If you're going to do mandatory 2FA (which I agree with)
WTF.
Why would you agree with such a thing?

Some of us don't run computers infested with spywares.

Most/all banks and brokerage sites I know of do not require 2FA for their users.  It is always optional.

Most that I know of don't even provide it.  I guess they're worried about confusing the masses.  But they also have the ability to recover funds and/or undo most of the damage done after a hack.  With bitcoin the damage once done, is done.

good day, Happy to see you are addressing important issues regarding security and transparency. Also I'd like to publicly thank you for your quick response to our meta divisions' inquiries. Keep up the good work, we are especially looking forward to any updates to the NPC aspects of the game...Ira
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Grumpiness of this forum on: July 08, 2013, 04:32:06 PM
WTF kind of post is this - wait till BTC get's to zero - then see just how pissed everyone is.

About the only thing that would take value to zero would be an actual crack of the entire system.  I'm very confident that is not happening any time soon.  Even the very few entities that could do it some time in the mid-term future (a decade or two) have no rational motivation to do it.

Oh, but back to the original subject:  $69.21?  WTFFF?  (What the fucking fuckity-fuck.)  I don't think that's a rational valuation.

good morning, We have been working hard to anticipate any cyberattacks that could effect bitcoins' blockchain integrity. There has been a number of requests and concerns that we are looking at on a case by case basis. Maintaining consistant transaction processing protocols will always be at the top of our list...Ira
5  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forums should eliminate 'Scammer' ratings and 'Trust' ratings on: July 08, 2013, 02:15:28 PM
I don't agree. It's a good way to warn people for potentional scammers. Trust is always needed, and escrow should be something everyone uses, but the ratings add extra security.

good morning, I encourage you to review Satoshis' paper and explain to us how he defines trust...Ira
6  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 08, 2013, 02:08:15 PM
There is no lack of demand for Asicminer shares so I don't see any reason to use company funds on paperwork that only serves to attract potential nervous shareholders. The blockchain shows the money coming in and going out and the hashrate proves the existence of the hardware.

good morning, I was able to get a hold of Jim who had been taking care of IR for several weeks now. I think he will be in the office in the next couple of hours. I'm not sure if you guys have been talking with him already. Reading this thread it seems very unlikely. He did mentioned the salvage tax issue is being hashed and processed in the NPC orphan depository. I agree it sounds a little undefined at this point in the game...Ira

good morning sir, So do you have any questions? There seems to be a considerable amount of confusion on this board. We are actually looking for designers and engineers who have innovative skills to contribute to the bitcoin project..Ira
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if all transactions go 'Off Chain'? on: July 08, 2013, 06:33:08 AM
good day, What you are suggesting would require the user to trust the offchain operator. You need to reread Satoshis' white paper. Bitcoin was designed to not rely on trust, I works because I depends upon proof of work confirmations within the peer to peer CPU user pool. Any questions?..Ira

Off-chain solutions MUST complement on-chain transactions in order for Bitcoin to be mass adopted.  It seems like many in the bitcoin community suffer from severe tunnel-vision, and have lost complete sight of the big picture.

What is bitcoin competing against?  We are competing against government-issued currencies.

What can people do with government-issued currences that they can't do with bitcoin?  They can exchange them INSTANTLY, and store them safely in a bank (3rd party).

In order to compete with the likes of PayPal, we need bitcoin to be as CONVENIENT as PayPal. Currently:

- Maintaining a secure bitcoin wallet has a higher level of difficulty than maintaining a PayPal account.
- Sending coins to a public key is more confusing than sending money to an e-mail address via PayPal.
- Waiting 10+ minutes for transactions to confirm is 10 minutes longer than PayPal transactions.

While the blockchain offers decentralization and pseudonymity, it must be complemented with off-chain solutions if we want people to be able to use bitcoins with the same ease as, say, US Dollars / PayPal.

good evening, Happy to clear it up for you. Offchain transactions require trust. Bitcoin works because it functions using an advanced systematic indexing system. The larger the network the more confirmations are possible. This number is correlated to the degree of reliability.  We are always looking for ways to expand and build up asicause nodes. Feedback is always welcome and helps to boost morale in DM communities who are still byte-dark...Ira

My loyal USA customers:

If you've been satisfied with my service thus far and want it to continue, I encourage you to contact ASICMiner and provide them with honest feedback about my business practices so they can make an informed decision regarding a re-seller partnership. It would take you 60 seconds to do just one of the following:

  • PM friedcat - tell him how your experience with me has been and your honest opinion about me becoming an exclusive US re-seller
  • Email ASICMiner (asicminer.usb AT gmail.com) and tell them how your experience with me has been and your honest opinion about me becoming an exclusive US re-seller

Please see my OP ... TL:DR - I would love to continue serving you all, but only as an exclusive US re-seller with standard privileges and protections.
Exclusivity is generally a bad thing, no matter who it is.

good evening, These devices are classified as being part of our open source project. Do you have any way of contacting the outfit that is producing this hardware under the bitcoin logo? This for profit use has never been authorized by the foundation and goes against our mission statement...Ira
  • Bitcoin itself is not exclusively an open source project.
  • I don't think you represent the Foundation (if you do, you should be fired for making stupid posts like this).
  • I am relatively sure that neither the Foundation nor anyone you represent hold any trademarks to the BTC symbol.
  • I don't see any way Bitfountain's consumer devices go against the mission statement of the Foundation.

good evening, Yes, Bitfountain is a large group of developers out of New York City. I'm so happy to be able to share with you what I know. We believe people need to gain a correct understanding of whats really happening here. Bitcoin is an open sourced project. Demands by administrators has fueled the larger part of this recent push. One example is keeping a way for participants and chaotic leaders on universities from corrupting servers. The blockhain networks are the backbone so proof of work protocols are built on armour txt base nodes. I urge you to read Satosjis' CPU paper again. Satoshi he joined up with the iBrunch development and research team several weeks ago...Ira

Just two question can makes you thinks the same way with me: Did Friedcat deducting any mining revenues because he said he need to pay electricity or rent?
So who pay the rent and electricity? further more , You really think AM is Co??? if it is why should Friedcat not deducting your BTC to pay the electricity and rent?
Again be realistic, Friedcat just want to ensure BTC become succeed by contributing his effort in it ,also by giving out more BTC to the public.

He is a visioner, this what I thought of this guy.

ASICMINER is a part of Bitfountain, which you will find is a legally registered company in Shenzhen. That information is on the first page of this thread.

Electricity and rent are probably deducted from the hardware sales revenue. Why on earth would you think rent and electricity would not have to be paid if there AM was not a company??

Don't bother answering - the amount of irrelevant and unsubstantiated misinformation you are cluttering up this thread with is unbelievable, and you are hereby ignored.

good afternoon, The Bitfountain team over at CUNY i'm familiar with, they handle lots of our marketing analytics and mobile networking issues. Where are you drawing this connection? I'm thinking someone must have given you the wrong information. I suggest you look into this right away...Ira

good morning, I have been informed you are in charge of producing bitcoin specific mining hardware. My group would like to welcome you to your cybercommunity. Take some time to look at some of the projects we are working on. We are a recognized internationally known authority on innovative technology. Is there is an e:mail address or other way to contact you ..Ira
14  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forums should eliminate 'Scammer' ratings and 'Trust' ratings on: July 07, 2013, 01:33:03 PM
One of the reasons people use bitcoin or any crypto currency is to eliminate the need to trust the other party.

The use of scammer ratings and trust ratings increases the ability of people to rely on trust in their transactions.

BitcoinTalk forums should remove all references to scamming, scammers, scams, trust and the like, in order to decrease the community's ability to rely on trust, and encourage business models that are transparent and do not rely on trust.

Thoughts?

good morning, Yes if you care to read the white paper it will make more sense. Bitcoin eliminates the need for trust by instead relying on science and proof of work. This forum is a circus...Ira

if AM keeps dumping those BTC at that rate, we will see $50 and then probably $25 sooner or later.

Please link me to your source.

I really would like to see this information and I am going to assume for now you did not just pull it out of your ass.

Thank you.

good morning, Are you involved with this shop. I'm concerned people are not getting the full perspective. Who is in charge of sales of these open source devices...Ira

good morning, What is a virtual stock this is a news to me. What brokers deal in these types of instruments thanks..Ira

Here we go:

Quote
Why would I want to invest in a virtual currency company?
To expand your BTC virtual currency fortune of course! Or something more noble, like funding a project for a greater good.

Is it legal for this exchange to operate?
Most countries require real securities exchanges to register and abide by a very strict set of rules. Obviously we do not have the funding to afford such registration or the overhead of administering such rules. In addition, no single country would allow such an exchange to operate globally. As such we have taken the following approach to the operation of the site:
  • No assets on the site are to be considered real.
  • The use of this site is for educational and entertainment purposes only.
  • If an asset issuer on this site defaults, you have ZERO RECOURSE. (not like you have any recourse in most international BTC situations anyway.)

Is it legal for me to use the site?
Most countries will have no problem with you using a securities simulation site, even one that uses digital virtual currencies. There are multiple examples of virtual goods exchanges in operation around the globe, most of which are better funded in the legal department than this one. It is largely on the backs of these giants that we believe we are in the clear. We also believe that everything digital has some value to someone, and trying to artifically limit what "virtual" or "digital" belongings people are allowed to trade or play games with is simply not going to be possible. Of course, please let us know if you believe your country may have an issue with it and we will post prominent warnings. We do ask that you keep the following in mind at all times:
  • No assets on the site are to be considered real.
  • The use of this site is for educational and entertainment purposes only.
  • If an asset issuer on this site defaults, you have ZERO RECOURSE. (not like you have any recourse in most international BTC situations anyway.)

Why should we trust this site after so many others have failed?

We are different in several key ways:
  • We do not pretend that we are a real registered exchange.
  • We do not pretend the assets on the site are real.
  • We are a real company, registered in Belize.
  • We are transparent. We do not lock you into using our site. Every asset issuer receives a daily email showing who is holding their assets. This allows them to move their virtual operation off the site to anywhere
  • else they might choose.

good morning, Who runs this exchange, and where is the registering agent contact information as required by law thanks..Ira

Burnside runs the exchange. And since it is advertised a virtual exchange, not a real one, it doesn't fall under those parts of the law. The company that operates the exchange is registered in Belize. I'm sure you can find contact info on the site somewhere ^^

good morning, There is no contact information on your website. I'm surprised no one has brought this up already...Ira

Total network rate is hitting 200 TH/s for the first time. Time for a friedcat announcement to bolster sentiment  Grin

I think friedcat has only made one real update in this  thread since I started to invest. Seems like years ago but actually only June 24th. Did he used to post more often than this?

It used to be more frequent, as time has gone on, they have become far less common.
As Friedcat become a billionaire, he need more time to managing his business empire ...

good morning, I'm afraid to say they played a joke on you. There is no real computer chip company here to speak of...Ira
18  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 07, 2013, 01:01:59 PM
btw, people "dumping" in the last few weeks are in general not "people that need the money", they are scared "investors", thinking the price is falling to the floor and their dream of "getting rich quick" is in ruins.

Personally, and being really harsh, these are chumpsters and the bitcoin economy is better off without them.

good morning, I'm starting to see why they asked me to shut this program down. This is an open sourced project that has been hijacked. Read Satoshis' white paper and it will become perfectly clear. Our research will continue no matter what efforts are taken to censor communication...Ira

Not exactly.

You can trade virtual stocks.  Emphasis on the virtual.  You have to look very carefully at what people are offering and make up your own mind as to whether you trust them to deliver or not.  I highly recommend doing lots of research before getting involved.

Cheers.
