1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTCJam.com problems on: October 12, 2014, 11:21:44 AM
Why don't we get together in a dedicated BTCjam forum?

Posts regarding BTCjam seem to be spread all over BitcoinTalk, without any overview.

I took the liberty of setting up www.btcjamforum.info it's still pretty much empty, but with some luck it can grow into a useful alley of communication and information!

If Bitcointalk wants to set up a dedicated btcjam section, preferably very visible with some proper subforums (child boards) I don't mind taking down the one I set up!

Maybe we should get a dedicated forum on BTCjam going.

Many pitfalls, but also many decent opportunities!

www.btcjamforum.info

Still empty, maybe it can grow to a good resource!

4  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Colocation with low power costs? on: August 16, 2013, 08:39:21 AM
Guess it depends on where you are.

In Europe, where electricity seems to be costing around 0.3 US$/KWh, you indeed will not break even doing GPU mining on LTC.

But it seems like most of the US cost seems to be anywhere between 0.09 and 0.13 US$/KWh, depending on which state you are in.

Same where I am, in Thailand, between 0.1 and 0.13 US$/KWh depending on what type of meter you have installed.

So, as an example, at today's difficulty and price of LTC's, a rig with 2 7950's, conservatively clocked, will eat maybe a tad over 600 watts at the wall plug.
It'll likely hash away at around 1200 KHash/sec.

So, forgetting for a second the investment you have to make, this works out to the following:

US at 0.09 US$/KWh  ---- 3.45 US$/day worth of LTC   -1.3$ power  = 2.15$ nett/day
US/Thailand at 0.13$/KWh   --- 3.45$ US$/day worth of LTC   -1.87$ power   = 1.58$ nett/day
Europe at 0.3$/KWh  --- 3.45$ US$/day worth of LTC   -4.32$ power   =-0.87$ nett/day
5  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Bitcoin in Belgische café's - how to get it accepted on: August 11, 2013, 10:44:28 AM

Zo wil men de zwart verkoop 100% uitschakelen.

Me thinks journalism has just collapsed!

Heck, I think I'll just register a website, post on my blog that Heroin is now approved for medicinal purposes the world over after having had a meeting with the WHO, next thing we see is pretty much all news website confirming Heroin is now legal for medicinal purposes. No need to wait until the WHO confirms this, let alone governmental spokes persons.   Cool Smiley

So everybody ran with a story that a country made bitcoins totally illegal.

With as only single source a private website (newly created/registered just 7 weeks ago) from somebody/some company wanting to buy/sell bitcoins online in Thailand (with a horrific big spread of almost 20%, nice money spinner there).

No confirmation from the organization (Bank of Thailand) who supposedly has made bitcoins illegal, they are not commenting at all.

Yet virtually every website is openly posting Thailand officially and legally outlawed bitcoins. Including big names such as CNBC, Associated Press,...

I received from them.
like someone pointed out, it's a bit of waist of time if you look for making real money.
but for the fun of getting a few micro-bitcoins it's there Smiley

Just wait until Bitcoin is worth $10k and you can say it made you rich Smiley

Bah, only been going down the last few weeks.. Having problems staying above 100$  Angry

Been using them since the 16th now, they haven't missed a beat.
Actually, it looks like they just had some higher bidding advertisers now, getting quite a few 40 and more ubtc per ad. Just a few of those and you hit the 100 ubtc threshold.

It looks like every so often they check and everybody over 100 ubtc gets paid their full amount, and then just start over at 0.
All amounts have been carried over, but you must keep the same wallet of course.

PLayed a few dice with their advertisers with the BC coming in from bitvisitor and managed to win as well.

Even when they say "no ads, come back tomorrow", often after just a few hours it all starts again...
