1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: New release: Electrum-4.0.9 on: January 03, 2021, 09:03:19 PM
just a question regarding updating electrum and I'm still not entirely familiar with electrum. do I have to uninstall my electrum every time there is an update or there a way to update it without deleting electrum from my computer? I tried updating it using the link provided inside the wallet but while updating an error occurred and told me to either abort, retry or ignore. after clicking abort my electrum won't open so I decided to just uninstall it then installing the latest version. again, is there a better way of updating electrum other than uninstalling and stalling it again? TIA!

I would not recommend updating from the app itself as there was a malware version pushed (it is noted on electrum.org as well).
Always download from electrum then verify signature and then update it from verified version.

Quote
Warning: Electrum versions older than 3.3.4 are susceptible to phishing. Do not download Electrum from another source than electrum.org, and learn to verify GPG signatures.

Edit: Please make sure to Always backup wallet/keys.

Hi, when creating new wallet under Choose Seed type

Default option is Segwit but text suggests to pick Legacy.

Which one to pick? and any complications with picking one over the other?

You should always pick Segwit unless you have to receive bitcoins from somebody whose using an exchange that does not support sending to Segwit addresses. Sewgit addresses are the newer address type which have lower transaction fees and by using them, you help push their adoption more.
Thank you will do

Semux v2.0 will hit mainnet end of this month. This release will feature smart contacts engine

https://github.com/semuxproject/semux-core/releases/tag/v2.0.0-rc.2

Big big achievement and huge congrats to the team!

That is good to hear, and has anyone out there tried to use Semux smart contract in testnet before? Any progress or update with the wallet?
because the last time I used it, it took more than 1 GB to complete the sync. It is a lot.

I am seeing zero balance after restoring wallet. Anyway to scan all the addresses to restore balance?
https://semux.info/explorer

how about search all of your addresses on there? there is no other way to find out other than synching it or searching it on blockexplorer.

I sync and then imported the wallet. I see balance on explorer but wanted to vote.

Is there any way to get list of all private keys from that imported wallet with public keys?

If I could scan all keys or get them exported then i should be able to restore balance.

The mainnet launched already or just testnet?

Yes, mainnet has been launched one year ago in January 2018.
Currently we're testing new release with VM and dapps in test network.

Hard fork was expected in q4 2018 and right now there is only 10 days left.

Q1 2019, we will have another testnet release with the bugfixes:
https://github.com/semuxproject/semux-core/pull/112

After hard fork, we have to vote again for delegates? I guess the answer is yes.

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask but I wonder if Monero will get listed on any of US based exchanges?

kraken

edit: is listed and has been for ages

Also bittrex and poloniex. Bittrex has fiat but doesn't have a direct xmr fiat pair
why are you interested in listing on us based exchanges? there are many other good exchanges.

Maybe he is located in USA and is buying XMR for USD in USA located exchange most convenient?   Everyone will chose exchanges that most fit their needs. There is no perfect exchange that is best for everyone.

You nailed it sir. that is why. i guess you an buy USDC and move it to other exchanges that support it to buy XMR. This has open the way in so many ways but since funds can be frozen i am not sure if many exchanges will want to support USDC (coinbase dollar).

We badly need new exchanges if contracts get release soon. We will need exchanges for price discovery and stabilization.

Even if it gets listed on Binance today, it won't change the fact that we are in bear market. It is totally impossible for us to tank this trend, the price will recover as soon as the trend changes and peoples reclaim back what they had lost(their faith). Currently a lot of peoples are watching from the sidelines, waiting for an opportunity to get in.
Be calm, everything will be alright as long as the team keeps delivering what they're promising for. It's all about time, no need to rush it

Thanks for kind response. I don't expect us get listed on Binance. My concern was that being on small exchanges come with risk. Less exchanges = higher risk. more exchanges = less risk. I am patient and with semux from the beginning.

Does anyone know why there is no movement on the price of the XMR despite the Monero network upgrade (Cryptonight V8) ?  Undecided
It's still good news for the miners and for Monero

Yea i was thinking same thing with bullet proofs. May be market has become unresponsive or immune to this type of news for short term.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Are You Tracking Your Crypto Investments? on: October 13, 2018, 03:35:38 PM
You can use google spreadsheets to update portfolio automatically from CMC. There was a formula that looks up price based on token ticker. You have to do some digging. I will update this post if I find the material.

People felt same after 2013 crash. Things will move. BTC will reach new highs. You can check bitcoin halving and compare it with previous years to get an idea on trend.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]🌐[TITA PROJECT]🌐 The TITA Project is creating a decentralized network on: September 29, 2018, 11:58:30 AM
something like this would be good. But how reliable is it? For example if Ether is slow due to transactions processed by ether then all projects running on ether would be slow too.

I will monitor this project only for now.

Edited to correct second statement
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH, road down to $50? on: September 22, 2018, 07:02:18 PM
lol $50 seems like a joke right now and I don't think it will reach that price point.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am not fan of KYC on: September 22, 2018, 07:00:38 PM
Most of the time it is not required to collect personal information for ICO. If ICO is asking for too much personal information then don't take part in it. Especially if it is an airdrop. Your information may land in wrong hands and could be used for wrong purposes.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What keeps you here, why? on: September 15, 2018, 01:42:45 PM
I like the rewards and reputation system. You get payout based on upon your ranking.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best airdrop services? on: September 08, 2018, 02:08:22 PM
bitcointalk is one of first and reputable services. May I ask why you are looking for alternative so I can benefit from it too?
