How would reparations even work?  Do you submit a blood test to see if you're enough of a certain race for the payment, or is there a sliding payment scale based on how much of a certain race you have in your genes?  Maybe it's just if you identify as a certain race then you get the payout?  Where do these funds come from?  If it's the taxpayer that funds it, then can we get a tax deduction if our ancestors immigrated here after the civil war?

Instead, how about we stop bombing other countries and maybe take a fresh approach to not doing horrible things to the people outside of the US.  Could be a step in the right direction.
9062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: March 04, 2021, 12:32:03 AM
We have some big game tomorrow.

Jazz vs 76ers.

Jazz playing the best season but 76ers is also a tough team.
Per betting odds, Jazz is the favorite, which team do you think will win, and why?

Please share some thoughts.

I honestly can't pick one way or another.  The sixers can completely flop in this game or dominate.  The center battle will be fun to watch between embid on gobert.  I like the jazz in this one as I dont think the sixers will be able to stop donovan mitchell in this one.  Only thing that will save the sixers is if they hit 3s like they did in the last game.
I have doubts too on which team I would bet.
Perhaps, I will just pass on this one and just watch the game.  Grin

How about the Rockets vs Nets?
Harden will be against his former team and it looks exciting too.
The ML for Rockets though is too high that its scary. Kyrie and Harden combined is playing a monster game.
-9.5 for Nets just to gain a satisfying profit.

Honestly I'm taking the over on this one.  Its sitting at 226 and I know Houston doesn't score all that much but its not like the nets are defensive juggernauts.  Also wrapping in a nets money line bet.  I think harden will light it up this game, I mean every player wants to do that to their old team no? Can see nets scoring 130+ in this one so I think I just need Houston to hit trie digits which I'm hoping they can do in a fast pace game

Probably a good bet.  I think it's safe to say they'd cover the spread as well.  I'm looking for the Nets to demolish the Rockets, but at the same time the Rockets could be looking to put the hurt on Harden for his public disrespect.  It's always fun to watch a player return to his previous team when there's drama, so this might be a game to take some time to watch part of.  Smiley
9063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Congrats to the Diamond Hands Bitcoin Holders! on: March 04, 2021, 12:29:06 AM
There have been lots of discussions lately about Bitcoin minting millionaires with this latest runup.  Articles are popping up claiming there are nearly a hundred thousand Bitcoin addresses holding over 1 million dollars worth of BTC now.  You have people celebrating these "Diamond Hands" Bitcoiners on Reddit and sharing their stories of how they got or what could have been.

I don't know how many Diamond Hands Bitcoiners we have around these parts, but...

Congrats to you if you are one of the 93 thousand addresses holding over 1 million dollars in BTC

Huge congrats if you are one of the 8 thousand addresses holding more than 10 million dollars in BTC!

There's also more than 423 thousand Bitcoin accounts holding more than 100 thousand dollars worth of BTC, so if you are in that club that ain't too shabby either!
9064  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: March 04, 2021, 12:17:57 AM
You're absolutely right but there are a lot of Bitcoin millionaires (mostly early adpoters) who can still donate 10BTC to the forum but it rare though for them to do the donation. Wait a minute, the donation is even enough to participate and pay a maintenance cost in the build a seastead which was once introduced by Theymos.
I do not think that there are a lot of Bitcoin Millionairs.
I would bet that there are less than 5 if any other than Satoshi (and even his amount of bitcoin are not sure that these expected 1 million belongs to him)
Not counting an exchange as these funds are only in custody to their customers (but sure not your keys, not your coins)

They are talking about millions worth of BTC in USD not millions of bitcoins.  There are quite a bit more than 5 out there.  According to this article there are more than 93 thousand out there holding more than a million dollars worth of BTC.  It wouldn't be surprising if many of these folks were members here at one point and maybe there's even a few lurking around or participating here and there.
9065  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1oz .999 FINE SILVER "LITECOIN" BINARY ROUNDS (2018) on: March 03, 2021, 11:24:44 PM
Litecoin fans! Coin resellers! I’ve got some 24kt gold plated .999 silver rounds left I’d like to offer at a bargain while silver is in such high demand. Message me if you’re interested in purchasing a roll of coins for $600 in BTC while supplies last! A steal for gold plated coins!

Individual rounds can be purchased at https://nastyfans.org/mint

OgNasty: How many are in rolls?

as far as I know 20 coins in a tube

Yes, I mean 20 when I say a roll. I could put them all in airtites for a couple bucks extra. The gold plating process these coins went through costs extra from the typical stamping fee, so this is a pretty good offer.

No game of chance recently, George put up a 32 points show and still lost the game by 5 points without Leonard.

I saw Pandemic P trending on Twitter so I can only assume he was missing a lot of shots. Poor guy... He’s had a remarkable comeback since his gruesome leg injury with the Olympic team but you have to wonder if he had been able to keep playing without healing and rehab time if he would have been an MVP candidate.
9067  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 02, 2021, 10:35:08 PM
Early picks.  Wink

Bucks vs. Nuggets ML.
Lakers vs. Suns ML

I might follow some of you guys later when you post your picks.
Good luck to everyone.

Nuggets on the road is a tough one, especially after the Bucks showing against the clips.  I do like the ML figure for the Suns in this one but also struggle with betting against any lebron team at home.  Seems like a disaster as soon as I bet it.  Going to stick with the under on that one.  Either way hopefully suns win but game doesn't reach 214 points Smiley

Reid would always of Nuggets in such circumstances, Lol!

I'm more interested in backing the Lakers ML vs Phoenix Suns today, the odds is currently valued @1.84 and the -1.5 @ 1.90

Lakers have won 2 straight but I believe this is a tough game for them as the Suns are also playing their best basketball so far. If Chris Paul will play then I'm afraid I'll be on the opposite side as I believe Lakers are still not complete and they might still struggle against a better team that the last two they beat.

I don’t know if I’ll bet it, but I’ll be watching the game. I feel like it could go either way. The Suns are playing great and the Lakers are without Anthony Davis... If the Suns were ever going to beat them it would be tonight. Maybe I’ll put a couple of dollars on it to keep it interesting, but at this point it might as well be flipping a coin.
9068  Economy / Reputation / Re: Most Recognized Profiles (by BPIP) on: March 02, 2021, 09:14:26 PM
Maybe the Largest Merit Circle can count for Recognition too

We all know why this won’t happen. It would be very damaging to someone’s ego who is no longer a merit source and wouldn’t be able to manipulate the metric. Otherwise, a good idea to improve the rating. Adding a length of time factor to the trust score calculation would also be a beneficial improvement.

Harden put up a crazy 30 14 & 15 tonight in their overtime win. Most impressive is that he didn’t have a single turnover. The entire team only had 5. That’s a pretty encouraging sign that they’re getting their offense together. Especially given the extra playtime and closeness of the game.
Yeah, that's starting to look better, as expected. Those players are simply too good offensively that they wouldn't eventually figure things out.

Now the main thing is to try to have all three players healthy when playoff starts, without even ones of them their playoff might end up early. Their bench looks a bit better but there is still a lot of room for improvement and unless they sort that out I don't see them having deep playoff run.

Good match up tomorrow.
Suns (4th) 22-11 vs Lakers (2nd) 24-11.
Both have 2 winning streak. This might go hardcore trying to stay in their ranks.

Lakers had just gained back their momentum after Schroder came back.
Their defense had been better but, can they stop an offensive Phoenix Suns. I'll be putting my bet for the Suns.
My money will be on Suns too, they are really playing some good basketball. Adding Chris Paul really made them much better, great sign. No one expected them to be so good yet again game after game they are showing that it's not just some luck.

Ayton will have to play a good game for the Lakers to lose.  That's asking a lot from the young big man.  We'll see though.  The Suns usually have a hard time against the Lakers, but this is the best team we've had in years.  I'll be watching the game tonight.  It's a nationally televised event on TNT, which the Suns don't see very often.  I actually can't remember if I've ever seen the Suns on TNT.  Certainly not since the Nash/Marion days.

Asking price lowered to 35 BTC.  Payment will need to be made in advance of receiving coins.

There is so much money involved here.  I'm sure they're just trying to flex and see what sort of take they can get on the action.  I doubt the end game here is to stop people from putting money into their favorite clubs.  That just doesn't make sense.  I'm not sure where the pressure for this is coming from or what the goal is, but it seems like someone is playing a game of chicken to try and get some extra money flowing.
9074  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Logan Paul moving to Puerto Rico, fight back on? on: March 02, 2021, 12:32:28 AM
Logan Paul has stated repeatedly in the last few days that this fight is still on and will be airing on Showtime.  I think they have everything lined up, but are just hoping they can get the all clear from Covid restrictions to have a live crowd there.  I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening, but I don't think the youtuber will mind much so long as he gets his chance against the champ.
9075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elon Musk and BTC on: March 01, 2021, 09:09:21 PM
After announcement that Elon Musk invested billions in btc, the price that was already high, skyrocketed just in a couple of days. A lot of rumors about huge wall street investors started to appear. But I have a very short question. Which "Wall street" or other professional investor with clear mind would invest in THE MOST VOLATILE COMMODITY IN THE WORLD  after it reached $57 000

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/

I know that I will be attacked by BTC supporters, but you are welcome.

Elon Musk has more money than you. Elon Musk is better with money than you. Elon Musk believes Bitcoin will go up in price. You seem to believe it will go down. Let’s check back in this thread in six months and see who is better with money, you or Elon. My money is with Elon.

Under 234.5 New Orleans Pelicans vs Utah Jazz @2.06
I'll be watching the Mavs game though to follow Nets vs Spurs game.
Good luck on this buddy!.. I can't bet on the under when Pelicans are playing, it's just like over is easy for them to hit, especially that the line is 234.. if it's 220 and below, I might bet on it.

Ya, both the Jazz and Pelicans are pretty high scorers. Granted my ability to accurately pick the winners in sports bets leaves room for improvement but I’d be looking to bed the over here. Sure 234 points is a high mark for an NBA game, but these two teams will be running and gunning.

Israel Adesanya is going to have important UFC fight starting just in few days against Blachowitcz and we know Stake is one of Adesanya sponsors.
Can we expect to see some promotion or weekly prediction competition for UFC MMA and bitcointallk forum members?

We have active UFC Info and Prediction Thread here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5139347.0

Are we all betting on Adesanya to support the team? It’s pretty cool to sponsor someone at this level. Kudos to stake and I’m going to be keeping an eye on this fight and hoping our boy pulls it out. Good luck to him and I’m looking forward to seeing how this battle in the ring plays out.

By the way, I was happy that Domantas Sabonis was chosen for the All Star, in my opinion it was deserved, each passing day, he is improving his game
Based on what I've read.

He's going to play and replace Durant who's been injured. Congratulations to him, very good guy.

3rd time for the all-star right?
Yes, you're right!
I am happy that he is having this other opportunity to show his work.
I think that over the years he will improve his skills even more.

Having a legendary basketball player for a father definitely gave him some opportunities, but he’s risen to the challenge and proven himself an above average NBA player. I think he benefits a little from being on a weak team that gives him more chances to gain stats, but he’d be a welcome addition to any NBA team.
9079  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: February 28, 2021, 10:16:01 PM
I prefer not to gamble my earnings and just withdraw them or save them for 2 weeks at least because I can wait 2 weeks to get my earnings in btc converted to fiat to save some fees. I get charged at $10 to withdraw, so it's less than 10% of my total earnings and I'm not bothered paying it to the gambling site I work for.

Probably the smart move. It’s fun to gamble every once in a while but consistently losing your earnings is probably not a good idea. One of the reasons I started this was so people could take a look at what they do with their earnings and maybe find a more clever use for their funds. Might I suggest https://nastyfans.org/mint as a great way to get something physical from your advertising?  Cheesy
9080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 28, 2021, 10:13:37 PM
What is happening with the Rockets? I know some of their players had minor health problems, but Wall is looking healthy and active. Nevertheless, the Rockets have won only two times in February, and they have a ten-game losing streak.

John Wall can't carry the whole Rockets alone. He needs some backup and that's what Rockets is currently lacking.

Don't hope for them this season. The moment Harden leaves, their offensive power decreases. They should just tank this season and play without pressure.

Ya, like Harden said, they just aren’t good enough. I feel bad for John Wall having to play there as he is one of the best players in the league, but he’s also enjoying no state income tax on his massive paycheck, so it isn’t all bad for him. If he can show he’s healthy and can return to his prior injury greatness then maybe a team will take a chance on his contract and add him to a contender.
