1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 04, 2014, 07:20:22 PM
Still waiting on my ~100 BTC withdrawal.  Their news update says that failed transactions should now be refunded, definitely not the case.
2  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do China products has poor quality? on: January 25, 2012, 11:38:55 PM
One thing nobody has brought up is that pretty much everything is made in China.

High end, well built products from Dell, Apple, pretty much any tech product?  All made in China, and all great quality.  The problem is not the Chinese, they are perfectly capable of building fantastic stuff.  The problem is when a company does not want the added expense of high quality production.
3  Other / Archival / Re: Donations Towards A Car on: September 11, 2011, 07:37:31 PM
Why can't you afford a new car for at least several years?

You can get an old Civic or something that gets 35+ MPG for under $1000, probably closer to $600.  Even if you just got some terrible minimum wage job, you could make that much money in about 75 hours, or less than two weeks full time.  If you only worked part time, you could still do it in less than a month!

Aside from that, have you factored in the costs of owning a car?  Legally, you are required to have insurance, and then you have have gas, maintenance, and repairs on top of that.  I am going to assume you are under the age of 18, otherwise you would probably already own a car for logistical reasons.  In that case, you might be able to be added to your family insurance plan, but expect to pay at LEAST $150 a month in insurance for someone your age.  If you cannot get on your family insurance plan, then bump that up to at least $200 a month.  Until you turn 25 or so, you are basically screwed in terms of insurance rates.

Don't get me wrong, this is a cool idea, and I totally support people doing what they want with their money!  But even if you did get enough Bitcoin for a car, it does not sound like you have any plan for actually being able to drive it. :-/

Donated 0.3 BTC.

Now that's just great. Can't login with neither the old nor the new password and the Forgot Password link is not working either. Good job.

Same here.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The next step for Bitcoin: Cell Phone Service Takeover on: June 24, 2011, 03:29:29 AM
Because I have family members that work at at&t and apple. I can get an unlimited amount of phones if these this works out. Your probably wondering why not sell them on ebay yah yah yah... but unlike you, Mr. Useless Troll, I have an idea and a dream Smiley

I am a troll because I gave you legitimate advice?

Look, your plan is full of holes.  Here are some actual problems you need to solve:

1) Who is going to provide phone service?  Are you contracting out another prepaid company, or is this just a hardware service?  Running a phone service provider is not trivial, and it takes an enormous amount of money.  Aside from that, you are subject to all manner of government regulation.  Why would people even WANT a Bitcoin phone service provider?  So that there is yet another central place that people can track their activity to?  What are you going to do when the government asks you to turn over all your call logs?  And if this is just a hardware site... Well, why exactly would people want to use it over a more untraceable, cheaper method?

2)  Apple sells iPhones off contract now, to the general public.  Your connections are not worth anything meaningful, much less the job of running this company.

3) You don't have a computer.

Like I said before, why are YOU the best person to run this?  That is not trolling, it is a question that any investor would ask you.  You do not even have a computer!  What you have are friends who work at phone stores, and that is really not much.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The next step for Bitcoin: Cell Phone Service Takeover on: June 22, 2011, 04:28:27 AM
This reminds me of people who post on forums that focus on homebrew game development, along the lines of "hey i have a great idea for this mmorpg we just need programmers and artists and servers and i wrote the story with my friend it took a whole week.  i will be managing this product just need people willing to help out it is a really good idea guys!  also i came up with a name for it."

Here is the real question: Why would anybody with the skills to do this help you?  You do not bring anything to the table, the project would be better off without you.  If you really wanted it to succeed, you would be happy to have someone who knows what they are doing run it, and just work at promoting them.  Not for any compensation, either.

I just got this notification, too, so I guess someone must be going through all the accounts that got leaked.  Undecided  Had to do a phone verification, and I also got notification from eBay, to boot!  Luckily, I use different passwords.

I think I am done with MtGox.

10  Other / Obsolete (selling) / WTS: 500 PPUSD for BTC, good reputation, will pay slightly above market! on: June 18, 2011, 05:07:31 AM
Hi!  Yes, I know, Paypal is a terrible option for people wanting to sell their Bitcoin, because of chargebacks and all.

That said... It can work, if both parties trust each other.  I have gotten a lot of my friends (And members of my forum) interested in Bitcoin, and I have been selling them some of mine (Not for profit, just market value!).  The main reason I got tasked with acquiring BTC for all of us was that I had a bank account linked to Dwolla, so I had a few days head start.  Problem is, I have now nearly emptied my bank account, as opposed to my now full Paypal.  Yes, I could transfer from Paypal, to bank, to Dwolla, to MtGox, but that could take more than a week, depending on how slow each part goes!

Because of that, I would really like to use some of this Paypal balance to get more BTC to distribute.  Here is my reputation:

1) I have two eBay accounts, one with 30+ 100% feedback, and another with 200+ 100% feedback
2) I am a Paypal premiere member, I have purchased more than $5,000 worth of goods in the past 6 months through them, with no unhappy sellers
3) I have sold about that much, and as my 100% feedback shows, no unhappy buyers, either
4) I am the founder and owner of the ModRetro forums, a large electronics forum that is more than 2 years old, with 2,000 members
5. I have had several transactions on this forum, including buying Bitcoin, selling advertising space on my forum, and selling one of my Android phones

Basically, I have a long internet history behind me, and there is no way I am going to throw it away for a few dollars.  If anyone wants me to verify any other information about myself, I would be happy to do so!  Hopefully this appeal is enough to convince someone here to deal with me.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!  I am starting the process of transferring my Paypal funds to my bank account, just in case nobody will take me up.

Does it need to be new?  I have an older Macbook, pre-unibody that I would be willing to sell.

8 BTC sounds good!  I do not mind using ClearCoin, but would rather do without it.  I don't mind verifying myself in public, so people can look back at my posts and see I am hiding nothing.

I am the owner of the ModRetro forums (forums.modretro.com), which have operated for 2 years, with over 2000 registered users.  My username is PalmerTech, you can PM me there if you want to verify I am the same person.  I am also on eBay under the username Luckey92, and have 100% feedback as a Paypal premiere member.

If you PM me your address, I think I can have it shipped out by tomorrow!
15  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: [WTB] Android Phone on: June 08, 2011, 04:38:11 PM
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant, unlocked for ATT and Tmobile.  Runs 2.2, has an OLED screen, 1ghz CPU, 16gb internal storage.  Nice thing about it is that it is the same hardware as the Nexus S, the current "official" Google approved developer phone.

10 BTC shipped via priority mail?  Comes with USB cable, charger, and an 8 gb MicroSD, making the total capacity 24gb.
16  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: WTS - Affiliate Movie Website earning $60/day average! on: June 03, 2011, 10:27:47 PM
I am interested.  Could you PM me the domain name to take a look at, along with more information on your monetization techniques?
17  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Advertising space on my forum, 80,000+ page views daily, several million monthly on: June 03, 2011, 06:58:37 PM
Anybody interested?  In light of the current rise in BTC value, the CPM would be lower.

Make an offer you think is worth it!
18  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Advertising space on my forum, 80,000+ page views daily, several million monthly on: May 20, 2011, 10:26:58 PM
I do not have a rotation system in place yet, but I am looking into installing.  Right now, I am hoping to sell one header ad, and one footer ad, and keep it to just those.

Since I do not really have a baseline to work with, I am not sure what a good price would be.  I was thinking $0.08 BTC CPM, which would probably be about 160 BTC per month, but I am open to negotiation; What do you guys think a fair price is?  I am even willing to take a lowball offer for this first month, since I am just starting this.
19  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Advertising space on my forum, 80,000+ page views daily, several million monthly on: May 19, 2011, 09:56:40 PM
You could easily accept it as a payment option without advertising.

Oh, for sure!  But since ModRetro was never about the money for me, I would like to put as much of it towards Bitcoin as I can.  We have a very active buying/selling community, and I think that if I made a good show of supporting it, a lot of forum members might convert over to BTC for their inter-member payments.

@Freemoney: I mentioned it at the bottom of my first post, I have seen them.  Trying them out right now, just waiting to get approved, but I would prefer a stable relationship.

why not host in browser mining gear for your own pool? :p

To be honest, because I have no idea how.

I mainly want to dabble in Bitcoin because I really love the idea of a decentralized currency, and when our store opens in June, I would like to accept it as a payment option (Will be mostly modding gear, tools and the like).
