1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: can someone tell me the benefits of campaign on: September 09, 2017, 03:57:40 PM
You can join a campaign to gain small amounts of ICO coins, for the most part. Occasionally you'll see other campaigns pop up for established coins, but those are less common. Mostly it's a means of providing advertising to a coin you believe will gain value quickly, as that's the only way to really make money from them.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WTB Antminer D3 september batch on: September 08, 2017, 01:45:21 PM
Really nervous about the difficulty spiking before one of these could actually turn over a profit.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does China have a large part in the world of cryptocurrency? on: September 07, 2017, 10:34:28 PM
Honestly they stand to dominate it unless the US starts acting like they know how to create infrastructure. Yo, securities department, get your shit together.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on low power cards on: September 07, 2017, 09:46:41 PM
So far the rig is giving me an average of .00011 btc per day, according to nicehash. It's mostly spent it's time running the lyra2rev2 algorithm at 11.5 MH/s. No clue what coin it's mining because, well, nicehash.

If I was paying for the power this would be ridiculous, for now I suppose it will be a learning rig that I'm not afraid of setting on fire.

Thanks guys!
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining on low power cards on: September 07, 2017, 07:57:27 PM
Hi,

I have a handful of 7870's and a 760TI, 2gb each, wired up to an old computer that's running Arch Linux atm. It's a bit of a shoddy setup, but I don't care about the power usage, I just want to see what I can mine with it.

Any suggestions for coin targets? Any chance of this system actually turning a respectable amount of coins out, given that I don't pay for power?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The future of GPU (video card) mining,,, In Plain English on: September 07, 2017, 07:48:52 PM
The idea of mining is sound, so I can't imagine it'll ever truly become impossible to profit. We'll just be moving to new currencies, or the next valuable distributed farm technology will come up. I find it hard to believe we won't find another use for the massive number of calculations the world can put out at the moment.

I am really not looking forward to the mark up these are going to see from resellers, but I really, really want to play with them!

Still staring at XCCOIN!

I don't feel like you can get many people invested without demonstrating actual value of the coins. I love the idea, but I'm wary of the execution.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: ArtByte, a coin with real everyday users & a purpose. on: September 07, 2017, 02:06:50 PM
I feel like this is definitely the future of art, but how it's going to be implemented will be difficult.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] launching Jetcoin - Supporting Tomorrow's Champions on: September 07, 2017, 01:50:06 PM
Hum, no new technology, no real definition of how you intend to drive profits, I'm a little disappointed.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Blockchain-Based Social Carbon Ecosystem on: September 07, 2017, 01:19:59 PM
I'd love to see this work! Maybe people can create a living off of building solar farms, even if it's a bit less efficient than industrial processes.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with dumpster GPU's? on: September 07, 2017, 01:11:55 PM
I've got an old 760TI in there, that's about it. Most were ripped out of friend's boxes as I was upgrading parts, so they're old/stock/beat up. 5 cards for free is still something, right?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WHAT WILL DASH DIFFICULTY BE NOVEMBER 2017 on: September 06, 2017, 10:19:48 PM
Huh. Guess the miners will have to find a new coin.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] 🌎 REGA Risk Sharing Platform: Reinventing Insurance on: September 06, 2017, 10:12:49 PM
I'd like to see more developments like this; reducing the profit large companies can make from human necessities is a huge potential gain for the average person.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Looq - Decentralized Virtual Reality Platform (75% BONUS ACTIVE) on: September 06, 2017, 09:29:43 PM
Speculating in two fields at once? Now that's throwing my money away efficiently!
17  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFGminer Solo Raspberry Pi 3 Setup? on: September 06, 2017, 09:22:55 PM
There just aren't any decent stick miners. The Gekko sticks come closest, but they're still never going to give you a meaningful return. Best to wait for the next set of stick miners that come out.
18  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetKing.io Relaunched! 100% deposit bonus. BTC, ETH, LTC DICE betting on: September 06, 2017, 09:11:54 PM
Are any of these sites built around p2p betting? Poker and the like? I've never liked playing against the house.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SysCoin - First day trade, pray for me on: September 06, 2017, 08:57:08 PM
Good luck!

20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How To Spot A Bitcoin Scam on: September 06, 2017, 07:26:49 PM
Same as any other scam;

If you find yourself with a potential for huge profit but the underlying scheme is opaque, you're about to be scammed.
