981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to the Bitcoin network if Russia blocks access to the internet? on: March 11, 2022, 12:31:41 PM
If Russia disconnects itself from the internet then I think they'll face a lot of negative consequences (not only with bitcoin but with engineering and other advancements too).

I wish President Putin is here or has some representatives from his cabinet who can read and tell him all this for him to reconsider his decision. His action will hurt more people than he thinks he will gain. It is the same way the US and their allies should read too. The boycott of the internet in Russia can come from either Putin or the EU as sanction. Time will tell. This war is not only affecting Ukraine, it is also hitting the Russians harshly too. Innocent souls are being massacred in both countries.
982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: March 11, 2022, 10:29:40 AM
Usyk has joined civil defense and is protecting his country. It will take a lot of time before war ends, he gets some rest (mentally more than physically), then I think he will help to rebuilt city or do some volunteer work and return to training. As well as it will take time to settle all organizational matters and etc. It will take years before this rematch might happen.

I have thought of what the outcome will be if things do not go well for Usyk during this war as he went to defend his country. I do not wish him any harm but people do die in wars. War is not a right time to guaranty safety or anyone. What if he dies in the war? AJ better set his mind on getting someone else to fight so he can keep himself in shape. Like you said no one knows when this senseless Putin madness will stop.
983  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blame Game in gambling on: March 11, 2022, 08:14:29 AM
I would consider it a negligence on parents behalf as it was their first duty to keep an eye on their children.

Because the story ended sadly everyone is looking for who to blame. If the deceased gambler had hit a jackpot we would have called him a gem or clever. Gambling is like smoking or drinking or humanising, people are warned of the dangers in them but they do not pay heed to warnings. Once they get addicted, staying off it or stopping it becomes very hard. I do not blame anyone but the gambler himself. He knew what he was doing and allowed it to consume him, not his parents.

986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EBAY might accept BITCOIN on: March 10, 2022, 10:43:34 AM

It will be fantastic if EBay begins to accept bitcoin. With time Alibaba, Konga, Jiji, Jumia and other meaningful shopping outlets will embrace that payment option and that will be very big for the struggle for mass adoption for bitcoin. Already we have seen what bitcoin adoption is doing for Ukraine in this war with Russia. I want to see this take place as quickly as it can be.
987  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 10, 2022, 08:42:12 AM
I was not expecting Real Madrid to qualify by winning PSG, from 0 - 2 goals down to 3 - 2, I even thought PSG may go to final and may have more chance to win but I was very wrong.

That is why football is the most unpredictable sport among all sport competitions. You can get heartbreak at the dying minute. PSG was the favorite going into that game but it was never to be. They very played well in the first half but the second half exposed their lack of coordination and discipline.

Benzema was more than the man of the match. We can call him Doctor of the match because he lifted up more downcasted hearts yesterday and shattered that of those who believe that Messi is a god. I like how the match ended. It was value for time spent watching it. We all have to begin to see that Messi and Ronaldo have both gone past their prime and let them rest. Age is no longer on their side.
988  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Increase in online sales price on: March 10, 2022, 07:58:04 AM

as banks fail and the hope of all Ukrainians depends on bitcoin, and the future of Russia's economy would also rely on bitcoin due to sanctions imposed by NATO and the EU, forcing them to legalize bitcoin as the only means of international trade.

But the rumour weh deh ground be say America and EU fit take vex ban bitcoin so they can wicked Russia more. This one fear me when I read about am and e fit happen. America fit do anything to rubbish Russia apart from wetin go affect their country. This war going on don begin to not make sense to me. Eh deh make me reason say so many things no deh the way news deh carry am. So many hidden secrets unexposed with all the parties weh deh involved for the war.
991  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic effects after Russia blocks Facebook, Twitter, etc.! on: March 09, 2022, 07:22:58 AM
Let's not forget that Social media are also being used as a Propaganda tool by some Russian people and they are trying to justify this war. I have seen some Russian people celebrating the invasion and also mocking Ukrainian people on social media.

The story says the social media ban is by Russia itself and not the EU or any international community blocking them. You think if the Russians celebrate and mock Ukrainian people on social media will not be to their advantage? The reason for Putin putting a social media ban on his country is because he knows that, America and the EU will eventually ban Russia. It will happen.
992  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic effects after Russia blocks Facebook, Twitter, etc.! on: March 09, 2022, 06:48:07 AM
Secondly from my own perspective, i see Russia maybe trying to emulate what China did by blocking all international service providers and their satellites in China thereby building its own from within, using their own Chinese google and internet and all other social and economical services both online and in physical as within China such as vehicles, phones, home appliances etc. All were China home made and their official language is Chinese. Possibly this may be one of Putin reasons to stir up war, got disconnected from the SWIFT service providers and later come up with it own system from within and this will help them maintain more privacy and i think that's why they wanted to first conquer Ukraine which may be use as an entry point by EU, US or any other foreign country.

But China did not start a war to achieve all that. Russia under Putin is power drunk and does not care whatever happens to anyone for him to achieve whatever his mind is chasing. He should have banned his citizens from using social media and created his own applications without getting into war. Putin will end up destroying himself like Hitler. Maybe somebody in his cabinet will shoot the idiot in the face soon and end all this.
993  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia has attacked nuclear power plant in Ukraine on: March 09, 2022, 06:30:50 AM
President Putin is making a reckless move that will cost so many lives in Europe and taking the war towards a nuclear power plant is not a proper step. What kind of intention does he have for the Europeans?

Let the idiot Putin continue destroying his country by his actions by drawing so many sanctions to Russia. Economy, football, entertainment and others are getting sanctioned in Russia by Europe. Let us watch how Russia will come out of all this. He brags because of his nuclear ammunitions and want to make himself another Adolph Hitler. The world will also conquer him too.
994  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: March 08, 2022, 01:28:59 PM

@cryptobrainboss you dey correct oh but still education dey put food on people's table, I believe in hustle too but I believe more in people, if person feel say him fit make am from book then fine with his own hard work him go make am.

Na skills Cryptobrainboss deh emphasise and not paper qualification. Whether person go school or not but get skill the person go fit survive. As person deh university make them go learn skill join am. No too rely on your university qualification alone, that university paper no mean much again.
996  Economy / Gambling / Re: Join a collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms on: March 06, 2022, 04:05:47 PM
I think we should boycott these business not based not their nationality but on their bad business practices. So, while I support to boycott 1xbit for being a shitty casino, I can't support the idea just because they are Russians. Did they do the invading? No. Why would I care about their nationality then? If they provide an honest service, they shouldn't have anything to fear.

Your thought is correct on the 1xbit thing. It is a shitty and scam casino and those who are in their signature campaigns here are not to be trusted also. They know 1xbit scams people and yet they are promoting them. That is bad. On the boycott of businesses in Russia, I do not support it. Like you said, they did not do the invading of Ukraine and so why should their business suffer. It is good for people to be angry with Russia but to call for the boycott of private businesses is not a good idea. They can boycott government owned businesses if they want but not private businesses.
997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi network on: March 06, 2022, 02:05:42 PM
Everything is already clear with this project. It has no value, it has been announced more than once on this forum. Why support something that potentially has no value and has the characteristics of fraud?

Everyone here knows that Pi network is only a dream. Those who support the false token are definitely not members of our forum, otherwise they will know it will not amount to anything. I see Pi as a waste of time instead of calling it a fraud.

Lol, it's already 2022, and yet still PI is still in existence? this project is blatant scam and has been exposed already in the community.

If the team is not asking anyone for money I do not believe it should be called a scam. It is just a waste of time.
998  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-02-26] Putin’s attack triples Ukrainian crypto exchange’s trading volume on: March 06, 2022, 01:32:55 PM
I hope people are actually removing their coins from the exchanges, rather than just trading on them though. If unfortunately Russia are victorious in their unwarranted aggression against Ukraine, then any coins left in the control of third parties will be at risk of seizure.

I fear this will be one of the irrational decisions Putin can take again as he is on a mission to cause anyone on his path sorrow and destruction. And if any of those exchanges are found to be among those supporting Ukraine according to this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5387875.msg59432169#msg59432169 then they already plotted their own downfall. Putin is more likely to see their actions as sabotage and conspiracy to frustrate his plan of subjecting Ukraine to humiliation.
999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Centralised Exchanges are the Biggest Enemies of Bitcoin on: March 06, 2022, 05:46:43 AM

Centralised exchanges are not criminal enterprise and bitcoin haters. Consider how far it has brought bitcoin awareness and transactions to the people. Consider how easy it is now to transact bitcoin and other cryptos and what it was 10 years ago. How many decentralised exchanges are even here now to start with, talkless of how it was a decade ago. We should learn to appreciate things step by step. The only problem I see with centralised exchanges is just that they keep customers funds and can deny them access because of one thing or the other. Minus that, centralised exchanges have done more good than bad for cryptocurrency.
1000  Economy / Gambling / Re: Join a collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms on: March 06, 2022, 05:37:32 AM

Now I know the reason why 1xbit is stubborn and refusing to stop its scams. It is acting stubborn like the country where it operates. I never knew it was a Russian betting site. Like stubborn Putin like 1xbit. No one should expect any change of attitude from it. This war is going to destroy Russia businesses. I know this suggested boycott is to force Putin's hand so he can make a turn but those who own the businesses will suffer more losses than Putin. I pity everyone who has businesses in Russia.
