921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I didnt know that Bitsquare connects to my own node. on: December 21, 2016, 04:18:57 PM
I have a node running on my computer and whilst my VPN is on it only has outbound connections,  but i was using bitsquare today and noticed that i had an incoming connection on my core node whilst using the vpn.  so i checked it out and it was from my local ip and was a Bitcoinj connection by bitsquare,  what is the purpose for this?  does anyone know?

BitcoinJ is a SPV implementation, it gets data from full nodes. Your "no external connection" rule is probably a firewall rule. If you did not set the node to listen=0 it will still accept inbound connections if its reachable.

I am nearly at 1000 activity but I am still a Hero level member.

I guess because I do not post very much.

After you posted this comment here, you have already became a Legendary member, is someone make this happen(not random)?

No, their activity could be higher but is limited by the number of posts. It will increase with every post until the limit is hit. Because the user often posts less than 14 posts in 14 days, this limit was actually above legendary max (1030) for quite some time.

i sent money to my bitcoin core wallet address thinking it was ready to go but the wallet had not finished syncing and i cant download it because i have no memory what should i do when it shows the wallet it doesnt show the money in there im so sad it was my hard earned money

You have several options

#1 (potential risky due to exposed private key) export the private key into a different wallet, e.g. electrum
#2 (easiest) set bitcoin core to prune, it will still download and verify the data, but not safe the majority of the data.
#3 (advanced) create an raw transaction, sign it with the unsynced core and broadcast it online
925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitnodes21 command does this install a full node? on: December 20, 2016, 09:12:46 PM
Does this command fully install a bitcoin node on my linux machine?  i found it at bitnodes21.

curl https://bitnodes.21.co/install-full-node.sh | sh
I run a full node. All you need to do is set Core to accept inbound connections;

Should probably install first.

set the threads at 16;

What? why?

and then configure your home network/router to forward port 8333 to the computer handling Core.

if you want to accept inbound connects, which is not a requirement to run a full node and might actually have a negative impact on other connections depending on the number of nodes you connect to and your internet connection.

Next time you start up you'll start building connections...I find I'm running around 90 at a time, but I've got a fairly hefty system and no data cap.

In my personal expierence, a seldom changing IP and possibly bandwith is more important than CPU power or unlimited data.

It really has not so much to do with Linux as with your home network. I run Ubuntu 16.04LTS, btw. Best to you.

Yeah, the OS isnt really important, neither is your local network.

Ah, yes...the only issue you may run into, depending on your ISP, is that they may block 8333 on their end. You'll find out soon enough.

EDIT: I guess what I'm saying is that I'm wondering why use a script for a pretty simple op...and the script doesn't cover all situations, such as running your own router/subnet behind a cable modem/router, which many folks do.  Cool

Well it does what it can in order to make this as easy as possible by building with uPNP enabled.

Our Solution

How does it work?

Our System is based on a token called BitcoinR. Which is basically a revised version of bitcoin.

But unlike Bitcoin, BTCR can not be mined publicly. Instead what we have is cloud mining contracts. Through using this contract our users can mine BTCR on fraction of cost vs Bitcoin.

Risks & Challenges
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A VERY RISKY INVESTMENT. YOU CAN EITHER WIN BIG WAY OR LOSE BIG WAY. ONLY INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO GIVE YOU THE BEST VALUE POSSIBLE/

PLease Join the company's slack of any questions.

Total of 21 million BTCR will be mined. 10% will be development fee the rest will be mined by the general public. Smiley
IF you guys want to invest please send any bitcoin to the address below. After that create a ticket with the address you send the bitcoin from and the amount. We will convert those bitcoins into BTCR and credit your account accordingly.

927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction desapeared on: December 18, 2016, 08:38:33 AM
That's weird. How is a transaction that conflict with another transaction with 63084 confirmations still be accepted by nodes? The transaction you posted will never confirm. I'd guess the older transaction got double spended too.

Edit:
Looks like This transaction was made a year ago. The one who made it need to rescan their wallet.
then double spend dont have solution?

Just tell the sender to send again and check the input carefully or clean their wallet first using -zapwallettxes (instructions here). zapwallettxes will delete all unconfirmed transaction from a wallet and they will reappear after they get confirmed.
Unless the sender do this they might get the same problem in the future.

Edit:
Forgot to mention that this is if they're using bitcoin core.

I dont think its that easy. This is all kinds of fucked up. As you wrote yourself why is it shown as having 63k confirmations and unconfirmed at the same time?

I know there is already an overview thread about the hardware wallets but I made a new topic lately as the first one is not being updated anymore and OP is not connecting either , I'm trying to include more information's and more wallets with time (I sometimes need to contact the wallets providers to have some information's like the numbers of units sold etc...) , and reviews will be added as well : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1710607.0;topicseen

932  Other / Off-topic / Re: SSD encryption on: December 17, 2016, 07:13:49 PM
Software like veracrypt ecc.. encrypts the whole space on the hdd/ssd, so even the "free space" is encrypted. There is no need to use special software to clean free space (assuming that your encryption key is strong enough), it will only increase the number of write operations and shorten the life of the ssd.

VeraCrypt can also be used to create containers (same as TrueCrypt). When you set up full disk encryption with VeraCrypt it asks you whether you want to overwrite free space or not and its good practice to do so.

Once I will release a ico each of this coin will be worth .25 cents and you will get the first dips. Secondly you can add me on skype so, you know exactly who you are investing your money in. I would really like someone experienced on my team:) And can someone please teach me how to put images on this site. I look so unprofessional with the current setup.

You have right. It's [2] link. With this you wrote "...received on an address you have in multiple wallets..." is complicated enough for me with the knowledge I have at this moment. My issue is that I want to change wallet from web wallet (blockchain.info) to a desktop one (electrum or multibit) but I want one public address from web wallet to be appeared only in my new desktop wallet. So I think to apply the following steps and I would ask you to confirm if these and their chronological order are right or not:

1. Install the desktop wallet (electrum or multibit).

Multibit Classic allows you to import private keys, but its no longer maintained besides critical bugs. Multibit HD does not allow you to import private keys. Youd have to go with electrum.

2. Spend all the funds from web wallet to desktop wallet (I don't care the network address).
3. Assume that I want to "transfer" network address: 1NPr3........ from Blockchain.info wallet to Electrum or multibit and I know its private key.
4. I sweep (importing private key), even though there are no funds [spend on step 1.] to Electrum or multibit wallet.

No, sweep just moves the funds (if any) it does not add the private key into the wallet. Electrum forces you to do this in a different wallet file, to make it obvious that its not covered by the seed. You can have two wallets open at the same time though.

5. I check that address 1NPr3........ appears in Electrum or multibit.
6. I delete address 1NPr3........ from Blockchain.info ( It's complicated for me to check if wallets are synced).
7. This address appears ONLY in my new desktop wallet

Thank you in advance for your time you explain to me.

Id skip step 6, as long as you no longer use the bc.i wallet it should not matter anyway. If you dont delete it, you can think of it as a kind of backup.
936  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: which btc provider ist the safest? on: December 17, 2016, 01:34:41 PM
You could try coinbase but they require verification to buy directly. Localbitcoins.com may be a good place to buy but sometimes fraudulent trades can sneak in as it's "peer to peer". It may be best to find a company local to your country, just be sure to do lots of research and look around for the most popular exchanges.

Localbitcoins is no longer operational in germany and bitcoin.de is the only german exchange unless you count things like mycelium local trader or going to a random meet up and asking people.

Some of you might not believe this but this address actually doubles your bit coins by renting bitcoins to others ... This is risky hence i am saying that do this at your own risk ... you may lose your bitcoins ... Hence i am WARNING YOU .... BUT FOR ME THE ADDRESS WORKED ... INITIALLY I ALSO DIDNT BELIEVE THIS BUT MY FRIEND SHOWED ME THE PROOF ... SO for testing i deposited around 1$ worth of bitcoins ... then i didnt get them back for another 2-3 days ... then suddenly i recieved 2$ ...man was i happy ... but taken the risk factor i never actually deposit more than 2-3$ ( which evertime i got back) .. till date i have deposited just 5$ and got 10$ back ... if you are thinking of depositing to the address i suggest dont deposit much .. just 1-2$ is enough ... i dont know if this might might work for you but the address:

13UhAQocGB6Jkce9Ryb5uBPH3FnT1eAMXF

I am not the person who will double the bitcoins... just a person who have used it .. so if you get scammed ... its at your own risk ... I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LOSS ..

May be the right word is "delete" and not "close" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1029071.msg11126810#msg11126810 and somewhere else now I can't remember.

Yes, I remembered the post as well. Whether or not its possible depends on the wallet you currently use. The newer versions of blockchain.info no longer allow you to export private keys individually and getting the seed in a way that other wallets understand it seems to be complex at least. You can still maintain the blockchain.info wallet if you no longer use it to receive bitcoin though. Its perfectly fine to use several wallets for different reasons or just to keep your funds separated.

Thank you shorena. Concerning the blockchain.info wallet I found a solution a month ago when I read a thread of the forum with a link about BIP39 Mnemonic Code Converter where I put the passphrase and public keys with their private keys appeared in the screen. So I solved this issue. I asked about how to reuse an address because I don't want the mess. For example, a web wallet, a desktop wallet, a hardware wallet so many passwords and mnemonic codes. Furthermore I want to retain some addresses from previous wallets like the one I have in my profile. Thanks to longbob72 the answer was really simple to follow.

If you spend funds received on an address you have in multiple wallets, you should always make sure the wallets are properly synced before creating another transaction. Besides that I dont think its a problem. In regards to security you have more points that can be attacked, but as long as each is defended well (random, 16+ alphanumerical or 6+ words[1] passwords) it should not give an attacker an advantage. 3 doors one can not crack are not better than one door one can not crack.

Didnt know about the converter[1], Ill have a look at it. Thanks.
