1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin money? on: November 14, 2017, 03:35:13 PM
I do not consider gold to be money.  You can't go and buy most goods and services with gold.  Gold is a commodity, dollars are money.

Bitcoin is a virtual currency.  It has more in common with paypal than it does with dollars or with gold.  I wouldn't really call it money until it is more widely accepted as payment for goods and services.

I agree, Bitcoin is a worldwide cryptocurrency and digital payment system called the first decentralized digital currency, as the system works without a central repository or single administrator. Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process known as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services. And considering bitcoin as money is not surprising but it is really not in that area. But what is important is that bitcoin has value that is very useful in many selected sites, industry and others.

The legal status of bitcoin varies substantially from country to country and is still undefined or changing in many of them. Whilst the majority of countries do not make the usage of bitcoin itself illegal (with the exceptions of: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, and Nepal), its status as money varies, with differing regulatory implications. While some countries have explicitly allowed its use and trade, others have banned or restricted it. Likewise, various government agencies, departments, and courts have classified bitcoins differently.
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are some disadvantages of BTC? on: November 14, 2017, 02:07:53 PM
We all know the advantages of BTC, but what are some of the disadvantages??

These are the some of the disadvantages that i think are the most criticist. Exposure to Bitcoin-Specific Scams and Fraud are very often in the bitcoin. The Black Market Activity May Damage Reputation and Usefulness of bitcoin. Daily flactuation of bitcoi price and Susceptible to High Price Volatility. No Chargebacks or Refunds when the transaction is done and there is nothing you can do about it and Potential of the bitcoin to Be Replaced by Superior Cryptocurrency is very like to happen.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is making this world a better place? on: November 14, 2017, 12:51:06 PM
They say, money make the world go round. Without money nothing will move around.

Money is key in building any human civilization and bitcoin is more than just a money, it's something bigger.

Do you think bitcoin value and speed will help change the face of our current civilization for good? Share with us what you think... thanks Smiley

Define Better Place. Truly Bitcoin helps many people, makes things faster and provide jobs to those did not find one in the outside world. I don't know how to define better world, but i think bitcoin helps in that area but we cannot deny that also there are things that bitcoin is used in not nice things, Such us scams and thief. And some people becoming greedy with bitcoin, keeping all to themselves and refusing to help others and if they help there is a certain deal or exchange of interest. So it's not the bitcoin that making the world a better place, it's those who uses it.
Share your opinion.

"MANILA, Philippines - The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has approved the registration of two companies to engage in the operation of bitcoin exchanges as part of efforts to regulate the fast growing but potentially risky virtual currency industry.
BSP Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr. said during the FinTech Thought Leadership Roundtable Series presented by FINTQ, the central bank has given the two companies the green light to operate bitcoin exchanges."

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin online payments on: November 14, 2017, 11:30:43 AM
When will the youtube and other websites start to pay us with bitcoin?

I don't think that would happen, But if it is going to happen i think it is far from this days. Bitcoin is really big and still growing bigger but this sites such as youtube uses dollar where we all know its like the international currency hold by the biggest country in the world such as the United States of the America. This is a trend that is very difficult to remove and replace. There a possibility but i think not now and definitely not soon that we must be prepared for.
7  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: BAKIT KAYA NAGIGING TALAMAK NA ANG PAGSCAM NG ACCOUNT DITO SA BITCOIN? on: November 12, 2017, 02:06:04 PM

Masmalaking Scam masmalaking parusa.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is not gambling on: November 12, 2017, 01:30:28 PM
I don't know why people say bitcoin is gambling. Its not gambling. You are investing your money and time. You use your internet. So its not gambling dealing with it.

Bitcoin is a currency.  You cant say money is gambling itself.  But if you invest your money and convert it into bitcoin,  now it is gambling.  Because you take a risk investing your money to a volatile currency hoping it would rise up in the coming days,  but you know it might also drop.  There is still win or lose in it,  so basically its still gambling.  The process is gambling,  not bitcoin itself.

That's right, Bitcoin itself is not a gambling it's a currency to be and is used. But we got to admit that almost all bitcoin related industry is a gambling from trading, investing and gambling itself and other forms of bitcoin transaction. But comparing to gambling investing and trading bitcoin is different, well it is really considered a gamble because of the risk it has but in bitcoin it has high chances of payout just need the right knowledge and experience and cyrptocurrency.
For me kasi it is an advantage dahil may chance na para makapag invest sa bitcoin habang bumababa ang presyo nito.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Countries Banning Crypto Currencies on: November 11, 2017, 05:22:40 PM
Unfortunately, many counties have banned and will be banning the use of crypto currency.

So far, these countries have banned crypto:
Vietnam
Bolivia
Ecuador
Kyrgyzstan
Bangladesh
Nepal

These countries however do not have a major influence on crypto as they are third world countries and most investors/influences come from the West/China.

Do you guys think as it becomes more of a reality that crypto is the future of currencies, more countries will ban the use due to fear of losing control? Do you think as it becomes the normal form of currency, these countries will lift the ban?

What do you think?

I think more countries will ban bitcoin and the other that already did that will not lift the ban, beacause of one word "tax". Countries or the govenment cannot tax bitcoin so banning it would be a logical or something.
Because it is unfair to some bussiness man that are paying taxes who's already rich and getting much more while other low class to middle class people suffer more dificult life. And i think cyptocurrency is really the future but modification will be made and government will put a grip on it.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who can destroy Bitcoin ? on: November 11, 2017, 01:02:17 PM
1. No one believes in bitcoin (because of something).
2. World war.
3. When the power grid/internet has been shutdown.

I think Internet shutdown is a fiction for now, i just saw it in movies and no one believing bitcoin is also something that is not possible for now, and i'm not even thinking of a world war 3. But i think the possible desdruction of bitcoin is govenment by banning bitcoin in countries and this is already true to some countries such as bangladesh, kyrgistan, and some more. And it's not impossible for other countries to do so.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still support Ethereum? on: November 11, 2017, 11:38:51 AM
I can't name any other coin/token, which failed more times than ETH. It's not about loving or hating it, it's all about people losing money, because of situations which can be avoided. I would care less if these ETH based projects were not asking money from the masses, but that's not the case. And believe me when I'm saying that Ethereum has some powerful lobbyists. Otherwise its price would be probably 1/5 from the current one.

Didn't we had enough of this?

At first, well i can't say that i hate it but it's not ethereum it was my lack of knowledge. But for a while i am loved it and still loving it. Well who wouldn't love ethereum specially if your getting something from it which is money, and who doesn't love money?. And support any ICO, we are in the same forum and each has their own part and if you won't support then don't destroy.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Ethereum Really Overtake Bitcoin? on: November 08, 2017, 08:47:20 AM
Yes, ethereum most definitely can. If they manage to scale faster and better, it might end up being the most used coin, and that would drive the price up to the point where it would become the #1 cryptocurrency in terms of market cap.

Bitcoin has the brand advantage, most of the "average joes" that have heard of it have yet to understand of even know that Ethereum exist... But it can't rely solely on this fact for the upcoming 5-10 years.

Thats right possiblility is inevitable.
Bitcoin has found its own way to grow but ethereum has been doing that too in its own way in the alternate cryptocurrencies.
But time will take to be long, as it was not the first like bitcoin. I agree with 10 years but there is also possibility that ethereum wont be able to surpass bitcoin.
Again possibilities is many but chances varies.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you first hear about bitcoin? on: November 08, 2017, 03:09:50 AM
Are you a bitcoin fan?
Do you spend a lot of time on bitcoin? Reading news, trading, or even writing your own analysis.
But how did you first hear about bitcoin?
Is it some articles you read about? Or just from a friend who has traded bitcoin for a long time?

Share your experience with us. Grin

It was my sister, she was asking me if i know about bitcoin. Because she just found out from our cousin that his eldest brother just bought a 30 thousand pesos worth of cellphone. And the money was from his salary in bitcoin campaign. I did not believe at first because i thought it was a scam but when my sister started recieving salary from bitcoin signature campaign i became interested and persue my bitcoin life.
That's my story.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best altcoins to buy ? on: November 07, 2017, 10:41:07 PM
Yes, those who are on the top 10# or 5# of the coinmarketcap list are the most safest ones, but there are some who are fake ones, like bitconnect, maybe it's price is increasing so quickly, but once that the price of the company drops then it is going to have zero value, because it is an obviously ponzi scheme, you should try to be careful about this token because it is very risky to invest.
ethereum is one of the best, if you are going to go for long term, buy ethereums.

I agree,
Ethereums are stblished, big potential and one of the most used alternate cryptocurrency. And to keep it safe and not taking risk in big promising coins but not tested.
And also you said long term, it is the real key word for taking ethereum. Buy ethereum, it is the best decision to do.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are holding Bitcoin? on: November 07, 2017, 03:16:46 PM
Quote
... the price fall is more than the rise

WRONG.
you need to look at the bigger picture.
right now you are just looking at a short period of time where bitcoin price has came down a little. if you look at a couple of months you can see a rise from ~$880 to $2900 and right now it is sitting between $2200-$2400.

even if it falls more it will still be much much higher than the couple of months ago.

with that said, did you get your answer to why people hold bitcoin

That's right.
Any change in the value of bitcoin is something but in the long run bitcoins value will rise inevitably.
Because as we all know bitcoin is mined by super computers, something like that and as times go by less bitcoin is mined at the same rate and it will come to its limit of acquiring all bitcoin.
By the law of reason and logic bitcoin will be and is like gold.
