941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: December 02, 2017, 04:26:45 AM
Hello guys,
I have asked coinmarketcap to update burstcoin's circulating supply and I got this as a reply:

"Do you know if there are any API endpoints available that display total supply? If we had these we could update the supply in the listing dynamically.
Please let us know!"

Could someone let me know where I can find the information they are looking for so I can email them back?
Thank you in advance

Try reaching out to the owner of explore.burst.cryptoguru.org. I assume he's also a member of the PoCC.

Anyhow, here are some nice tools to check how Burst is performing. Except for the network size, I dont see anything to be positive about for the next few months. But I hope that changes after the BFA. I wish it doesnt disappoint!
942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Burstcoin [BURST] Price Speculation on: December 02, 2017, 04:17:05 AM
I also share your concern with pre-announcements. Remember the last "big" Burst announcement? It was just an Android wallet lol.

Having a well functioning Android wallet is pretty neat though. Cheesy Must have been quite some work.

Yeah its nice to have a functioning Android wallet lol. But its not something big like how the PoCC tried to hype it to be. Was that the time when the market started reacting positively then the trend quickly reversed when the big new was really just the Android wallet?

They should learn from the mistake and try not to disappoint next time.
943  Economy / Economics / The impact of futures trading on commodities and my worry for BTC on: December 02, 2017, 02:16:31 AM
First you should read this introduction about futures pricing on commodities.

Who sets the price of commodities?

Here are some important notes from the essay.

  • Since commodities are traded on exchanges, their prices are not set by a single individual or entity. On the exchanges, commodities are traded via futures contracts.

  • The market price of a commodity that is quoted in the news is often the market futures price for that respective commodity.

  • Although commodities are traded using futures contracts and futures prices, events that occur now will affect the futures prices.

  • As with other securities, many traders use commodity futures to speculate on future price movements.

What are we seeing here? Are the exchanges that trade real BTC being moved aside and pushed away by the CME Group and other regulated exchanges now?

From my perspective, the futures markets are slowly taking over and years from now holding a futures contract for BTC will be more valuable as a fiat earning investment then holding BTC itself.
944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This concerns all Bitcoiners. Your privacy is in danger. on: December 02, 2017, 01:54:46 AM
This concerns all Bitcoiners. Your privacy is in danger

why should ALL bitcoiners even care what Coinbase is doing?

This should be a concern not for all bitcoiners but all bitcoiners that have their own bitcoin on the exchanges. Other Exchanges might follow their steps, as you know other countries view America as a smart and great country that every law that they have have a local copy on their country ( i cannot support this but this is what i believed in, specially here in the Philippines). Other Exchanges might do the same move as what coinbase did.

No, it concerns all Bitcoiners unless you dont have plans to convert your BTC to cash. To convert to fiat, we have to go through an exchange and usually one that has our ID and other verification documents.
945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PoC Consortium Stage 1: BURST on: December 02, 2017, 01:47:35 AM
...and the expectations are higher.

Having said that, the developers should adapt and also recalibrate on what they consider as "big news".
If the BFA is really big news then great, but if its not then be careful, it might disappoint.

I am still missing any concrete examples what "more" people out there expect. What is considered "big news" "out there".
Because if people do not really know and just "expect more" without being able to pinpoint it, then there is no way to satisfy these people.
Most are like kids who expect an even shinier toy, an even faster gaming computer, without being able to make sensible use of any of it.

What I am afraid of, is that the news - once really "big enough" - won't even be understood. For a while at least.

Some concrete examples of "big news" would be a partnership with a tech company like the news about Stellar and IBM. Others would be being listed in the top Asian exchanges like Bitflyer and Bithumb.

"Big news" doesn't mean confining it in the technical aspects of the platform but also the practical aspects that bring cash inflows to the cryptocurrency.

Burst is the first PoC coin and the first to have smart contracts and cross atomic swaps, but that did not bring it "to the moon".
946  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Tipestry - commenting platform with built-in cryptocurrency tipping on: December 01, 2017, 03:16:50 AM
Cool project. Do you plan to accept new cryptocurrencies in the future? There are tons out there without any usecase, and might be dying to be accepted in gambling sites or a site like yours.

If you're willing to accept a cryptocurrency with unique features, kindly send me a PM.
947  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin drop about 20% after Lloyd Blankfein comments. on: December 01, 2017, 03:03:26 AM
CEO of the USA Investment bank, Lloyd Blankfein said "something that move 20 overnight do not feel like a currency. It is vehicles to perpetrate fraud" after this comment on Thursday bitcoin lose over 20% and I was panic to sell off my holding. But thank God the bitcoin has started recovering as we can see that it is currently above $9,700. I think this is another caculated attacked on bitcoin image in other to create FUD.

Are you saying he caused the price to go down? Because I dont think he did. He's a nobody in the blockchain space, so why should everyone listen to him?

The whole market is just going through a correction from my perspective.

This concerns all Bitcoiners. Your privacy is in danger

why should ALL bitcoiners even care what Coinbase is doing?
Coinbase is a centralized service working with fiat and banks (obeying AML/KYC and US laws including tax laws coming from IRS), they can do whatever they want to do and they have been doing that. this news about IRS is not new. they have been doing it for years. need i remind you how they caught the owner of KickAssTorrents?
and it certainly has nothing to do with ALL bitcoiners nor bitcoin nor it has anything to do with their privacy.

if you don't like it, don't use Coinbase or any centralized service like that.

Please read what I wrote. I said if it becomes a precedent for all governments to start doing the same, then it should be a cause for concern on all Bitcoiners.

If you thought that its isolated within those 14,000 Coinbase customers then you are very wrong. Thats only the beginning of the crypto inquisition.
949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PoC Consortium Stage 1: BURST on: December 01, 2017, 01:20:06 AM
I like that quote lol. But most of the people's expections are calibrated so high these days because of all the promises and the marketing done by the multimillion $ ICOs. Whether they reach their goals or not, they dont care as long as they get their millions.

If Ethereum was made today, do you think it could compete in the scenario we have today? Maybe not. The competition is tougher and the expectations are higher.

Having said that, the developers should adapt and also recalibrate on what they consider as "big news".

If the BFA is really big news then great, but if its not then be careful, it might disappoint.
950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / This concerns all Bitcoiners. Your privacy is in danger. on: November 30, 2017, 06:29:52 AM
Although Coinbase says it's a partial victory, this is still a very huge concern for 14,000 users' privacy. What other recourse does the community have now if it becomes a precedent for other countries to take government action to retrieve customer data?

Read Coinbase's statement. Coinbase Obtains Partial Victory Over IRS

951  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Account Enhance verification on: November 30, 2017, 06:10:59 AM
The best way to make the verification process faster is for you to request for a manual verification. But make sure all your ID and other documents are real and valid. Some of you are taking longer to be verified because your IDs might not be the valid type. Use your passport or driver's license.

There's now reason to believe that some traders on Bittrex are minors who should not be trading anyway.
952  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining on: November 30, 2017, 05:46:39 AM
Are you serious? $100 for cloud mining? Not only is cloud mining not profitable but the amount willing to be invested is very small. Its better to spend all of that on an altcoin under $20m in market value and try to get lucky for a 10x return.
953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Burstcoin [BURST] Price Speculation on: November 30, 2017, 03:53:02 AM
Did you see the latest tweet from the PoCC? They have a big announcent coming before 2018 ends. They said it was big, as in Elon Musk's Big Fucking Rocket big.

I wish they didn't try to set it up like this. It may end in disappointment.

Hope you mean 2017 Cheesy
But no, I can't find that tweet. Maybe deleted? Pre-announcements never go well ... see the recent Neo apology Smiley

Yeah sorry. I meant before 2017 lol.

Here's the tweet in question PoCC Big Announcement Teaser. It wasn't deleted.

I also share your concern with pre-announcements. Remember the last "big" Burst announcement? It was just an Android wallet lol.

954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PoC Consortium Stage 1: BURST on: November 30, 2017, 03:19:15 AM
First of all, I would like to thank you for your patience, I know you're a busy man.

Missing the PoCC's tweet on my second look is my fault. Sorry.

Thirdly, maybe the BFA might be something like the Android wallet situation, wherein the community expected something more but ended up having something in slight disappointment.

NEO also suffered the same situation. They announced something big was coming, but it was only a hacking contest or something.
955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PoC Consortium Stage 1: BURST on: November 29, 2017, 04:38:27 AM
The tweet about a BFA, assuming it stands for Big Fucking Announcement, from the PoCC's Twitter account was removed a day after. Why? Did the PoCC fear that it would end in another disappointment or was the plan behind it canceled or something? Rico666, care to reply?
956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: The next financial crisis and cryptocurrencies. on: November 28, 2017, 03:27:13 AM
Real world crisis will make jobss easy for cryptocurrencies i think. Peoples will begin to debate the value and credibility of state money. Crypto money will gain more credibility.

This will actually make the cypto currencies more powerful because when the investors will not get any return on financial asset class then they will switch to other products and thus cypto currencies will be on their plans. Thus a huge investment would be received and demand will soar thus leading to more high price rise.

Wont BTC and all cryptocurrencies also fail if there was a global financial crisis? The traction BTC has gained is not enough to make it a self sustaining financial system because we still base its value on fiat. Think about it, it's fiat that's making BTC fly. Without it we would not give a crap about BTC.
957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Burstcoin [BURST] Price Speculation on: November 28, 2017, 02:57:11 AM
Burst had a big move today, then I tried searching for any news on why it's moving but I cant find anything. So let us speculate

Well, maybe it was a big move - but it's just soo much room to recover from old heights. So I think it just moved back a bit to where it should be - it is way undervalued, even if we take the slow months into account.

It's a risky coin, with no public plan to rely on. But that makes it a good gamble, with lots of up-side (if things were sure, the price would be high). I just look in the coinmarketcap range and I see soo many dead coins there. Burstcoin definitely doesn't belong in that graveyard. So my opinion: Decent bet mid-term to stay horizontal, maybe tick a bit up. With an above average chance to break out substantially if solid good news comes out. But it can all go wrong too.

Did you see the latest tweet from the PoCC? They have a big announcent coming before 2018 ends. They said it was big, as in Elon Musk's Big Fucking Rocket big.

I wish they didn't try to set it up like this. It may end in disappointment.
958  Economy / Economics / Re: Where Will The Digital Economy Take Us? on: November 27, 2017, 05:24:03 AM
What will happen with Blockchain technology in the next 50 years?

Lol, a side note: you're the guy who sold Spotify premium that stopped working right after. I didn't know any better because that was the first time I was posting on these forums and understand this whole new marketplace. I hope you were able to refund everyone.

In the next 50 years, BTC may be adopted. It may be dropped. There may be a new alt in it's place. We have no clue what it will look like in the next 50 years, if not the next 10. It's volatility makes it hard to predict where it runs. For now, I believe blockchain could be the future for the next decade or so.

But how do you define a blockchain? Is it a digital ledger secured by Proof of Work, completely permissionless and decentralized? Or is it something else like what the ICOs are doing? There is a big difference.

We must first know what a blockchain really is to predict its future, because in some definitions, anything can be a blockchain.
959  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bittrex announces minimum trade size raise and other info on: November 27, 2017, 05:10:48 AM
Quote
This email is to communicate policy changes for placing orders on Bittrex.  As you know, Bittrex is committed to providing fair and efficient price discovery and these changes are designed to improve the overall trading experience on our markets.

Removing stale orders:  Effective today, Bittrex will be removing orders that are older than 28 days.  As we’ve communicated in the past, many of these orders have no reasonable expectation of being filled and clog the order books.

Raising the minimum trade size:  Within the next 2 weeks, the minimum allowable trade value for orders will go from 50,000 Satoshi to 100,000 Satoshi.  We will also require a minimum trade quantity on a per market basis.

Creating minimum tick sizes: Within the next 2 weeks, on a per market basis, we will be instituting minimum tick sizes that are based on the current price of the market.  The target is to have minimum trade sizes that are near 0.1% of the current price.  The current minimum tick size is 1 Satoshi.  For example, Ethereum trades at 0.0577 Bitcoin.  Bids and asks can only be placed in 0.0001 increments.  So the next levels allowable levels on the order book will be 0.0576 and 0.0578.

A general statement about market manipulation tactics:  Bittrex actively discourages any type of market manipulation, including pump groups.  Consistent with our terms of service, we will suspend and close any accounts engaging in this type of activity and notify the appropriate authorities.

For more details around these policy changes, see this article.  https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003004171

Thank you,

Bill Shihara
Chief Executive Officer

Personally, I've been debating moving away from bittrex before but this is the final nail in the coffin. Their restrictive verification requirements and new $8 minimum trade size I'm not a fan of. I'll be moving to a less restrictive exchange.

From my perspective, it should be given a chance. If their changes can make their markets more liquid, more professionally run and make it better and easier for us to trade, then why not?
960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Burst weekly report! The future is bright! on: November 27, 2017, 03:06:17 AM
Greetings my fellow forumites. The Burst weekly reports are back! Please take some time to read about all of them in burstcoin.ist if you missed them. Rico666 and the PoCC are trying their best to produce a good, stable platform for an environment friendly cryptocurrency. Let's show our appreciation by learning more about it, and if you like what you see, then please help us spread the word. Ty.

Weekly Burst Report #12 – 11/26/2017

  • The code base of Burst is going through a heavy refactoring by removing the unnecessary relics from the NXT code, by improving code quality and efficiency and by making it generally better, simpler and more flexible. “The next version will almost have every line of code touched”, according to Rico666, one of the PoC Consortium core developers. Some statistics on core development were displayed on Twitter a few days ago: since the launch of 1.3.6cg a little less than a month ago, there have been 887 files modified, 51,043 insertions (+) and 117,807 deletions (-)!

  • The version 1.3 of Qbundle, the hands-on Windows launcher, has been released. It brings many new features, such as plotting and mining software, ability to run as a service and much more. With this update, Qbundle proves itself to be the successor of the AIO client for the latest cg versions of the wallet. You can see the full changelog and download Qbundle on GitHub.

  • BurstNation announced a few moments ago that they are still awaiting for Windows approval to get their own wallet on the Windows App Store. However, they shared a link to allow everyone to download the wallet before it gets on the store. “It is a lite version of the wallet you are all used to, kept simple and straight forward. It is aimed at mainstream people, no fluff, no fancy features that would confuse people etc.”
