also, at GSW he would also just be the backup center. How would he be a backup as a top 10 center, smh.

Wow that's pretty cool you saw him play in Taiwan?  Did you see any other former NBA players when you went to watch? We rarely hear about where x-NBA players go to play after the NBA.  I honestly had no idea that he was playing Taiwan.  Every once in a while I hear about an x-NBA player playing overseas and always suprised about it.

I bet he wat still fun to watch no?
906  Economy / Economics / Re: Free Investment tips on: September 22, 2023, 02:46:14 AM
I wouldn’t call all of these investment tips but you do make some good points here. It doesn’t cost you anything to get on the internet and read and read some more. Go on YouTube and watch videos to educate yourself. Etc. I mean technically it costs you the price of your internet service , but that’s sort of besides the point.

I would caution though though that you make sure you research who’s giving the advice. Lot of people giving advice that shouldn’t be.
907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Secure Your Legacy, Educate Your Loved Ones on: September 22, 2023, 02:39:46 AM
As a financial advisor this is something I preach religiously. It’s so important for people to establish Wills that are constantly updated. Even simple things like not having a beneficiaries listed on peoples retirement plan accounts like 401ks etc I see all the time.

It just comes down to laziness unfortunately. People need to stop being lazy and spend a few hours to protect your assets for life and after life “control from the grave” we call it.

I dunno man, Dwight is not nearly the player he use to be and he center position is not the way it use to be either (but of course you obviously know this).

I agree he could probably be playing in the league still, but I don’t think at a very high level and his shenanigans just aren’t worth it. If he was good enough they would put up with it.
909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Top 5 Gambling Strategies on: September 22, 2023, 02:20:08 AM

1. Set your bet unit and stick to it

This is a good strategy if you’re starting out with a large bankroll. If you start your sports betting career with $5,000, you may want to stick with a unit. Then you begin to slowly build your bankroll by sticking to a unit bet.

We determine our unit bet based on our risk tolerance. The more tolerance for risk, the more we bet. If you’re risk averse, keep your bet unit to a minimum. Sports betting is possible 365 days out of the year. So there’s no reason to cause unwarranted stress.

2. Bet a percentage of your bankroll and decrease when you reach a goal
If you start with a smaller bankroll, consider betting a percentage up to a goal. For example, let’s say you start with $300. You bet 20% of your bankroll up until you reach around $1,000.

Then, you lower your bet percentage from 20% to 15%. Once you reach $2,000, a huge accomplishment if you started with $300, lower your percentage to 10%. If you’re not risk averse, keep it at 15%.

Think of the percentage as the dividends you are making on your sports betting stock portfolio. Doing so allows you to see sports betting in a different light, an investment point of view instead of a gambling point of view.

3. Go against the public
You won’t always win going against the public. You will make smarter bets in the long run if you always lean towards going against the public.

By lean, we mean handicapping public choices fully. The public is usually wrong. The public also loves to back chalk. So going against the public in many cases leads to better payouts and plays that have a much better chance of winning.

I agree with this to some extent but number three I’m not sure I agree with at all. Often times the public gambles a certain way because it is the most likely outcome. Of course when betting against the public when it comes to sports betting you can get better odds/payouts , but then your changes of winning aren’t as high so it’s much riskier.

Cooper Kupp was certainly not no.1 pick in my draft. I drafred him in the 4th round, I reckon.

In any case, you are right! I will play this and get as much points as this horrible team can get and try to get in the playoffs hehehe.

You cancelled the trade offer, but to be honest I would not have traded the Rams #1 WR for a backup RB. Sure Kupp may come back but it’s not looking good or likely. We’ve not heard any updates about his injury which is really telling.

This games tonight is surprising really interesting, I expected it to be a complete blow out by the niners.
911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moment of truth on: September 20, 2023, 05:50:21 PM
I'm a financial advisor and have been for close to 20 years now.  I have worked with most all of the major finance companies/banks and I've seen how they operate from within.  The worlds two largest banks (Chase and Bank of America) are corrupt as all sin.  Just take a look at the Chase fraud violation tracker https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/jpmorgan-chase (nearly 40 BILLION in fraud since the year 2000).  So knowing how corrupt these big banks are, it was a natural lead in to bitcoin, and it's decentralized nature can help fix this , or at least make money better.  I studied bitcoin for an entire year before I ever bought any.  I bought it because I fell in love with the technology...not trying to "get rich quick" by any means.  I wish more people focused on that and less about "profits".  Theymos should ban the word "profits" here on the forum lol.  I'm so sick of that being the majority of peoples "goal" with bitcoin.   It's technically NOT investment, it's digital currency.
912  Economy / Economics / Re: How to reduce the price of goods on: September 20, 2023, 05:44:15 PM
I have been thinking and trying to analyze what is really causing the high cost of food in Nigeria, I came to realize that monopoly is the major factors, Nigeria government are the enablers. How can one person be the sole major distributor, government should welcome competition in the business sector, every business person should be allowed to produce.

I am not going to lie and act like I understand that politics of Nigeria, but I do know it's a very corrupt nation which is sad because it's also an emerging economy with a ton of people but it seems corruption holds back it's potential progress a good bit. But here's the thing that is similar in the US.  Food companies in private get together and set market prices...ie manipulation. Now we do have monopoly laws here in the US, but they only help so much.  Food prices just like healthcare prices here in the US are just pure BS.
913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the drive that makes women go into gambling? on: September 20, 2023, 05:18:50 PM
I don't think it's any different for women than it is men.  I can tell you though as a financial advisor that more men gamble than women because men tend to be more reckless with their finances that women overall (20 years of experience backing that claim up).  Women like winning money just the same as men do.  Also they enjoy the same benefits of it being a fun social event. My x-gf loved going to the casino.  It was a fun thing for us to do, get dressed up and go hit the casinos, just something different than your average evening.

I am sick to my stomach this morning. I have the absolute worst luck when it comes to injuries in fantasy football. I am in 5 different leagues and have Nick Chubb in 3 of those leagues. That is an absolute blow to all my teams. I mean why does it have to happen in week freaking 2. Ugh 😩

Yeah brutal.  Fantasy football always does this, I've always said there is a large amount of luck to it.  Obviously you can recover but it makes it difficult and some sleepers have to hit big.  On a real note that injury was o.e of the worst I've ever seen in terms of body parts bending how they shouldn't.  I don't know how easy that's gon a be able to recover from.

Man it FUCKED my entire FF season, in week mf two  Cry  .  I think the lesson here is "diversify yo bonds" -wu tang.  I shouldn't have taken him in 3 of 5  leagues lol.  I should have drafted CMC in this forum league when I had the first pick, but I just believed in Chubb so much and his lack of injury history like CMC has, plus he was far and away their best player/focal point.  He was primed for a MASSIVE year. fuck fuck and fuck lol.

In our other league Wheelz I also drafted G Wilson who took a massive hit losing Rodgers.  I do have Kamara in most leagues, and got Kyren Williams in another league who looks primed...but Chubb tied everything together , like the Dude's rug (fucking nihilists  Cheesy )
915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: September 20, 2023, 05:10:12 PM
There's absolutely nothing wrong with gambling in front of your kids.  The whole key is being a good parent and teaching proper manners/values/right from wrong etc.  My dad loved gambling.  He went to Vegas 2-3 times a year, and the local gambling "boat" by where we lived once a month at least.  My father was extremely successful in life.  He was a degenerate by any means and he typically did quite well gambling.  But he taught us to be careful, to study before gambling (he read countless blackjack books) etc.  He taught me little life lessons that stick in my head to this day and I lost him when I was 15.  It's all about how you parent/teach your children.  Nothing wrong with gambling around kids, nothing, as long as you teach them to do it properly.
916  Economy / Economics / Re: Thailand to start taxing overseas income next year, including from crypto on: September 19, 2023, 04:52:51 PM
I am amazed at how much many people in other countries (outside of the United States) are taxed on certain things like this.  For example Europe has VAT taxes.  Just to be able to receive stuff like silver and gold coins, countries in Europe/India etc charge anywhere up to 40% of the cost of the actual item.  To me this is absolutely criminal.

People need to vote out politicians who support this crazy overseas shipping taxes.  It's not right.
917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not banned, yet not accepted on: September 19, 2023, 04:50:30 PM
The problem is most people don't use bitcoin for payments.  I see bitcoin as an electronic payment system.  Most people see bitcoin as a way to make money, an investment, including banks.  I don't think that bitcoin could ever be banned thanks to it's decentralized nature and decentralized exchanges or OTC (over the counter) trades, but the more banks get on board the better the adoption rate will be.

We need to use bitcoin as payments, I can't stress this enough!
918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Importance of Gambling to the society on: September 19, 2023, 04:47:50 PM
I completely agree. Gambling has a negative connotation in a lot of peoples minds as it can lead to addiction, but the average person can gamble and keep things under wraps, so to speak.

Here in the state of Illinois, we have legalized gambling in a big way, and continue to loosen gambling laws and it's helping out state tremendously as we are broke.  I think it's a huge positive !
919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: September 19, 2023, 04:42:34 PM
I have never had a relationship where my significant other had an issue with my gambling “habits”. Now I can certainly understand where it could become an issue for couples or relationships in where it affects the relationship as one could be dragging down their finances. Especially if someone has a gamble disease.

Luckily it’s not been an issue for me but I know it is for many people.
