941  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: May 25, 2016, 11:49:38 PM
I personally think it would be even more popular, since people would be able to convert fiat to Bitcoin and hold them without having to worry about it losing value.
It would be used more as a real payment method than it is now.

agree. people are afraid of the non-stable price that will risk their money to lost. besides, bitcoin is easy to be used, so it's possible to bitcoin to be more popular
Price instability in bitcoin price attract more people to bitcoin and hence more buying and usage. If bitcoin price were stable it would have been much attractive investment option and people would not have bought it

It might become uninteresting for the speculators. I agree that most people buying bitcoins today are speculators and long-term investors. But what about other (For eg. those looking it bitcoin as a pure payment means)?
942  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency on: May 25, 2016, 11:46:25 PM
if you mean reserve currency than no,never, how you can imagine that, reserve currency owned and manipulated by group of chinise miners

If you look at the amount of USD held by China and their ability to crash that market, it is much more than the power held by Chinese miners. So I guess the world has learnt to live with it.
943  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of the paper money on: May 22, 2016, 01:18:09 AM
I could see in the future that only criminals, tax evaders and money launderers use paper money. There's really no need for it 99.9% of the time unless you're doing it for my reasons listed above.

Anybody who doesn't have immediate access to the traditional banking system would still use paper money.

944  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin hit $600 this year or down to $200? on: May 22, 2016, 01:14:24 AM
Looking at my charts these days, it would seem more likely a price increase towards $600 than a fall to $200, but there is a great volatility in this currency that prevent us to foresee with complete accuracy its future behavior, although I have read some analysts predicting a potential retrogression to the $200 frontier.

I expect a lot of support at the $300 level. It will be a very tough level to break.
It is more likely that Bitcoin will stagnate at these levels, rather than go down.
945  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s Debt Bomb: No One Really Knows the Payload on: May 22, 2016, 01:13:02 AM
This doesn't even include the so called 'shadow economy'.
I would expect panic in the shadow economy before there are defaults in traditional debt.
946  Economy / Speculation / Re: 460 before 12/4 ? on: May 21, 2016, 08:30:51 AM
Today's bitcoin price is 460 dollars again. It seems the price has not gone any where. It is very stable at the moment.

The price is actually going up. Its average price is higher than 5 moths ago. So it is very encouraging.

But the price did not increase over 2 months ago. It is still lower than $440. I thought it should be over $500 now.

It has been a long time since Bitcoin's price increased month on month.
Now everybody is talking only about the long term potential of Bitcoin.
947  Economy / Economics / Re: Are electric cars bad for the oil industry? on: May 21, 2016, 08:29:14 AM
Electric cars perhaps bring a more serious problem of contamination in the future because of the chemicals its use on theirs batteries. Or not? About question  I think that yes because its dont need fuel so oil industry is affected.

Some industries are working on recycling the batteries, i have read news articles about nissan studying to use the recycled car-batteries to power home-batteries.
Generally speaking electronic cars seem to be more environment friendly but there may be some hidden aspects of them that is not clear now.

It seems to be an accepted fact that electric cars are better in terms of pollution compared to fossil fuel cars.
If there are uses in contamination due to batteries, it is up to the government to form laws about the safe disposal.
948  Economy / Economics / Re: The Halving - Good or Bad for Bitcoin? on: May 21, 2016, 08:20:17 AM
Imo I think it is good for bitcoin hope the price will doubled
i dont think that halving will double the price of bitcoin, all i know that halving will only increased the price but it will not double the price of bitcoin.

A lot of buying has happened because people expect the price to increase.
Now we just have to wait and see if those people are disappointed.
949  Economy / Economics / Re: What if US Dollar Crashes? on: May 16, 2016, 09:54:59 AM

The chance is really small that the US Dollar can crash and that is because it is still many used so that is nice for the dollar itself and you see of course that Bitcoin is getting more used and that is nice.
But one thing that I can say for sure is that Bitcoin will be the most used payment method in the future.

Yes, a dollar crash is possible but US can recover it also in a span of months. When these crisis happens, its also an opportunity for investors, as the economy recovers, they also gain.

When people talk of a crash here, they mean a permanent crash where the dollar is replaced by some other currency as the world's reserve currency.
In that case, a lot of turbulence can be expected until a new currency becomes the accepted favoured currency.

950  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going Up to 500? on: May 16, 2016, 09:51:46 AM
The price seems to be stable now. A this moment all we need is a up to 500 and panic buying will do the rest. I hope it will happen before the halving though..
It's basically waiting for a whale to kick things off by starting to bump the price very close to $500 and others will do the rest as it will trigger a chain reaction of people panic buying the price above $500 at some point before the block halving.

We don't need a whale to carry us forward; we can get there slowly and steadily.
A whale's push might only last until another whale decides to pull us down.
951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IPL(Indian Premium Leauge) t20 Discussion & Prediction on: May 16, 2016, 09:50:13 AM
Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore with minor difference both teams are same.I have thought that Kolkata will try hard to get points from this match to occupy top position on the chart. It will happen as it is playing also on its own home ground which have own impact on the result. This is what I am thinking and going to pick in this match.

If RCB's batting clicks, Kolkatta will face a tough fight in this match.
Kohli and DeVilliers have been in sublime form this series.
952  Economy / Economics / Re: Factors That Make One Cryptocurrency Worth More Than Another on: May 16, 2016, 09:47:44 AM
The factors that matter are

1) Dev team: A trusted dev team that has provided a solid code for a long time and has delivered good innovations
2) Network effect: how popular the network is

That's all. And Bitcoin is #1 because it has the best dev team and the best network effect.

Bitcoin has the best development team?
If it has such a great team, why is everybody still quarreling about the block size?
953  Economy / Economics / Re: Is silver a good store of value? on: May 15, 2016, 03:10:08 PM
Right now it probably is. In the future we may not know. As time goes on the need to store money in precious ores are coming to and end.

Even if this does change in the future, the change won't be abrupt.
I don't expect precious metals to lose value significantly overnight.
954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IPL(Indian Premium Leauge) t20 Discussion & Prediction on: May 15, 2016, 10:52:37 AM
Sunrisers Hyderabad will play today match with positive mind and try to keep it on the top of the points table and this kind of motivation will be good thing and i will place my bet on Sunrisers there because i don't think Kings XI Punjab have any chance to defend this match.

With Vijay getting out early, Sunrisers Hyderabad have an edge.
Murali Vijay has been a star performer for Punjab this season.
955  Economy / Speculation / Re: 0.01 BTC June 1 Prediction Competition! on: May 15, 2016, 10:47:31 AM
When does the contest end?
You are going to have people posting until 31-May in this thread.  Tongue
956  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin halving how will it affect price? on: May 15, 2016, 10:45:44 AM
Halving may actually lower the price, and even make some real damage. If price does not go up, mining power may decrease. This will lead to longer time between blocks since it takes a long time to adjust. Longer time between blocks means lower capacity on the network, which in turn might lead to large backlogs being formed, especially if somebody spams it again. That's not what bitcoin needs in a time with some strong emerging competition

it's clear that the halving will lower the price, that's why you need an greater demand to face it, without this not only the miners will not have their profit, but the network will be insecure

How is this clear. If the prices goes from 400 to 250 it would not make any sense to mine. Even for the large mining farms.
With other words mining has become futile and the network won't be secure anymore.

i means it lower the value of the profit for the miners, so they need an increase in demand to sustain the mining activity for the halving

It lowers the block reward.
Demand for bitcoins is in dollar value. People buy $1000 value of bitcoins; they don't buy 2.5 bitcoins irrespective of the price.
Hence if demand remains the same, supply decreases, price of bitcoin increases.
Miners still might make decent profits.
957  Economy / Economics / Re: If bitcoin price is $10.000, will fiat be worthless? on: May 15, 2016, 10:42:17 AM
Supply and demand, bitcoin price may reach 10k but its useless if merchants don't accept bitcoin.

Why is it useless if merchants don't accept it?
I can just sell it for $10k and give the merchants fiat.  Tongue
958  Economy / Economics / Re: What percentage of people on Earth will own Bitcoin by 2020 on: May 15, 2016, 10:40:50 AM
I think they will be 2-5% . we are talking about 140 millions person at least and reaching this percentage will be a good progress for bitcoin

China and India have a huge role to play in this.
If Bitcoin adoption takes off in these 2 countries, you can easily have this figure crossing 5%.
959  Economy / Speculation / Re: 0.01 BTC June 1 Prediction Competition! on: May 15, 2016, 02:40:44 AM
$490 is my guess.
You should probably say that guesses should be a round number (in $) and the person who posts first wins!
960  Economy / Economics / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Will Replace Dollar Soon? on: May 15, 2016, 02:39:22 AM
I don't think that it's can be real even sometimes, dollar is so strong currency, bitcoin can't even compete with dollar so we can't talk about replacment and other stuff.

As quoted replacing of dollar is really a hard thing. Only the increase in adoption can be experienced. This increase in user adoption will help bitcoin to grow as a additional currency.

That is true. When there are hundreds of currencies around, bitcoin can be another one.
Its adoption rate will determine how many people in this world favour it.
