Agreed and is planned,

I'm almost done with ROKOS core for the BananaPRO, will update the release and then start
updating this ANN and thread with the coming Flavors release and clear images about the Base Integrated Cryptocurrencies.

Same way next week should start sharing some screenshots and advances with the different cryptocurrency developers/communities.

What is best to buy, The Banan Pro or te Raspberry Pi 2 (latest model?)

Hi,

Really intrested to learn more about using Raspberry Pi 2  for PoS coin Staking.

I want to be able to use the Pi 2, to run my I/O Coin wallet.   What would be required to do this please?

Would the developers of I/OCoin need to write a script?  As the only versions are available are for the Windows and Macs? So there would need to be a Linux version of the wallet for it to work with the Pi?

Any help is greatly appreciated many thanks.

Hi,

Will add tech and info video tutorials to the website after rokos release.

Would only need the I/O devs to get in touch and claim a position for a coming release and will gladly integrate them into the ROKOS system.
I compile them natively so there should be no issues on adding it to the system. (Positions Promo)

Always glad to cross collaborate, Best Regards.

Thats great, could you tell me how it works "integrate them into the ROKOS system"?

What is your website address please?  Also, the fee is 0.15BTC ?

And I/OCoin gets a program to run on the Pi that will run the wallets to stake them?

Sure, ROK OS is a full operating system for Raspberry pi 2, (will release it for BananaPi and PINE64 in coming weeks as well and future devices)

The ROK OS website is: http://rokos.space
That is correct, the donation of 0.15btc gets it added to the "next release only", meaning if later they want to include on the OS released for other systems it would have to claim per each new release (with the 0.15donation), that is why I made a promotion of 0.45btc to get added permanently to the future releases (meaning 1 time donation and get released in any future ROKOS flavors release (for bananapi, pine64, future devices, software updates))

Correct, if added the system will include a node and clients to run I/O coin on the system (with staking and features) with one click like the rest of the included (claimed) cryptocurrencies, gets I/O wallpapers into the system, links to I/O resources and gets promoted in full on ROKOS as a base currency.

OK, so if i understand this correctly. I is not the same as downloading the QT wallet now and staking via that. It would be using your "service" as a third party?

Coins will be staked on your system?   A little confused.  I wanted something that would run a QT wallet to stake just like on a laptop/desktop.

What is "rokos as a base currency?"

It is the same QT wallets but on the IoT devices (raspberry, banana, pine)

ROKOS is an OS, like windows, linux, etc (it is linux based)  free for download to the users, the nice thing is it includes all the base currencies in the system already, so the users only burn the OS to their cards and can use any of the included currencies (like they use on windows or linux)

It is your Operating System, so there is no 3rd parties involved, you are the sole owner of the system, nobody else has access to it.

"in ROKOS as a base currency" means, that when the ROKOS flavors get released, it will be promoted with all the "base currencies" (the ones that claimed a permanent position in the system for future upgrades/releases).

Hope this helps, glad to answer any further doubt of course.

Thank you, i am new to Raspberry Pi's so please excuse if i sound a little "stupid". Your replies made things more clear. The purpose of your OS is to make it easier for people to take coins on PI's right and of course for your time, effort,  all teh hard work, there is a one off small fee to have the coin on your OS.

You mention "includes all the base currencies in the system already" but if i only want the 1 currency, i can easily delete the others?

Thanks for your help .  Smiley

Lets get more Nodes and make it easy for people to run IOC wallets on the Raspberry Pi's!

Trying to find out how to run a PoS wallet (i/ocoin) using a Pi.

This is the best post and reply i have read. (i have sent the poster a message)

I run all my wallets on Raspberry Pi. It works great for just about anything including solo mining, staking you name it. The only issue is that Qt5 libraries are not available yet to so ant apt-get install. It is possible to do a standalone compile of Qt5 but that becomes very tricky and the Qt5 compiles on a i looks ugly. In addition, compiling Qt5 on the Pi takes between 1-2 days.

In order to determine the strategy of a coins wallets on a Pi, look if the .Pro file has been setup for Qt5 or Qt4. If Qt4 then no problem it will compile, if Qt5 then skip Qt and just compile the headless daemon. You could always build your own Qt4 project if you really have the time and effort but it generally is not worth the effort. Here ans there are tricks to bypass the Qt5 issues like the qtwaitingspinner solution I mentioned in the one thread. In all cases headless daemon works perfectly fine. Qt wallets have a marginal advantage in that you can see visually what is going on with your coins and managing addresses with copy paste etc. There is nothing though that can be done with Qt wallet that you canot do with the daemon with a little bit more effort.

Iv posted several installation scripts for Pi wallets through the alt-coin section. If you want advice on a certain coin or want a script for it let me know.

EDIT: I would recommend the following 2 things for the headless daemon: 1) Change UPNP to "1" in the makefile.unix and 2) always check the src/leveldb/build_platform_detect to make sure it has read permissions for at least the account your compiling with, but it is ok to change it to "anyone" or world for the build.

PLEASE I/OCoin DEV Team.   Lets get a User Guide (script or whats needed) so many more people can run the I/OCoin wallets easily and cheaply using the super popular Raspberry Pi's  (latest versions probally best, Pi2's)

Thank you.

FEATURE REQUEST for New Wallet.

Think about security.  I would really like to have an option to enable "Email Confirmation" when sending out coins from the wallet.
Just like on exchanges, you have to click the email link to release the funds.

Maybe this will be easier than 2fa?  Something that would also be a first in crypto.  You could even ask Poloniex how they enable it ad get the code for the new wallet?

Just a thought.

Thank you.

PS: Do Not Forget to remove coins from Exchanges when bought and transfer to your desktop wallet and Stake them  Smiley

I like this idea. I'm going to place it on the feature request list.
Thanks

Richard

Was thinking of this feature and it came to mind is that the difficulty is in "talking" between the email link and the wallet. Somehow when clicking the link, the wallet / daemon must respond to that. not sure if that is technically possible. Adding Google Authenticator 2FA to the send functionality would be a good one to add imo. Just like with a 2FA on logging in on Bittrex and other services. Security is key i think.

If people have other requests or ideas, please let them know. The team can discuss these in team meetings.

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard, 2FA has been mentioned before but seems to be too difficult to implement, hence why no other wallet (as far as i know) has it.
Thats why i was thinking email verification (optional) would be easier to do, i am sure Poloniex would give you guys the code, as how they do it.

Also congratulations on the Benzinga 1st stage, lets hope I/O Digital can go all the way to the finals, just need the developments ready #DIONS #HTML5 wallet.

PS: I/OCoin / I/O Digital had  more votes than Augur! ( i see they just sneaked ahead now)  Cheesy

Hi all. Smiley I downloaded the windows wallet and have been trying to sync. It is syncing but seems to be going quite slowly. It could easily be a problem my end but just thought I'd check to see if there could be another reason?

Hi,

Synching can take up to 24 hours when starting a new wallet. So yes that will take some time.
On the next release we take care of that with embedding a bootstrap enabling to sync within an hour or so.

Regards

Richard

As my previous post, when i downloaded a new QT wallet to windows, with a fast internet connection, it took approx 20hrs to fully synch, its a large blockchain so does take time, perfectly normal.

IMPORTANT: WALLETS FACTS / RULES

1 - Never send coins to a wallet until it is fully loaded (in synch)
(as the coins won't show up until the blockchain is loaded)

2- As soon as everything is up to date. ENCRYPT WALLET !
(use a strong password EG: 15+charecters, with upper case, lower case, number's and symbols)

3- Then back up wallet to several, new or freshly formatted USB's.

All will be well.  Just a note about creating extra wallet addresses.  The QT wallet can handle around 30 addresses, but when you have more, it can cause slight problems with loading, so try and keep the wallet to under 30 addresses.

Also
Turning off your computer and forgetting to end wallet, can result in the wallet crashing the next time you try and load.
ALWAYS make sure to EXIT wallet, by click the X (top right) and wait a good 10 seconds before shutting down computer!

Should you have a wallet that "Freezes" on start up (because of not shutting it down correctly) you will need to remove your wallet.dat
Right click, Cut and Paste.  (do this carefully) Save the wallet.dat to desktop.
Then restart computer
wait until computer is fully started/settled.
Right click on wallet QT Icon and "Run as Administrator"
It will load normally. But with a new wallet.dat (with a zero balance)
Simply open iocoin folder, delete new wallet.dat and copy and paste in original wallet.dat
restart wallet and all will be fine.

IF ANYONE here has any questions about the wallet, please PM me, more than happy to help.

January 13th 2016 Follow Up - DEV UPDATE

Derek has reached a consensus to streamline the final api calls to DIONS. Derek will be working on defining blocks of functionality in terms of packaged up calls to his api and how Pat can interpret this so that we can finally get the full implementation in the wallet. Derek will be writing a final proposal as clearly as possible so that we can all proceed with Pat on the final stages of the DIONS api implementation.

We will update again once we make the first commits on github,

Thanks Everyone

I/O DIGITAL DEV TEAM

Thanks Joel,

So, in plain English this means DIONS is the final step that is holding the new wallet back and once the api is implemented then the wallet will be ready?

Also, i suspect there is some good news coming regarding the VC meetings? Just looking on the exchanges, the buy support is building all the time , slow and steady and good buys are taking place, like somebody knows something Wink

Also staking is up to 42% looks like people are moving coins to wallets, which is great, more loyal holders investing.

Keep it up!

Hi is anyone else having troubles syncing QT wallet to blockchain?

No, the QT and HTML wallets work perfect. I actually installed the latest QT wallet on a friends machine yesterday (running Windows 8 ), it took around 20hrs from start to finish to fully sync, then when it was, sent coins to it which arrived super fast (under 5 seconds!) and i know they have been buying coins last night and today ad sending to wallet and are very impressed with I/O Coin, to say the least.

On the exchanges i am seeing slow build up of buy support, some real stealthy buying going on, very positive signs!

The next few weeks i can see IOC in the 7k region no problem, still a fraction of it potential value, which i expect to be in the 100k region within 12 months from now.  (write this down and thank me later!)

The distribution looks suss. There seems to be  a few holders with large amounts looking to cash in. Just look at Bittrex.

I'm guessing that early on a few people mined most of the coins, and are now hoping to get rich. Or is this wrong?

Regarding mining, look at the block explorer it shows the first coins mined, up until this day! All mined fair and square, simple as that.

Not at all!  This coin was below 1k sats a year ago, so easy to buy 1 million coins.  Smart investor and the Bittrex Sells have been there since the early stages of this coin, it is the dumpers who keep dumping at 15k then buying back cheaper. Not to mention those top 3 "largest" wallets most likely belong to Poloniex, Bittrex and probably Cryptsy.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ioc/#!rich    Thats good distribution and not only that, it will get even better when old holders sell and new investors join the winning decentralized Blockchain I/O Digital team.

Comparing other POS coins with solid FACTS from BlockExplorer

IOC
40% avg staking.  30% top 10 (bearing in mind the top 10 contain 3 exchanges). 55% top 100 and 14% top 1000 wallets.  (#1 address owns 11%)
ARCH 23% staking. 32% Top 10. 48% top 100   20% top 1000   LArgest wallet own 21% supply
BLK 14% staking  38% top 10. 32% top 100 24% top 1000.  Largest wallet owns 20% supply
VRC 30% staking 32% in the top 10.  39% top 100  and 27% top 1000  Largest wallet owns 8%.

So as you can see, I/O Coin has better stats in nearly every area when it comes to distribution and Staking.  Only Vericoin has slightly better Largest wallet with 8%.  IOC wins all other stats.

I would urge more people to withdraw coins from exchanges (look at the mess with Cryptsy) and get them staking! Lets break 50% avg!

Looking at the Blockchain Explorer the distribution is good.

Importantly, staking is 40%+ and has been for a long time also.  So at least 6-8+million coins are in wallets and most of them are staking.

There is NO other PoS coin with such fantastic staking and good distribution.  Cant argue with facts!

Are there any plans to make the HTML5 wallet run on Linux? I'd like to run a physical node i.e. an always on Raspberry Pi for example for staking and securing the network. I could build another (Windows based) energy efficient machine, but if it would be possible on a raspi that would be awesome.

Hi CTRLX,

What is the advantage of using Linux with a Raspberry Pi over using a windows computer using a Pi to run a node to stake the IOC wallet?

Really interested, i know nothing about Linux, i take it your are well versed in Linux operation, would love to here your views.  I also really like the idea of using Pi's to run nodes, other alt coins do it, dash very successfully, i think IOC could benefit greatly for education people about using Pi's to run nodes/wallets.

Thank you.

I think one advantage of using a raspberry pi is they only use like 5 watts,  windows computer would use what...like 10x the power.

Power consumption is a BIG factor for many when staking.  So if i am correct in my thinking. To run a node/wallet on a Pi you would.

1- Buy Raspberry Pi $30 - $60 depending on the one you want, a little extra with screen.
2 - Power supply, if one is not supplied i hear you can run these off certain mobile phone power supplies.
a very good guide here > http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals
3 - Download the latest i/ocoin wallet.

Then i guess you will need some sort of OS system there, looking on ebay the memory cards all come with pre loaded software, so all good.

Then should be a case of using it like you would a laptop (kinda) and run the wallet to stake your I/OCoins.

So there is no need for linux, windows or Mac, or am i missing something?

How much memory would you need to run a IOC wallet?

Maybe the developers have a Pi and use it for running wallets and give us instructions?

PS: Would be a great idea to have a member here make a user guide video for DiguSign with an explanation of how it works.  Plus adding an "overview" to the website. Explaining the legalalities of storing Documents and such on the blockchain and an explanation of why this is a good idea.

So DIONS is the DNS system IO coin uses?

No DIONS is not a DNS system, far from it and far more advanced and technical.

What is DIONS ?

Basically DIONS represents “Data on the blockchain” - (decentralized = not relying upon servers)

DIONS White Paper  EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS > http://www.iodigital.io/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ioc_whitepaper_dions.pdf

One of the many great features of DIONS it allows you to send and receive coins via an allias = username.  So goodbye, extremely hard to remember, hex addresses, welcome simple user names, as far as i am aware, no other coin in crypto has this ability in a decentralized way.

"When we were considering the future direction of this development, we wanted to leave room for storage
of records in a manner that the fees could be modified and also to prevent D/DoS on the nodes.
Other opcodes such as OP_EVAL and OP_LOAD will be introduced to allow the developers to revise the
conditions of the fees so that they can be calculated from both the size of the transaction and also the
number of steps involved with its procedure. The latter is the method used to prevent DOS attacks and bring
the I/O Coin platform to the same level to that of Etherium
."

I am sure the IOC Dev team will build on my basic explanation.

Also, Thank you MR Higgins for renewing the domain always great to have more domains pointing towards iocoin.io and iodigital.io

and yes Mr C.  The Tortoise is beating the hare, slow and steady wins the race, along with the greatest dedication and belief and forward thinking the whole IOC team has shown and continues to show day in and day out!

Long Live I/O Coin.

Also, i thought i'd never say this, but, PLEASE Do not sell out to Microsoft like some coins are doing, i am sure they will come knocking soon.

PS: Nice to see a team member from Digibyte here, Welcome 24hralttrade ! Happy 2 year Birthday for DGB, Good luck for the future.
