https://www.lafinancepourtous.com/outils/questions-reponses/mon-banquier-peut-il-me-demander-des-justificatifs-pour-faire-un-virement-bancaire/

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC to $500, are you still buying? on: July 17, 2025, 08:09:39 PM
If the seeds could be compromised in the future, there would be immediate panic, and BTC could well collapse and even become worthless.

But so many banks and investment funds have invested in bitcoin, I suppose they've verified that this is unlikely impossible.

It also seems obvious that all the people who know BTC will buy if it dumps (and if they have liquidity to do so).

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as legal tender: A failed experiment? on: July 11, 2025, 06:18:49 PM
While Salvadorans have not adopted BTC as a means of payment, financial flows linked to BTC-related tourism have increased considerably (the decline in crime also inevitably brings more tourists).

El Salvador's tourism industry has grown significantly and is reported to have increased by 30% in 2021 and 22% in 2024, contributing 11% to the country's GDP. However, there are no reports that the increase in tourism is largely due to Bitcoin and the inflow is mainly from bitcoin payments. Because the adoption rate of bitcoin there is very low, not only do 85% of the people in the country not want to use bitcoin, but only 20% of businesses adopt bitcoin. With such low adoption, using bitcoin is not easy for tourists.

According to my research, the main factors driving their tourism industry include improved security, promotion of surfing…,and little to do with Bitcoin.

However, some sources indicate the opposite.

Quote
Tourism in El Salvador has increased by 30% since bitcoin was introduced as legal tender. on Sept 7, 2021. The country’s Minister of Tourism revealed the information, saying that there was an increase in the Q4 2021, 300 million or so more than expected.

El Salvador’s decision to make bitcoin legal tender has paid off as far as tourism is concerned. The law has increased tourism by 30%, according to local media reports on Feb 21. The report said that the tourism sector is one of the most important items for the country’s economic growth — with President Nayib Bukele placing it as the second economic boost for 2022.

It appears that making bitcoin legal tender has put El Salvador on the map of tourists, with foreign tourists outside of the continent increasing. Previously, many of the tourists would come from neighboring countries in Central America. Tourists from the United States make up 60% of the figure.

Quote
Minister of Tourism Morena Valdez said that the sector’s bounceback following the pandemic has exceeded expectations. The government aimed for 1.1 million visitors, hitting a target of 1.4 million instead. Valdez said,

“We did a poll to check the activity according to the before and after of Bitcoin. The tourism sector increased in November and December. This increased by more than 30%.”

The local population isn't going to change their habits overnight, not to mention the logistical equipment needed to understand and adopt Bitcoin. A reliable internet network, PCs or smartphones, as well as educational materials. Regarding educational materials, there are very comprehensive and free training courses like "Mi Primer Bitcoin."

It takes time; it's clear that even in countries with access to everything, like in Europe (equipment and information), a very large percentage of the population is not interested in Bitcoin (and even has no idea what it is).

I also note that the Kingdom of Bhutan began accumulating BTC (around 2019, I believe) without even informing its population at first.

For those who have already tried to orange pill friends or family, it's extremely difficult because people aren't ready to change their habits, whether they are educated or not. So changing the habits of an entire population that doesn't necessarily have access to information is a huge challenge and takes time.

But accumulating Bitcoin in the national treasury, as large private companies are doing, is already a good start—a very good one, even.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: July 11, 2025, 05:45:41 PM
It's worth noting in this poll that the top-ranked figures are considered by Western mainstream media to be dreadful dictators.

Yet, the Salvadoran population now seems relieved by the end of insecurity in the country, while the French population, on the other hand, sees gangs proliferating across the country.

The good management and the desire to accumulate Bitcoin in the treasury (for example Buthan or Salvador) also reflect a genuine commitment to the people. In France, it's the opposite, with shameless waste of public money and a total rejection of BTC mining, even though the country is one of the largest electricity producers in the world.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The regret of early Investors or the regret you get for procrastinating on: July 11, 2025, 05:37:07 PM
Between those who bought or mined BTC when it was only worth a few cents and spent it all on anything and everything (or sold it for a few dollars), those who always hesitated (because they thought BTC was too expensive or too risky), there are also all the others who don't know about Bitcoin! And there are many, many of them.

There's no need to regret it because it's pointless.
I remember an old tweet (unfortunately I couldn't find it) from a young father who had created a wallet for his child and wrote, in 2017, that he never would have thought his son would be richer than himself when he was only a few years old. There are also some great stories with Bitcoin!
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you introduce bitcoin and crypto to your friends? on: July 10, 2025, 12:25:23 AM
I think that today, especially seeing the attacks and kidnappings linked to cryptocurrencies, it's safer to not talk about it anymore. If a very good friend wants to know more, I could give him links to read and learn, but that's it. People have to take charge and learn for themselves too. Most people are too used to wanting everything without making any effort.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as legal tender: A failed experiment? on: July 10, 2025, 12:16:51 AM
I remind you that Christine Lagarde, who headed the IMF for many years until 2019, was always very hostile to Bitcoin. Kristalina Georgieva, who succeeded her, also advocates the establishment of central bank digital currencies. She is less fiercely hostile to BTC, but remains attached to the traditional system, citing terrorism and money laundering (even though money laundering and terrorism obviously existed long before Bitcoin).

Say what you will, but El Salvador's debt represents 85% of its GDP, while France's debt is 114% of its GDP. While Salvadorans have not adopted BTC as a means of payment, financial flows linked to BTC-related tourism have increased considerably (the decline in crime also inevitably brings more tourists). Accumulating BTC in one's treasury is both forward-looking and intelligent; adoption by locals will come gradually.

Not to mention that adopting an unknown currency doesn't happen overnight. In Europe, we had no choice but to accept the euro, even if we didn't want it.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: July 09, 2025, 11:44:40 PM
The president of El Salvador is undoubtedly a pioneer. He is criticized by other nations for his security policy or his purchases of Bitcoin, and despite threats from the IMF, he stands firm. He is truly a great president, and I hope he will teach a good lesson to the right-thinking Westerners (which is already happening in a way).
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin just for the rich? on: July 09, 2025, 11:37:49 PM
There's a good chance that a rich or very rich person will remain rich and even pass their wealth on to their children. A rich person can invest in anything and sometimes even lose money (without it really being a problem)

It seems to me that Bitcoin is the only one that can allow a poor (or less poor) person to fight inflation. Of course, it has to be possible to obtain it in their country, which I imagine isn't that easy everywhere in the world.

In any case, if we take the example of real estate: a middle-class person wants to buy a house. The bank tells him/her that to borrow, he/she needs 5% of the amount. But what if, while waiting to accumulate this 5%, prices have increased by 10%?

Bitcoin is, over time, a real hedge against inflation. We've seen this in recent years, with FIAT currency melting like snow in the sun. Whether you're poor or less poor, I only see BTC as a savings option.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be a good example — CEO takes his salary in bitcoin. on: July 09, 2025, 11:10:33 PM
For employees who live in a country where bills are in FIATs, the only thing that would be interesting is to have the salary in fiat and if they want, the bonuses in btc.

It's a bit like the Australian baseball team Perth Heat which has a very interesting approach to the question since it is a rather playful approach: 1st professional sports team to offer bonuses in btc to its players but also to offer fans to send satoshis via the lightning network to their favorite players, live during a match during a remarkable action for example.

In France it is forbidden to receive one's salary in any way other than FIAT, i.e. in euros.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: TANGEM WALLET: An Innovative Seedles Cold Wallet Setup on: July 09, 2025, 10:52:12 PM
With the European travel rule, states want to track and identify BTC addresses, and that doesn't seem to bother the majority of people.

Despite everything, Binance is losing a few customers in Europe due to the numerous and improbable documents that the platform now requires. Tangem Pay will, of course, have an audience that isn't bothered by KYC because the ultimate goal of this audience is solely to make a profit. This audience isn't particularly interested in anything else, I think.

Some CBs linked to platforms have been banned in France because it's not easy to recover the 30% flat tax with people who pay with this type of card. TangemPay will certainly have difficulty establishing itself in France, unless Tangem sends the statements directly to the tax authorities and the tax authorities then inform the taxpayer of the amount to be paid. Some will undoubtedly be in for some surprises.

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Study (River): 3% of the world population owns BTC on: July 09, 2025, 10:26:30 PM
It is true that these are fairly unverifiable figures, but with the new European travel rule and reporting requirements, this should give more precise figures (in Europe).

The fact remains that some countries like the USA must have many more holders than Europeans. If I take the case of France, it is not tomorrow that the population will adopt bitcoin. The population is generally quite resistant to "new things" and when we see the number of victims of scams in France, we say to ourselves that there is a real problem with IT and cybersecurity in our country.

We must also add to this, even with deepl and google translate, an aversion to foreign languages while a lot of interesting informations are in English. Recently, kidnappings on our soil (related to cryptocurrencies) and their media coverage will not help adoption. Education levels are generally declining, and the brave people who continue to inform their fellow citizens against all odds sometimes also end up getting tired of finding themselves up against a wall.

38 pages already discussing the pizza contest, you are simply extraordinary, it would be so cool to meet IRL (and taste the pizzas of course). This forum will never cease to amaze me  Kiss
20  Other / Meta / Re: [Discussion] Bitcoin Pizza Day on Bitcointalk 🍕 on: July 04, 2025, 10:13:59 PM

Agreed. The current format of this competition feels disconnected from the spirit of the original event.

One could reshape it similar to this:

1)Order pizza and pay with BTC anytime during the year*.

2)Share proof of your purchases during "Bitcoin Pizza Day on Bitcointalk" by placing relevant receipts and photos.

3)Users who’ve bought the most pizzas with BTCand eaten them Grin become the winners.

*) Subject to discuss.

Does that mean we should eat pizza all year round? There's no way I'm gaining weight for a contest  Grin
