1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Wish I never bought altcoins on: June 27, 2018, 12:02:24 PM
A majority of my profits with cryptocurrency came from altcoins, but I also lost money too buying the wrong time - I remember buying Stratis and Rads, for example, and never seeing a profit.
Altcoins is far more risky and dangerous than bitcoin, which the "buy & hodl" works well. Altcoins you might  hodl a worthless coin forever.

I bought some BCH when the price is below 0.1 BTC, still some small profits. I might hold it for the long term.

We can not say that all of the altcoins are suck. Yes, many of the altcoins had really bad times in the near past, but I think there are good altcoins which are giving trust like ethereum.

If you bought Bitcoin Cash three weeks ago at 0.05 BTC, you are making some profit.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Segwit2x vs 1 MB on: October 05, 2017, 04:17:43 PM
What will you do if 80-90% of miners start mining > 1MB blocks ?
Will you ignore this chain and will be waiting 1-2 hours for 1 confirmation on original chain ?

If somebody makes bitcoin transaction then it apears on Segwit2x chain (bigger block, faster confirmation).
I think it takes hours(or days) to confirm on original chain.

Do I miss something ? (It will be not the same as with Bitcoin cash)

I plan not to use Bitcoin over the fork period. It costs me nothing to wait,  so I will wait and wait some more,  until the 2x attack runs out of money.
I believe the users don't want 2x, so few people will be buying 2x, the price will drop, and it won't be able to support the large amount of miners (80-90%) that ideologically want to mine it. So, to pay their electricity bills and realise the investment in hardware, a percentage will switch back to BTC.
The miners may have deep pockets, but they can't continue indefinitely. No doubt this will all drag on for a while, but like I said, I can wait, and they can't.

Yes, it is good strategy.

>so few people will be buying 2x,

Nobody will be buying 2x, they will be buying BTC and those transactions will be replaying on 2x

Does it mean if you buy 1 bitcoin, you will get 1 2x coin for free?

Except that after the fork both chains will likely tank in price to the point it would be cheaper to buy BTC+BCC after rather than BTC before

nah. no one other than that small group is interested in it. it might grow but the fact that coinbase has already rejected it and no major exchange has said they'll list it is enough for it to be a non event.

and haven't you noticed hardly anyone is talking about it? it ain't a market moving event.

I saw in the reddit/btc, there are lots of talk about it. In the r/bitcoin, there is no talk.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to mine with older cards ETH on: May 13, 2017, 09:02:28 AM
Go out and buy a real GPU. Buy a Radeon 7950 for like $50 off Craigslist. Those GPUs you are trying to mine with are a complete joke. Your CPU can probably make more money than those GPUs.

but the 7950 is too old is not good anymore for ETH, the size of GB required is too high for the tiny 3gb that the 7950 offers, better for him to buy a recent 470 with 4gb which is still very cheap at $150, or take it second hand at $100

7950 is good for ZEC mining.
