1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DNT] District0x - 🔵 Namebazaar.io LIVE! on: December 31, 2018, 01:14:55 AM
This recent article which covers District0x by any possible aspect to let know how it was created and use cases plus potential in future is something everyone must read. As holder of DNT I was used to follow the updates but this kind of effort to recall and remind the community is great step. Sometimes we really need of these kind material as it has its own impact.

I bought into DNT early on, and have held it for about a year, through all the ups and downs. I really liked... pretty much everything about it. I think that decentralization is the future. However, I've been looking for someone like you to ask: In your opinion, is the project actually moving forward? I noticed that their subreddit is pretty much dead. The devs still post plenty of updates, but people just aren't talking about it anymore. And I'm just trying to figure out if that is because the market is down these days, or if its because people have sensed that this project is... shall we say faltering somewhat. Is that happening? Or are they going full steam ahead, harder than they ever have?

I'd also heard that there were only 3 devs, but I heard this a long time ago. So maybe it was never true, or it was at one point but now they've hired more. To me, there does seem to be a bit of stagnation. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd have said that there would be at least 1 more district up and running by now. Maybe 2. What are your thoughts on all of this?

How about some form of an update to this conversation. I find it somewhat difficult to quantify DNT. Seems like an excellent idea, but somewhat lagging in development. I guess that is pretty much the story of most cryptos.
3  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Easier way to see the overlap of crypto projects? on: May 15, 2018, 11:19:25 PM
I'll go ahead and bump this thread. Seems like a long shot, but you never know. I hope its not just reading white paper after white paper.
4  Economy / Marketplace / Easier way to see the overlap of crypto projects? on: May 08, 2018, 09:09:06 PM
Is there a resource for looking at project overlap for cryptos? Maybe its just me but a great many of these cryptos seem to be just doing the same thing. I know there is really only going to be so many variations before they start to be the same, but I think it would help me from an investment standpoint to be able to say something like "Ok coin x has 90% of the same goals as coin y." In some cases its starting to seem like 100%.

If you could easily tell which projects were the same, then you could make better decisions on which ones you wanted to invest in. So maybe you guys know of a site that gives a comprehensive comparison of the various cryptos? Not necessarily in terms of investing, but rather sort of telling you what sets them apart, if anything. I've been doing a lot of research lately and I'm tellin ya, they're all starting to sound like clones of each other.

Not a whole lot of people talk about how similar a new project is to existing ones. Seems like all the youtubers and such are glad to talk about some newer coin, but they don't ever really say that its the same as this other one that is 2 years older. So it would be really cool if there was a site somewhere that said "Look, this coin is just like this coin" or "There is little difference between project x, and project y, as you can clearly see".
5  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tell me a way money can buy you happiness on: May 08, 2018, 12:48:01 PM
Money can buy all kinds of happiness. The list goes on and on.

The problem is though, there are certain kinds, that it can not. And if you don't have those that money can't buy, you ain't gonna be feeling so hot. You're going to be feeling real bad, in fact. So make sure that you get those ones that money cannot buy.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] MediBloc - Health on the Blockchain! Healthcare Experience Reinvented on: May 05, 2018, 08:19:31 PM
So how do you guys guarantee that unauthorized users won't be able to access the database? And by unauthorized users, I mean even unauthorized doctors.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SAFEX] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: May 05, 2018, 03:21:40 PM
I'd reeeeally like to see this thing get on about 6 more exchanges.
8  Economy / Trading Discussion / What exactly am I seeing here? (general youtube guru question on strategy) on: March 05, 2018, 11:13:56 AM
In an effort to absorb all the knowledge I possibly can about crypto, I've just been setting youtube to autoplay and listening to basically all of the videos from popular crypto gurus. I know there is some general distaste in the community regarding these people, and I know why. But the fact is that they have knowledge that I don't, so I just sort of pick through for the bits of gold, those hard facts that I just didn't know.

So the last 2 that I was listening to, were Vincent Briatore and Suppoman. I don't like, or dislike either of them. Again, just trying to learn a thing or two. I'll be moving on after I'm done listening to all their videos. That said, both of them seem to have gone against their own teachings, on 2 coins. District0x for Suppoman, and Safex for Briatore. They both say to hold the line, to just hold for years if you have to. But both of them jumped ship on those two coins. Suppoman said District0x just wasn't performing the way he wanted it to. He missed a big spike (so did I) when it first came out, so we were both left holding a coin that had lost a whole lot of value for 3 months.

Next big spike, he sold it. Well that's not really hodl'ing, is it? That is not really what he preaches day in and day out. And I'm wondering what I'm missing. Could it be that for him, district0x was just a short term thing? I really do feel like I'm missing something here. Wouldn't he not be concerned about drastic dips (like what happened first) or huge spikes (like what happened 3 months later)? Doesn't that go against the "HODL" that they all preach? Same thing for safex and the other guy. It got delisted, and the safex people were something like a week late on the wallet. So Briatore jumps ship. Again, that sounds nothing like hodl. Safex appears to still be chugging along, in slow software development mode. As is the case with software development, its slow. Not fast.

So its it just like, 1 bad thing happens and they lose all faith? That is the opposite of hodl. Cause we're not talking about something catastrophic happening. We're talking about some minor things that were kind of unfortunate. Not the teams being totally outed as scammers or something, like what happens with so many others. And then the coin disappears in infamy. No that is not at all what happened here. Its just a couple of unfortunate circumstances, with both coins still just moving slowly towards their end goals. At this point, with safex and District0x, we really have seen any indication that they will stop short of achieving their long term goals. It looks to me like its just taking longer than the gurus wanted. So what did I miss? Could it be that they never intended to hodl these coins? Could it be that they were always just waiting to make 5x or 8x? Maybe they simply failed to fully articulate their plan. But they did preach hodl to everyone else.
9  Economy / Marketplace / Re: For those in the U.S. Telegram... how do YOU use it? on: February 11, 2018, 10:56:38 PM
It doesn't look like you are getting any response and I honestly wasn't planning on responding myself, but I wanted to at least give you the very minimal amount of info I can offer on the subject. I would not take my word as gospel, I have been wrong many times in the past, but you asked so here is my opinion. I have never used telegram, but I know a few people that use it legitimately for trading; the only legitimate trading "channel" I have heard of is run by one of my personal friends and they charge a monthly premium for being a part of their service. He has just begun running a telegram channel, and before that he ran a Skype room, live conferences and things like that for trading signals and strategies.

Right now, this friend is doing signals for bitcoin in telegram, however there is no SELL signals, only BUY signals (which might be the right idea for Bitcoin). Other than my friend, though, I have seen mostly scams, false-advertising and money-grabs taking place. So, the short answer is no I don't use it, yes there are certain rooms that are legitimate, but no you most likely will not find them; you will most likely end up either getting phished, scammed or disappointed by a misleading "expert". Even my friend makes mistakes and has bad days, he's been running his service for years and there is always new customers if that tells you anything. Most people, even when following successful traders are not successful themselves, so even if you do find the right room you still might come out at a loss.

Thank you for the reply. After your reply, I can see that I should revise my question.

What I'm looking for, is a better way to find out about ICO exchange dates. That is, I'm looking for some kind of way to find out when an ICO finally goes on the exchange. How do people generally do this? Just monitor the ICO's twitter page? There must be some kind of way to know, even if you do have to find out on the same day. There are a few ICOs I'm interested in, but I just can't invest unless I find out how people are learning when it goes on the exchange.
10  Economy / Marketplace / For those in the U.S. Telegram... how do YOU use it? on: February 09, 2018, 03:43:11 PM
I'd like to ask you about Telegram, and how you use it for your trading. Anyone here use it? If so, what have been your experiences with it? How do you use it? Which "channels" do you monitor? I ask because I'm in the U.S, and its very difficult for me to be able to invest in an ICO. But, I can still participate in some way, buy finding out exactly when an ICO goes on the exchange. So I'd just like to hear about you guys' experiences with that kind of thing. Thanks!
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking out initial investment as a means to reinvest? on: February 02, 2018, 08:31:35 AM
there are lots of different strategies when it comes to investment and managing your money. it is not really easy to say if one strategy is good and the other bad. not generally anyways. sometimes this strategy you described is a good one for certain coins under certain circumstances but not good always.

I usually use this strategy if I want to get the money out for good. meaning if I see the risks of investing in some coin is high so I cash out the initial investment and keep the profit and then continue working with that. and never invest that initial amount ($100 in this case) back in it. and it is a viable strategy!

but in some cases for example when investing in bitcoin I invest the profit back in. in other words I keep the profit in bitcoin not in fiat. for example I buy 0.01BTC price goes up and I expect a correction, I sell and buy back in the dip with the money I got and receive 0.013BTC

Yeah I could see where some coins, it would be a bad idea. But when you say:

And never invest that initial amount ($100 in this case) back in it.

Do you mean that you never invest what you made, back in? That $100 that you skimmed off the top, never goes back in? But what if its a solid coin? That you know is just going to go right back up, after the market recovers from the crash?
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Taking out initial investment as a means to reinvest? on: February 02, 2018, 07:42:05 AM
I'd like to lay out some thoughts and hopefully you guys can help me sort through them. I'm still a beginner but I'm trying to learn from my past mistakes. And I've noticed that many people (if not most people) will sell half of a given coin, once their initial investment is covered. So basically, when they've doubled their money.

A hypothetical example to help me understand: If you bought $100 worth of coin X at 50 sats, you would then sell half of the coins, once it reached 100 sats. Because your initial investment would be covered. And you're still invested $100 into the coin, you just have half the amount of coins now. But you've got $100 extra to play with. Likely in bitcoin, which is what you traded half of coin X for once it doubled in price.

But, you are interested in long term investing in this coin. You like coin X, think its a good project, and have done your research and decided that you want to be a long term investor in coin X. And you want to acquire as much of coin X as you possibly can. That way 5 years from now when its time to sell, of course you make a lot more money because you have a lot more coins to sell.

So is selling off half, to cover your initial investment, a viable strategy when it comes to long term investing? You could just wait until you saw coin X plummet back down to 25 sats, or 35 sats, or whatever, and take your $100 and buy more of coin X. In this way, you actually end up with more of coin X, than if you had never sold at all. Is doing this a good idea? Or is it too risky? Because perhaps coin X never goes back down to 25 sats. That has been my fear, and why I have yet to be able to convince myself to do this. What are your thoughts and opinions on this? As a strategy for acquiring more of a coin you want to hold for the long term.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How long do sell orders last? on: January 29, 2018, 09:46:07 AM
I'd like to bump for my last question. Sorry, just a newb trying to hammer out the details 100%
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How long do sell orders last? on: January 27, 2018, 09:16:37 AM
Thanks to all for the replies. They are much appreciated.

So basically, "setting your stops" is just putting in a sell order, for a price that you hope to sell for. So for example, coin X is at 400 sats. I have decided that I want to sell coin X when it finally goes up to 600 sats. All I need to do is create that sell order, and sit back and wait?
15  Other / Beginners & Help / How long do sell orders last? on: January 27, 2018, 04:27:56 AM
Newb question time. How long do sell orders last? Do they ever expire? Same question for buy orders. This is just a general question across all exchanges.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto on Linux? on: January 22, 2018, 08:37:18 PM
Thanks for the help. Yeah its too bad linux hasn't developed something along the lines of the APK, where everything can just be a package. I've had some real issues in the past trying to install things that were not in the built in "app store" in linux. Eventually I just gave up and went back to windows when I couldn't get what I needed to work. I think it would do them a lot of good to have some kind of universal thing that worked on all distros, like apk does for android. Tarballs and all that... I just wasn't feelin' it.

But if it will just be a mining rig, I think I can deal with it since I'll just be setting it up and letting it run, not using it for everyday stuff.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto on Linux? on: January 22, 2018, 01:44:53 AM
Is it like android where you can just get an apk installer program, and download apk's for linux? Or is that an android specific thing? I've had a few linux OS's in the past, but I only ever used the snyaptic package manager or whatever was built in.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Crypto on Linux? on: January 21, 2018, 11:02:31 PM
Hi all. I was wondering what the pitfalls are of doing a linux crypto rig. For mining, but also maybe for having various wallets on the computer. Is it a pain, or generally pretty easy? Do most altcoins make a linux wallet, as well as a windows and mac wallet? Or are linux wallets kind of scarce? And what about mining? Is the software all there, or is that mainly windows/mac as well? Just looking to get a general idea.

Mine has been about 5 months. I've started 3 tickets in that time. They seem to just ignore me. Wasn't there some talk about them expanding their help capabilities? Maybe hiring a bunch of new people to handle this stuff?

Somebody? Anybody? Is there some method to get another confirmation email sent to you?
