1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: May 25, 2018, 05:31:15 PM
Has anyone tried putting the S9i firmware on a S9 yet?

I have definitely considered it, and I suspect it may work.  I'm not willing to take the risk yet.  Maybe after ROI

not checking bitmain website for sometime.

is this is the first batch of S9i? or did people received S9i before?

I want to know if there is any difference.

thanks.

I just got my "batch 1" S9i today.  It's essentially an S9.

Seriously?? S9i = S9 ??  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Wow, what a huge 'surprise'...

This guy bought an s9i and didn't even notice the difference. S9 (normal) had 14 TH for 1400w, the new one has 14 TH for 1300w. Not a big spike but really not exactly the same.

I actually installed a volt/amp/watt/kwh meter on the 30A outlet I use for my rack.  At the wall my 14 TH S9 pulls 1487W and my 14TH S9i pulls 1429W.  While my S9i is negligibly more efficient, it's within what I would expect to be the normal variability and a particular S9 could easily be more efficient than a particular S9i.

Yep /s.  It's what I expected.  No idea why they made a revision to the model number.

If you are having difficulties doing it please prepare PC with Team viewer which can access your miner via ssh. I will do rest for you.

Just a note for clarity that you do need to make the change to all 3 instances or the miner will not operate properly.
Yes that is true all miners need to be changed. Otherwise you are risking to loose a DOGE if a particular "unchanged" miner finds a block.

I couldn't get it to mine at all when I tried to mix match configurations between the three.  Once I set them all to your updated syntax, no problems.
