1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 15, 2014, 09:37:17 PM
Hi!
Today i was thinking about an old affirmation of the dev about the fixed transaction cost amn how they will implement a "dynamic" fee based on the "weight" in kB of the transaction.
I had an idea, that probably will never work or is totally incorrect, but maybe someone smarter then me will have some usefull inspiration:

Monero is an anoncoin with possible multiple encription layer, you can choose, while sending the transaction, how much you want it to be encripted and, obviusly, more is encripted, more it weight and more it will cost.
I was wondering about an option who let people do not encrypt their transaction and then send it without transaction fee (or with really low fees). Plus, we can use both the current algo plus Proof of Stake; all the client will become node and they'll prioritize these "free" transaction while miners will prioritize encrypted transaction (that with their fees will help ghe network keep running). Client of the PoS, if i recall correctly, will act as a torrent client, sendind and receiving transaction with little power and bandwith consumption, but they'll not receive any payment (or a really small one, like an equal [not proportional] distribution of the low fees).
I think this could be a really good feature!

Please do not kill me for this tought and sorry for my bad English!

Your English is fine:) Let's take Proof of Stake out the picture, as PoS is flawed in many respects, and that is a discussion for another time. The rest of what you're saying is spot on, and it is both how Monero works and will work in the future. The higher your mixin level, the more signatures you mix with for your transaction. But then your transaction is also physically bigger (in terms of the kb size of your transaction). When we move to per-kb fees, this will mean that the higher your mixin, the higher the privacy (more ring signatures), and the more costly that transaction will be to you.

I do not see why PoS is so flawed... I think PoW is much worse... but no hope is lost as all the currencies can switch from PoW to PoS....

I understand that the Exchanges could send the money everywhere they want to. Or is there a mechanism to force exchanges to be able only to send the inputs to the intended outputs? I do not see how this could be accomplished...  Huh

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: X11 Coin (XC) Declare Your Stake on: May 26, 2014, 07:26:47 PM
The wallet, the BlockChainExplorer, looks to me like there is no option to send anonymously... looks like a PoS copycat of BlackCoin with higher interest/inflation and slower block times...

Anybody has some info on this coin, or do we just have to trust the developer??
For me right now it looks like a scam... sorry...

I also think people should see the positive thing in this whole debacle... People who entered the coin, who had large holdings because they bought for 250 sats, now have cashed in to many smaller investors who will have a starting price of anywhere between 15k to 35k. So these people are not that likely to cash out, like people who have earnings of 10,000% +... only if they think the coin is going under...

Don't do that, the value of the coin would be extremely diluted. Have you looked into the setup blackcoin has to help prevent double spends? Maybe you could fork the current blackcoin repo into a new coin with 50 million?

In the Coin 2.0 (PoS Coin) thread they want to learn from BlackCoin how to prevent attacks...  Grin

Open letter to rat4 about introducing anonymous transactions using Ring Signature
(DarkCoin wants to start working on it after open sourcing their DarkSend CoinJoin mixing, rat4 could still be quicker to implement it...):

BlackCoin the first PoS-only Coin with Ring Signature for anonymous transactions
http://www.reddit.com/r/blackcoin/comments/25rg4w/blackcoin_the_first_posonly_coin_with_ring/

That would be fantastic and would let BlackCoin skyrocket... PoS only and Ring signature mixing would be unbeatable!!!

Blacksend Smiley
would surely up the price for a while, but not sure how bc merchants and future investors would see this move.

Yep... BlackSend... In DarkCoin you can use DarkSend or the normal send (if you want it to be publicly traceable)...

haven't used the darksend feat yet. does it work like anoncoin that you have to choose if the wallet runs on clearnet, can you choose seperately for each transaction? this would be very good for bc.

It is just a checkbox in the transfer tab... if you mark it, the transaction will display a few other states below and take a bit longer to send... but that is all... Ring signature is also more advanced than CoinJoin which is used for the moment in DarkCoin.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] | BlackCoin Card aka CEX Cards | LibertyCoin Card Coming Soon on: May 17, 2014, 05:05:37 AM
IE , are your going to respond to my point abut what to do about the BC donations ?

I missed that. I am waiting to see if the event is going to go forward since I called a "truce". If not I am going to work out a system to refund whomever wants a refund.

You mean you are considering doing the event? Or do you wait for someone else offering himself to organize the event?

The reasons why BlackCoin

Just to remind everybody why we bought the coin in the first place... and it was not because of IE:

  • 10 times faster than bitcoin
  • 1000 times cheaper than bitcoin
  • not attackable by 51% mining attacks
  • no daily dumping of new coins as all the coins have been mined already
  • CoinKite inclusion
  • Developer who is so good that he even is fixing other coins and this way analyzing their errrors as well...
  • BlackCoin has shown for 3 months that it works, where WhiteCoin and AsiaCoin for example failed

It is not rocketscience.

People sell because at the moment DRK and now also NautiusCoin are way more profitable.

And major dumps for BC are still on-going, no end in sight. Holding BC is not smart at the moment.

Yep... I know how this works for most... You just select any shitcoin that has 50.000 USD marketCap and no infrastructure whatsoever... you buy some and make some noice around the shitcoin using your reputation... when marketCap reaches 2 million and sell it to some other guy... this you repeat over and over... IconicExpert did this with Mint, now BC and wants to do this with LibertyCoin.

The only thing is that BlackCoin is not a simple shitcoin, like the others are. Time will tell...

Ok I call a truce, enough with the attacks and bitterness. BC has suffered enough in the past 2 weeks. No more FUD from me or talking sh.t about the devs, I give you my word. Later today I will change the topic of my thread and focus on the BC cards. Whether you like me or not people love the cards and they do help BC image. I will continue to improve the software on the cards, and once I am done with the new site I will promote the card more. This will help BC price increase since I am not making any new cards until I am done fulfilling all of the orders. This give BC another 2-3 weeks advantage. This is me giving a peace offering, and trying to put an end to the drama

Thanks IE. To make it perfect the WallStreet event would be great as well, but I guess this is not included in the truce right? This way many would be completely happy...
In the end one cannot change the past... so lets move on... shit happens...
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] | BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | LibertyCoin is the new Black on: May 16, 2014, 12:54:35 AM
I think that IE should do the WallStreet event in his own interest... if he has not completely cashed out but for example a million coins left, than he should do it in order to get 10x his money...

This coin has a lot of infrastructure already built around it, and is therefor credible... LibertyCoin has as much as Cinni, WhiteCoin or AsiaCoin. So something like this event there would not stand the test if someone looks at it seriously...

But if he has cashed out, than the only reason for being around here is trying to get his followers into  new coin and capitalize on this. I think it is a bad strategy though, as BlackCoin is technically the best coin around...

The only thing that this coin is missing is the DarkSend function for automatic coinjoin mixing like DarkCoin has... DarkCoin is Proof-of-Work and therefor suffering from the same risk like Bitcoin.... That would be the perfect coin... which does not exist yet... but rat4 perhaps some day will include this in BlackCoin? Hopefully.

Other copycats in the past never got bigger than the original.

You are obviously a fan boy so I will not go one by one...

This coin has NOTHING and is NOTHING other than a gloriously beautiful logo and a community of supporters. In all the other aspects, this is just a hard fork or PeerCoin with a bunch of crooks manipulating every single aspect of it and DUMPING tens of millions of coins at the expense of unsuspecting investors, traders and all around choir-boys.

There's nothing "faster" (other coins are much faster), there's nothing "green" (other coins are much greener) and there's nothing innovative or original about this coin (except for that gloriously beautiful logo). The bunch of manipulating crooks? unfortunately, not even that is original or unique.

IE would be crazy to go on with the WS Event. And crazy egomaniac as I think he is, I believe he's way smarter than to throw himself into such running train. It simply won't happen. This coin will be left to day on it's own (lack of) momentum, because there's nothing, not a single idea, behind this coin, other than the ones -crazy and clever, both- that IE brought. None. Oh they have wasted 1/3 of the $32,550 on the absurd PR firm. And they'll probably spend at least another 1/3 -the third and last one, that's up in the air), but no buying of ideas will save this coin.

Do you know the current project? Oh it has such amazing ramifications, it will probably bring the price back up to 50K sat... the Android wallet. I mean , you can't possibly top that, can you? Perhaps a price-ticker for IPhone? How about a rehash of The Doge of Wall Street called, you guessed it, the BlackCoin of Wall Street?

Ah the genial ideas are so many that you can hardly keep them in check. This coin is indeed going to be unstoppable...

Barabbas, I know that you think that BlackCoin has been premined (although everybody can see in the original thread that this is not the case). So that is something that taints your credibility from the start.

  • Which coins are greener than this one?
  • Everybody can define a 1 second blocktime, but this is not very stable as you can see with Cinni and this is why CoinKite will not work with coins below 1 min.
  • Investors are free to dump, there is NO problem with that. This way the coins gets widely distributed... A problem arises when someone plants falls claims in order to manipulate the market. But there everybody is playing with their reputation like IE does by cancelling his event and bashing the coin he says he loves. This is like ebay... once done you can not gain credibility again easily. But at least he keeps a door open to still do the event if the community is behind him.
  • The Android wallet is super important for being able to pay with the currency and not take your laptop with you. Do not underestimate this

I really wonder why you spend your time bashing all day long this coin... seems to me like you have a short position open... if you do not have a short position you should go to LibertyCoin, buy some, like others, and than pump and dump it... this way your time is productively spent.

This coin is the original and works. Do not cry if something like WhiteCoin or AsiaCoin happens to new copycats... Wink

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] | BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | Where is the Foundation/Community Manager? on: May 15, 2014, 10:49:08 PM
BTW: Did you read the agreement from the PR firm? Did you read what the PR firm is giving this community for $30,000? It was fancy talk for press releases! The same thing I was doing FOR FREE.

In this I agree with you... the PR firm will do nothing that will be noticed... your WallStreet event would have been a 1000 times better and cheaper...

What is so horrible about training 50 nice women for the event? I think you would have a nice time as well... but if you ask the foundation to dissolve itself you know this will not happen. But you could carry on and show how effective your measures are and could recover from this nightmare... This way you would not have to refund anybody and I think we all would be happy.

You wrote in one of your posts less than 2 weeks ago that you would do the event anyway... even if it was putting your own money on the line... if you break so many promises you think that people will trust you again, or only see you as a convenient pump and dumper, who moves from coin to coin?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] | BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | Where is the Foundation/Community Manager? on: May 15, 2014, 09:41:07 PM
I hated to see how the first guy came and asked why we did trust you with our funds and the stupid discussion which started... but seeing this outcome he was absolutely right.

So lets see...I agreed to send the funds to whatever project the community decides on, but he was right?... If you say so...

Ok, sorry... I was on my mobile and did not see that...

Would everybody agree to give the 6000 USD or so that were donated for the WallStreet Takeover event to maarx of the WS Foundation, if he agrees to do the event and for IE's sake guarantees that nobody else of the foundation will touch the money?

6000 USD? Look at my previous posts for the correct amount please.

The only right thing to do is for IE to return the funds to the donators. The BlackCoin Foundation should not get involved with handling this fund. I am happy to help foundation with fundraising but those funds raised by IE are toxic as far as i'm concerned and should be returned to senders IF the senders want the funds back.

Yep, but it is too much work for him... so let us be pragmatic... let us as a community decide to do the event. IE does not have so much work and we get what we wanted in the first place.

The problem is that if a single donator did not agree it would cause the foundation problems and they would be performing the refunds. Then what would happen? What would happen if the refund requests were bigger than the donations? I don't think the foundation can touch this money, it would be like opening a can of worms. It was IE responsibility and there is no option but for him to deal with it.

It "being too difficult" just doesn't cut it.

If the foundation promises to do this event as it was planned than no donator (me included) would protest. That would be stupid....
