Lombrozo should follow through and ignore Wu's lies, I have no idea how he could accomplish it though.
Lomborzo could even 'kickstart/donate' to get funding and have enough within the hour.
Everyone is tired of Bitmain.

Jeebus, that's infantile.

Instead of pooling money to tear down Bitman, why don't you pool your money to outcompete them? Add to Bitcoin's security, rather than destroy it.

So you want to create another big centralized player? Who's infantile now...
You do realize Bitmain is making the miners/chips? Maybe stop using those chips is the only way to decentralize.
Maybe switching over to mass produced cpu's is the answer...

Don't know if this the reason for Jihan's statement. Furthermore I don't trust him in any way and wouldn't be surprise of he continues his shenanigans within the next couple of hours. You can't trust Chinese! In any industry I ever met and worked with them it always was the same. Period!

the threat is to change the proof-of-work algorithm for bitcoin from sha256 to another, which would require a hard fork.
it has support in the highest of realms: http://trilema.com/2016/the-necessary-prerequisite-for-any-change-to-the-bitcoin-protocol/

True, people have been talking about a PoW change. It would probably be the best thing to happen and the quicker, the better.
Most importantly how do you create a PoW that is practically unable to centralize?
Going to cpu mining with a variable PoW every few blocks, so asics are out of the picture?
And how do you transition, the change in PoW makes 'difficulty-adjustment' useless.
So are we going to get a few lucky hours/minutes where blocks are 'instamined', or the opposite, one week/month of a slow network. (With lightning functional, this might not be a huge problem).

The altcoin mining market is growing:

If only intel/amd/nvidia start making asic miners...finally some competition.

Tonight might be more of a historic moment then we all realize.

O.k.  I will bite.  How, newbie (possible troll)?   Tongue

Since the inception of bitcoin, whenever people asked, "So, how many transactions does bitcoin do per second?".
We all had to answer a number that was embarrassingly low, theoretically 7, but more like 3-4 TPS.

With segwit enabled, bitcoin is finally - ready for the world -.
As much of a cliche that may sound, we went from 7 TPS to potentially unlimited TPS, all safe and sound.
This means it's really no 'joke' anymore. That's what I mean by historic, the activating of segwit might be known as THE enabler for bitcoin.
Or like some other people call it, the netscape navigator moment for bitcoin.

On the horizon is rootstock, smart contracts linked to the bitcoin chain. What is ETH going to do?

Oh and no newbie, been here since 2013. Forgot my password and recovery didn't work.

How will 2x fail when it has 90% ecosystem support?

On the contrary. B2X has 90% ecosystem rejection.
The same situation we already had with Bitcoin Classic, Bitcoin XT, Bitcoin Unlimited, now with Bitcoin Cash, and same will be with Bitcoin 2X. Same people stand behind all of those! Some of them even sold out their bitcoins at $450 claiming that Bitcoin is broken and has no future...

What? Stop spreading misinformation. The economic majority behind Bitcoin have agreed on the 2x blocksize increase. They are the vested interests who have the greatest say as to the future direction of Bitcoin. This has already been agreed upon.

We will be getting a block-size upgrade for BTC and Segwit1x can chose to maintain a non-contentious minority chain if they so chose.

Economic majority? Please define this.
Greatest say in the future direction of bitcoin? Bitcoin isn't a democracy.

I hope you have your eggs in both baskets because this will be a harsh lesson to learn for many.
You are about to trust a small group of individuals who already have a very very bad track record.
And once you give trust away, you'll never get it back.

Talking of which...

Does anyone here use any of the Bitcoin debitcards that you can load with BTC and spend your BTC anywhere?

I want to get me one and any recommendations/warning etc would be appreciated.

The more private the better

I'm curious about this too. Was considering BitPay card until that whole btc1 debacle.

Maybe wirex? Ordered some physical visa cards from them recently, but haven't received them yet. They have a 2k limit unverified IIRC.

80k transactions in the mempool. Let's see if that number goes to 200k.

And that's why one shouldn't be worried about coming forks.
A couple of companies trying to hijack bitcoin? Please...
Trust is the name of the game.
