Boy its quiet in here..

How's it going everyone.. Still loyal cavirtex sheep?

10 days and not one new post. Seems odd for a thread dedicated to Canada's oldest and largest exchange.

My Bitcoin price checker hasn't updated CaVirtEx for three days, now... I actually logged-on to see it the site was still there...

I've been using "Bitcoin Checker" on Android and it appears to be working correctly.

You guys see Cavirtex's latest video on Youtube?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpILimJbDzE

It's Mr. David, the CEO, giving a short speech about why he loves bitcoin.  It looks like a contest, but he gives zero information in the video to indicate that fact.  There is no description or link in the video hmm...  He asks in the video to hear everyone else's reason why they love bitcoin, but comments on the video are disabled.  hmm...

There is a link to another site in the description of the video to the "contest" site where the 1 video that has been uploaded doesn't work. hmm...

My point is, they "Cavirtex" can't even run a simple video contest smoothly.  I wish they would try to set the bar a little higher.  There are tens of thousands of examples for them to follow on Youtube and elsewhere.  A little more effort on promotion would be nice, they should post the link here in the forum at least, there isn't even a link on their own website!

I'll probably enter.
Peace.

No, I haven't seen it. Did you see where Reed Holmes left CaVirtEx? It showed up as an update on LinkedIn. Apparently, Reed has gone to work for Vgogo. Hmm...

Interesting video.  Funny how he describes the frustration in dealing with traditional payment systems.  That is the exact way I felt and was treated in trying to deal with cavirtex.

That was new to me and assuming that youtube view counter is spot on
One of the first 50 to watch it. (Not trusting that since the comments on the video are disabled)

They do need to work on their PR and social media
I mean it was sponsored by Cavirtex easy enough to plug in
That said I did check the other page and yep that one vid won't play but the bar is set pretty low might join you and put something up but double fail no thread or site update or blog so points to you for noticing that.
http://blog.cavirtex.com/

That said i'm not really sure if he explained why he loved Bitcoin something about the verification process being annoyed with Credit Cards.
# Well at least they use saucal

Really glad to see the positive newsletter this month, looks like you guys are getting back in the game! Keep the good work coming, I can't wait to see the new web site design. Any ideas how long before it is ready?

How long before interac online payments are enabled? How quickly are the mastercards loaded? I thought debit cards were supposed to be getting instant loading, is this going to replace that?

Hey Guys,

The July newsletter to follow.

Regarding the video of Joseph, we are about to launch the #lovebitcoin contest and this video is a sample entry put out by Joseph so we can test the system.  The whole point of this contest is about driving bitcoin awareness and adoption by engaging those who love it.  There is absolutely no requirement to mention CAVIRTEX or use our system. We welcome feedback and wish you all good luck with your entries.

Can't see that being an absolutely good idea here since some people in this digital age still abstain from Mobile Phones or are using dumb phones.
Especially some of the newest Bitcoin users who know little about it and have low technical abilities.

Perhaps a unique pin would be a better alternative combined with a user login.
Log in normally skip the 2FA to execute trades but instead you need to add a four digit pin instead for making orders and withdrawals.

The option is important.

In bold text - 2FA does not in any way make cavirtex more accessible.  I, (and others I know) will just cease to use cavirtex if this is implemented as mandatory.  Being tied to a smartphone is nearly the opposite of MY goals.  I guess there IS an option, it just has nothing to do with cavirtex.  Please reconsider this, or make it optional.  I will open a ticket, since this thread does not appear to be monitored in any way.

2 factor can also work with email. Besides, you're a fool if you don't already have it enabled.

Try teaching someone who is tech illiterate to create an email account then add on the challenge of using 2-FA to login to their account
All within a time limit of say 5 minutes
It's fine for most but not for all users therefore it hinders penetrability for future users.

I accidentally posted this in the wrong virtex thread:

I've seen weird 'spikes' in your chart at BitcoinWisdom a couple of times recently.

For example:

I had a sell order at $698.00 when the spike up to $719 happened, but none of it was matched.

Is this a bug in BitcoinWisdom? Or in CaVirtex?

Edit: your website claims the daily and weekly high was $692:

BitcoinWisdom say it's a bug in your API. Please fix it.

I think bitcoinwisdom is using the old api. Could that be the problem here?

Mr E,

The Interac and Mastercard features are in testing now; these are in addition to debit cards and not meant to replace. We will announce on twitter and here when they go live.

RE: 2FA

I know it's not the most accessible but it's worth taking the time to figure it out.  We're planning alternative 2fa but given the technology the internet thief has we need to be proactive about protecting our clients assets.

CAVIRTEX is Canada's #1 Bitcoin exchange with over 90 million CAD traded in our 3 years of operations. Visit https://www.cavirtex.com.

Sorry but if you're tech illiterate then you shouldn't be using bitcoin at this point in time. And people are going to need to get used to 2 factor sooner or later... It's becoming extremely vital for security, especially for digital assets. I'd rather take a bit of time to learn about security measures rather then losing thousands of dollars out of laziness but hey, that's just me.

Another weird glitch.  The API reported a trade at $704.55 when there were many sell orders below $700 which didn't get matched.

What's going on here?

That's the wrong approach the goal of Bitcoin is to be simple enough that even our Grandma and Grandpa or a Luddite can use it if we can't get user accessibility to the level where a non-proficient person can use it to buy Bitcoins then we are taking the wrong approach to adoption.
More options create more users, creating a more stable Bitcoin environment.

An exchange needs to be as easy to use as facebook so that our parents can use it and should include non-intrusive security measures that keep the server safe and assets stored without needing 2FA.

Cold Storage Wallets, withdraw limits, 24 Hour countdown, pin codes, IP restrictions, implementing a "Cryptographic Proof of Solvency" in accordance with the Bitcoin standard, even PGP there are a lot of solutions available that do not require a phone or additional login protections, at the very least an instruction guide on the process of how to use 2-Fa is important and needs to be visible.

Guess I'll link a few things

I agree with cavirtex though that people should try to figure it out but it should be implemented with more directions explaining how to use it, while alternative solutions are implemented.
