Fixed!  Sorry for the confusion on our end - our fault there, we clearly misread it.

4  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: What ever happened to the person/company on here selling BTC in bulk OTC style? on: February 12, 2013, 07:01:08 PM
Anyone know?  I remember him posting up every week or so, filling his block sell orders, and announcing he was out for the week.

Are you thinking of Tangible Cryptography / Bitcoins Direct?  I believe they announced they have enough buying customers for the time being and are deferring taking new customers and building out that side of the business any further until later.  There is a website where you can sign up to be alerted by email when Bitcoins Direct launches.

Here's a link to their thread, I think, if it's the person you mean:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=87094

They also operate fastcash4bitcoins.com, the other side of their business.

That would be it, thanks very much Walter

6  Bitcoin / Mining / Coinbase + Miners on: January 22, 2013, 04:04:58 AM
We've noticed a bunch of miners using Coinbase lately and wanted to let you guys know how we can make your lives easier.  If you're truly focused on mining, there are a bunch of other operational things you still need to worry about but would probably rather not:
-Interacting with an exchange
-Managing your BTC wallet - likely separate from your exchange account, and it takes a good amount of effort to make sure it's secure
-Either paying high fees or using a middleman service to withdraw your profits, which is a manual process

Coinbase puts all of these things in one place.  Link your mining to your wallet address and watch the cash flow directly in to your bank account.  A ton of miners have this set up with us such that their BTC balances are converted automatically to $ and deposited to their bank account after a one time setup, but you can set it up to keep a minimum balance of BTC if you're like me and would like to hang on to some.

We'd love to hear what you guys think or anything else you'd like to see.

Note: This is only for US bank accounts at the moment, but we're working to change that soon.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / MtGox API - getting your own trade history on: January 09, 2013, 11:42:36 PM
I'm attempting to get my own trade history through the MtGox API.  They list the following way to do so in the documentation (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/MtGox/API/HTTP/v1#Your_trade_history):
Your trade history
https://mtgox.com/api/1/BTCUSD/private/trades https://mtgox.com/api/1/BTCEUR/private/trades
Returns all of your trades in this currency (BTCUSD, BTCEUR . . . ) . Does not include fees.

However, this just seems to return the history of all recent public trades instead.  Anyone know how to simply get the list of your trades?  I'm also using the MtGox ruby gem (https://github.com/drkyro/mtgox) if that provides an easier way to do it,
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The upcoming halving of the block reward on: November 17, 2012, 06:38:28 PM
I've done some reading and I'm still not sure I understand how the upcoming change of the block reward from 50 BTC to 25 BTC will affect the money supply.  Is it as simple as halving inflation (i.e. the number of coins created over the next year is half that of the previous year)?  Are blocks easier to unlock now as a result?
The difficulty of blocks is dynamic and depends only on the network hashrate. The network always adjusts itself with the target of 6 blocks found per hour. The block reward halving will force some miners to quit, thus lowering the difficulty in the long run. However asics are supposed to come out soon which will increase difficulty by almost the same factor as when cpu mining got replaced with gpu mining.
Thanks - so the amount of BTC going in to the money supply does in fact get cut in half immediately?

10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Notifications when BTC/$ rate hits certain levels on: June 29, 2011, 03:44:06 PM
I thought I saw that someone had developed some kind of SMS or email notification system when the exchange rate hit certain levels.  I searched, saw the Android app (but don't have an android).  Does one exist?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: June 15, 2011, 01:31:55 AM
I've been trading bitcoins for about 5 weeks now, read frequently, rarely post.  I'm also experienced in other financial markets.  Would like the ability to post in the other parts of the forum please.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trades processing at the wrong rates at TradeHill on: June 12, 2011, 02:06:12 AM
As a quick update, it looks like I did fat finger the trades.  TradeHill has been good about it thus far.  However, I'm still not convinced that the best bid in the market was $9, so I'm not sure how I left an offer in the market that was lifted rather than matching with a bid which was, although still $7 off market, around $19 or so.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Trades processing at the wrong rates at TradeHill on: June 11, 2011, 12:05:07 PM
I came home last night to calculate my profit and loss and something was clearly off.  I went to check all of my transfers to make sure nothing was pending that I wasn't counting, and, after a ton of digging, found off market transactions in my log at Trade Hill:

June 10, 2011, 7:41 p.m.   Obtain: 83.9000 USD Gave: 10.0000 BTC   0.4531 USD Commission
June 11, 2011, 1:44 a.m.   Obtain: 215.8200 USD Gave: 23.9800 BTC   1.1654 USD Commission

These trades are clearly WAY off market considering the price was roughly $22/btc at the time (you can see it from the surrounding transactions in my history, but for reference, this was last night).  In fact, it would have been impossible for me to have even executed at these prices if I wanted to at the time because the order book would not have let me.  The first trade means that I sold 10 BTC and $8.39 per coin, which, given that there were multiple orders in the order book between the high bid at the time of at least 20, clearly does not make sense.  The second trade implies an exchange rate of $9/BTC.  This accounts for the ~$600 I'm missing in profit and loss.  Has anyone else experienced this?  It's clearly wrong.  And it's not as if I fat fingered something and executed at off market rates - given the depth of the order book at the time it wouldn't have even been possible.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: price stagnation on: June 10, 2011, 10:46:16 AM
Look at the volume going through MTGox.  It's clearly an issue with funds being backed up which are trying to flow in to MTGox.  You've seen the threads all over these boards.  Once they get hooked in to Dwolla properly again, you'll see another day like the rush from 19 in to the mid 20s at a minimum.  So many people tried to get funds in before the rush to 30 that have just been waiting to get in now that they see how real the interest is in Bitcoins.
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's the best way to watch BTC price action live? on: May 30, 2011, 03:31:30 AM
Mewants - looks like the charting software doesn't work on a mac unfortunately?  The live IRC feed is great though.

EOF - thanks, this is helpful, although a little reformatting would go a long way.
16  Economy / Trading Discussion / What's the best way to watch BTC price action live? on: May 28, 2011, 10:50:09 PM
I find myself trying to refresh the MTGox market depth table when trying to trade and it's very cumbersome.  Is there an easier or better way to watch each transaction as it happens?
