This takes my time but I get it at last. On coinomi wallet.

You aren't a Newbie or Jr Member but I'll toss you a merit for effort.
9662  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Casascius 2012 Bitnickel Blank on: September 13, 2020, 10:42:07 PM
using your btc to buy this from mike would have been a horrible return on investment

It is funny when people say things like this because something hasn't returned as much as BTC, which is everything pre-2017 other than BTC.  I consider my Casascius purchases to be among the greatest return on investment of anything I've ever purchased in my life, yet to you they have been "a horrible return on investment."

Pics added to OP.

Bump....  OG - please post the PM

Why beg me to post the PM and then start crying on other threads that I posted the PM before I even fill your request?  Are you looking for sympathy for your stupidity or trying to make me look like a bad guy for doing what you asked again?

Do you want me to post your PM here, or will you cry and complain about me for filling your request?  I want you to be clear I have your blessing so the moderators don't delete it.
9665  Economy / Collectibles / [SOLD] Casascius 2012 Bitnickel Blank on: September 12, 2020, 06:40:27 PM
I've got a Casascius 2012 Bitnickel Blank I'm willing to sell if anyone is looking for one.

Asking 0.02 BTC.  Shoot me a PM or post here if you're interested.  Pics available to make a deal, or I may post some eventually if there is no interest.

Thanks!

Pics!

Been sitting in this slab/bag for years...

Btw, @op don't you think your giveaway can be abused since you are giving merits to newbie rank for simple task?

No, it isn't abuse for them to receive a reward for doing a task, it's participation.  Only 2 Newbies/Jr Members have managed to do it yet anyway, so it seems that maybe to them it isn't such a simple task.
9667  Other / Off-topic / Re: Xbox Series S for 299! on: September 11, 2020, 09:18:40 PM
I see no reason for myself to buy an X-Box when there is a computer that does a good job with its gaming tasks.

Many PC users feel this way.  Personally, I prefer playing games laying on my couch looking at a big screen instead of in a computer chair staring at a monitor.
9668  Other / Archival / Re: [Merit] Hey Newbies! Can You Sign A Message? on: September 11, 2020, 09:12:45 PM
So far no Newbies or Jr Members have provided a signed message.  I gave out a few merit to Members to try and get the ball rolling, but would love to see some Newbies provide a signed message.

It seems like a nice initiative but I just read about dust attacks, isn't it unsafe to post addresses here and there so that people associate the address with your username?
If the idea is to be anonymous, why publish addresses?

Dust attacks isn't really a thing.  There is nothing forcing you to ever spend the dust, so as long as you know how to properly manage your wallet and not include dust in your transactions, there is no harm.

Linking a Bitcoin address to your username doesn't seem unsafe to me and you could always use a new address for this single task.

The idea behind Bitcoin isn't to be anonymous.

I'm asking users to publish a signed message for their own educational purpose, providing them with merit as a reward for doing so.

Hey Newbies (& Jr Members)! I want to give you the opportunity to earn some merit by using your Bitcoin client (or whatever you use). There is a great guide linked below showing you how to sign a message. If you can sign a message from your Bitcoin address with your bitcointalk username, post it here and I will send you merit. Enjoy!

This thread is like a who’s who of sexist morons. I’m sure there are many more women in crypto than is assumed but likely not as high as the % of virgins on this thread.

This is a great website showing air quality in the US. You can really see the massive effect the California fires are having on the west coast.

9673  Other / Off-topic / Re: 10 BTC Casascius peeled and redeemed yesterday on: September 09, 2020, 07:47:06 PM
You could make the argument that peeling and being able to sell the BTC quickly at high prices without having to wait for a deal to complete and hoping the exchange rate cooperates is an advantage to peeling with another reduction in risk.

It no longer seems foolish to peel these coins, but I believe this is the market responding to low premiums. Peeling will likely be a trend that continues until premiums increase, which will happen at some point as in tact Casascius coins become more and more rare.
9674  Other / Off-topic / Xbox Series S for 299! on: September 09, 2020, 06:54:01 PM
I've heard the pricing of Microsoft's new (low end) game console might be popular in the UK/Internationally due to it's pricing, especially compared to what PS is going to be offering.  Anyone overseas have an opinion on this?  Will this get some PC gamers onto consoles?  Will this get PS users to switch to Xbox?

9675  Other / Off-topic / Re: 10 BTC Casascius peeled and redeemed yesterday on: September 08, 2020, 08:45:44 PM
I cannot imagine peeling and redeeming that much at one time.

What about it is unimaginable? Do you find the act of redeeming scary as if a mistake could be made and the coins would be lost, or is it handling and transacting with multiple BTC that is intimidating?
9676  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: How to protect yourself from fake giveaways. on: September 08, 2020, 08:36:48 PM
Not entering giveaways is the method I typically prefer. Although if you trust the entity running the giveaway it shouldn’t be much of an issue.
9677  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you think the meaning of life is? Or at least to you? on: September 08, 2020, 08:33:39 PM
I think most people overestimate the importance of our existence.  We are basically just ants stuck on a log in a pond.  What do you think the meaning of their life is?
9678  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will the world governments ever allow crypto to survive? What next? on: September 05, 2020, 02:01:39 AM
Bitcoin is too small and restrictive to ever become a global, or even a national, currency, so I doubt if they will spend the time and effort to try to block it.

Have you looked at the top currency list lately? Bitcoin is already larger than most national currencies. If the stock to flow ratio holds true, it would be large enough to be a global currency in about 15 months. If it’s size is what’s holding it back, it will be because Bitcoin has grown too large and it’s technology cannot support the necessary throughput with it’s current blocksize.

9680  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do some miners only confirm their own transaction? on: September 04, 2020, 04:46:30 AM
The short answer is that every millisecond counts if your operation is big enough.

Source: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/why-do-some-bitcoin-mining-pools-mine-empty-blocks-1468337739

Quote
Why are there empty blocks?
When a mining pool receives a new block from a competitor, it needs to perform a few actions: download the full block, validate its transactions and define a new block to mine on. During this – albeit short -interval, so as not to waste hashing power, they start mining a new block. Only the coinbase transaction is included, so the previous block does not invalidate theirs with a duplicate transaction.

This validationless mining (or SPV mining) phenomenon can be seen on the Kaiko blockchain page, with empty blocks being mined just after a normal block, when the mempool is far from empty.
