9461  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016 your year or just another year on: December 27, 2016, 10:26:04 AM
I don't have a profit in gambling this year so this is not my year obviously, despite of that I am still positive that in the coming years I will be able to hit my target in gambling and totally quit for good but until such time will happen, I will still continue my journey and still losing money.

Although I am positive enough but it's good to be realistic to make a proper adjustment when things does not work your way.

Be positive Buddy you shall make good profits next year, seems like the majority have a good year and let's hope we all continue to have a insane year ahead. Any particular sites you all have tried and would like to say that should be avoided for newbie and even the experienced once. Gamble safely and profitability as we go on the new year cheers.
9462  Economy / Gambling discussion / 2016 your year or just another year on: December 27, 2016, 07:40:31 AM
So with the year saying us goodbye and the last Tuesday setting in, how was the year in gambling aspects, how much did you make, which sites you earned most and which you lost on. What's that one bet you can remember and one move you you wished you never played. I have played on primedice seemed decent though I played with small amounts, planning to play big next year. Do share your stories

So on a nice Christmas party time, drinks on the house I and my friend were discussing about Bitcoin, he's from the finance field and he generally knows a lot, so I thought I would use my Bitcoin knowledge to surprise him, wish I had not done it lol, so when I told him to invest in Bitcoin, I thought he would ask what it is and he replied he has one free bitcoin already. You can imagine the look, one free bitcoin here collecting satoshi's we hardly reach to a Bitcoin and he already has one. It so happens that the firm where he works decided to give bonus and they decided to give one free bitcoin to the selected staff and they have promised to give more in future that's so cool. You get salary, plus a Bitcoin perks of a employee life....
Well you have been missed chance for free bitcoin (although actually it is not free bitcoins because they are working for the company ) , but you can buy bitcoin on the markets, it is same bitcoins with employee on the company.
I think you don't need regret because of you are not employee on the company and you can use your perks  for buying bitcoins.  Cheesy

I don't mean it in literal sense, of course we can buy Bitcoin on the market but the thing here is they are getting a fixed a salary plus on tip being given full Bitcoin that's such a awesome investment and plus with price hike it's always good to have one. If all employers would be doing this, I am sure the Bitcoin world will receive a boost. Though this is a one off incident let's see if if other bosses follow suit. Who knows 2017 may bring more chances like this for every one.

9465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this true or a speculation on: December 26, 2016, 02:48:45 PM
Somewhere while surfing I read popular sites often makes less known sites use the money to pay first then scam and then continue on the popular sites. Could this also be happening in the Bitcoin industry. Start a roll dice or casino, open a hyip and then hyip goes scam and front site continues, no one comes to know. Or this is purely speculation, none of this happens?
Well that's is not new any more in this field of industry in bitcoin world, I think the thing that we can do now we should be very careful in any site like hyip is to avoid them at once for us not to be a victim.
We cannot eliminate HYIP sites, they seem to be offering a great opportunity when it's starting to the eyes of the newbies and we cannot control newbies as they have their own judgement and some even think that they can take advantage of the HYIP by exiting faster once ROI is already realized.

This will continue to exist but if we do not support them, they will not be successful of scamming the majority of investors, there is no law that governs bitcoin so they can do whatever they want.

to be honest I wouldn't call them "newbies" instead they are idiots who are also desperate enough to think they can make money this way. HYIP is a scam, and we all know it and anybody who stumbles upon them for the first time figures it out too. but only those who don't use their brains think they are profitable.

all these strategies of getting in first, .... are delusions of these people. they are gambling with terrible odds of winning.

It worked in the past with real world scams and pyramid schemes because they required a lot of effort and initial investment to start up the whole business. That's the reason why first "investors" could actually earn something through them, else the operators would be at a loss if they ran away with their money without delay. Today you don't need a lot of investment, and you can close the business in a matter of a few days, after receiving some money.

It really happens before but now ,in new generation people were more smarter we think most of the time if its scam or not because it is the trend the story of getting scam. Now we learned already our lesson to research before doing. In this way we can avoid getting scam. And be profitable in investing.

Agreed earlier it was very easy to scam use the same tried method and people really had no means to be aware but now thanks to alert people and the same boring methoda we can spot a scam and stay clear of it. But try as you much this guy's succeed with the newbies the most. They easily fall for it. Though every one trying to help but newbies really need to be cautious.

9467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks accepting bitcoin on: December 25, 2016, 09:37:35 AM
Even though , iPayYou doesn't look as good as other services such as Bitpay for example , they managed to make Starbucks accepting bitcoin in their official application and that's definitly an achievement for a new service like them.
In order to use this feature , you first have a wallet in iPayYou otherwise It's not going to work. The next year already sound very promising and I can't wait to see more .

This is one of the best threads I have read in Christmas. I actually can't believe it, that my favorite coffee brand now accepts Bitcoins. This will save my huge coffee bills and make me even drink more coffee. Is the wallet secure though. I haven't used it so wanted to know. Any precautions we need to take and it's applicable in all outlets or selected ones for now.
9468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WE pledge WE won't let Bitcoin die... [RESPONSE to "If bitcoin died tomorrow"] on: December 25, 2016, 08:40:46 AM
Bitcoin shall not die on my watch, winter are coming and so are the fools who say Bitcoin will die will perish. Bitcoin shall never die and any attempt to cause this will be met with severe resistance. I pledge alliance to the Bitcoin. It is the best currency and it's shall be kept alive always, main reason is that its decentralised. That is the best part. The only regret is countries haven't accepted it as a second  currency
9469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Inevitability of Million Dollar Bitcoin on: December 25, 2016, 05:29:19 AM
The notion of million-dollar Bitcoin may seem damnably unrealistic, but consider that the cryptocurrency that was trading for pennies in 2009 has now soared to almost $1000 USD. From a dollar to a thousand dollars is a 1000% rise. From a thousand dollars (its current price) to 1 million dollars is also a 1000% rise. Bitcoin has a proven track record of this magnitude of appreciation.

From a dollar to a thousand dollars is not a 1000% rise, it is a 1000x rise (more like a 100,000% rise)
The problem with that analogy is that you are ignoring the base effect. In percentage terms, it is very easy to increase by a large percentage when the initial value is small. There will be hundreds of alt coins which would have increased by the same percentage. But as the market capitalization grows, repeating the increase becomes very difficult.

There is no doubt that the value of Bitcoin one which was in pennies is now upto 1000 usd but that is because no country has stopped it so far, the minining of the coin is yet going on. But it's early to take a call. Then there have been multiple reasons for it growth, global uncertainty, global economy slowing down, brexit and demonitization current events. Though I would love to see it go high and high but to early to take such a huge call.
9470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reports of China Banning Bitcoin Are Greatly Exaggerated on: December 25, 2016, 05:13:27 AM
On November 3 the Bitcoin price took a dive from a high of US$745 to a low of $675 with news of China circling the internet. A so-called report from the publication Bloomberg had other media outlets assume that China was planning on curbing Bitcoin use in the near future. However, the reports have remained unconfirmed, and many believe the headline was fictitious.

https://news.bitcoin.com/reports-china-bitcoin-exaggerated/

I wonder which fool actually believed it. All those who deal in Bitcoin will know it that it won't ever happen. This work is of the people who are scared of Bitcoin and thier power. China won't ever do this shit. A advice don't believe everything media shows us, it's paid to promote fear. So I only will believe this is if some some Sr or legendary member would have said it. So in short China and Bitcoin lover affair is not getting over soon.
9471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's freaking 2017 - Do you own 1 BTC? on: December 24, 2016, 12:55:12 PM
I remember several years ago similar poll was made and i was surprised most of the users answered NO.
In case your answer is still NO, I'd like to know what is your main reason not to own one bitcoin?

Happy holidays!

edit: grammar

They say earn Bitcoin, even the site will claim you earn Bitcoin but reality is what we earn are faucets, and it takes one he'll of a while to convert it into Bitcoin. Thanks to the signature campaign and the awesome giveaways I am getting more satoshi's than usual but again no where even close to a fraction of a Bitcoin. Not all people have Fiat to buy Bitcoin, people like us roll on sites like freebitco.in, moonbit and other for small faucets, and sometimes loose patience but give up and resume the next day. Who wouldn't love to own a Bitcoin, if only Santa could leave a Bitcoin for me this year just saying, it's incredibly difficult for people like me who has no Fiat to buy or relies solely on faucets to earn.
9472  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: December 24, 2016, 12:24:36 PM
for sure this is the best faucet ever

It might be the best but so many adverts sucks!

Have you been there lately? There are no ads on the site right now, not a single one. This might depend on the place you are visiting the site from, but in this particular case I think you'd have no ads too since the owner had stated recently on this forum:

Quote
We decided to stop accetping ads for ponzis, fake gambling and MLM websites because people were losing money to such sites despite the warnings we show, since they somehow seemed to think that websites advertising on FreeBitco.in could be considered as "trusted".

Seems a little bit fishy now. Because what I do know, where do they get money if there is no ads? Freebitcoin site will be good but without people make some ad there there will be no income to pay huge number of btc each week on their lottery. And let say they hold huge btc but soon or later if there is no income and people always win their lottery, this number will be gone fast enough

For lottery winners, freebitcoin is not paying from their pocket. If people buy lottery only the prize amount will increase, and if no one buys it then lottery amount will not show any amount for a winner. Since they never mentioned how they are selecting winner so they can get that lottery money for themselves by choosing whom they want.

Supposedly all income for the lottery are coming from the participants in the lottery and the draws are done electronically. < Also supposedly provably fair > I have had my doubts about this for a while, but I have no evidence to back my suspicions, You can decide for yourself if this lottery is provably fair or not, but I am not dumping any money into this, until I have seen proof of this. Last time when I asked questions about this, someone suddenly came forward claiming that they have won in the lottery. < good timing >  Roll Eyes

This question about lottery has been asked many times and the site has always stayed silent or not given any satisfying reply, every one using the site knows to avoid the lottery, maybe use for faucet but definitely do not use it for the lottery. I yet haven't seen any guy winning lottery and putting proof. So it's safe to say that one should not use lottery I hope now this question is not asked again until someone puts a proof.

9475  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin in 2017 on: December 23, 2016, 04:41:17 PM
For me personally I see Bitcoin 1200 by March and if trend continues 1600 by year end. Don't know about countries accepting it, people have started accepting it a lot. From what I see transaction will get slower and that's what I am hating about it, no solution in sight. Though I feel banks will start accepting it soon. Downside if things go bad then, I see btc a low of 650$ not below than that. Overall a positive year is predicted.
9476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for effective methods? on: December 23, 2016, 03:29:39 PM
I'm a new person involved in bitcointalk forum, I want to make Bitcoin, the method to get Bitcoin on the internet that I have read as:
1. typing to make Bitcoin free capcha => has been very little, your computer vulnerable to viruses invade
2. Investment in the website => almost all are scams
3. gamble => this is a violation of law
Please share with me what do I do to get Bitcoin?

Firstly understand there nothing like free bitcoin I mean as whole. If you can post constructive post, then join a signature campaign. Then as per your rank and one which pays you good select it. Then join site like freebitco.in and try to get friend and family on it. Sell when price is high, buy when it's low. Do not gamble, do not invest in hyip. There's a lending section see one who gives collateral and make some profit but make sure you know what you are getting into. Ps you seem confused, so make sure you make a correct decision.
9477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin still suited to low amount transactions? on: December 23, 2016, 06:24:37 AM
Hi,

I have tried to send 10m BTC to a friend 1:30 ago and it has not been confirmed yet! When I check Blockchain.info, the transaction is not there yet and I see hundreds of transactions per minute appearing there. Considering that miners will choose highest fee transactions first, low amount transactions will starve for confirmation... I have chosen the fee recommended  by the satoshi client and it says that it is probable to be confirmed in the next 25 blocks (250 minutes!). It seems that there is bid of fees and high amount transactions are more keen to pay a higher fee. Therefore, I believe that that speech of no transaction cost with bitcoin has become a fairy tale...

Definitely yes I use it for small and big transaction all the time. And if you are aware of the recent PayPal change which you have to transact minimum of 1$, it has made Bitcoin small transaction more user friendly. Then in your case transactions take time dude, some days quick some days slow. So check in a while it will be confirmed.

Well this was bound to happen first coinbase and now this, the irs has been snooping around for a long time and though I am bit surprised they have taken mail route and sending you balance over a mail that's really strange. Have you reported the mail and tried to find out how did you receive it? Has any one else received it or its a one off incident?
9479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: December 22, 2016, 03:10:33 PM
Bitcoin is being used widely in porn sites, gambling and drug dealing sectors. Is that why the btc made for ? I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ? Block chain tech is a awesome tech and btc is getting popular. I hate these misuses of precious btc. It hurts me. This will lead into unhealthy society along with unhealthy future generation.

With all due respect sir, yes a fraction of Bitcoin users are using it for drugs, gambling, porn but that's just a fraction of them. There are many who are using it for saving, converting to Fiat, investing them or buying goods, so don't think that entire community is missing it. The fraction that is best to avoid them, even Normal currency is used for all this, btc can't be made scapegoat.

This is really sad news, but how the he'll did they did it. Isn't the security supposed to be super strong, though I do get it hackers found a way, I hope the money gets restored soon. Are other exchanges and wallets also under threats? And no legal case can also be filed right cause it's not a legal currency? Or they can try and track them and get it back?
