If BCH doesn't crash and burn on a technical level, which it very well might, then I think that there will be three stages:

1. For the next 2-4 days, people will have BCH and be trading it inside of exchanges, but will not be able to readily deposit or withdraw it because BCH blocks will be mined very slowly. This will cause a very inflated price on at least some exchanges.
2. Over the course of a few weeks after that, it will be driven absolutely into the ground as people dump their free BCH.
3. Then it will recover somewhat and hover between 0.001 to 0.01 BTC as a maybe slightly-above-average altcoin. Depending on how committed its supporters are, it could continue indefinitely similar to Litecoin or peter out after some time.

cash is not 'fungible by law' for the moment http://trilema.com/2017/again-with-the-money-laundering-bullshit/
bitcoin is the law

Those of you planning to trade the new altcoin for bitcoins, be careful not to harm your privacy in the process.

I, personally, think Bitcoin Cash is an elaborate scheme to link otherwise mindful bitcoiners to all of their addresses.

Take the necessary precautions.

See here for more explanation
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6p5439/bitcoincash_and_chain_analysis/dkxy1pg/

the lack of true fungibility will bite everyone in the arse sooner or later, no need to blame bitcoin cash.

... and there we have it. The first in the much predicted new round of attacks on bitcoin.

'oh that shit ain't fungible, see, so what we really need is a NEW bitcoin, let's call it BitcoinAnonymous', fork off from ghastly corecoin and rule the world ... anybody?'

No, fuck off, it's fungible and there's no taint or title in bitcoin.

Sometimes, I state facts, and sometimes, I render opinions. I try not to exaggerate, I don't make up facts, and I try to keep my conclusions rational. When challenged, I produce rationale for my statements. Sometimes, I even get things wrong, but I always try to be truthful.
...

Not always. Sometimes you list your own lies neatly for everybody to see:

9355  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Post your SegWit questions here - open discussion - big week for Bitcoin! on: July 31, 2017, 12:52:08 PM

- it is sold to open many 2nd layer applications, but if there is only one (related to bitcoin for outer world!) is crashing / scam you name it -> entire Bitcoin gets the shit in the world press you name it  - do we want to risk Bitcoins entire reputation because a stupid 2nd layer shit is failing hard? Who does professional due-diligence here ?

if that happened it would only be core's reputation that suffered, not bitcoin's in the long run.

Question: If BCC forks tomorrow then it will have the same difficulty height as the rest of bitcon, correct?

If so then why would it not be a vapor lock? If it's only worth 200 a coin, few miners would mine it (doing so means losing out on the reward from bitcoin chain) thus if 1/16th of the miners mined BCC it would take um... 32 weeks for the difficulty to reset along with transaction confirm times of 8 hours per block found. At best.

This sounds like a complete fail out of the box. What am I missing?

they fiddled with the difficulty adjust mechanism of btccash

How much of a 'tweak' did they do?

Can I fire up the KNC 550gh Jupiter Bitcoin Miner from 2013 again? (raring to go...not likely to move from doorstop status ...poor baby) Smiley

loads of miners have been emptying their sheds and dusting off their doorstops, claiming they want to support the proper btc network even if at a loss, secretly hoping bccash is worth mining...
you might be to mine able that shit at viabtc almost certainly for a loss. they might exit scam soon as well. glhf
9357  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 31, 2017, 12:30:21 PM
Ah ok, so this is not a fork of Bitcoin with a single tweak, this is a completely new coin a-la catcoin.

*munches on popcorn* Thank you.

C

yuh so many tweaks and deletions on their github. "de-core-ification" is all the rage ... again.

eek! I accidentally changed my payout address, since I was under minimum threshold for payout, thinking the payout would all go the new address. It reset my stats. Where can I find my old payout address so that I can continue mining on that one. I have ALOT of BTC addresses, so I am unsure which one it was.

I know technically I am in cryostasis but I'll just say this....

I thought we are all expecting a huge drop tomorrow? Why talk of ATH?? What am I missing?

Off to freeze myself again until this blows over

am bullish re ath because tomorrow's fork is just a fart in the wind. Markets will see nothing bad happened. Although it may linger on, this fork/fart longer than ideally.
also there will be a huge drop tomorrow - from 3600 to 3170...
