Hello community experts
Need to get your advise on something.
did any of you tried connecting 2 S9s to one 5" exhaust? I am running out of space and need to "combine exhausts".
I am using a 1.5m length 5" ducting for each S9 and it appears to me from the airflow at the end of that 5" ducting can support more air flow as it is not that strong. my S9 fans are mostly running at 4280 rpm. Ropm temp is 18C.
Thanks.
I believe if you run both into a single 5in, you will see a rise in your board temps. You will increase your fans "static pressure", which in turn, lowers the cfm. However, if you increase the size of the single pipe to 8in or at best 10in, the cfm should be tolerable for good board temps. u could also run a extra exit fan at end off the pipe to draw the heat away from the machine\ Also, never use flexible duct. The interior of a flexible duct becomes restricted at every bend (exponential). Round metal duct is cheap and easy to run. https://www.homedepot.com/p/6-in-x-5-ft-Round-Metal-Duct-Pipe-CP6X60/100125106

@sidewinder Any chance you could persuade 10 or 15 more of your friends to join KanoPoll? Pretty please with a cherry on top!

Looking for a good deal on Hashing contracts. I got ripped off by https://www.cryptomining247.com/ last year. They payed out for a couple months then zip zero zilch! I like the idea of renting hash power over time and I don't have several thousand dollars to invest in machines right now so... Anyone know a reputable site? Thanks in advance!

If you guys need daily/weekly payouts and 100% luck to keep your mining operations running, this isn't the pool for you. The extra 1.1% you'll pay at the next best option should balance out the variance risk of a smaller pool.
When we hit blocks the payout is way bigger, but that doesn't help if your mining budget can't absorb bad months without a block.
I understand mining is a new hobby for thousands of people, but those people need to understand that it's not "plug in your miner and the magic internet money comes", its a global race every few minutes.
I TOTALLY agree but you have to admit that the magic internet money last month was pretty addictive. I'm definitely going through some withdrawal right now. Mine on!!

Wouldn't it be cool if this forum was integrated as a part of https://kano.is/ and it automatically showed the total hashrate and current ramp speed of each poster along with other relevant stats? It would be easy to see who the posters really are.

I would like to take a moment to thank all of the active members of this board. Reading the discussions here daily has been very valuable to me.
I am 47, have a family, have only 5 S7's but my electric is cheap and I count my blessings each day!
Mine on with Kano!

How many PH do we need to get in the Block a Day club?

I have never seen numbers so big!
All we need is to crack 6 blocks in a row and then we will forget this ever happened.
So Mote it be!

Want to make a point re luck, CDF, etc. Let me start with a point that long term luck is fine, I have no qualms.
In a more granular picture, if you started mining in May of last year, then you are "missing" about 14 blocks, give or take, which is about 4% of all blocks during that period. Granted, if you extend to one year, then you'll have what is expected, even slightly more.
As you can see by sheer number, there were much more blocks coming even a few months ago. Kano cannot control how many miners mine here, but the result is that with a current trend of relatively stable hash, it would be difficult to 'gain back' those 14 blocks in a reasonable time frame.
In fact, going forward, you always have 100% luck expectation, there is no 'compensation' for bad luck. That said, maybe he will have 110% luck for half a year, i would be fine with that.
In general, this used to be a much happier place, even when the luck was temporarily low. Suggestion: need another 100-150 PH hash, pronto.
So we recruit then? I'm in. Point me in the right direction!

What are the chances of us cracking over 30 blocks again without getting more hashing power here? If everybody went out and bought just one more new miner we would add about 20 PH to the pool. I got 7 more on the way. Who else is in? I added a few more and am looking to add around 100 th/s more by the summer. And here I was, getting excited because I can FINALLY afford 2 more th/s. :/ I'm in!

Can someone tell me what the advantage of the Antminer V9, 4TH/s is? Looking at the specs,
Antminer V9, 4TH/s 253mJ/MH+10% Antminer S9, 13.5TH/s 0.098 J/GH +10%
Can someone standardize those specs for me?
The V9 is basically a re-branded S7. Unless you have free power, you should avoid it. The V9's efficiency is 0.257 J/GH +10%, not even in the same ballpark as the S9 with 0.098 J/GH +10%. Notice how they went with a different set of units so you couldn't do a direct comparison? To be fair, the V9 isn't supposed to compare with an S9. If you're talking all out efficiency, the S9 takes the cake.....and is priced accordingly at almost 8x the initial cost. ROI should also be taken into account, not just power consumption. The cost of electricity for different areas as well and may not be as big of a factor for some, if any at all (solar). Also, don't rule out the reward price in BTC at market value. My main point is that we all mine at different levels with different factors involved so it's really hard to pinpoint what would/would not work for someone's situation without a better picture of what they were comparing or trying to achieve. If you were to compare To be fair, I was just answering @Tnaa97 request to standardize those specs. To be fair, it was a general statement, not necessarily in response to your comment. I was just responding in a chain, not specific to your quote. We are in agreement on apples to oranges comparison So is the T9+ the most efficient at 136mJ/GH+7%? Thanks Everyone.
