This is actually a lambo and practical and I suggest also using it to carry some gold bars not spending just for supercars.    Working assets is the best way to save, diversify to meet future costs hence why property used to be such a good idea.   Land and the skills to build a house or help build a house seems a good investment imo, never stay all in one thing outside of speculation

Is nobody using the new higher maximum speed for HBM2 on vega which is 1200 mhz.   I was wondering which protocol likes this most of all.   Doesnt seem this requires much more voltage to achieve and Ive read the timings are not looser to enable it either so it should help somewhere.
Use 1999 mhz not 1200 if you test or even 1170
9843  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 04, 2017, 01:13:54 PM
Its always more positive to confirm a price, volatility is also represented by a rise as well as a fall.   Especially if the rise is above the overall trend which is immediately true.

I was going to say a normal fib pullback would be more like it
Downside target 6407 very bullish ranging through 6101 to 5857 for a reasonable pullback just nearterm. 5687 is top of the longer term bullish channel for this year, similar to lows for last month
9844  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bought my first BTC @ $4600, slightly worried on: November 04, 2017, 01:09:36 PM
Price doesnt really prove anything, its still best to buy in regularly as it can be far longer to rise overall.  In 2017 however there is a trend up so you picked the right year but I would not assume it will always act positively in this time frame.  Tthe negative news narrative can sometimes be called the wall of worry, where news is negative vs a positive trend and people say this is more bullish.    The coin itself doesnt earn or return an investment, its closer to a commodity traded.
9845  Economy / Economics / Re: [CHART] Bitcoin Inflation vs. Time on: October 31, 2017, 12:25:38 AM
The difference between bitcoins and fiscal currencies is precisely that they are absolutely not subjected with inflation and they are not affected by dollar, euro, yuan and other currencies. But there are fluctuations in its own course. It must be monitored. Bitcoin not depends from the time.

You probably think dollar is inflating because they are printing lots of dollars all the time? That's somehow true, but same affects also bitcoin because more coins are generated by mining. There are just much less new coins.

Ps. Thanks for OP for the graph.

Inflation relates to the monetary base expansion, dollar is the worst of all here because new dollars far exceed growth in the economy.   Gold has received more mining then was ever possibly produced prior to the industrial revolution however it still matches population growth globally so is not devalued effectively.
Bitcoin deliberately tries to regulate its mining and rate of production, I actually think the blocks should be produced faster such that technology can secure but its not set that way and so we had previously a problem with a backlog.

The reason dollar is far worse is because its only control is politics, not business or capitalism but the uncontrolled spending by a centralised power.   Worse still this currency is used all over the world in economies not related to its origin and is held as world currency.  This has allowed great distortion in its value to continue without great feedback.   I think its a reasonable assumption that when the standard fails it will have a vast acceleration in inflation and its possible dollar has no worth at all because of loss of confidence.
9846  Economy / Speculation / Re: Historical day bitcoin price 6000 $ on: October 29, 2017, 02:33:29 PM
The JP Morgan criticism isnt wrong just because a higher price is reached.   His reference would be to stability and long term efficiency vs competitors in global currency and bitcoin is still just a small thing overall.   As bitcoin has a restricted money supply and dollars are vastly over inflated in order to pay government bills where they run a budget deficit for decades and have trillions in war debt without a likely repayment plan, yes bitcoin should rise in value vs dollars.

This doesnt mean bitcoin is rising in value, it can just be that dollars are losing value and bitcoin is doing better right now.   When or if dollar is destablised beyond use and no longer a world currency its still possible that bitcoin can no longer float or is not viable vs other crypto standards.    We cant assume that, the worst thing would be to assume sucess instead of working towards it and providing value for those that do use bitcoin and hold it for its utility.   I dont think we can rest yet just because of a nominal figure appearing, most work is still to be done and history is ahead of us not behind.   This is all calm water sailing so far imo :p
9847  Economy / Economics / Re: Central of the Philippines Recognizes Bitcoin on: October 28, 2017, 10:18:47 PM
what a great news to our cryptocurrency community. And dont you know that Vietnam has just made a new law to bitcoin and with that law, bitcoin is somehow forbidden in this country. Anyone who is found using bitcoin will have to jail or pay 150,000,000 VND which equal to $6500

I had not heard of that news before now.   Vietnam does have a long term problem with excessive inflation, its form of taxation by government on the people by their printing of money.     Its not then surprising the government wants to force people to use only paper money they print even when its value is undermined to pay government bills.

I have heard how houses in Vietnam are priced in blocks of gold because it takes too long to arrange a sale before the paper sale price changes again.   Neither side can agree a price that suits both and so the business and exchange of goods are surpressed.
This is always bad for every country, less business and trade means all citizens become poorer.   Bitcoin is actually trying to help the people but government on their wages wont accept this, its also true in other countries.

Philippines may not want to allow so much dollar influence or accepts the positives of bitcoin business can bring.
9848  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 25, 2017, 08:04:09 AM
I remember those graphs, would have been more useful if it combined the volume from multiple exchanges just like its not all clear now in the various currencies.  Price looks to have reset fully within its higher range, look for 5600 area as possible resistance to any larger recovery.

33459 CNY or higher is a reasonable bullish hold overall
9849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: October 24, 2017, 06:07:09 PM
Guys, if you have good memory cooling cards there are some good news.
Original idea from overclock.net's gupsterg and Nuke33 and me.
We found a way to overclock HBM2 memory further.
All is done via softpowerplay.
Seems it can oc stable to 1150-1170 mhz.
eth speed goes to 46.2+mhs (old 44.2).
xmr goes to 21502050+h/s (old 1990).
It is Vega64 LC 1408/1150@905mV
No other tweaks except memory speed boost applied.
Consumption increase is negligible.

This sounds great and that is low voltage at 905 only but does this require very low temperature or would air work maybe also.  HBM2 temp gauge shows much higher temperate then gpu temp sometimes so I wonder if its a problem.
I think over 80c the card is not stable at high clocks.  Its liquid cooled so I presume its a factor, if I can keep HBM2 in the 60's will that be low enough to get the same results I wonder or it needs lower
9850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No ICO on: October 24, 2017, 06:13:01 AM
I have 10000 Black coins on Bittrex I bought them under 3k and I want them in my wallet. How to configure my holdings for maximum stacking power? How should i divide this amount on different addresses or this is not necessary? What can I expect daily? I'm using wallet v1.2.4 this is latest and stable one, right?  This story about segwith, is this joke or there are real plans for integration?

You can store 10,000 coins all in one wallet and there is no advantage to splitting them into different wallets that Ive heard of.   That is quite a lot of coins so it should stake every day or every other day, it depends on how much is stored on exchanges and isn't staking so your % is higher then
I thought to buy more but I do not see much action here so my money will flow into other undervalued projects. Team should do more about promoting, just to mention - announcing page should be rebranded. Do we have road-map somewhere?
I will transfer my coins to wallet and i will wait. Do i need to hold my wallet open whole the time, or I'm going to get my stake anyway?

The wallet is part of the confirmation network for the coin allowing such fast transfer times securely so it needs to be open in order to be useful really.    I swear I did read something about offline staking but I dont understand how that works or if it was just a discussion I misremembered.    The time to stake is like 1 day I think, after then you are 'live'

In the bottom right of the wallet it shows a symbol to show if the coins are staking or not
9851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: October 23, 2017, 10:58:31 PM
Not sure what happened to Kraken, is that a technical bug in their graph maybe.   Present price is a retest of support, this is true for CNY and probably also the dollar exchanges.   5810 is the dollar upper support range to hold I think [to remain bullish].

I drew in a downward channel, upper band 5900 and lower 5700 just to mark progress of this current short term trend.  Right this moment, watch resistance approaching 5,700 is my guess

The main issue for Vega 56 is getting some at the proper RRP price and not higher.   I wouldnt buy them at the higher price when you can get nvidia or any other card cheaper, it is a good card overall though.  Ive seen a few places with ok prices, sometimes you need to sell the games that come with it maybe.
I'm trying to build an 8 gpu single rig with vega 56 cards.

While waiting for the cards to arrive, do you think I will be able to enable HBCC on all of them ? Is it only a memory issue or a driver problem?

Im not sure but HBCC sometimes needs 3gb so for 8 cards that might be 24gb and thats not going to work.   I dont think all 8 would be possible, hbcc for 4 is what I remember someone got to work
9854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best wallet to store btc during hardfork to get bitcoin gold on: October 21, 2017, 02:16:16 AM
You need to control the private key for your bitcoin address.  That is the bottom line basically, so any wallet which allows that can be ok.   The exchanges are not giving you this control and you rely on that company maybe even just one person for integrity of your holdings.    In some cases the better sites, exchanges and various holders of BTC will stop to sort out some kind of allocation to alternate chains but its not a normal situation.

The simple advice I would state to use mycelium on a mobile phone, when you do that it allows you to backup the private key and then use that anywhere.  So you arent even then relying on mycellium for your btc address, its just a tool that has you with the private key.  Other situations you are using a login and someone else has the private key for your holdings.

Its the first link on google, mycelium

In the newbies section but feels like everyone could read this and gain something.   Im not confident enough to be trading shorter time frames, I prefer to call a long trend line and have more confidence in that trend being held as significant by the market.   I will follow on youtube.
Any opinions on the OBV indicator for direction
9856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU for 1060s/1070s? on: October 21, 2017, 01:39:49 AM
^^ I like that idea of two psu and you can connect them to supply the machine.   Its definitely possible to do this but you need connectors to synchronise them, usually they are sold together but Im sure its also possible to just build along the way.

For single PSU I agree with people saying 1000w even though its likely not needed so much for even multiple nvidia cards.   Most mining is not done by maxing out card wattage like a game might but actually trying to get the most efficient sweet spot in hash to watts used.   So I most setups using quite low amounts, nvidia tends to use less then amd also.

Another factor is the quality of PSU, if you can get a gold or platnium psu it will help reduce bills as it requires less energy from the socket in order to provide that 1000 watts or less to the machine.
9857  Economy / Speculation / Re: Historical day bitcoin price 6000 $ on: October 21, 2017, 12:26:14 AM
We dont celebrate the Chinese round numbers as historical days, not even 30,000 ?    Hopefully its not too notable because people tend to sell off at round numbers for silly reasons.

It did halt at 30,000 CNY slightly but I think now 33459 is probably more of a border to the current move.  Not as easy to remember though Cheesy
9858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No ICO on: October 20, 2017, 08:03:26 PM
Place -rescan in the launch options will usually readjust any local discrepancies.   To do that on windows just create a shortcut to the wallet exe and then in target -recan just goes on the end.  When the wallet starts it will double check everything and might take a while to do that but should be ok to just leave it to check back on later
9859  Economy / Economics / Re: What will happen if we use a one currency only? on: October 18, 2017, 10:25:27 PM
Having the world using the same currency will creat some balnce in the power,

That is an ideal not the reality, this is not theory as we have the current merging of economies and currency in Europe within the EU they operate the EURO.    This has seen Germany paired to Greece, which has greatly differing economies.  Greece might benefit from tourism where as Germany is an exporter of goods, one of the largest in the world.

Obviously any country can change but its not automatically beneficial for everyone to share exactly the same cost of money via the same interest rates across a large area, different languages and cultures.   Unfortunately I think the EURO does not benefit many countries and Germany sees a lower currency value then they would have otherwise.   As Germany exports the lower value to EURO helps them stay competitive and allows politics to benefit from high employment and ease of business.

Despite appearance one currency only does not create equality.  Its inevitable that every area needs some variance and accommodation to local circumstances.  I'm not a great believer in fixed currency standard like that.  The fixed interest rate operated by central banks such as the ECB is not capitalism, I'd hope crypto currency would do better and that seems likely as no one entity controls the returns on money given in the way that central banks do with FIAT
