sorry I should have spent more time on this forum.. but would you mind sending me links to these guys' profile pages? i have only 6 of those test boards, don't want to send to wrong people .. Thanks! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) for those who think this is a scam. we are ready to send demo boards to reputable forum member for verification and review soon. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) vosk or phillipma are my suggestions from this end =) Definitely both Vosk and Phil as they are as trusted as it gets.

GPU miners are too stupid and never adapted to the changing landscape , they think their GPU are still profitable when they are not.. Asic and fpga is where the money is at.
The longer you hold gpus the more rekt you will get
That is true for the short term if you get a first batch one. Otherwise once ASICS are out the difficulty will kill your profits and you have a loud doorstopper. FPGA will be a different story as long as the Devs keep up with the algos

their group is the one who released the "ETH largement pill" for cards with gddr5x...they know how to utilize gddr5x gpu rams......1080ti's here we go again! hehe I spoke to the Dev of progpow and I love their approach. It's not about ASIC resistance but closing the loopholes that make ASICS faster and more efficient. The proposal was posted on the ETH GitHub and I strongly suspect that people were bought by ASIC manufacturers, just read the comments... It's sad. However they have a working algo and miner so anyone could fork and start using it. Unfortunately x16r is not exactly ASIC resistant either, there is a whole list of projected ASIC speed gains over GPUs and yes, we are screwed with the current algos. As much as I don't like ethash I gotta admit it was still the most ASIC resistant algo. (Only 2x gain on ASIC) Hash rates with progpow: RX580 | 9.4 | | Vega56 | 16.6 | | Vega64 | 18.7 | | GTX1070Ti | 13.1 | | GTX1080 | 14.9 | | GTX1080Ti | 21.8 | There is hope for the resistance!

16 x 1080ti's = $30.00 after power
1 amd rig with aryzen and 2 small amd card at eth this rig earns 2 bucks cost 5 kwatts = $1.25 a day profit
Don't do this Philip, you're my muse when it comes to mining ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) what are you mining? I think GPU mining is far from dead however it is not exactly rosy. Chasing new coins and either dumping the shitcoins or holding the ones with some hope is still a way to go if you want a quick buck. My rigs are still making around $1k after elec in a month. They'll ROI soon anyways. I've been worried about a lot things lately, ASICs, FPGAs but then I realised there is no point in worrying, most of the things are out of my control. I can still trade whatever I mine instead of just autoexchanging.

I'll roll if he releases a firmware that bricks the fpga cards. That would be the most epic trolling of all time. Give out some really high figures, get a bunch of people to spend a ton of money on hardware, then release a firmware that destroys the fpga ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I've destroyed an amazon node or 2 accidentally with power draw. Mining is the reason the shell now has that 150A limit. nice FUD It's a completely realistic scenario.

Those are some nice mild temperatures. Go with wood, the initial cost is cheaper. I also find them to be sturdier. Also if you are thinking the typical metal shed everybody's dad had in the backyard, they are pretty flimsy after a while and separate at the seams. Lots of insects that way. Whatever you get paint it white; helps to keep things cooler in the summer sun.
Well, these temperatures are averages. It will go up to 27C today. But more often than not, it rains so I was wondering whether wood would be the right choice, don't want it to rot within a few months especially with expensive equipment in there. On a different note, how would you secure it? It's probably a lot easier to break into a shed than my house.
|
|
|
I'm thinking about moving my rigs outside of the house, most likely into a shed. I'd be housing around 50 GPUs in there with a view to expand the farm. Average temps outside: Month High / Low(°C) January 7° / 2° February 7° / 2° March 10° / 3° April 13° / 4° May 16° / 7° June 19° / 10° July 21° / 12° August 21° / 12° September 18° / 10° October 14° / 7° November 10° / 4° December 7° / 2°
What should I get? Metal or wooden shed? Suggestions are much appreciated.

Yeah, the ZEC devs are looking pretty rotten right now. I've always been put off by their indecent 20% of every block thing, so we don't have any stake in them ourselves. I definitely hope that ZEN and Komodo do something (either algo switch or fork) since those are the two current Equihash coins that I'm fond of. That is absolutely true about ZEC devs, they are going to get their 20% no matter who is mining it.

I pulled the trigger on one with a 200 coupon
you gotta think too, these are "mini" what is the regular version going to be
Those are the ones they're mining with. The plebs get the crumbles.
|
|
|
If i had a 420 coupon, i would probably get one if Zcash is not going to fork.
Zcash is not forking. They do not care who is paying the 20% dev fee.

Hey guys, A bit off topic as it's not solar related but what do you think? Should we be at least a bit worried by the FPGA topic? If you haven't seen it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3459858.0;allThe numbers they're posting are insane, 4x of a 1080ti. I know they are expensive but within months they could screw GPU mining over. ETA from the dev guy is 30th of May. The lead time on these Xilinx cards is 8 weeks. I don't wanna blindly order one and ending up renting it out on amazon AWS to make at least some of my money back he doesn't deliver.

Sigt had glory days? ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Yeah, there were days when I was pulling like $50 per Ti per day. Maybe I was late to the party, I only remember the painful decline and people still believing in the coin...

Amazing work Brian, once again! Get some x17 in there so pornhub users can use your miner as well! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Turned off one of GPU's today.
UK is officially over for GPU mining unless the prices pick up by 3 fold.
Did you make it official? I'll wait for the letter then! Also please do let me know when you out your GPU's on gumtree. I don't mind snatching them up since they make no money, it's official! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I just did some due diligence on RavenCoin and all I can say is, best of luck to you all mining it, because it looks like a train wreck to me. Two different ANN threads with lots of infighting, questionable mining software, and the coin itself doesn't really seem any different from any other random shitaltcoin. I'm going to stick to DERO, ZEN & ITNS. And MUSIC!
EDIT - this sounds a bit harsh/combative upon re-reading it, and that's not the intended spirit; rather, I'd very much like to hear the counterarguments in favor of RVN, because from my (admittedly jaundiced/cynical) perspective it only seems have the support of the CEO of Overstock.com who is, let's say, a rather colorful character (or a crackpot, if you prefer).
I noticed this myself. OTH, there are some successful coins with infighting too (sometimes culminating in forks) though it does look bad in public (hard to hide sometimes though). The overstock thing and MIT link to algo are X factors. Possibly the seeds of something special, possibly not. I'm mining and watching carefully. I spent a bit of time on their discord channels. Yes, there is some drama going on or rather was going on. The main discord was disbanded due to one of the community leaders who used to help the project in the very beginning going rogue. He was the admin of that channel. They also attributed today's dump to him selling all his holdings. (His name is Kai, don't know him) There are two main channels, one with the devs and the other one with @enemy. (As far as i can see) I do not think this is any threat to the project as the devs are still there and very active. It's actually a really nice community with a very few idiots. Brian, the author of nevermore even told us how he got screwed over by someone with his sgminer. Spent two weeks on it, sent it out for beta testing and someone submitted it as their own and got the 25k raven bounty instead of him. Low blow but he was a bit silly. All in all I still have faith in the project, they do have a plan for ASIC resistance as well. I'll continue mining it.

Or they should test in a separate environment. I was thinking this earlier today. I'm sure there's a way they can test in a controlled environment, with a fake coin or setup, without connecting to the real blockchain, mining real coins. why the fuck would they fake mine when they can real mine for months and sell ur idiot ass a used as new toaster /doorstop So much comedy on this thread I mean it makes perfect sense to waste hardware and electricity on fake coins. I did the same when I mined Signatum lol Come on guys, of course all the ASIC manufacturers always test their equipment on live networks to make coins and once they are not as profitable as they used to be they sell it to you (some people would call them suckers but I am more polite than that) who are hoping to ROI in 6 months which usually does not happen. They are not your friends, to them, you are just a dumping ground. (Unless you order 1000 of them, then they might consider you as a partner)

@phillip, The ravens have answered your prayers: https://github.com/RavenProject/Ravencoin/blob/master/roadmap/README.mdTheir plan is to swap algos which is just as good as anything ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) However sooner or later we will be seeing FPGAs or even ASICs where they can remotely update the firmware with new algos, remove algos, etc... So the cat and mouse game is on. I am happy with where this is heading!

We mining Monero, but paid Bitcoin! Did you mine XMR using Browser? if so, how many coins (XMR) do you get per hour or per day or per week? if it is automatically converted to BTC, How long will it take? whether per hour/per day/per week. I'm very curious if you mined XMR with a browser, whether can a profitable or just have fun. Let's be realistic here. That crap he linked is a referral programme infested pyramid scheme. Invite your friends, they can make money as well! Average hash rate of an intel i7-6800k is around 380hs. Put that into a whattomine calculator with 10cents electric and you are making -$0.38 per day! So in a week you can lose upwards of 2.6 dollars! Carry on mining in your browser and you can actually lose over $130 in a year! So good luck with your venture! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Don't forget to welcome them to the pyramid ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Come on guys, anyone believing that you can mine bitcoin with your browser is a fool. But then again, some people think the earth is flat. So have fun mining with your browsers!
