I think there's already some form of protection from that, though I don't know the specifics. I think it has to do with our payment addresses being in the actual list that we can NOT edit, and the one on our page just being "transparency." I could be misunderstanding this though.

Wow... I never thought 1500 posts would be below the top tier.
Send to 17mhZeyN3MnLifS1PsBZKmHPGvrW2L5VoL in 30 days, thanks.

The top tier was just added recently. It was 801+ (at the still 0.15).

Nice to see he's adding more though, Smiley.

Thank you!  Cheesy

I'm using webs for a few reasons:
- it's quick and easy to edit things with their site builder
- I'm not very clued up on any programming / coding language but know bits and pieces from a few lol
- Weebly which I was using kept taking down any Bitcoin related site I made Sad

But yeah, once/if I become more confident using html I would consider moving the site!
I recently bought a paid package from them for another project I'm doing but it means this one is kind of on hold for now but I have faith! Tongue

Got ya. I'm surprised a host would take down a site just because it's related to crypto currency. Especially when some big name people are even backing it.

A program like Dreamweaver may be a good idea if you are new to the web development side. There are also a lot of free alternatives as well, though I have never used any of them (I mostly just code by hand).
9364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining speed vs generated BTC on: May 26, 2013, 04:23:41 PM
Hello,

I'm kind of new to BitCoins. I haven't played with it in a year or so now and I was wondering about how much BTC you get at certain speeds. Say if you run a miner at 800 MH/s verses 5 GH/s etc.

I'm curious what your usual BTC gain per day is at certain speeds?

Thanks
vajje

There is variation. You can "guess" that you would get x amount multiplied by however high your hash rate is, but that is not always true.

Different pools will give different amounts. Even the same pool over an hour or two can fluctuate, depending on whether they are finding blocks and how many it is.

You really can't estimate how much you'll get, as basically every block is like the lottery. You could be hashing solo at only 100 MH/s and hit 500 blocks in a row, or you could be hashing in a pool at 80 TH/s and hit 0 blocks. By increasing your hash rate all you are really doing is increasing the # of lottery tickets you have.

I don't think you have a clue how real estate works. Please don't spread misinformation in my thread. Spend your time becoming informed instead of sounding stupid.

Actually, I'm unsure that you know how real estate works.  As far as that goes, I do know quite well how credit works - but in either case, it is your thread, and you're free to make any requests you want, however unlikely they may be.  But bear in mind that you are making a request - and a honking great big one at that.  If you can't or at least won't answer a legitimate question as to how you're gonna make it work, then skepticism as to the wisdom of your plan seems ever more justified.

If you want to be petulant and call people names, you're allowed to do that.  It won't help your cause though.

I wish you the best of luck in figuring out your mortgage.

This, times 1000.

When some people ask questions, it's usually for your own benefit. The more information you are willing to share, the more of a chance you have of someone actually working with you. Without even giving enough information, the majority of us write it off as being a bad idea automatically.

Hey, it's looking good!

Are you only using webs.com because you don't know how to use html? If not, you can find free hosts that you can host with using any domain you want (this is in relation to webs only allowing you to upgrade through them).
9367  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinAd - Free Coins every hour on: May 26, 2013, 12:09:39 PM
Should be working now.

Nice, it is! Thanks for the heads-up!

No, I'm wasn't asking how to make it, but how would an IRC server definitely take off?

I'm thinking the idea behind it (at least for me) would be that you can connect a mIRC client to multiple servers. So if you are already an IRC chatter you can have one window open for the rooms you usually visit, plus the new ones.
9369  Other / Archival / Re: Vircurex to remove all non-BTC trading pairs in days - POSTPONED! on: May 25, 2013, 10:13:48 PM
More or less you can still convert anything to anything, but if it is an alt to alt it requires two jumps:

Alt->BTC->NewAlt
And this makes sense to me, after all if there are too many weird exchange pairs, it wound't be a good thing neither for casual nor for power users...

It does make things "easier," but it also means you pay fees twice instead of just once.
9370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm confused on transactions....can you help? on: May 25, 2013, 07:28:57 PM
Prices can fluctuate even over a period of seconds. It sounds to me, though, like this is a situation of using different exchange rates. If you have questions I think the best person to ask would be whoever you sent the funds to. Explain what you know about it to them. They may be able to clarify things.
9371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying DevCoin off of Newbies.. on: May 25, 2013, 07:21:53 PM
You are offering 0.000249 USD per 1,000
Going rate (people with BUY offers) is 0.000170  per 1.

So you're offering to buy 1,000 for the price of only 1.5?

You're trying to get newbies to give you a 1000:1.5 profit margin. That's ridiculous.
9372  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bter.com offline? on: May 25, 2013, 04:57:57 PM
Works fine in the US for me. It did take a few seconds to load though.
9373  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just had 39.70 bitcoins stolen from blockchain account! on: May 25, 2013, 04:55:06 PM
That's why you shouldn't have used an online wallet

Honestly, I think offline wallets are just as dangerous for most people. If they aren't able to keep their online passwords secure, I don't see how they will be able to go through the offline security.

I am similarly annoyed by STEAM, but its prices are so alluring I often find myself clicking "Buy" before I stopped thinking.

People must have noticed this, but I know with Steam their discounts are unfairly biased against indie developers, if there are indie developers out there now I'd much rather pay them directly in Bitcoin and without any DRM whatsoever. You see it all the time, they constantly discount the indie games and then put on tiny discounts for the mainstream games, the only time I see them make a move to discount the bigger games is if there is a Christmas special and even then if it's a really popular title they know will sell like with Skyrim they'll hardly touch it.

You don't ever actually own these games and you can't have them stored on your hard drive or USB stick forever, so you're basically paying full price in order to rent and people don't even bloody realise it. I don't know about the situation with consoles because I haven't bought a console since the PS2 but I'm just as suspicious of them.

I imagine most of that has just as much to do with the developer as it does Steam. In order to even think about selling a digital game they have to somehow ensure that users are not going to upload it everywhere they can and give it away for free, or else publishers probably would never give them rights. Same with prices. The mainstream games are going to have much higher, and more strict royalties. I wouldnt be surprised if they had to get permission from the name brand publishers before putting their games on sale at all.

I'm thinking they would work with the developers too. It wouldn't make sense to list my game for $19.99 and then have Steam forcefully change it to $2.99 for a sale, only giving a dollar or two per sale they make. If I listed it and they wanted to work with me to find a good sale price, then I would have no issues coming up with one.

Will the value of BTC rise or fall if integrated by into PayPal?

I don't know but I would avoid Paypal. They have the most shady business practices I've ever seen.

One day some random person sent me a "refund" for $3k or so and I reported it to Paypal because I had never purchased anything. They ended up locking my account (and holding my legitimate funds) for 18 months while they "evaluated" what happened, and then they said they were removing the funds and keeping them. I could have just as easily kept the money for myself but because I reported the error I got screwed. They gave back my money after 18 months, but that was ridiculous.

Yes Grin

Forgot to say in the other post but thanks! That was really nice to do, Smiley.

Now then... I just noticed the title of the thread has changed. Now it says "suspicious link removed" instead of the web address.
9377  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CoinCloud ~ The All in one place for cryptos ~ www.[Suspicious link removed] on: May 25, 2013, 01:34:53 PM
Made, 0.09 bitcoin with blockchain's "send shared".

unrelated but I'm interested Tongue - tell me more ole' wise one!
It's a way to send bitcoins from a wallet to another one anonymously https://blockchain.info/en/wallet/send-shared

I suggest you to buy the .net domain with these money (the .com is bought from someone else).

I had to read through your posts a couple times to finally get it. I was like "how did you earn BTC from using the send shared?" You meant that you donated using it, :p.
9378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just had 39.70 bitcoins stolen from blockchain account! on: May 25, 2013, 01:10:31 PM
Did a test on blockchain.info OTP and they are 1 time use only.

What does this mean, exactly? That once you log in, the mechanism (erm, I guess the "confirmation") changes?
9379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CoinCloud ~ The All in one place for cryptos ~ www.[Suspicious link removed] on: May 25, 2013, 01:07:03 PM
Good idea, but... you used a free hosting and a .tk domain Sad

We haven't all had such luck with their crypto's tripling in value..
Once I have some spare cash I'll throw it into this project!

Webs seems semi decent for a non-expert coder like myself but who still wants to contribute and .tk's are short and free!
Feel free to donate to speed the process up? Tongue

Avoid .tk. Seriously, it's going to cause more problems than it's worth, due to the way most hosts view them (they are notorious for phishing and scams). If you want to go with a free short domain do it with .co.cc. It's a little more awkward, but it is well worth it.

When you can, move to a .com. Usually you can register for $1 on sales.
9380  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: unconfirmed bitcoin transaction for 2 days on: May 25, 2013, 01:04:25 PM
The transaction is too large for a 0.0005 BTC fee. It is 17KB and the recommended fee is 0.0001 BTC per KB so a fee of about 0.0016 BTC would have been correct.

I think it will confirm but it could take 24 hours or more.

Just wanted to correct something here. You said 0.0001 BTC per KB is the "recommended fee." I made a transfer with that fee (it was a 7KB transaction so ended up being 0.0007 BTC) and it took a little over 3 days still. So I think it's recommended to add more than that.
