1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Bliss Devices Launch Announcement on: March 18, 2014, 08:43:27 PM
How can we trust you? Why would I put my money into your hand? Unless I can use my Visa, there is no way I am buying that. Why would you be afraid of people buying with their credit card anyway...
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Litecoin vs Doge vs Quark vs Peercoin vs Namecoin on: February 18, 2014, 02:46:48 AM
LTC - horrifically over-valued, long-term trend is down
Doge - in two years this will be passé, the teenagers will have found something else to have fun with
Quark - the speed and security will attract Joe Bloggs, massive growth at some point is likely.

LTC overvalued? on what basis? It was the first scrypt coin, so as BTC it is there to stay. Also, there is 8millions $ in transaction everyday and 80GH/s on the network. Quark is what, another scrypt based coin? with like 160k$ in transaction? and only 1 GH/s. I don't know which coin will be there in 10 years, but LTC will be rising for a long time... I don't see the point of speed before major adoption, and I don't see major adoption in the coming years. But we'll see.

I agree with you on DOGE thought, but for the moment to come, it is one of the best short term investment.

LTC was not the first scrypt coin and Quark is not a scrypt coin.

Bitcoin ASIC (SHA 256)
Litecoin GPU (scrypt)
Quark CPU (9 algos 6 hashes)

I read about Quark today. I agree I misjudged the coin. Also, let's say the first scrypt coin that hit major exchange... Tenebrix does not really count man.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 6 Crypto Currencies to Hold Long on: February 17, 2014, 04:36:36 AM
Hold Long means few years. I think most will be out then, so I would apply a safe bet strategy with a diversified amount at risk.

I would put 80% in BTC and LTC (maybe also in peercoin). The remaining 20% would probably be divided in more than 4 coins, but for the sake of OP's question here are my choices:

3-Dogecoin
4-Worldcoin
5-Diamond
6-Digitalcoin

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much will it be worth (mining rig) on: February 09, 2014, 05:10:25 PM
Thing is, I don't have a house yet. Therefore, I can modify the electrical circuit and so one of these rig draw almost the max power a normal circuit (15 amp) can support. That is, I can have both a rig running and an A/C in the same room.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much will it be worth (mining rig) on: February 06, 2014, 05:01:38 PM
Thanks to you all, that is actually helping me a lot with my decision. So as I understand, using the rig does not make its value decrease linearly. It will really depends on the profitability of the rig in April. I think my decision will be based on two things.

1-My expected profitability in the future
2-Can I get 3K for the rig
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much will it be worth (mining rig) on: February 02, 2014, 04:11:57 PM
That's a good estimation if scrypt alts are worth in April what they do now.

I would not hesitate myself to give you 1500€ (~$2000) in hand for your (I assume) 4 Mh/s rig, assembled, tested and working.

Sorry, forgot the most important part. The highest I can put the rig (stable) is 3620Kh/s on multipool or 3680Kh/s on WemineLTC. I have tried a lot of different configurations and over that level the system is unstable ( I hit 3.8Mh at top, but few minutes and it is down).
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How much will it be worth (mining rig) on: February 02, 2014, 03:56:30 PM
Hi, I predicted that I will no more be able to live in the room with my mining rig around April (temperature around 0 outside). Therefore, I am already looking for what I'll do then. I have three options:

  • Renting a location (friend, family) to put the miner at around 150$/month
  • Building a water cooling system with a window exaust (don't know how, but at least 800$)
  • Selling the mining rig

As you probably understood, I created this topic to try to put a price on my rig in April. Why so? Because if it is still worth a lot of money, this might be the solution I chose. I am still not a hard believer of the crypto, and I'll be happy leaving mining with a fair profit. I might comeback if I figure out how to create my FPGA based mining rig. So, here is the spec of my rig with a bonus picture:

Mobo: MSI Z77A-G45 ATX LGA1155 Z77 DDR3 3PC I-E16 4PC I-E1
GPU: 6 PowerColor PCS+ AX7950 3GBD5-2DHPP Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5
CPU: Intel Celeron G1620
Mem: 2 Viper Xtreme 1600Mhz, 2GB
PSU: 2 Corsair Professional HX850W 850W ATX 12V 70A 24PIN ATX Modular (Gold rated, plugped with Add2PSU)

It would comes with the custom case I built:

On the 15th of April the rig would have been running for 5 months. So, how do you think it will be worth (please, serious estimation)?
My estimation would be something between 1800$ to 3000$.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Canadian Tire coin to exchange on: January 20, 2014, 06:08:08 AM
Any money can be exchanged, except maybe for the cuban convertible peso, which is clearly not a real currency.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice please newbie alert!!! on: January 19, 2014, 05:31:07 PM
If you are new to mining, to fall in love with any coin. Most of them will die someday. So of course you could mine purely based on the difficulty, but it is way safer to mine the most profitable and autosell (maybe keeping a small percent).

Please stay away from NXT, RIPPLE and other not bitcoin alike crypto. These do not even follow the philosophy of cryptocurrency (especially Ripple, which is not decentralized).
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the hotest alt coin now? on: January 19, 2014, 05:25:54 PM
All launched coins follow the same pattern, constant drop after the initial launch. DOGE as recovered from its low, so it is well positioned to stay alive for a time (I wasn't a believer until this weekend). Moreover, a very healthy number of people are mining DOGE. On contrary to most other alt, the hashrate is rising. I will keep 25% of the Doge I mine from now on in case.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: COINYE Coin - Value's & Exchange on: January 08, 2014, 11:31:19 PM
I have about 400K coinye. I would exchange them for 0.4 BTC. PM if interested.

I can use Escrow or proceed with small amount.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Rankings: rank your top 10 cryptos! on: January 02, 2014, 06:54:04 PM
For now, I only believe long term on Bitcoin and Litecoin. The other I kind of like are:

1-Worldcoin
2-Diamond coin (I don't really know why)
3-Dogecoin (because it made me a lot of BTC/LTC)
4-Mooncoin (because I got 9 LTC from it in one day and a half)
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS/WTB] Mooncoin buy and sell Spreadsheet on: December 31, 2013, 04:42:17 PM
isn't this whole thread useless because of https://coinex.pw/trade/moon_btc ?

Agreed, but people will continue to try to get cheap coin or sell them at impossible price.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What the Fuck Is Nextcoin and how is this an Improvement in CryptoCurrency? on: December 31, 2013, 05:05:54 AM
From what I understand, NXT has nothing to do with the ideal promoted by the cryptocurrency. In fact, it seems it is exactly how the real money systems are working. A bank create money. Then, the one having the money can earn interest from it. It is just much more simple. But why in the hell I should buy NXT from its creators? To make them rich? The best scam ever. If they got all the NXT at the start and are just selling them (maybe I didn't understand that part, so please correct me if I am wrong), they are going to earn a lot of money simply from the interest and also from selling the NXT to poor guys that fall into the trap.

Imagine, It is like I create a new coin, premine it all, and I am selling it to you and earning interest from the transactions (since I am the biggest stakeholder, I earn a lot of interest).

Cryptocurrency is about to get remembered as one of the biggest scam in human history....
