-snip- It is not possible for a TX to be "lost in limbo" for any amount of time.
The input no, the actual TX yes. An input is always either spent or unspent. If an unspent input is part of an unconfirmed TX that has been accepted by the nodes then for all intensive purposes it is "spent pending confirmation"
While this is true if it is known to all the nodes, a TX may not be known to all nodes. The one in question does not show on blockchain.info [1], blockr [2] nor on blockexplorer [3] which makes me think that very few nodes know about it. While the explorers are not important I also think the miningnodes do not know about it, thus it would be impossible to confirm. however if the TX does not confirm after 24 hours then the input will again be spendable.
Not if the client you are using "forget" it still can spend the input. Since the -rescan did not work, OPs bitcoin-core still has no idea it is actually able to spend the input of the missing TX. Yea, chill for the moment. a year or so ago, I "lost" a transaction, I just figured it would eventually work itself out. it took about a week, but it did... So, give it a couple days before freaking out..
But it was well propagated, wasnt it? It would not advice panicking either, but I also think that just waiting is not enough. re-scan didnot work! now im panicking!!! pleeaseee help. any suggestions?
I have read in the past that sometimes once is not enough. As I wrote above I dont think waiting is the way to go in your case. I personally would try at least one more -rescan because it does not take that much time. If that fails the next thing I would do is to launch with -reindex. This will take more time as you are rebuilding the data in the chainstate folder, which holds the information about your unspend outputs (see [4]). Please post the TX id.
Can't because it isn't showing under the "transactions" tab. Its probably lost in limbo. If the client that initially broadcasted it forgot about it and the blockchain explorers did not pick it up, its very likely that only a very few clients even know about this TX.

If I don't want some topics to show at "Show new replies to your posts." anymore is there anyway to do that?
No, use Watchlist like everybody (not entirely true) else so you can use "unwatch". It would be much easier to be able to do so, shame it isn't possible Now I have added all answered topic to my watch list and I will unwatch those I don't want to see anymore. And I'm so used to click "Show new replies to your posts." link that it will take long time to that I learn to click correct link Its just a little lower and the Watchlist is very powerfull. You can watch entire boards [1] and will find every new topic in your watch list. [1] https://bitcointalk.org/watch_board.php

I would at least try to -rescan successfully before panicking. Can someone guide me with that please?
You do not -rescan from console, but you launch bitcoin core with it. In any case shut down any running bitcoin-core first. in Windows you hit Win + R, enter c:\program files\bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe -rescan and hit ok. for Linux you open a terminal, enter bitcoin-qt -rescan and hit enter. I assume MacOS will work similar to Linux.

As of now it seems that this is just scam in the case of bitcoin.de. This is not the first attempt of this kind. The person trying to make money out of this wasn't able to provide any proof that this data is indeed what he claims it is.
Best regards Oliver

I only used GuiMiner with my GPU (which apparently is working for you) never with external hardware. Got it mining I had the wrong address for the miner. Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad I could help

In Germany its "Postbank" that suspends (or has been) accounts if you deposit to big exchanges. Its allways best to exchange bitcoin with cash.

I'm not sure what cpu/gpu mining is.
CPU (central processing unit) is the thing in your machine that does all the work. The GPU (graphical processing unit) is pretty much the same but specialized on graphics and thus better for certain tasks than your CPU. E.g. for rendinger computer games, hashing or mining bitcoin. I am using an S1
The S1 however is special purpose hardware (called ASIC) that is very good at a single task. This one is good at hashing sha256/mining bitcoin, it can not mine any other coin that is not also using sha256. E.g. it can not mine litecoin, because litecoin uses scrypt. with the software GUIminer in slush's pool and the popup window for the GUIminer has at the left on the bottom - shares:19 accepted (which changes)
Thats basically the number of tasks your machine has completed. and on the right is has 17.1 Mhash's (which changes between 16 T0 17) . I was guessing the 17.1 Mhash's if the speed, am I right and isn't that slow?
Yes MHash/s is the speed, but 17 MHash is something your CPU or an old/mobile GPU would get[1]. The S1 should be hashing @ ~180 000 MHash/s or 180 GHash/s. Thats why I asked whether you are sure that you are mining with the S1. Does the Guiminer actually know about the S1 and is it able to use it? Are you sure thats for the s1 sounds more like CPU/GPU mining.

found the post by stunna A quick sneak peak at one of our many giveaways we will be doing for Primedice 3 launch... ... The first person to unlock every achievement will receive a massive 25 BITCOIN And this is definitely not going to be our biggest giveaway either.. Stay tuned Achievements are related to number of bets, wagered, chat activity, referring players, profit etc. There's a total of 26 of them. They are definitely not impossible to achieve! I suspect it won't take long for someone to take the cake. I don't quite get it. The 25btc giveaway is cool but how does it relate to the PD signature campaign? It does not relate to the PD campaign, but to the "PD ref link in your signature" campaigns which are run -or at least attempted to run- by others.

Bitcoin.de / -ist 100% Safe?
-snip-
If anyone sees this please read this and share your opinion:
I'm toying around with the idea of having a set group of people who I've personally deemed are high quality posters to continue to get paid per post count and branching off the campaign to allow anyone to join on and off instantly and use a PD3 referral link which will automatically credit their account (I'd likely boost the referral rate to something like 20%+ for those not being paid per post)
I'm confident doing this would greatly cut down on forum spam, while the very high quality posters who I select would have the option to continue the campaign as it exists privately or swap to a referral based payment.
This isn't at all decided, so feel free to weigh in.
I like the idea. I said it earlier and I will say it again: you have to cut campaigners. The reason the PD signature is frowned upon by some members of the forum is because of the low quality posts of some of those having it. With the amount of people that are currently enrolled it is not possible to check them all as thoroughly as needed. Less campaigners means less work to check their post quality means less room to slip through with bad posts. At the same time those that you have to let go can work for themselves with the referal link. There are even some attempts to form groups of people that use the same referal link. I personally think the reason behind that might be the award for reaching all achievements, but they might as well be legit effords to spread referral bonuses. This might also work in a positive way elsewhere: on other forums, homepages, blogs, etc. -snip- ... and guys stop reminding him cause I like the way this campaign goes already, but if he does turn it to a fixed rate, it will just get abused even more, cause people will get paid 0.002 per post instead and he will make less exposure and pay a higher rate. plus you can buy shill accounts or make your own and with 200 posts he will lose for each member. people complaing of spam is not gonna stop, I notice we have people who just love to complain or jealous of others.
Stunna asked for feedback, hes going to get it. No need to complain about it. What are you afraid of anyway? Either you can stick with PD or not. Either way no big deal. There are other ways to make a little BTC on the side with your signature. I doubt Stunna will raise payment that much for those that he deems worthy to continue. .002 would be double what a Sr. gets now per post. There is no reason to double the rate. There is only one other campaign paying (yes they didnt pay out yet, but they have enough in escrow) more currently and its full. And their payment is only a little higher. Hand picked campaigners do not allow for "shill accounts" (I assume you are talking about alts here) because their posting behaviour would in most cases be very obvious. E.g. only posting 1 out of 4 weeks, but still beeing informed. People complaining about spam is not the problem IMHO, people get banned for spam is a problem if they have your signature. It sheds a bad light and while they say: there is no bad publicity, that is not true here.

My Account "Zedicus" has been hacked! I found the instructions to recover account by theymos and i sent him a signed message but have not heard back! Can someone contact a mod for me so they can disable my account so the hacker cant keep posting as me!! plz!!
Nope, only theymos (or can bad bear now too?) will restore your account and only if you can prove that its yours. Mind sharing the signed message?

Is 797 bytes really considered too large for a standard fee? If miners aren't processing that they are just being stingy to the detriment of the network.
No its not, its .0001 per kb and you are below 1 kb. -snip- Maybe yes Last time i send bitcoin with 8 output and default fee & 1511 bytes, take almost a hour to get 1 confirmation Maybe bitcoin server too busy to proceed your transaction 1511 however is over 1kb and the fee should have been .0002 There is also the age of the input that you spend, but I just assume that neither of you used mature coins. It would have made the TX go through faster anyway.
|
|
|
-snip- Doesn't seem to be confirmed yet right now either. It might have been the transaction size, which is 979 bytes. Perhaps a higher fee like 0.0005BTC or 0.001BTC would have made it confirm much quicker if this is an urgent deposit.
No, the fee is fine. .0001 per kb. Size is <1kb. Honestly, I've had transactions go 12 hours before confirming. They didn't even show on the network once, it was REALLY annoying but everyone assured me I just needed to wait. I do think it's sometimes a shortcoming of bitcoin but it did go through. Also if it never goes through it's my understanding there is a way to "cancel" the transaction so that you don't lose the money. So you'll be fine.
Thats probably due to bad propagation. If the miners do not know about your TX, they can not put it in a block. Depending on the client it will just stop broadcasting the TX (or not) so it will be forgotten (or not) and you can make a new one (or not).
