941  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: January 11, 2024, 01:31:35 AM
By nature, women are risk averse, they have this in built in their DNA, they prefer to avoid or minimize exposure to risk. So I don't think that they will be successful gamblers if they don't want to take that risk and instead be as conservative as they can.
That is exactly the reason why I think women are better gamblers than men. They are less likely to become impulsive, since they are risk averse, so there are less chances they are going to become problem gamblers. To be prone taking risks isn't an assurance of being a successful gambler. In many cases it just means the person can't self-regulate himself and don't know when to stop. That is actually a very dangerous trait someone carries.

Women can be successful gamblers just by being long term players without compromising and losing control over their personal and family's finances. Successful gambler isn't exactly who achieves profit, otherwise we could consider only a very small percentage of gamblers to be successful, rather a successful gambler is someone who manages playing casually, but never exceedind the limits stipulated by them before the gambling session started.
942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ? on: January 10, 2024, 10:51:59 PM
Hardly possible. Getting retirement money from a regular 9-5 which is inarguably way better than gambling your whole life away is practically impossible nowadays already, what more would it make of the very thing that relies upon sheer luck? I mean if you're looking for retirement from getting gambling winnings might as well wish you have wings to fly up from where your head's probably at right now.
To work decades of your life for an average wage retirement once you reach your 60s or 70s years old doesn't look great either, but that is what is disponible for most of us, and besides this alternative there is none. Gambling isn't an alternative, anyway. As you said, it's nearly impossible to achieve retirement through gambling.

Here's one thing that I would like to let you know. No one gets retirement money from gambling their whole savings away, and no one who gambles ever retire. I've seen people old enough to be considered ultra-senior citizens still muster the last of their strength to crank the slot machine's lever, why? Beats me honestly, but I digress. The thing is that you'd spend so much money trying to reach that retirement money goal you're looking for that you're practically just better off saving that money instead and finding a decent job so you don't have to rely on other people's fortune to survive until your retirement. There's no such thing as getting retirement money from gambling, as even those who win literal hundreds of millions of dollars from lotteries statistically lose their shit (and by shit I mean money) in 4-5 years because of their subpar financial literacy. It's just the way things go. If you want to find the capability to retire you'd never see it in the gambling world.
Yes, someone on his 20s or 30s years old is very likely to waste not only his days, but also his whole patrimony attempting to grow it through gambling for a retirement along the years. I've also seen some people who are now around 50 years old and have never built anything solid in their lives, because all the money they make goes to alcohol, drugs or gambling at local shops. They may complain about several factors and aspects of their lives which prevented them from going further, but the reality is that they didn't even try to change for better.

And I really believe these people have tendencies of thinking they would win big from gambling at some point, and that would be a life changer, but for most people it won't happen, so by watching their examples, we have to adopt more solid and concrete decisions for ourselves, sticking to a regular 9-5 job and trying to make investments along the years, so we can boost our retirement later.
943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does it looks responsible as woman telling husband you gamble? on: January 10, 2024, 04:57:13 PM
The point is my husband doesn't know that i have been secretly gambling and involving myself with gambling discussions and the rest, So, this morning when i woke something in me keeps telling me i should let him know to understand my involvement  to practice gambling.

Does this worth telling him or not please i need you collective ideas.
As I understand the concept of marriage and mutual trust which it involves, I think there shouldn't be secrets between husband and wife, especially regards activities they are practing in their routines. I think you would be bothered if your husband was doing something in secret and you didn't know... So the same is valid for him regards you. "Don't do unto others what you don't want done unto you"*. Treat them as you wished to be treated. Think about it and you will reach the answer you are looking for. It's already inside you. Just need to find it now.

944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woes of gambling on: January 09, 2024, 09:46:11 PM
Take casino games for example especially jackpot casino games there is no way you can tell me that all of them are structured in such a way that they randomly always make money for the house
Results are random, having their legitimacy ensured by provably fair mechanism. If the casino doesn't have this feature, avoid it. However, there is something else you must take into consideration: casinos also have a house edge playing on their favour on long run. You are never playing with equal chances against them (50% vs. 50%), rather they are always one step ahead, usually with something around 51% or 52% against 49%-48% for you. For that reason, you might have the perception results aren't random, because they are always profiting on long term. Results are indeed random, but the house edge factor prevents you from making long term progress at casino games.

if you ask me gambling is a fraud that has been used to trick people into believing that their choices matter it does not everyone that gambles is just there to make money for the casino unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about human nature 💔💔💔
Well, if a gambler doesn't know how casinos work, especially from the mathematical point of view, it's not casino's fault at all. The requirement for every activities you are going to execute in your life is to, first and foremost, understand how it basically works, what you can expect from it, what the risks are. You always have a choice, you aren't forced to gamble. So make your choice wisely based on concrete evidences and decisions which you won't regret later.
945  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 09, 2024, 07:58:27 PM
He said when you keep trying luck every day you stand the chance not to miss your luck of winning, he also made reference to few people around our locality who won outrageous Money within 31 Dec to 1 January 2024, asking if I knew how often those people keep trying for them to have the winning they got.
The question is, does he have money to gamble everyday? Won't gambling everyday compromise his finances, daily expenses and long term goals? If the answer for the first question is yes and for the second is no, then he can gamble everyday without any issues. However, his personal situation isn't shared by every other gamblers in general. Each person has their own limits, and these limits must be always respected and taken into consideration when deciding to gamble or not.

My question is do you think gambling every day is better? From his reasoning and points of narrations.
I don't think to gamble everyday is a good idea, but that is from my personal point of view, considering what it's good for myself. For others, it might be benefical to gamble a little everyday, who knows... In your friend's case, I don't think he should do this in a daily basis, because clearly he is deluded by how gambling works, since he believes the more frequently you play, the more chances you have of not missing a lucky winning day.

Luck doesn't work like this. Actually, we don't know how it works with assurance. So don't put high expectations on it, neither spend a long time of your life persuing goals which fully or mostly rely on luck to succeed.
946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Brasileirão 2024 - Brazilian Championship Serie A on: January 09, 2024, 07:19:54 PM
Is it too early to say Palmeiras will win once again? Cheesy

Betting houses are considering Flamengo as the favorite to win Brasileirão 2024. Palmeiras comes in second place and Atlético-MG in third. They might know something we don't, but it seems unreasonable to put Flamengo as favorite when Palmeiras remains unbeatable and getting stronger season after season. There aren't significant changes in Palmeiras team to consider they shouldn't be the favorite anymore.

They have proven to deliver a stable performance even in very unfavourable and uncertain conditions, like it happened last year with Botafogo dominating the champioship for a long time. Despite this fact, Palmeiras didn't get unsettled and bounced back in the end.
947  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto: a place where everyone makes money, but few secure it on: January 09, 2024, 07:02:27 PM
It happens because this is a volatile environment, which connects the whole world together. At same time there are many earnings opportunities involved, there are also many risks like scammers, security flaws, manipulation, speculation, besides a wide variety of coins and tokens to invest, what can make very difficult the decision of choosing for which of them to go. Also, the greed factor plays a big role, since investors seem to never be satisfied with the profit they have already made, so they keep risking for more. Inevitably at some point they end losing everything, especially when investing in uncertain altcoins which promise high unrealistic returns.

Even the experienced investors struggle in this market, because there isn't a certain recipe to follow in order to achieve considerable profits. We are constantly risking ourselves in a daily basis here. It's a wild land, like a gold rush, where there can be treasures in the end, but there can be also death and pain. We never know what is our fate until we reach the end of the line.

To raise our success chances, we have to stick to Bitcoin investment, holding our coins in safe hardware wallets and hoping prices to skyrocket on long term. Again, it's not the assurance of success, but it's a strategy to maximize our chances, even though outstanding profitability is unlikely to happen again futurely through Bitcoin. That is, it doesn't look feasible for BTC to return us something like x100 or x1000 anymore. On the other hand, altcoins are, if you pick the right ones at the beginning, before they get hyped. What should be understood is that slight chances of high profits come followed by huge risks...
948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Blockchain Games Revolutionize the Gaming Industry? on: January 09, 2024, 06:32:20 PM
When we talk about blockchain games, the most important factor we must pay attention to are the games themselves, and not exactly the technology or cryptocurrency operating behind them to make the financial transactions involving the games.

You may have a top notch crypto project proposing to revolutionize the gaming industry, but if nobody is willing to play the games they promote, it's just not going to work. Games have to be addicting, exciting, popular and bring some innovative concepts in order to encourage potential players to join on long run. To make ripoffs of popular mmorpgs will just work (probably) on short run, for hype and speculative reasons, meaning it's not revolutionazing anything.

We have already seen this before with several blockchain games. On the other hand, I believe the opportunity of making something new and bigger always exist and it's pretty possible it comes from a crypto project, because many people nowadays resumed their lives to playing computer and smartphone games. Their lives are passing, and they are spending (or wasting) their whole time on this activity, so naturally it's fair and desirable they make some income from it to survive...

Games aren't solely entertainment hobbies anymore, like they used to be decades ago, when people seeked games to relief from daily stress. Now they are integral part of people's routines. Actually, that is how the gaming industry revolutionized the world. What comes next is just a consequence of this revolution.
949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Number of Merchants Accepting BTC Payments Surged by 174% in 2023 on: January 09, 2024, 06:16:04 PM
But in Africa although it's one continent wherein there are a huge explosion or growth as far as bitcoin usage, only few are accepting it same as Asia.
That is what I observed and thought intriguing. Personally, my first assumption when following bitcointalk forum and observing the userbase of crypto related sites, my conclusion is that Bitcoin is much likely to be stronger and more popular in African and Asian countries, because there are lots of people from these continents around, while even though I see people from American and European countries present on the community as well, they seem to be less in numbers. However, when we check businesses which accept BTC as currency, the reality is the opposite.

Now I don't know anymore if it was just my personal impression, or if the point is that Africans and Asians are really more into crypto industry than everyone else, although they don't have where to spend their coins and tokens at local businesses.
950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Number of Merchants Accepting BTC Payments Surged by 174% in 2023 on: January 08, 2024, 02:03:46 PM
Quote
The increased crypto regulatory frameworks around the world have significantly helped in the mass adoption of Bitcoin, altcoins, and the wider Web3 ecosystem. For instance, El Salvador has recorded more merchants accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment since the country adopted the flagship coin as the legal tender alongside the United States dollar.

...

According to market data collected by BTC Map, merchants accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment experienced a 174 percent surge in 2023 to around 9,926 as of this report.

...

From the map provided by BTC Map, it is evident that most of the merchants accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment are concentrated around Latin America, North America, and Europe. Fewer merchants in Africa and Asia accept Bitcoin as a form of payment.
Bitcoin Adoption: Number of Merchants Accepting BTC Payments Surged by 174% in 2023

Regulations are claimed to be helping to increase Bitcoin adoption by businesses as payment method around the world. Is this for real, or are regulations just forcing such businesses to officially accept Bitcoin, although they could be already accepting it informally before the approval of such regulations?

Despite the raised percentage being really expressive (174%), it doesn't translate in great numbers when we conclude there are only 9926 businesses accepting Bitcoin as payment method in the world.

In your opinion, why do you think more businesses accepting Bitcoin as payment method are concentrated in American and European continents?
951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: January 08, 2024, 01:51:16 PM
You must be a genius to think that you can predict the algorithm of casino games, that shit is too complex for any human brain, maybe if you manage to open your sixth sense? Can you? I guess not.

Why are people even trying this hard to beat the impossible? Casinos game providers are not idiots, even if a vulnerability exists in any casino games they don't stay for long before they get fixed up, why not work on yourself and don't get too attached to gambling?

You can't always beat the casino, that's why when wins find you, quitting is the next thing to do, you can't beat casinos at their games, unless you are some powerful being from another planet.
Yes, the only way to take advantage of the casino's algorithm would be through a vulnerability on the system, meaning the person would have to explore errors, glitches and bugs found on the platform. I believe OP's question could have been made more explicity regards it already, because there is no other way to predict the algorithm, since in nature it has to be random to ensure legit results and fair play.

In every cases, instead of exploring algorithm vulnerabilities, it's advisable that every gamblers report such errors spotted to the platform. Besides ensuring the service's good functionality, they may also be rewarded by the casinos for their honesty and contribution, instead of being punished, banned and considered cheaters in case they try to take advantage of a failure in the system.
952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We dont own enough bitcoin on: January 08, 2024, 01:30:08 PM
I don't believe in mindset advice and stuff like that. This post is about "I don't have enough" mindset as the right one. Today I also read a thread that was about not desiring money to become rich, which is sort of the opposite.
People should do whatever feels right and natural to them, whatever has a positive impact on them. Envy is bad, greed is also bad. Having some motivation to obtain more BTC is alright, and being chill about money is alright as well. Moderation (being moderate) is one of the best ideas of humanity, IMO, and it applies in this matter as well as in any other.
I believe the "I don't have enough" mindset can be useful as a boost to encourage you acquiring and working more to achieve better results futurely, although as you said, moderation is one of the best traits to be practiced by humanity. It means we should know how further we can push ourselves, while respecting our personal limits, and once we reach them, it's time to replace the "I don't have enough" mentality by the "I have enough, under my current conditions" mindset. I believe the conscience of having done the best we could have is what really matters in the end. That is what brings inner peace, fulfillment.

Those who persue the maximum, the pinnacle, the supremacy end only frustrating themselves and prejudicing their mental health, because there will be always someone one step ahead of you, and someone one step ahead of who is above you...
953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be worried or comfortable seeing your elderly mother gambling? on: January 08, 2024, 01:05:53 PM
However, I want to know as forum members from different parts of the world your thought's towards this based on your environmental perspective towards gambling irrespective of whosoever is involved be it young or elderly in as much as the individual is of gambling age.
For me it's normal to see an elderly woman gambling. My concern would be only regards the environment she is in. There are gambling shops which are mostly frequented by men where I live, so I wouldn't feel comfortable seeing an alone lady there, especially when the shop isn't solely focused on bets, but it's also a pub. So the environment is really heavy and sometimes vulgar. Not the kind of place I would like to see my mother attending to.

Lastly, will you feel comfortable or worried knowing that your mother is a dedicated gambler; and if you feel worried are you worried that she may be losing a pool of cash or your worried because you fear for her health as gamblers can get negative emotions when losing money.
It depends what kind of gambler she is. If she is familiar with gambling since a long time and has never showed any addictive or harmful behaviors to herself, I wouldn't bother she is gambling as part of her distractions. There wouldn't be any reasons to worry about losing money, since she has her budget for that reason, and negative emotions are unlikely, as she is a long term gambler and gambling has always brought her exciting and joy emotions.

But that is my reality. Maybe in your country things work in different ways, due to personal challenges, difficults and financial barriers being tougher. If for some reason you think your mother or any other woman you love shouldn't be gambling, you have to explain her the reasons why you think so, and rationally you can reach an agreement.
954  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to get rich, you have to become immune to the money.......! on: January 07, 2024, 08:43:20 PM
How true is it? I want to ask the successful people here in this forum. What kind of rules or strategies that you guys use which led you to your success?
This is a tricky question considering the examples you have mentioned. It's hard to not desire something which in the end you are desiring, anyway, even if indirectly. After all, you want to be rich to enjoy your money, which inevitably has to come from others' pockets somehow, and you have expectations it's going to happen at some point in the future. So by working on it, you are theoretically desiring all the three items presented as non-desirable on your examples.

Taking a more philosophical approach, I believe the moral behind those points are to focus on the process in real time, instead of focusing on final results. When we focus on final results we end prejudicing our performance on the current moment, therefore we don't reach the place we want on long term.
955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any fun in losing while gambling on: January 07, 2024, 07:58:33 PM
“Is there actually any fun in gambling especially when the losses are more than the winnings?”
The fun doesn't consist in losing, but on the very act of gambling. Despite the outcomes being profit or loss, the gambler has to have a good time enjoying his gambling session, otherwise it's an activity he should avoid, because it will mean it's not being benefical for him in anyways.

Let’s be frank, there are several other things one can do for fun aside gambling and I understand that life it’s own is a risk but seeing claims that people see gambling as fun even when making losses is weird and I think it’s worth discussion as to know if truly people gamble strictly for fun without minding if they’re losing or winning
There are several variables of entertainment activities someone can execute for self-pleasure and self-satisfaction. However, not every entertainment activities are suitable for everyone. For you it might be entertaining to watch sports on TV, but for me it can be really boring, so you could easily replace a bad habit which is harming you by watching sports matches, but for me it wouldn't work, because it's not something which I'm going to feel emotionally rewarded by doing.

The same can be said about who enjoys gambling, but don't enjoy other hobbies people usually are adept of. For you it might look foolish to see them losing money and still gambling after all. However, gamblers could also say it's foolishness someone to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to watch a soccer game at a crowded stadium, surrounded by drunk and sweaty men, screaming, crying and suffering for a match result which won't make any difference on their lives at all. Who is right or wrong on their points of view?

People who gamble, have pleasure on that respective activity, and even though they are likely to be losing money on long run, it doesn't seem to affect them negatively at all. They have a source of income which doesn't rely on gambling, and gambling occupies only a small budget of that total source of income, so it doesn't bring further negative impact over their finances.
956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: January 07, 2024, 05:06:38 PM
I can't believe people are still going on and on and on about ETFs. Do you guys realize it's been 5 years since ETFs started coming out and rejected? And did Bitcoin ever fail in all those times when ETFs got rejected?

In fact, did Bitcoin pump to 1 million whenever there WAS ETF approved?

So why are we still thinking so highly about these stuffs?

What you say is not wrong, without ETF, bitcoin would continue to grow and increase in price over time and that has been proven over the years. But we can't deny the influence ETFs have on bitcoin in the short term, so it's no surprise that many people are still interested in whether ETFs will be approved or not. We are approaching another bull season, and if ETFs are approved, it could also be a significant catalyst to create a super bull cycle for bitcoin. The last thing people care about is the bull season and the rise in bitcoin's price, not the ETFs.
ETFs approval would have a positive impact in BTC price on short run, while its disapproval would have an opposite impact, I think we can't avoid that. However, what really matters this year for Bitcoin market is the halving event. This is the most powerful catalyst we have under our disposal to make Bitcoin shine and enter a strong bullish season. When we think about this major event, ETF approval or disapproval becomes a little detail without much influence on the bigger picture. The focus of Bitcoin investment has always been the long term, so there is no reason to get worried or distracted by short term events, especially the ones which are highly manipulated by regulators.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Answer this Gambling Question on Duration of Joy after a win or loss on: January 07, 2024, 04:44:13 PM
I am curious, how long does this joy last after a win or a loss—does it linger until your next bet, lasting the whole day, just 20 minutes, or perhaps 2 hours?
Few days, at least for me. Of course it will depend on how volatile your mood and inner changes, necessities are. Some people are constantly seeking for pleasure and once they finally get it, it seems to not last for too long, and they are already unsatisfied again seeking for superior doses of pleasure. When it happens there must be a lack of self-regulation which is preventing the individual from achieving homeostatic state for a considerable length of time. He is too anxious and impulsive for some reason, and that should be investigated. It might be due to biological reasons, or environmental (external) reasons.

When someone can't be happy for longer than 20 minutes or few hours after winning a nice amount of money gambling, this person must be in deep mental suffering... It looks like nothing can satisfy this person for too long, despite how good and precious things happening for him/her are.
958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many individual holders of Bitcoin are there? on: January 07, 2024, 04:19:02 PM
I believe the fact we can't know exactly and even approximately how many Bitcoin holders there are represents one of the reasons why governments are so avid to pass regulations over crypto industry and its enthusiasts. They want to know what is the real percentage of people who are using cryptocurrencies, so they can understand how developed the adoption is, plus calculating with accuracy how much they can profit from them through taxes.

Probably in the next few years we will be able to answer this question precisely, as regulations are advancing fast forward these days in many countries, and the tendency is that every other countries which still don't have a plan on how to act towards cryptocurrencies end copying the same models from another countries which already did previously.
959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mental rehabilitation clinic. on: January 07, 2024, 03:51:31 PM
Please note that the patient will resist to the last. He will give counterarguments. For example, that he will get rich in the future, he’s just not lucky yet.
What other arguments do you think the patient will give? How do you respond to these arguments of his?
Then the patient is delusional. He is out his rationality to make such statements when in fact he has already lost tons of money on his pursuit for richness, consequently being on that clinic for that reason. For someone in delusional state, I'm not sure if arguments would help somehow, because arguments demand the person to be rational in order to absorb and reflect about them. When people behave like this, the tendency is pharmacology to take in action as last resource.

Personally, I don't like the idea, because I don't think pharmaceuticals cure mental diseases, it just works as a palliative, which also brings lots of negative side effects on long run.

But besides this measure, I think I could only give attention to the addicted individual, hearing what he has to say and trying to change his focus to another activities, in a slight hope he can get out of the delusional state of mind he finds himself.
960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you willing to bet $50 spin for a chance to win $42 million? on: January 06, 2024, 10:20:36 PM
50$ for a single spin is a too expensive bet which is beyond my current possibilities. With 50$ I can play for several days, so it doesn't make sense to risk all this money at once with a slight chance of earning the 42$ million prize. These kinds of deals are only interesting through lotteries, as the tickets are pretty cheap, so they worth the risk of having only a tiny percentage of chance by your side.

Another idea would be to join a pool of gamblers, so instead of paying 50$, each of them would give 1$ in case there were 50 gamblers together. In winning case, the 42$ million would be split by 50. Through this method I think it would be a good idea and then I might consider joining the party.
