When I see someone rocking a big chain made of Bitcoins then I will say gold is pointless.
I would say the bitcoin blockchain pretty much rocks, doesn't it? Yeah, no doubt. The blockchain is cool, but I'm gonna need the block-watch to go with it.

Security settings have zero to do with me typing in my personal info on..say..bitcointoystore.com. They STILL need my shipping address, name and will probably require some type of contact info i.e. email or phone number. Logically, they will have to have certain info to complete transactions. And more than likely they will store that info.
Of course Bitcoin does not automatically make you anonymous.
I don't see how it can be a flaw if it can be like the competition when you need it to and better when you need it to. Having to giving a shipping address in order to have something shipped to you is not a flaw of bitcoin. All I am saying is the anonymity is going to slowly fade away. Currently, the Bitcoin economy is very sensitive to the whole culture of anonymity that we have come to embrace. Out of all the services I have used in the BTC world, maybe one has asked for my name, number and d.o.b. But what happens when the economy grows? That means competition grows. At some point businesses are going to get more aggressive competing for the same customers. If infiniti poker starts taking some of seals client base you are going to do something about it, right? Maybe losing anonymity is not a flaw. Maybe it is. Or maybe it is just a growing pain of overall progress.

I agree with the poster who said more e commerce.
There needs to be more diversification in the websites that accept bitcoin as payment. Also, wider brick and mortar acceptance would be a great asset as well.
Sadly, one of bitcoins greatest assets will probably be one its biggest flaws- anonymity. As our economy grows there will be a need for businesses to know their customers more and more. They will need shipping info and they will want to collect as much data on you as possible for marketing purposes. It's just the nature of the beast. I do not see a way our economy can really grow while keeping our anonymity in tact.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Until then, embrace gold. Bitcoin is awesome, but gold is timeless.

Also I did a bit of digging and this user is using a brand new wallet address.
Nothing to be alarmed about really, but consider the following...
Read Got BTC's past posts...he definitely is not new to Bitcoin. Quite the opposite actually. So he probably has had a couple established wallets by now right? I have been in BTC for about 7-8 months now and I have about 4 established wallets ALL with transactions. So why make it a point to make sure you have a brand new wallet to go with your brand new username? Looks like someone is trying to hide something.

I think this new "Got BTC" guy may be Jakers. I have no hard proof, I will admit. But they have similar posting patterns. "Got BTC" popped up around the time Jakers was being outed as a scammer.
I also find there to be similarites in typing/speaking style.
Finally, I PM'd Got BTC "hey jake," and got no dispute. Just a smiley with a question mark. What's to be confused about? Just say "I think you PM'd the wrong person."
Again, no hard evidence, but my gut tells me I am right here. From the first post I read of his I got that feeling.
If I am wrong I apologize in advance. If I turn out to be wrong with a reasonable amount of proof and community agreement, I will transfer 0.1 BTC to the user that I am accusing.

Please confirm Jakers as a scammer on the list. There is plenty of confirmation in the "beware of jakers" thread.
Thanks.

Here is the complete chat log. I did not start saving copies of my sent messages to my outbox until I realized he was ignoring my messages and the deal was going south. Notice at 1:05 pm he said he would send 1/3 of payment. Never got it. Then at 1:57 pm he said give him 5-6 hours to finish a trade. I have not heard from him since. My wallet address: 19W7Pihcc9tDUVnfP3JZL9w5DSik2gDNyh

If Jakers has make good on your trades please post that also.

Avoid doing business with this Jakers guy.

This guy is a scammer and absolutely terrible at being a decent human being online. He has not being timely in returning my private messages, he will read them and then chose not to respond, and still has not sent the bitcoins. Although he is claiming he has to get them from several different places? We all know this is bullsh!t and it's comparable to this user's attitude as well. He is an arrogant self-righteous a-hole who is a pain to deal with. I recommend anyone who is thinking about trading with not to do so.
File a report. Sarcasm?

Jakers offered to buy my Xbox code. I replied with a question and said that the amount he offered is acceptable. He never replied. Glad I didn't send the code... https://i.imgur.com/GiU2bxm.jpg(Disclaimer: the above doesn't prove he is a scammer... he may just be untimely at responding) As of right now the public perception of him is not good and he is not doing anything to help it. I would love for him to prove me wrong though. I would much rather have have gc codes or BTC instead of being right about him being a scammer.

Good posts. Guys. Even if you get scammed (which Sucks) it helps alert the community so other can avoid the same fate.
If this guy does get the scammer take, just beware that he will probably be back with a new nick so just be on the look out for similar behavior (by new Jakers and other similar scammers)
Here is what jakers is doing.
He doesn't really own any bitcoin.
he is buying your gift codes then going on otc and trying to sell it. I've seen him not be very successful there is reselling your bitcoin. In fact I don't know that anyone has successfully traded with him there either.
So in essence he is taking receipt of your code and cashing it and not paying because he does not yet own the bitcoin.
If he said he was taking your code on consignment that would be another matter.
jakers is a SCAMMER.
Yes. And I would have known that if I did more homework on the guy besides looking at this vouch thread he created himself. This dude is broke. I noticed that on Jan 22 he requested a loan in the Lending forum. How do you claim to be such a big gc trader but you never have any BTC or other funds? I noticed a screenshot he did of his MB account that had got froze. A whopping $61. Broke dude probably needed the wally world gc's more than I did anyway

Scammed by Jakers
Damn shame he would ruin his forum rep by dipping off with some wally world gc's. Oh well, my fault for not using escrow.
Mods, you can close and lock this
