941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit agreement with >80% miner agreement. on: May 22, 2017, 02:27:04 PM
Has been any response from Core already? I don´t understand the euphoria of Charlie Shrem in his messages a few hours ago. With what has been announced so far, the solution to the conflict is still far away. It´s true that it´s a small approach when compared to previous positions but I don´t think that bitcoin can advance without taking Core into account. Highly announcing this agreement, given its terms, doesn´t make sense.
942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Offline Wallets Vs Online Wallets on: May 22, 2017, 10:23:45 AM
I don´t recommend online wallets because you don´t have control of your coins. At any time someone can guess your credentials and hack your account, the service can suffer a robbery or even close and leave with your funds. Some time ago it was posted a leak with accounts at blockchain.info, addresses and passwords, it´s easy to suffer losses with online wallets. The only case in which I would use them would be for very small amounts that you can afford to lose, to send between the exchanges if you do trading and things like that.

944  Other / Off-topic / Re: Technology and Human life..... on: May 21, 2017, 07:18:20 PM
Its true that technology has taken us to that point where we can even think of impossible but there are many counter-effects that human race is  facing after this advancement in technology ......  wars , global warming , terrorism , time for family etc ........ Do u really think that technology is hurting us more than benefiting us HuhHuh?

The capitalistic model wants to maximize profits and the ideal situation for a company is to get all the profits without any workers at all. As the technological capabilities increase, those who cannot get skills that a machine cannot do will lose their job. Ultimately, this is a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's only a matter of time before the technology is there to replace your job. If your job is complicated, you may have several decades until your retirement. There are some exceptions to this rule, like politicians, hookers, dentists, but I think 99% of the people do not fall within that range. On the long term capitalism cannot sustain itself because there are no longer people with money to buy the goods and services.

Advances in robotics will produce an even greater effect on work than the industrial revolution. On the other hand life expectancy is greater, we live longer and we are more people on the planet. With more population and less work, the work that remains will be more precarious, with lower wages and worse conditions. Because of this in countries like Finland have been approved the Universal Basic Income and others such as Netherlands and Switzerland are studying.

Apart from this, technological advances make life easier for us even though Hollywood is obsessed with making us hate technology or scientific progress.
945  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin sucks ass but price still rises- how come on: May 21, 2017, 05:59:18 PM
Bitcoin has become a pain in the ass latley, transactions are stuck forever even with high transaction fees however the price still keeps rising, why is this

is this a bubble and bitcoin will collapse to pre 1000 again or will it continue to go up?

whats there to do with these transaction fees to be able to send bitcoin

If the price is rising with these problems, imagine where it would be if they were solved. I guess there's a lot of money coming into the bitcoin and altcoins market lately, there are new people who are entering this world now and surely many of these new investors are people with a lot of money, that is, whales. It´s possible that for these people there is not much difference between paying 20 cents or 5 dollars in fees and they have no problem waiting a little for their transactions. For ordinary people it´s more annoying, especially to make micropayments or send small amounts of money, but not for them. Also, if there are people who are buying as a store of value, they will not have problems with paying slightly higher fees either.
946  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info's default fee setting is too low? on: May 21, 2017, 05:04:38 PM
The situation is a bit paradoxical, we all complain about the slowness of the network to perform the transactions, everyone complains because the fees are higher but as the network is congested everyone pays more fees for their transaction to go faster and thus contribute to the fees continue to rise, and meanwhile the miners are happy getting more profit. It´s not surprising that some miners want to keep things as they are.
947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin should be decentralized even further on: May 21, 2017, 12:53:24 PM
The question of decentralization is not so much about a country but a company, Bitmain. There are other companies that could establish themselves in China and compete with them. Anyway, with the rise of bitcoin price may be companies in other parts of the world that could consider investing in bitcoin mining and in this way the mining power would be more distributed.
948  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 21, 2017, 12:26:52 PM
The question is that bitcoin is not the only coin that is rising, the main altcoins are having huge rises as well, it seems as if it was the big party of the cryptocoin and nobody would want to miss their piece of cake. This doesn´t seem to be a momentary hype but something that has come to stay. And this taking into account that there is still a way to go in terms of adopting bitcoin and solving its scalability problems.
949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is the first mainstream CNBC video in defense of bitcoin on: May 21, 2017, 12:52:08 AM
To Separate bitcoin from the ramsonware attack is normal. It´s true that before it was given a worse image from the media, partly by propaganda but also by misinformation. With time bitcoin is becoming more known, there are companies and banks that are interested in blockchain technology and cryptocoins, their use expands globally and this causes greater interest and knowledge, and the media are better informed. Furthermore, the old propaganda no longer makes sense seeing how advances bitcoin in countries like Japan.
951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people are asking you about Bitcoin now? on: May 20, 2017, 08:59:16 PM
I´ve been asked by two friends. One asked me about the price increase, he asked me about Bitcoin and for cryptocoins and he was interested, especially when I explained him some of the possibilities of bitcoin like use it to send money to other people in other parts of the world or to pay in stores when the adoption of bitcoin is majority. The other person who asked me did it by ramsonware attack, he asked me why they required to be paid in bitcoin.
952  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Indian markets are leading with ~$400 gap. Arbitrage trading possibilities on: May 20, 2017, 08:27:05 PM
Indian market unocoin sells bitcoins approximately for $2470 and we can sell there for $2380 and bitstamp is right now trading at $1985.
I did see people were arbitrage trading with Korean exchange some times back, now Indian exchange offers similar opportunity. Plan up to gain easy and sure-shot profits.
Thank for this information, many of us trading will do research on what you just post now and if there is probability of arbitrage trade. $400 different is enough to cover exchangers and banking fees. Indians also have a very wide opportunity for other bitcoin trading, like margin, buying and hold and sltcoins flipping.

Yeah, the difference is pretty good. But only Indian citizen can get account in places like Unocoin since they need government issued verification to buy/sell.

I have an Unocoin account, but I dont know where to buy BTC for the actual trading cost. Can someone help me with that? Some place that sells BTC for Paypal or Debit card for people in other countries and without much verifications.

There is a website called Virwox where people buy bitcoin with paypal. They actually buy Linden $ (SLL) and then sell it for Bitcoin. They charge high rates but but it´s worth it at the end if the gap is still so large. Another option is Localbitcoins but there sellers usually ask for many verifications.
953  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What is the best bitcoin wallet now? on: May 20, 2017, 06:24:21 PM
I think Mycelium is the easiest and most interesting option because it allows you to choose the type of fees you are going to pay before each transaction. Mycelium allows you to choose between four transaction types, high priority, normal, economical and low priority. If you want to make an urgent transaction you can choose high priority although you will pay a lot higher fees. If you want to save money on fees and don´t mind waiting you can choose economical. However, by choosing normal, they tend to be fast transactions because the wallet calculates the necessary fees.

I am remembering now the Year 2000 problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2000_problem. I wonder if something will happen when bitcoin reaches $2000. Miners shouting down, blockchain broken, the end of the world and other Roland Emmerich´s apocalyptic visions.  Cheesy

956  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 18, 2017, 05:33:03 PM
This year could become remembered as the Great Fee Bubble of 2017.

With the number of unconfirmed rising rapidly now, and fees up above $1 and rising, a lot of Bitcoin could become locked out circulation, artificially shorting its supply. Even for those who wait hours and days for their transaction to go through - having the option to panic sell Bitcoin right now, without risking holding coin on an exchange for extended period of time, isn't really possible. This reduces selling pressure. The bubble would peak shortly after a scaling solution is reached (I think one will be - too much has been invested in Bitcoin to let another coin take to the top spot).

Bitcoins stuck in pending transactions are not out of circulation, in fact thery are in circulation. Anyway I don´t think these coins can affect the market. Buys and sells are made in exchanges. The network congestion can affect the adoption if it last too long but not necessarily the price, not in vain, despite the problems that bitcoin still has, its advantages are still greater than its disadvantages.
957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A serious obstacle for bitcoin's popularity on: May 15, 2017, 04:30:40 PM
I get than some people are put off by large, still growing fees and long confirmation times. I get it. I am angry sometimes too.

You need to understand:

1. Bitcoin is the biggest crypto with the largest user base. Other altcoins might be faster because: no one is using them and/or no one has incentive to spam their network.
2. Bitcoin can be better, it can be upgraded, both by on-scaling update and by growing off-chain networks.
3. Bitcoin may not be the fastest or the cheapest way to send money, but it is the greatest investment of our generation so far.
Valid point. Some alts may be fast because only a very few would be using them. That does not mean that they are better than  bitcoin. It has to be accepted that bitcoin has lost one of its salient feature fast transaction at  a low price. Bit still it has many other important features and it would be continuosly supported by people.

The point is that if you want to exchange to local currency like OP made, you have to use Bitcoin because it is the easiest coin to change for being the most popular. If one day there were the option to change local currency to an altcoin, many people would use the altcoin and so the fees would raise and it would collapse too and then everyone would go back to Bitcoin because the fees would have lowered.
958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As much as I like BTC... on: May 15, 2017, 04:11:14 PM
Common sense says there will be a solution and that it´s a matter of time. In my opinion this solution should go through the application of segwit in a short time. It is the most supported option by the community and the safest option as the other option is showing security problems. The logical thing would be that segwit were activated and this way bitcoin can begin to solve its scalability problems
959  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 15, 2017, 03:54:16 PM
I don´t find an objective reason for this price decline except speculation, maybe sell for take profit, buy altcoins, sell, take profits and buy bitcoin again. The ETF issue I don´t think anyone had any hope for it. The other time it didn´t have as much impact, it is true that there was a drop but then almost instantly it had a rebound up again.
960  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC ETF SEC APPROVED on MAY 15th on: May 15, 2017, 02:03:41 PM
The other time there was more expectation but now I don´t think that anbody is really waiting for an approval, for this reason I don´t think that there will be a remarkable impact on the price. The only thing that makes this review is to provide some hope that it could be approved in the future.
