9721  Other / Meta / Re: Trading Site - Spam or Not? on: November 27, 2016, 10:12:34 AM
You mean, appearing to promote another consensus implementation, other than the currently running/adopted one, is not allowed??
Consensus implementation (e.g. Bitcoin Core, Bitcore) != consensus breaking implementation (e.g. Bitcoin Classic). However, it would not get removed but just moved to the Altcoin section or something. It's more on a case-by-case basis.
9722  Other / Meta / Re: Trading Site - Spam or Not? on: November 27, 2016, 09:48:17 AM
Does the post below constitute spamming or can it be posted?
-snip-
I do not understand the exact context of that thread. PM me a preview with the section that you want to post it in.

If i wanted to posit an opinion about Core, where on this forum can i do that, without the post getting deleted?
As long as you do not FUD (strong and reasonable criticism != FUD) or try to promote potentially consensus breaking implementations, then Bitcoin Discussion is the section for it.

9724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: wow ,almost 30,000 unconfirmed trans on: November 27, 2016, 07:34:36 AM
Well, I have missed that part. Last time I read about it, it was 1.7 to 1.8 MB, which is still substantial, but still modest considering that some 18 months ago, there was a proposal from leading BTC developers to raise the block size to 8 MB.
Well, you can't call something that is 2-2.1x marginal though, regardless of what was proposed. If I created a proposal with 100 MB blocks, I could just call BU modest then? Besides, there is no way that 8 MB blocks would be accepted today in terms of safety and resource usage.

So this crisis is over, but I have no doubt there will another one not far from now.
A lot of people don't seem to understand that it's not possible to largely scale Bitcoin (in its current form) on-chain while preserving decentralization. Regardless of what block size limit you put on there, those are just patches to a gun wound.

The moment the price of of bitcoin inflates the miners cannot cope up with the transactions traffic.
Those events are not related at all. "Miners can't cope" is also misleading. The consensus rules dictate the maximum amount of data/transactions that can be transferred, not the miners.
9725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scaling Bitcoin. Is consensus achievable? on: November 27, 2016, 07:28:46 AM
Actually SegWit needs 95% of the Miner's Hash to be accepted ,
1 Mining Pool with 8% said they will block it in favor of a hard fork with larger block size.
If everyone else accepts it, they will either join them or get outhashed.

You only need ~70% of the hash to have a successful hard fork, so it is odd SegWit is pushed for more.
No. You need 95%.

A Hard Fork is no Big Deal, Schedule the update a few weeks later after the software is ready .
This is completely misleading. Such a hard fork would be very dangerous. I highly advise you to stop trolling now, you are very untrustworthy.

now lets get back ontopic of scaling bitcoin
A great options is available today, it just requires more awareness and support. Short-term scaling solved.
9726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: wow ,almost 30,000 unconfirmed trans on: November 27, 2016, 12:27:06 AM
At least now we have less than 5.000 unconfirmed transactions, this week show to you all an alert even so it's more fast than others transfer methods even with a big chaos.

3.000 now Smiley
False. Stop thinking that there is some kind of singular entity (i.e. "the Mempool"). In other words, stop thinking that one service contains all of the unconfirmed transactions of the network in their mempool. This website (e.g.) shows over 15 000 in their mempool (my node is between 15 and 20k right now).

That said, it surely has cleared up nicely now.

Another person who doesn't know how 0.13.1 works Smiley
It seems like you're the one who doesn't know anything here. Explain the following in conjecture with your statement "0.13.1 will not connect to 0.13.0 or lower" then:

A 0.13.1 node connecting to peers that are older than 0.13.1. Is this magic? Roll Eyes
9728  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Post your SegWit questions here - open discussion - big week for Bitcoin! on: November 27, 2016, 12:08:04 AM
So I guess no one noticed the blacklisting in the new 0.13.1 code?

So if you run 0.13.1 you will find that it will connect to other 0.13.1 nodes on the network, but not to 0.13.0 or lower.
Clear and utter FUD. My node runs 0.13.1 and the majority of connections is not even to 0.13.1 nodes. It is so sad to see you go down this road.
9729  Economy / Collectibles / Re: First Ethereum Coin, Silver Cryptolator, Gold plated silver liberty mint Bitcoin on: November 27, 2016, 12:05:29 AM
I can confirm that I am the buyer of: #4 - 3 x 2015 NOLA Coins "First Editions 4/5" - 0.5 BTC, 1 BTC, and 3 BTC.
Zepher
What do you think about these prices? Seems a bit overkill especially considering the number on the cryptolator.

#6 Cryptolator SPECIAL EDITION ONE OFF "COLORS Blue" Non Numbered .10 btc bit coin - 0.75BTC
#8 Silver Cryptolator SPECIAL EDITION 1 of 100 - 1.36BTC

These look pretty neat, if there is going to be an official announcement I'm subscribed.  Smiley
The announcement is official, just in another thread. Follow the quoted post.
9732  Economy / Collectibles / Re: First Ethereum Coin, Silver Cryptolator, Gold plated silver liberty mint Bitcoin on: November 26, 2016, 08:39:53 PM
Wow wish i would have caught that deal all the same this coin is posted in auction on ebay will see what it will bring there the price i posted above is only a buy it now price would be willing to lower that to .65BTC the fact that this is the first ethereum coin and there is only 100 of them makes it more rare than the standard 1 of 100 coin
Do you intend to only sell a few coins (e.g. ETH's, Specie) or do you plan to sell a lot more from the main picture?
9733  Economy / Collectibles / Re: First Ethereum Coin, Silver Cryptolator, Gold plated silver liberty mint Bitcoin on: November 26, 2016, 08:24:35 PM
Yes, please check your PM's as Lauda asks. There is a several coins I am interested in (not the Species). Thank you.
It's quite hard to tell from the pictures what exactly they have. I suggested to them that they list them via a nice textual format, e.g. :
Quote
1x Coin1
2x Coin2
...
There's definitely a lot of interesting stuff that people (including me) may be interested in.
9734  Other / Meta / Re: Definition of Spamming on: November 26, 2016, 07:07:11 PM
Is that considered spamming?
Usually yes.
9735  Other / Archival / Re: . on: November 26, 2016, 06:10:26 PM
Set 11 has been reserved for Zepher

OP will be changed shortly Smiley

Viz
I think they should continue with a thread here, or just use this one. I do not think that many collectors use the Services section (especially since it gets flooded by other stuff).

Mantis Update solutions?
9736  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Free] Friends of Satoshi Giveaway (Autographs, Apparel, Coins + More) on: November 26, 2016, 05:51:40 PM
We've been thinking about this and everyone agrees there needs to be more ways to enter!
Sounds good!

2) Pre-Order a Limited Edition Coin (https://www.friendsofsatoshi.com/product/limited-edition-coin/) and you will automatically be entered (Prizes will ship with your order).
Can you give us more information on this one. What material is used?
9737  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lutpin and Lauda : Please ? on: November 26, 2016, 05:39:06 PM
Please, can we start a Lauda gender discussion here? Those are always the most fun to watch? Is it a male, is it a female, is it an apache? Nobody knows.
Ok, their parents maybe, if they checked early enough.
That would be most interesting indeed! I'm certain my parents are unsure of my gender. Embarrassed

Shh!

Now what will you say LAUDA ?
That does not unban you. This unbans the IP address used. This is due to the possibility that multiple users may be using the same VPN or Tor node for example.
9738  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Free] Friends of Satoshi Giveaway (Autographs, Apparel, Coins + More) on: November 26, 2016, 05:35:04 PM
Great giveaway! It would be nice if one could somehow enter without having a Youtube account.
9739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: wow ,almost 30,000 unconfirmed trans on: November 26, 2016, 05:31:00 PM
In other words, could there be a blacklist of Bitcoin addresses?
That sets a very dangerous precedence and I would be against that. However, miners are able to do that should they choose to.
9740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: wow ,almost 30,000 unconfirmed trans on: November 26, 2016, 05:02:17 PM
your presuming the increase in mempool was due to...........
black friday? spam?
Switching back the topic? No, not black friday. The mempool was actually much smaller on Black Friday, so it's more likely to be spam (the spike).

have you ASKED why, RESEARCHED why, or just presumed.
Researched. It is almost most certainly someone spamming up the chain. Unless you want to tell me that we have *genuine* users with multisig addresses that are dormant for months and suddenly create over 1k transactions each during those two days? Roll Eyes
