1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: March 02, 2018, 03:32:19 PM
Been away for a bit, happy to see we have some more blocks!  Thanks canaan x 2 and biffa!

I was crunching some numbers, and I joined this pool after we found block 504409 (our block # 2202).

Looking at the 44 days I have been mining in the pool, I have been a party to 7 blocks, with a cumulative difficulty of 1,453.543%, or roughly 207.649% per block.

If I am correct, statistically speaking, we were expecting to find about 14 blocks in that same time frame, but due to bad luck we found half of that.

So my question is, is that correct?  Am I reading and understanding the numbers properly?

Thanks in advance!

Do you think the reason it is taking longer for us to find blocks is because the number of bitcoin transactions are decreasing?

Take a look at this chart - https://blockchain.info/charts/n-transactions#

Or is this something that is unrelated, and just happens to be dropping at the same time?

There was a burst in number of daily transactions in January just around the time we had a burst in finding blocks.

Sorry for noob question, but it is my understanding that after 101 confirms the payout is made. However I have not received the payout from block 509166.

Should I have seen this payout by now? Is there somewhere to view payouts?

I know it does say 'a little time after it matures' but I am wondering what on average that is.

You can see the payouts you have earned here:  https://kano.is/index.php?k=payments

After 101 blocks, (and when Kano is not moving) then Kano puts in a very low cost transaction that sends us the coins we earned.   But right now he is moving so there is a temporary (less than a day) delay that he announce earlier today.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer A3 earning $500 a day mining SIAcoin . .WHAT?! Results & Stats on: February 15, 2018, 03:43:04 AM
So right now bitmain is selling them for $2375 which means 2375/30 = 80 days to roi. It still looks pretty good compared to gpus. If it crashes to $15 then it will take 160 days which is till better than gpu mining.
I think they are selling for $980 now, not $2375 anymore.

Hi all Smiley
I've been moving house and will have that 'finished' today (ignoring all the unpacking :p)
Anyway, as a result all my home servers are (still) awaiting me to set them up again.
As a result the 2nd last payout (509166) will be sent out late - but less than 12hrs late.
I may actuallt get it out on time (coz blocks are slow today) but in the case it's late - that's why.
As long as we can still find blocks, I don't think anyone is bothered by that.  Have fun moving!

Thank you 1BMpTDzWEs8Qc1oWP4JYtafuz4gZUf3kWq for the block!  My 4th block so far and we are moving in the right direction!   Let's keep 'em coming quickly!

Thank you cobramining for the block!   My 3rd block ever - things are speeding up and I like it.

All we need now is 10 quick blocks and then my luck will be in the positive!

Looking at the block statistics, https://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks

If I am reading it correctly, it appears that we have had bad Luck% for all the block ranges except the last 500 blocks and All blocks, both of which are less than 2% on the positive side; whereas the other block groups are all greater than 2% on the negative side.

Shouldn't it be more distributed if it is random, or is 2204 blocks still too low sample size?

Also, in regards to the Last 88 Blocks chart, is there a place to see those details for the last 2204 blocks?

Thanks!

15.06 vs 12.44 on the block size will cut the reward down substantially.   Right now blocks aren't in the "juicy" mode of fees so you have to crack more of them!

What causes the "juicy" mode of fees?  How can we get back to that?

Wonderful!  Thank you cryptostarusa for finding the block and thank you everyone for being so helpful!

This is my 2nd block ever!  Very excited.   1st block was 202.868% and 2nd block was 596.203%.    I hope that all the bad luck has cleared and only super fast blocks remain!

I have never seen numbers so big!

Shares:     16,481,016,828,586 (573.32%)

All we need is to crack 6 blocks in a row and then we will forget this ever happened.

The difficulty changed!  Here's to hoping we crack a block before 500% again!

The hashrate actually came back up a little bit. I’m hoping with the downward trend in the BTC price that difficulty will reverse at some point.

I don't see the hashrate being affected unless it is a prolonged (meaning 6 months + ) BTC price decline.   It has to be long enough to discourage people from buying more miners or unplugging / selling existing ones.

....
Well actually Smiley (no not the maths)
When you reboot a miner it gets a new unique number that's in the coinbase sig as I mentioned in that long post.
So it does actually change your hash results Smiley
Of course it's random ... but it does change it.

They way I look at it is there are two possibilities.   We get a block soon, and then we can feel validated that we did something to help.   We don't get a block soon, and then it doesn't matter.

Ahh, I don't know why.. but I am going to reboot my 7 S9's.   I did that before, and then the pool found a block..  I Know... its useless step, but I have a hunch...

Some have been up for 29 days.

I will sacrifice my .00001% of shares for this...  then you will see a block will be busted!

I rebooted mine earlier today for the same reason!

Will the reward be any higher than that of the previous blocks we found quickly? Like the 4 we found over 2 days.

Sadly, no.

When we eventually find a block, is the 5nd difficulty used the difficulty when we find the block, or the difficulty when we found the prior block, or something else?

For example, difficulty was 2.2T when we found the last block, and it is currently 2.6T, and probably rising to 2.8T soon.

There is a difficulty change coming up in about 34 hours.   https://diff.cryptothis.com/.

Newbie question. When a block is cracked did others in the pool directly share work to crack that block? I’m not sure if block mining is truly distributive, or statistically distributive, as in you only need one machine to find the block, and the more machines the quicker.

My understanding is that each machine is truly independent of each other.  The concern I have is that if you have two machines, I don't think they collaborate so they can actually waste effort by trying the same solutions that did not work.
