I vote for LaudaM as moderator, also but it seems Bitcoin admin is not interesting to promote him now.
Maybe he think we still don't need moderator.
9902  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Migration crisis: Germany presses Europe into sharing refugees on: September 06, 2015, 08:05:01 AM
As I said in my previous post it's not only the Hungarians. The refugees landed in many other countries like Greece and didn't want to stay there.
They are after the benefits and want to settle in countries that simply pay you for having children. Germany for instance pays somewhere around 200€ for every child you have, even if you never had a job and can't say a word in German.

Wow.. in this case, each of the Syrian and Afghan refugees should produce a dozen children each and claim the welfare payments. € 2,400 per month is more than enough to have a good life in Germany. BTW.... I have heard that the child benefit payments in the United Kingdom are even higher than that in Germany.

It seems to me that this is a very simplified view of the cause of the immigration crisis in Europe.
The vast majority of these people are fleeing because of war and death in their countries.
I don't think they want to go to Germany because they will get a lot of money if they have more children.
What they want is primarily safety of their families, the opportunity to live normally again, find a job and earn for themselves and others.
Are not they people like us? Are they don't deserve a chance for a new life, away from the dangers of war and insecurity in their own country?

I really liked the simplicity and clarity of the illustration.

Very good explanation, great illustration Smiley
I recently tried to send money to my friend in Nepal.
WU was to expensive, he can't use paypal in his country, can't get international VISA card (only for use in India&Nepal), Bank wire fees also was to high (and to long wait to receive money) etc.
On the end I suggested to him to open BTC wallet and we solved our problem Smiley
It's really simple, fast and secure process.
Thanks God for bitcoin Smiley
9904  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] Rollin.io Signature & Avatar Campaign - NEW RULES Aug. 12th on: September 05, 2015, 07:42:46 PM
Unfortunately I have some bad news regarding this campaign. This campaign won't be continuing after all current participants have been paid out.

This campaign has been running for a good seven months now, but unfortunately the campaign hasn't been paying off as planned. I'll add this information to the original post in this thread, and I apologize for the inconvenience to all participants who will go looking for a different campaign.

Again, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the campaign isn't cost effective for Rollin. If you have any further questions about all of this be sure to ask me and I'll try and answer them for you.

Yes I have a question and a comment for you guitarplinker.

The question
Will you be moving to another sig campaign and running it, and if so which one because I will follow you

The comment
You should be very proud and pleased at what you have done here! you have all ways remained polite even when dealing with the clowns, payouts have been prompt and without issues..WELL DONE YOU!
Thanks for the kind words. Smiley But Patejl's answer was pretty accurate, as of now I won't be running any other campaigns, but if I'm asked to run a campaign of similar size to the Rollin one, chances are I'd probably accept an offer like that.

Its really sad that the Campaign is closing..
Will it be re-opened in Future?
Like Pips said, chances are this campaign won't resume again, but that's not 100% certain either. If the Rollin admin decides he wants to try the campaign again, then you might see it start up sometime in the future.

If this sig. campaign ever starts again I will surely join again Smiley
9905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine May Soon Legalize Bitcoin on: September 05, 2015, 03:06:18 PM
Quote from: Kuna Bitcoin Agency founder Michael Chobanian
Ukraine became the third country in the world after the UK and Canada, where the central bank decided to study the prospects of cryptocurrency in developing new financial technologies. This will ensure that we maintain our current leading position in the world of Bitcoin.

Prior to the meeting, the BFU prepared a lengthy presentation, which was then sent to any interested parties, explaining how Bitcoin works and prospects of its blockchain technology so that the talks would be more “constructive.”

The meeting was hailed as a success.

Quote from: Chobanian
I would conclude that the meeting was very positive, so the future is bright for Bitcoin in Ukraine.

It's good news for Bitcoin community Grin

It sound like great news but let's try not to speculate to much and wait for more official news.
I'm sure that Ukraine can't control bitcoin or regulate it but surely they can help Bitcoin expansion in their country.
They have a lot economic and political problems so hopefully they understand and see how bitcoin can help them Smiley
9906  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Migration crisis: Germany presses Europe into sharing refugees on: September 04, 2015, 08:18:05 AM
France agrees to proposed new quotas system and Brussels unveils plans to quadruple the number of people spread across most of the EU to 160,000

The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, looks set for victory in her campaign to press Europe into a new system of sharing refugees after France caved in to a proposed new quotas system and Brussels unveiled plans to quadruple the number of people spread across most of the EU.

In a major policy speech on Europe’s worst migration emergency, Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European commission, is to table proposals next Wednesday for the mandatory sharing of 160,000 refugees between 26 of the EU’s 28 countries

Britain, Ireland and Denmark are exempted from having to take part, but Dublin has already agreed to participate and David Cameron is under increasing pressure for Britain to pull its weight as the migration crisis escalates with scenes of chaos and misery on Europe’s borders.

Berlin and Paris have sought to maintain a common position for weeks, but the French equivocated on the key issue of binding quotas. On Thursday, the president, François Hollande, aligned himself with Merkel’s drive for compulsory EU sharing of refugees.

This is very serious issue for Europe now and the real test of European freedom and free society.
It's easy to talk about democracy and justice in times of peace but now we will see how European politicians are serious and consistent and if they can solve this problem.
If other countries refuse to accept refugees, it will only show their selfishness and narrow-mindedness.
This is much more than a political issue, this is a matter of basic humanity and solidarity towards one's neighbor who is in trouble.
Let's show understanding and help these unfortunate people.
9907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATMs spreading very slowly it seems... on: September 04, 2015, 08:08:18 AM
In some countries (like Germany) there is also much regulation and high costs for a BTC ATM.
I would like to see more ATMs but sadly the government doesn't support this idea.

Yes, true.
I think that banks and government will never accept bitcoin because it's decentralize and they can't control it.
If they can't control or regulate something, they will never allow officially.
We are lucky that nobody can stop Internet and we have a lot freedom online but when the moment comes to withdraw internet or bitcoin earnings to the actual bank account, then begin the real problems.
I had problem this year to file a tax return in my country because the IRS has no projected a special category of Internet earnings.
I guess we are lucky that at least we got our first Bitcoin ATM Smiley
9908  Economy / Services / Re: [CLOSING] Rollin.io Signature & Avatar Campaign on: September 04, 2015, 07:58:22 AM
Since the campaign will be closing soon, I figured I'd do some number crunching regarding the history of this campaign.

Some interesting numbers:
  • Over 10 BTC was paid out in total from this campaign
  • Over 4600 posts were paid for
  • Over 120 hours went into managing and running this signature campaign since it started in February (just on my end alone!)
  • When the campaign closes, it will have run for 215 days. Since at least 10 BTC was paid out total, it cost a minimum of 0.047 BTC per day to pay for this campaign.
  • Over 320 personal messages were exchanged about this campaign on Bitcointalk alone.
  • Since the campaign started in February, it has had three different people manage it for various amounts of time: devthedev, hilariousandco, and myself

This was great signature campaign, the best I ever joined!
I'm sad that this campaign will finish soon.
Thank you guitarplinker for your help and support.
I will leave your signature code (After September 12) until I find another sig. campaign, in gratitude for this beautiful seven months while the campaign lasted Smiley
9909  Other / Politics & Society / Re: OLDEST KORAN ‘DESTABILISES’ ISLAMIC HISTORY, SCIENTISTS SAY IT PRE-DATES MOHAMED on: September 02, 2015, 09:14:38 AM
I think that such an important document should be thoroughly checked and analyzed by leading experts.
There have already been examples of recent religious books take over some elements of the old religious books.
Koran also took some stories from Bible and probably it is possible that Koran used some customs and traditions (even religious stories) of the area where Islam originated.
In this way, perhaps Muhammad wanted to find easier way to reach new followers.
This is potentially a very explosive material and should be left to experts to verify its authenticity, and not to allow religious and political leaders to take advantage of this discovery for their own purpose.
9910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong time to invest in bitcoin with the confusion? on: September 02, 2015, 09:00:58 AM
It might be a bad time to invest into Bitcoin today as there's some dispute going on. However buying (investing) today will definitely bring your some money back when Bitcoin dispute is over and then the price continue to soar even higher. I would suggest newbie to invest now if they can handle downfall coming in the next few months. If not, better stay away.

Very good advice.
In any investment golden rule is the same: Invest just money you can afford to loose.
Also, patience is virtue and people who can wait are usually winners.
I'm just sorry that I didn't join bitcoin 2-3 years ago but doesn't matter.
I can wait, how long it takes, that value of bitcoin reach old level again.
In my opinion, this is still good time to invest in bitcoin.
9911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You are now able to use your bitcoins to shop at Walmart, Chipotle, gas stations on: September 02, 2015, 08:53:14 AM
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/21743/cardcash-adds-bitcoin-payments-gift-cards-thousands-us-retail-stores/

Quote
CardCash, an American online company that buys and sells discounted gift cards from thousands of national retailers, has begun to accept bitcoin payments. CardCash joins companies like Gyft and Fold that provide ways for Bitcoin users to interact with the massive gift card industry.

...

In September, CardCash expects to roll out its mobile app that will allow people with a bitcoin wallet to buy gift cards online instantly. “You’ll be able to walk into Wal-Mart, go shopping, go on the app while you’re in line, and buy a gift card right there on your phone,” said Bohm. “When you get to the checkout, you just show them the barcode.”

https://www.cardcash.com/buy-gift-cards/

WOW great news for us, bitcoin users.
I'm just sorry that I don't live in America and can't spend my bitcoin at Walmart Smiley
I visited USA several times and know how big and important is Walmart.
I often went there to shop.
It seems that bitcoin is near to become mainstream and this will also help that the value of Bitcoin stabilize and grow in the near future.
9912  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Taliban admit covering up death of leader Mullah Omar for two years on: September 01, 2015, 01:50:19 PM
This news does not surprise me at all.
The Taliban are a large and diverse group and only Mullah Omar, with his authority, could keep them together.
Now, from multiple sources is reported that there has been a split in their ranks and the struggle for power.
The Taliban will probably fall apart in several fractions, and lose its former significance and impact.
Unfortunately, they will still have the capacity for terrorist attacks and to destabilize Afghanistan.

9913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you feel ashamed for recommending Bitcoin to family & friends? on: September 01, 2015, 01:39:02 PM
I started buying bitcoins back in summer of 2013. I was so excited by this new technology and when the price shot up in November, my excitement became contagious. My brother bought a bitcoin for $1000 from me, my mother asked me to buy her one too also at $1000, my niece bought a tenth for $100, my boss bought a few from coinbase, a co-worker bought a few dozen or so until the price dropped to $800. He died about a year later and his family threw away his computer. So those were all lost.

I continued buying in 2014 and then spent a bunch early this year to take care of some things. Anyway, I went over my buys & sales, and discovered that my remaining couple dozen bitcoins cost me around $500 each, despite my use of cost averaging. And I know I did much better than all the people that I know who started buying later than me.

Now I am ashamed to even mention Bitcoin. Everyone I know has lost money and a lot of it. If they ask me about it, I refuse to talk about Bitcoin.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the concept. I am sure the technology will take off in a decade or two. I even use it to send money overseas (using bitpesa) and to fill phones (using bitrefill) all the time.

Anyway, just curious to hear how you all deal with the bitcoin shame from friends & family.

I'm sorry because of your very bad experience with bitcoin.
It's not easy when you are so inspired with something and recommend it to your family and friends and later you feel ashamed
due to poor performance and loss.
I had such experience a few times in my life and now it's really difficult for me to recommend anything to my relatives and friends because they don't trust me anymore.
All of these things on the Internet, no matter how good looking, are always risky and we should be very careful before investing any money.
I learned that the hard way.
The best solution is to never include your friends in such risky things and always try alone.
In such way, only you can lose money and friendships are preserved Smiley

9914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin makes revolution on money transfer market ? on: August 31, 2015, 11:24:50 AM
-snip-
that it`s a nice article man  Cool
Thanks Smiley

I will share my personal experience.
When I tried to send money to my friend in Nepal, it proved to be a very difficult and complicated task.
He is not near the bank or post office so I couldn't choose Western Union.
He also can't open paypal and have Visa cards for India and Nepal only, not international (and he can't get international VISA card).
They even don't have often electricity and internet during day so on the end I suggested him to open bitcoin wallet.
In this way he could finally receive money.
So, from my experience, yes, bitcoin really makes revolution on money transfer market Smiley

There is no better example other than a personal experience, since its really happened and not just a theory. Fortunately your friend still could opened his bitcoin wallet although they dont have often electricity and internet. Its great you have recommended bitcoin in Nepal Smiley

Thank you!
I'm doing my best Smiley
When I speaking only theoretically with my friends about BTC it seems they can't understand or accept it, they are usually very skeptic.
But, when I show them practical way how to use bitcoin in their everyday life, they become very interesting, like my friend in Nepal now. Smiley
Transfer market is ideal to show all the advantages of Bitcoin.

9915  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS upgraded to bitcoin , a guy caught supporting them with Bitcoins on: August 31, 2015, 10:06:53 AM
This is old news, man, the update is that he was sentenced but he was caught and convicted last year sometime.

To me, this isn't even news. Using bitcoin is no different than using Dollars or Euros (cash) and if he used his computer to send payment then it would be easy to link the payment to him. Bitcoin is anonymous only at the address/blockchain level. All sorts of additional information can link an address to a person, which falls outside the scope of he bitcoin ecosystem.

Yes, exactly!
People can send money anonymously also in other ways, even with the fraudulent bank accounts and stolen credit cards.
We can't ban something because it can be used for criminal activity.
It is absurd to think that way.
How to take advantage of something, for good or bad, depends on the motivation of users.
Anything, even BTC, can be misused and therefore police forces of each country must be prepared to find such users and stop them.
I'm afraid that such situation can be used as negative propaganda against the use of Bitcoin and create negative public image.
9916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use cases. What do you actually use Bitcoin for? on: August 31, 2015, 09:39:18 AM
In my country, bitcoin is not yet widespread and popular as in other countries.
There are very few places where we can spend a bitcoin, online or offline.
We just got our first bitcoin ATM.
So, only choice we have right now is either keep our bitcoin funds for later or invest.
I invested some of my BTC in different Internet businesses and some of my BTC funds I still keep in my wallet.
9917  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate? on: August 27, 2015, 12:35:53 PM
Hate is just one more feeling or emotion we have, natural as love or fear.
I think that hatred can be both positive and negative depending on the situation.
If I'm in the war and hate the enemy such feeling can help me to be a better soldier.
Such a feeling can help the police officer to be successful in the fight against crime.
Didn't Jesus say that we should hate the sin and forgive the sinner?
Of course, if you hate all the people around you, your job or family members, such a feeling can destroy your life.

9918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Should you stay or should you go? on: August 27, 2015, 12:26:47 PM
I choose to stay Smiley
Although Bitcoin has problems now, volatility, XT etc, I still believe that Bitcoin has a future.
I had great experience with bitcoin until now, met many great people, earned some money, learned something and really don't want to loose it.
The only thing I regret is that I was initially skeptical and didn't join right away.
9919  Other / Off-topic / Re: if you entered your wallet and you found 50BTC what you will do ? on: August 26, 2015, 01:24:20 PM
you found 50BTC transacted from someone that you dont know what you will do ?
for me i will refund it
and type a note :
dude, your money is not a toy...
tips are welcomed Smiley
--------------------------------------------
what you will do ?
and if you asked him for a tip do you think he will accept ?
or will send some of it only ?

Return all the money would be the most honest and fairest thing to do.
Perhaps someone thinks that it would be stupid to do something like this but I could not spend money that is not mine.
I would not ask for a tip but will accept any expression of gratitude.
From my life experience I learned that people who help and support others have more happiness and blessings in their own lives.
9920  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea Gets Ready For War on: August 26, 2015, 07:50:36 AM
I think there is no danger that this incident turn into new war.
What happened is a common situation that is repeated every year at this time.
Kim must show strength and power, and prove to his citizens that he is still strong and unyielding and has everything under control.
Such situations are excellent for mobilization of hungry and desperate people in N. Korea.
This situation is an artificially caused for the purpose of Kim and his regime, and certainly will not escalate into a new war.

Agreed. There's been "acts of aggression" in the Sea of Japan before, no?

Kim must show strength but does anyone here believe Kim could follow through with war threats or endure a war for very long? I feel like their war machine is very, very light on men, intelligence, and ability to fight for sustained periods of time.

Yes, exactly.
As I predicted earlier in this debate, everything calmed down quickly without major consequences.
Kim showed to his people that he is strong and decisive leader, and South Korean authorities showed to their public that they are also strong and that they know how to protect their national interests but everybody were cautious and careful not to cross the border and cause open conflict.
All this is already seen many times and it's just a show for the public in both countries.
