961  Other / Meta / Re: The reputation system here needs to be de-centralized, get rid of default trust on: September 01, 2015, 11:29:29 PM
I'll agree with tspacepilot on his point that the way default trust is implemented it's used by nearly everybody. IMO there's should me more encouragement and guidance for members to either edit the basic list or form their own. Even if you're on your own network that you've carefully formed, you can't easily get away from default trust since everyone else would be using it. That's unless you're on top of the list where forming your own worthy list is encouraged.
962  Other / Meta / Re: The reputation system here needs to be de-centralized, get rid of default trust on: September 01, 2015, 10:15:03 PM
Ideas and suggestions are great and all, But I believe bitcointalk.org has one of the fanciest reputation systems when it comes to forums software. If you remember the old scammer tag, that was the real centralised system.

Even though I've been burned in the past, I like the system. You can have your own trust network and if you're added to the list of a high ranking member your list might be part of the default.

[jk]I'd say that it's a very anarchocapitalist trust system[/jk]
963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is a fixed small block size long term sustainable? on: September 01, 2015, 10:07:01 PM
IMO, right now the 1Mb limit is just ok under the current conditions. Although It's not performing great during stress tests. The suggestion that we're going to need a bigger block size cap is based on the assumption that bitcoin's use will grow, and that this use will have to be housed in the bitcoin blockchain.
964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust the miners? on: September 01, 2015, 10:03:13 PM
Miners caring for profit doesn't mean they'd want bitcoin failing. To say the least, I think they have at least some common interest with the rest. I'm not saying that they should be 100% trusted about taking important decisions.
965  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoins has a great future in India? on: September 01, 2015, 02:02:28 PM
For it to have future there there'd need someone to provide products competitive to what people in other countries have access to. If you read the news today, a startup dedicated to providing financial services to unbanked dropped bitcoin from their services because of the high cost trading bitcoin in Aftica would require.
966  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can I trust BTC exchanges? on: September 01, 2015, 01:40:26 PM
As of now, large bitcoin exchanges built their business model based on trust. Regardless if they use multisig or technologies of such fashion I think that whenever there's fiat involved in an online transaction you're relying on other parties so trust is vital. However, if the exchange has been handling a lot of trades without issues for a long time then I think they can be trusted. Still, you should leave your funds with them for the minimum period of time.
967  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S7 is announced and looking sexy on: September 01, 2015, 12:48:39 PM
I assume that the introduction price is a bit inflated to help fuel more production. Do you guys think that later batched will have a significantly lower price that the one we see now? Surely Bitmain would try to stay up to date with profitability, which makes me believe that upcoming batches could offer a price better in therms of profitability when compared to the one of the first one.
968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Do you trust the miners? on: September 01, 2015, 12:44:04 PM
Hey all. Recent developments around the block size debate have sparked alot of discussion about several topics. I've seen many people arguing that BIP100 gives too much power to the miners. I'm not trying to provoke feelings one way or another, I'm just looking to see if people are willing to put their trust on miners about such decisions.
969  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Holding Bitcoin a long time good way to make money? on: September 01, 2015, 12:04:47 PM
If you have some of the greatest risk tolerance on earth, putting a large sum of money in bitcoin is a bet you can make. But even the biggest known bitcoin investors, the Winklevoss twins, have started diversifying their investments in the space. Creating a bitcoin exchange and all.
970  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: September 01, 2015, 11:55:07 AM
I junst noticed that the coinbase text of blocks mined in antpool goes on auction. Has anybody used this? Can it be used to put things like BIP100/BIP101/8Mb in? I've been watching blocks from antpool voting for 8Mb but I assume that the auctioned text in the coinbase doesn't affect the vote.
971  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto PLEASE resolve this debate? 1MB blockstream vs 8MB Gavin Blocks on: August 30, 2015, 07:37:19 PM
Wasn't there an email sent by an email address previously used by satoshi? Theymos didn't specifically say that it was fake, so I think that we can't be 100% if this was indeed satoshi but it could actually be him. Quote from theymos form a reddit post he made:

Also, someone who could be Satoshi posted here. This email address was actually used by Satoshi before he left, and the email apparently did come from that email address legitimately (not a spoof). Whether he's actually Satoshi or not, I agree with what he's saying.
972  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S7 is announced and looking sexy on: August 30, 2015, 06:23:15 PM
wow look at the stats of this beast! How long to roi do you think?

https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020150827084021471OHYdwd9D06A0

Bitmain are blowing away any competition with this one. Other mining producers will have to try real hard to produce a machine more efficient than this one. I expect that the difficulty will start rising at high rates again but that would also depend on how much production they're going to put out. Most certainly though, this guy is going to be a best seller.
973  Economy / Services / Re: VitalBet Signature Campaign! New higher campaign rates! on: August 30, 2015, 05:28:49 PM
I think the most important thing is that a verification is required to withdraw from vitalbet accounts. I'd enroll if I could receive payments directly to a BTC address or if there wasn't verification required to withdraw BTC from sig campaign.

976  Other / Archival / Re: Quickseller, trust abuse, innacurate negative ratings, unprofesional escrow... on: June 09, 2015, 11:18:10 PM
From what I see, QS was added back to default trust from Tomatocage but briefly removed. After that, all the drama was magically gone. I'll lock and archive this thread after this one reply to honor the time that went by without drama related to Quickseller.
977  Other / Meta / Re: My bitcointalk account is hacked, Please help!!!! on: June 09, 2015, 11:12:51 PM
Now what should i do, is it possible i can get my account back? Can admin help?
Wait for marcotheminer to sell it, the new owner will create a bitcoin dice site that will ultimately fail then the new owner will hopefully give it back to you  Cheesy

Abusing the guy that is responsible for your weekly shilling paycheck. How hypocritical.
978  Other / Archival / Re: Quickseller, trust abuse, innacurate negative ratings, unprofesional escrow... on: May 19, 2015, 12:27:20 PM
Badbear removed quickseller from his trust list, Quickseller is no loger part of default trust depth 2.

His rating in my profile still remains, I believe that this still keeps this thread relevant so I won't be locking it. I haven't invited anyone to post here, it's done voluntarily by individuals that are looking to voice their opinion (some are probably doing it for signature campaign payouts but that's another thing). There's certainly no such thing as a 'organised Quickseller hate group'.

Now I know that I have no control on what you post here but as a kind reminder and for being the original poster: I'd advise people to tone down off topic discussion. You're free to create a new topic if you'd like to discuss things not belonging in this topic.
979  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Song are you Listening To? on: May 17, 2015, 04:49:12 PM
Medium tempo generic beats with lots of bass N' drums, aka chillstep. Helps me with finals.

Redsn0w can you get the fuck out of here? You made 80 FUCKING POSTS yesterday alone. I wonder how you're not banned yet. Since you can't contribute to the discussion here in any way, please show yourself out. Fuck fuck's sake, this is not the place to spam your signature.
