Apologies for the downtime.

One of the servers ran into low memory issues. Seems everything is happening today at once. I'll be working to improve stability during the next few days.

Hey DrHaribo,

I've been testing around with several mining pools over the past 3 weeks and have now decided to stay with bitminter permanently.

The few main factors that gave me my decisions are:
1. You are always around to answer questions. From the site itself, it's obvious how dedicated you are to this pool.
2. Your statistic page is beyond amazing. Amazing.
3. Merged NMC mining.

You are doing a great job and I think I should at least made it known to you that someone here is appreciating all your work.

PS: I can't seem to stay permanently logged on the site. Is it an intended feature? Since google login bugs out sometimes and I have to try multiple times to get myself logged.

Hey would it be possible once AISC's take over BTC mining that Mitminter could release a LTC version of the mining client?
I find all the scrypt mining really unweildly and I don't trust the proxy that alot require.

yeah   I could really use this as i am still stuck will all gpu farm around 8GH/s

I have no idea when I will get my bfl gear.

Asic miners usb sticks are more expensive then adding hd7790 gpu's.  So down the road LTC is going to be a must for me.

Having an LTC miner  like bitminter does for btc coin would be really nice.  I would think you could do very well with it.

I've tried every LTC software out there and none works on my setup. It's definitely some driver issues but I'm unwilling to do a format. Let's hope Bitminter will release something for LTC in the near future.

Hi all

I have added a couple of new features.
First ... the previous refresh worker data is now shown in brackets after the current data ... this is useful for checking back on and also ensuring that you are submitting shares on each worker.

Secondly I have also totaled the worker data in a row at the bottom.

I have now put the download in a zip.

Version 1.0.0.1 is here:

http://fileshosting.co.uk/files/mineminder.zip

Cheers

Thanks for the quick update. Will be great if you can add my share contribution for each ended round as part of the table at the bottom.

Hiya

I have made the very first version of MineMinder available here:

http://fileshosting.co.uk/files/MineMinder_1.0.0.0.exe.7z

Not sure if I need Slush's permission to call the API but I have limited the refresh to 10 seconds minimum for now.

It's very simple, it just looks up my wallet address on loading (for ahem donations but nothing mandatory:)), then you can put your APIToken in the top and click refresh or enable the timer to refresh for you.

It requires the DotNET 2.0 framework.

Any problems and I'll try and monitor here for now.

If it's worth it (and if anyone wants it) more features to come.
Cheers

Hmm, the 7z is corrupted.

As a pool operator, I would recommend making the auto refresh interval measured in minutes, with 1 being the minimum.  Most people will run this in the background and rarely look at it, so having constantly up to date information is just adding load to the web server+database without much benefit.  It's one of the reason most pools removed/never added live refreshes on their websites:  Most people will just leave a tab open and forget about it.

Would be nice if slush added a anti-refresh measures. And maybe some other api for "vip" clients, if they so want. If you want to constantly spam refresh - consider a little donation.

Or even funnier method - your current round reward diminishes with every refresh by 0.005%

Perks activation like the way Bitminter is doing it should suffice.

Here's what Bitminter is doing.

1.5% donation to activate instant payout.
0.5% donation to activate API.

That's fast. Thanks!

It doesn't show my share for each block found? I'm used to comparing my number of shares to my BTC rewards. Just a habit.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'll try and finalize a version for release tomorrow that you all can use.
Then if there's sufficient interest, I'll try and put some bells and whistles into it, one other idea I've had is the ability to log each call so that you can immediately reload your account and see how it was at a point in time Smiley

Cheers

Remember to include a donation address! Wink

This is a windows app that I recently wrote to get my stats/account info in one place.
It was just for me and a mate but thought I would tidy it up a bit and post to see if it is maybe a stupid idea or not.
It has configurable Auto Refresh and shows current duration when minimized so you don't need it maximized to check for block discovery.
If there was interest/demand I would consider a mobile version too with maybe email alert for things like block discovery, threshold alerts, reward checks, worker offline etc.

I love it! You should release it.

Hi slushers

I have created a page with a couple of visualisations of the data from Slush's API, have a look if you're interested:
http://nicja.alwaysdata.net

Currently it just shows the progression of round duration, network shares per second, miner reward per block and average miner reward per hour per block over time.

You'll need to input your Slush API Token which you can find at https://mining.bitcoin.cz/accounts/token-manage/ This gets stored in a cookie which expires with your session, or you can clear it at any time.

Feel free to send any suggestions, although the possibilities are limited by the data coming from the API (only the last 30 blocks, no miner shares per round, etc.)

Cheers
nicja

Nice. Bookmarked.

On the good side - this is going to be a pretty large block, so that gave me enough time for my score to restore to normal (in about an hour).

That's the thing, Slush's hop-resistant algorithm only really works well on short rounds. On occasion when we've had <5 minute rounds I can make a killing but there is nearly no difference in reward between a 2-hour round and a (soon-to-be) 6-hour round. Is that a small/medium miner thing, or can bigger miners corroborate? I get about 1.8 Gh/s between me and my buddy. On a PPS pool you get what you work for but here, because the score metric resets every so often, everyone is pretty much capped for any given round. At this 10.1M difficulty the highest reward on a single round I've gotten was .00576. Everything the same, a 6-hour round should absolutely pay better than a 1-hour. More work, more uptime, higher cost of running.

You need to know how block mining works.

It doesn't matter how long it took to find a block, a block will always contain ~25BTC. It's all about luck. Slush's score system even things out over time.

If it's proportionate returns you are looking for, you're at the wrong pool. The PPS system will suit you more.

I've been waiting for 3 in a row - I'm sure it's happened before - but the first time I have seen it - coolio

I know right. I decided to give bitminter a try and one hour later, 3 blocks happened.  Cry

Switch to Phoenix 1.7.5.

It's the only miner that doesn't give me any hardware errors. I'm using the one that is bundled with 50 miner.

14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Verification failed, check hardware with every miner EXCEPT Phoenix on: May 07, 2013, 01:02:34 AM
I've been mining for a few days now and when I first started out, I couldn't submit any shares because it always returns a "Verification failed, check hardware!" warning.

I did some googling and it seems to be a common problem. I tried everything to no avail until I tried mining with Phoenix 1.7.5. Smooth as silk.

I'm not sure what's the difference between Phoenix and the other miners. Some enlightenment, anyone?

Are you mining with your CPU instead of your GPU?

A casual miner should be mining anywhere from 150 - 500mhs with a mid end GPU.

As someone living in South East Asia that has >80% humidity all year round and an average  25°c - 31°c temperature everyday, I find this thread amusing.

They are pretty useful and sets my mind at ease.

May the luck be with us.

Thanks. This is what I need to know. If disconnecting for a couple of seconds makes a difference because I restarted my uptime, I would have to go to 50BTC. But if it doesn't make that much of a difference, I'm definitely staying with Slush.

Cheers mate, been trying to get this info for a day, tried on IRC and the newbie forums but I had to get out of the newbie zone before I can get an actual answer.
Was the answer clear enough? I putted "a lot" in quotes since a lot is relative... You will get much bigger variance because of you playing games and time of shares being submitted...

I think so.

So basically the length of your uptime is not taken into consideration. It's the time of your share submission in that round counts.

Right?

I fully understood that I'm responsible for the variance caused by my disconnection. I was just wondering if the uptime length affects the score per share since I can keep my agg level at a mid range without having to disconnect.

Right now, I'm changing it to max aggression everytime I'm not using it.

I've been mining on Slush for a couple of days and I like what I'm seeing.

Despite reading about the scorebase system thoroughly, I still have some questions.

Even though I mine 24/7, I'm mining on my gaming rig. Therefore I have to adjust the aggression level all the time to get the most out of my GPUs and the only way to do that is to make a quick disconnect, change the agg lvl and reconnect immediately.

It takes about 3 seconds. From what I read, uptime is important in Slush's pool. What I'm wondering is, does this rapid dc/rc affect my score? Or should I just keep my aggression level midrange so I can keep my uptime as long as possible but at the same time, losing some hashrates.

I'm currently choosing between Slush and 50BTC. I'm leaning towards Slush but I'm not sure if PPS is a better way for me.

Mining at 300MH/s
3 seconds doesn't make much of a difference even with Slush. And it is number game. Sometime you will loss "a lot" but most of a time you will get a little bit more. And compeering PPS and Slush method is hard since you get a constant payment with PPS and big differences depending on luck with Slush. Best way to go around is to look at luck at the end of a day and then on a graph with the daily reword(be sure to use server time). Then use this calculation day reword/day luck*100. You should get a number that is close to 100% luck so you can look at 50BTC and Slush pool.

Thanks. This is what I need to know. If disconnecting for a couple of seconds makes a difference because I restarted my uptime, I would have to go to 50BTC. But if it doesn't make that much of a difference, I'm definitely staying with Slush.

I don't think that your short disconnect will affect your results. I'm pretty sure how often results are sent back is what is being tracked, not the actual time your miner is running. But, i could be wrong. I'm no expert.

Yea, this is the part where I was confused. From my understanding, score are based on the time it's submitted during a round. Disconnecting shouldn't affect much since I'll miss maybe a share or two and when I'm back, I'm suppose to get the same score per share.

But from Slush's explanation here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.msg50002#msg50002

He made it sound like disconnection even for awhile is bad.
