Individual exchanges could theoretically 'taint' coins, but if the developers tried to implement this it should be rejected. If the developers can block transactions they don't like, then the government can force them to block any transactions they don't like as well.

Governments keep talking about terrorists using BTC to finance an attack yet I have never seen a single murder being carried out with BTC let alone a sale of a weapon of mass destruction contrary to the thousands that happen with fiat.

Holy shit, these people really are delusional, I think almost all journalists who act like this towards Bitcoin should immediately regarded as pro-banking trolls because every time I try to actually analyse their mindless rants they make less and less sense, particularly with this tulip bullshit because they completely disregard the fact that you can't make more than 21 million Bitcoins and it's a deflationary currency, then there's the way they regard it as a 'scam' while of course completely neglecting to explain why it is and forgetting to mention the fact that the source code can be looked up by absolutely anyone.

Later on, bitcoin blows up and he decides anonymity would be better, and eventually leaves the project.
His brother said he suffered a stroke, and it may be that he's no longer as smart as he used to be. It's also possible he forgot the passwords to his crypographic keys. That might be one reason why he might not want to come forward - if he'd lost the keys he could be extremely embarrassed.
Baseless speculation. Satoshi tried hard to be anonymous from the very beginning, he never gave any personal info despite people asking from early on and always used anonymizing techniques. Furthermore, thinking that a system like Bitcoin could come out of the blue from someone who never published before any work related to cryptography/electronic cash (and not a single blog post or mailing list mail) is beyond naive. Right, no personal information - except his actual name. There are two possibilities here. Dorian, or he's not. But if he's not, what's the plausible explanation for how Satoshi ended up using Dorian's birth name as his pseudonym? Just by picking random syllables? Originally, I assumed that's how he got it - but there are only a few Satoshi Nakamoto's in the world, and one of them just happens to be a software developer who used to work on classified projects for the government - it just seems incredibly unlikely. That Dorian released bitcoin using a slight variation of his own name, not expecting it to become anything major and being taken aback when it did - seems more plausible. There's also the question of whether or not he had a stroke in the intervening years. His brother said he had one - but not when. |

Seems to me that if I were trying really hard to convince the world that I was not some crazy crypto-anarchist, I would have routinely participated in local government throughout the years. I might also write letters to city gov in crappy, broken english so that people say "yeah, defo not Satoshi." The man worked for the U.S. Gov for many years in top-security-clearance research positions, likely had to write many reports, the chance that he actually writes like a 7th grader is slim to none.

If he did have a stroke he might not even remember how to access his old private keys. Also, when people get older they tend to speak more slowly, I've noticed. The email address " mtn_sssh@hotmail.com" doesn't show up anywhere else on the web. Supposedly the Dorian S. Nakamoto sig was added in 2008, a few months before the genesis block was authored. IMO this is b.s. How often did Dorian use S as his middle initial before this article came out? His full name is "Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto" - He'd likely use Dorian P. S. Nakamoto if he wanted to use include middle initials. It's only been after the story broke that people have been refering to to him as "Dorian S. Nakamoto", presumably to remind people that his name includes "Satoshi Nakamoto" Seems really unlikely to me. |

I wonder cause I don't see much darkies involved in bitcoin, most people who seem involved ATM are either white europeans and americans and eastern asians. so why are other races not involved in bitcoin? is it cultural? or they just don't care? The problem with defeating the establishment, at least in the west, is that anyone who gets anywhere in challenging them ends up being co-opted and becoming part of them. The bitcoin early adopters, at least the ones who didn't lose their wallet keys, are now extremely wealthy. The government caters to the very wealthy because they have lobbyists, and now they realize that if they can get some government regulation, a government stamp of approval they'll be able to get the masses, who actually trust the government when it comes to things like money to adopt. |

A government doesn't need to chip people to identify them, they can go by facial recognition, retinal scans or fingerprints.
