I don't understand how you are getting .7 out of the VRMs on firmware 0.94.  I'm running 0.94  and have .9+v and don't see .7 unless I run 0.95.

I believe you have to do the secret handshake to get it to switch back to high volts once you go to .95+  Wink

It might need a hard reset or perhaps going to an earlier firmware first..  i kinda forget myself the surefire way of switching them back

My 8 vrm Jupiter never has the output voltage above .7*v

Is this the case with everyone else with 8 voltage regulators per board? I'm on .94 I've never taken a reading on .93 or .91 so I don't know if its better or worse. I don't want to play either as I'm getting 508gh/s showing on eligius 12hr! Now 24+hr with out reboot as well.

I JUST GOT 48 F'ing cores online/a dead die is ALIVE, first try with enablecores.bin on firmware .94!

I'm glad.

Quote
Was getting a 486ghs(avg) in CG now getting after a few min 516ghs(avg) WOAH!! All I did was stop CGminer by pressing q inside it, then I applied the enablecores.bin and rebooted. I'm an 8 VRM Jupiter guys DO THIS, stop waiting.

so let check if I understand this correctly.

1) u where running on 0.94 @ 486GH/s
2) you have a die on one of your ASIC slot with all 48cores disabled.
3) you stopped cgminer
4) apply enablecore.bin from web interface
5) click on the reboot link in the web interface.
6) after that you're mining @ 516GH/s

is it right ?

HAHA yes I know it's wild! To be more specific my 5 second before was 505+- 10ghs with a usually solid 486 CG average. After the enablecore.bin procedure you reiterated above I'm getting 5 second going from 510 to 550ghs and a solid  514 avg as i type no issues to report at the moment. I'm going to let this run for a while and update later. Hopefully .94 doesn't play the slow down game with me anymore as it use to after 4-6 hours of hashing. If it does I'll just fix it with a halt and a 2 min cool down every 6 hours which puts me back on a plane for hours.

Becoming less hostile to KNC by the share lol

Tongue

thanks again for sharing! I'm in your precise situation. to add some other info: I wasn't able to run my miners with .92 nor .93 due to very frequent cgminer restart so I sticked with 0.91 for quite a while. I've briefly use .94 and switch to .95 as soon as it was published.

One last question: On the "once" flaky die how many cores enabled do you have now ?

The die that came back was Die "1" on my slot 4, below is a current bertmod output of it. I have 12 other cores out across the other chips for 13 total now and usually they almost all turn on after 2 hours. I still have this damn power down slide after 6 hours but it slides only to 500 ghs in the five second instead of 440ghs or less as it use to before enablecores.bin usage.

(5s):541.7G (avg):519.5Gh/s NOW!

0.95 -> 0.96

8 VRM jupiter down from 530 GH -> 485 GH

wow, that is good to know.   I would think that anyone with full 8 VRM boards wouldn't bother going past .93 or .94 since those boards can handle it nicely.  Not sure if they will ever do specific tuning for 8 VRM boards (or even acknowledge they exist lol)

I saw .96 clean up two of my ASICs so they ran with no cores dropping, but I still had one board with lots of drops and that other board with the bad VRM that is either on with all cores or off with none (almost always off)

My VRM issue doesn't take the whole board down unless I run .93 or earlier firmwares, then FPGA errors are all over the place and make everything unusable.

Im done playing guinea pig for KNC I'm staying on .94 for now since I have 8 VRM and know they could give a shit less about us. Makes sense seeing the diff jump and the new ASIC guys charging forward with 0.6w per gh/s or less. KNC know their business is going to be over except for RMA and customer service by next year unless they decide to make a new better chip (not going to out do Cointerra). They just want to rake in what they can before this little game is up.

I adjusted now anyways to monitoring my newborn problem child and setting my alarm to wake me every 3 hours during the night to check it. If it blows up or I can't get back to where I am (ALMOST HAPPENED!) I'm out a lot of money so risk management says I stay put.

@Crypto_Cumbrian, try loading .95 again then doing a hard reset, reboot, then once again putting .95 this has worked with me on .94 and worked with .95 with others. Looks like you have a really bunk chip contact customer service they seem willing to work with people with REALLY bad chips. Also might try the above method with .96

im having a bit of trouble, if anyone could help me out.
cgminer doesnt seem to want to start when i try to connect to my eligius account. but starts up fine with other pools.
it has worked fine for a week now, but all of a sudden after i tried slushs pool for an hour, cgminer just hangs when i try to connect back to eligius. tried 50btc and thats working too. back at slush again for now.

any ideas, could it be some pool config file that got messed up somehow?
ive tried hard reset, and reinstalling firmware. nothing helps.
im not experienced with linux, but know enough to ssh in with putty and execute screen -r.
all i get when trying to connect to eligius is the cgminer startup screen with " starting cgminer 3.4.0"
and then nothing.

any help would be appreciated.

Whats happening is CGminer is putting http in front of the stratum address this is fixed by either

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 -u yourbitcoinaddy -p x

or add pool and use stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334

Just stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 in Web GUI.

Yes I see your point and may switch back now that I know to use port 3333 on 50btc, I'll see how that goes and give a shout back.

I just saw my avg on Eligius was better than 50btc so I switched, not to much deeper than that. The payouts are regular there and I'm holding it for a while anyways. I get when my machine is in a good mood (literally) it will get 475ghs+, other wise it's 465ghs+ on 50btc. Not huge but noticeable.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 16, 2013, 10:57:22 PM
50btc.com is my backup I find eligius is better I think I fixed something then one of the pools got messed up as I think Cg was putting eligius on http.
Edit: yea I guess I was on the wrong port / not stratum on 50btc... Thanks again

OMFG I HATE BITCOIN MING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's working again... this is one of the worst experiences ever! Im back in CGminer

I would hug each of you if I could thanks, sorry about my public panic attack

Crazy part is I'm not sure how I fixed it?

14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Miners - auto restart script on: October 16, 2013, 11:15:17 AM
I have a $5 tip for someone who gives me working script to reboot my jupiter every so many hours. Obviously it has to be run at startup and survive reboot. I have it on .91 with the reboot mod added.  Thanks

It would be a bonus if it could detect ghs drop for x seconds then reboot as well.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Miners - auto restart script on: October 16, 2013, 03:56:34 AM
I ran your 1st script btc_uzr got this
sh cgrestart.sh
cgrestart.sh: line 9: syntax error: unexpected "done" (expecting "then")
[1]+  Done(127)                  bash cgrestart.sh
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Miners - auto restart script on: October 16, 2013, 02:16:28 AM
Just restarting CGminer every so often is not bringing it back to life, it quickly loses ghs after 30min and disturbs so many cores it doesn't help. I need an auto reboot mechanism. What I need is a similar script in the init startup to reboot every 2 hours.

If anyone has suggestions
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Miners - auto restart script on: October 15, 2013, 11:20:14 PM
BUMP, this got lost in the mix there.

I'll try to play with this a bit and let you know.

Anyone have an ETA on .96 firmware? my Jupiter is not stable right now on any FW.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 15, 2013, 07:04:40 PM
O.K. Let's put this is a better perspective.

On the last day of September we all saw the video of them producing cards and boasting about the hashing power they had with that Jupiter.
We all heard them say that day one orders were being shipped "today" (which was that day in september), and day 2 would begin tomorrow.

We ALL breathed a sigh of relief. They seemed to have 2 weeks to produce the rigs, and none if us would have been pissed off if they took a day or two longer as long as they said that, and gave a reason. (they also said they had the capacity to do the production, 30 stations).

Even on that day, people saw what seemed to be evidence of a company that was trustworthy and capable of producing what they said. Given the choice, who would have cancelled their order? Not many because it seemed that things were going as planned give or take a day or so. No reason to worry.

Yet now they have gone into stealth mode, fucked up just about every aspect ssince and failed to deliver...idiots are on here saying people who didn't get rigs and aren't likely to for a while should have done better D and D ? Fact is, ORSOC did their part , they over delivered, they are engineers.
KnC are a marketing company, the everyday stuff was down to them. I can't think of a single thing they have done right. they made all the efforts of ORSOC worthless, and all our research too.

IF I knew I'd get my rig this week, I'd be a little miffed, but that's life and shit happens. As things stand I have zero information on when it may arrive, it may arrive at the same time as the 2nd batch which were a lot cheaper...which is ridiculous to expect me to be happy about isn't it?

Still they say nothing, treat us with contempt. Is that the way to improve customer satisfaction? Is that professional?

Unlike a lot of people here I don't get pleasure out of being flogged, I'm not masochistic at all. All I ask is for the same level of communication and respect they we all got from them BEFORE they had our money. I get that from every other company I deal with. If something is late, they apologise and explain why. It's good business. It's professional.
The reason that KnC haven't done this isn't because they are engineers, they aren't they are marketing men. Piss poor ones. !

I got mine. KNC is awesome.

Yea me too I only have to restart my jupiter every hour or so on .94 to keep it running above 400ghs... .95 is worse. .92 .93 don't run on my machine and .90 .91 crash and are unstable... got a bad chip too marked with "3" I'm sure they had something like bart mod to see that the "3" marked modules had an entire die out on each.

KNC awesome? I understand the sentiment that we got ours but many who do are not having fun either.

Where is KNC by the way they aren't saying squat anywhere, way to go supporting people with your $7200+ prototypes when they have problems... YEA I don't need another form letter saying your not working weekends to fix everything as fast as possible and you realize a lot of people are losing money, SLEEP! over these keeping them up and worry about losing a lot of cash. O yea .96! sure... I'll have my fire extinguisher at the ready.
