DarthOne,

I'm sorry to hear about the inactivity fees being charged.   If you feel these were inappropriately charged pleas submit a ticket or call 888-812-2525.  We have reviewed the inactivity fee policy and have amended them to provide multiple alerts before being charged. I agree 2fa needs some improvement and this is something we're working on.

Bob,

I want to let BT know about the #lovebitcoin YouTube & Instagram contest. The contest is about driving awareness for Bitcoin by engaging those who love it. The community has shown time and time again that it is creative, passionate, and diverse. #lovebitcoin is about taking the mask off and telling the world your story.

Contest Overview

The Prize

The prize wallet (1P21pR9AYtBGFh4JwX2GdpUn7EzCvUtVUT) has been seeded with 1 BTC (by CAVIRTEX) to begin with but, in the spirit of bitcoin, it is open for community contribution. 100% of contributions by sponsors will go towards the prize pool. Winners will be selected by a panel of Judges and will be announced within 5 days of the contest closing. Thanks to http://bitprint.ca and http://Bitcoin-trader.biz for committing 2BTC each to the prize pool.

The prize pool will be broken down into the following categories.

1 – Ultimate Grand Supreme Bitcoin Lover 50%

2 – Super Bitcoin Lover 5%

5% of the prize pool will go to a Bitcoin Charity.

This is a high visibility sponsorship and community development opportunity. All sponsors will be featured on the contest website http://lovebitcoin.co and 100% of funds go the prize pool. For information on becoming a sponsor go to http://lovebitcoin.co/sponsors

Selection and Judging

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges chosen by CAVIRTEX. Video’s will be scored based on the following criteria:

Originality & Creativity
Popularity & Virality
Passion & Enthusiasm
Quality

I'm really hoping that this community can get on board with this contest.  Ultimately, CAVIRTEX is the organizing sponsor but there is no requirement to include our company or branding into the campaign.  This contest is all about making Bitcoin personal and showcasing the benefits.  We all want Bitcoin to succeed and CAVIRTEX is proud to be putting it on.  I would love the communities feedback on this and any questions, concerns and suggestions to make this thing a success.

Thanks,

Kyle Kemper | CAVIRTEX Director of Marketing

PS. Which Charity would you choose to allocate 5% of the prize pool to?

@Swords, I couldn't agree with you more about UX. And with this in mind our revamped site will feature a UX overhaul with the goal of having a straightforward and rigid user experience, life Facebook, that hopefully the less tech-saavy users will feel comfortable using.

7  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Official CaVirtex.com Thread on: July 03, 2014, 02:51:48 PM
Mr E,

The Interac and Mastercard features are in testing now; these are in addition to debit cards and not meant to replace. We will announce on twitter and here when they go live.

RE: 2FA

I know it's not the most accessible but it's worth taking the time to figure it out.  We're planning alternative 2fa but given the technology the internet thief has we need to be proactive about protecting our clients assets.

Hey Guys,

The July newsletter to follow.

Regarding the video of Joseph, we are about to launch the #lovebitcoin contest and this video is a sample entry put out by Joseph so we can test the system.  The whole point of this contest is about driving bitcoin awareness and adoption by engaging those who love it.  There is absolutely no requirement to mention CAVIRTEX or use our system. We welcome feedback and wish you all good luck with your entries.

Cavirtex , can you please add Litecoin on bitcoinwisdom

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/ltcusd

Hey dude. I recently posted in the BitcoinWisdom thread with our new API data feeds, which include Litecoin pairs:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190722.msg6949329#msg6949329

Note sure they picked up on the post or now.

This seems to be the only way to contact them besides Twitter.

Perhaps you can put in a word in their thread as well.

We hear all of you and appreciate the critical feedback. On that note here is some news.

We will be adding 2 new deposit options. We will soon be allowing Interac online direct deposit and in-person cash deposits. We are thrilled to be making Interac online available to our customers and this represents a huge step forward. With Interac Online, deposits will clear faster than ever before so you can be buying that day.  For in-person cash deposits you will be able to go into MoneyMart, and similar businesses, and fund your accounts with cash. Official announcements will follow when they go live but I wanted to let you know that these are features are right around the corner.

As always, your feedback is appreciated; we just ask that you keep it constructive.

Lots of talk about people leaving Virtex lately... These guys are hot on your heels!

Yes and they withdraw to US bank accounts also...have a physical address here in Brantford,ON (1.5hrs from GTA)

Great opportunities if you can do a wire to BTC-e and arb the USD value for the 20$USD gap then further arb the 10% USD/CAD gap...huge potential, yet comes back to the issue of volume

I'm an investor in cavirtex.... though they keep delaying on delivering shares, and I'm upset enough at this point to leave them to rot...
VOS is my new home until cavirtex starts fulfilling it's promises

Delivery of the shares is progressing, albeit slowly due to legal paperwork. I work for CaVirtex and I have not received my shares either. Nevertheless, the shares will eventually be delivered.

If you would like to discuss things further, please feel free to PM me.

We have identified, fixed and tested the issue with our Bitcoin wallet server imposing a fee of 0.0005, 0.0010 and 0.0015. As a result, we have lowered the fee to withdraw BTC from 0.0010 to 0.0005 BTC. Thank you for your patience while we looked into this.

Was wondering if you guys are considering black coin
Other than its latest pump and dump it has been increasing at 5-10% per day with huge volume
It looks like a solid coin with a solid group of devs behind it.
No pre mine and all POS @ 1%
Last weekend during the pump it was doing 9000 btc trading days and has been averaging about 500 btc on normal days

Cheers

At the present time, we're not considering adding any more alt coins to CaVirtex.

That's not to say we wouldn't consider adding a particular coin in the future if it reaches critical mass.

CaVirtex CEO Joseph David appeared before the Canadian Senate Banking, Trade and Commerce Committee on Wednesday, April 9.

Haseeb Awan, co-founder of BitAccess ATMs, also spoke at the meeting along with Kyle Kemper and Victoria van Eyk of the Bitcoin Strategy Group, and CaVirtex advisor Larry O'Brien.

Please note that Virtex is Virtex and Cavirtex is Cavirtex, 2 ( two ) different companies.

Thank you. And we are sorry once again for this misunderstanding.

I have an excellent solution for the confusion you've caused: Use a different name.

I don't think they have to. Nothing so far indicates that these guys are trying to clone you.  They arent even offering CAD conversions.

If you were so much worried about your branding, you should have bought the virtex domain as part of your business investment.

Thank you very much for your response. You have brought up the exact points that we try to emphasize.

Spoken like a true wolf in sheep's clothing.

Caveat emptor.

Last night our development team patched our systems to protect against Heartbleed.

We have been following developments related to this bug very closely.

Hi, without compromising your security protocols, can you elaborate on what steps were taken to patch your systems and why you are still using an SSL Server Certificate Issued On: 29/05/2013?  Your Canadian competitor VoS renewed theirs a couple of days ago.

Here is a statement from our lead developer:

CAVirtEx has been following the heartbleed vulnerability closely. Our systems were patched on April 7th, the day the vulnerability was publicly announced. Our new SSL cert was installed early today to ensure future communication remain secure.

Due to the nature of the vulnerability and like most services that were using OpenSSL, secrets such as passwords may have been exposed. While it's unlikely anything has been leaked, customers should consider changing their passwords and clearing browser cookies to reissue browser verification.

Great.  Thank you for the update.

Have you guys considered adding 2FA before approving withdrawal requests (in addition to the existing 2FA for login)?  I think this would give comfort to a lot of your customers.

Yes, we discussed this recently. I will be sure to bring it up again.

I missed most of this, are we going to be able to watch a recording afterwards?

Yes, I believe the Senate will post a complete video of the meeting. I will post a link to the video once it becomes available (perhaps tomorrow).

Well those last 20 min were awfully embarrassing.... for the senators. Was the whole thing that painful?

Otherwise Joseph did well. Glad to see he's been working on speaking more slowly lately haha.

Ya, most of the Senators were struggling a little. One of the takeaways: Explaining Bitcoin to baby boomers can be challening.
