In my opinion, it is better for a new altcoin to adopt a fixed rate reward because of fast distribution. At the initial phase, a fixed rate reward will generate more coins compared to the percentage one because of the total block mined daily. It helps the project to mine more coin and distribute it to many people, what a new project needs in the beginning is a community. Wide and fair distribution is needed to protect the network and help the project.
If the coin in circulation is too little at the initial phase, someone will try to manipulate the price and it might harm the future of the altcoin.

There is a big difference between both of them actually, the percentage based reward is giving more rewards compared to fix based reward because of the block.
here is why:
FIX based reward
Block reward: 5 coins
Block time: 20 second
The maximum coin will be generated daily is 21.600 coins no matter how many coins are in circulation right now because:
1 day = 86.400 seconds,
86.400 s/ 20 s = 4.320*5 coins = 21.600 coins
On the other hand, with the percentage based reward.
The total coin that will be generated is based on how many coins in circulation which means the more it is the higher the coin will be generated.

Staking service or staking pool has happened from many years ago until today, only PoS based project can do that.
If I can afford to hold it by myself, I would rather stake it on my own VPS other than giving it to the exchange.
But if you do not know how to do it or do not want to keep maintain it, giving it to the service provider is fine too.
This is not interest buy staking the coin to get a new coin because of proof of stake consensus.

You are right about your two last points but your missing a big one which is the most important in my case. For staking Dash yourself one must host a masternode which requires 1000 Dash which is currently nearly 72`000.- USD, I don’t have so much cash available  so with using the service of SMART VALOR, if I understand it correctly, I can profit from the 6.9% rewards without needing to invest 72k USD. Have you ever heard something called shared masternode before? it works the same as staking pool, shared masternode helps you to run 1 masternode even though you do not have a full coin to run 1 masternode. With shared masternode, you and other people together collecting 1000 Dash to run 1 masternode. That is exactly what the exchange is trying to provide. I was talking about it before, the staking pool and shared masternode are technically the same. |

I have done it before and it did not worth it, there is a reason for them to extend the bounty. Usually, it is because they do not meet their target on the sales, by extending the bounty and the sales time, they are hoping they can hit the target in the sales.
I have participated in 2 or 3 projects before, and all of them gave me nothing. They ran away because they can not afford to run the project with limited money.
