I just got my "batch 1" S9i today.  It's essentially an S9.

mining is becoming more and more difficult... profitability is going down...my farm revenue almost halved in the last 3 month.

This is what I've been saying all along since February, 2016.  I bought 42 x Bitmain S7's in 2015 and sold them in February, 2016 when I saw the writing on the wall.  I realized it's a hopeless effort to compete against the manufacturers of ASIC's.  I've been in the game since the S1.

Many "newbies" are about to learn the hard way [Just as I did] when purchasing the new Z9.  Hence, my advice given in other forums on the Z9.  BITMAIN, does NOT have your best interest at heart.  My opinion.

Bitmain, Cannon and the rest build miners for one reason, to make money.  Then again, every company builds things to make money.  None of them have our best interest at heart, they are all in it for the money.

ROFL...  Sounds like FPGA's and GPU's are the way to go for now.  Especially, FPGA's.

Buying ASIC"s specific to one thing is only limiting one's self.

EDIT:  After further discussion with Phillipma, I've come to agreement with him ASIC's and FPGA's are "NOT" the answer.  Software, is the answer to bring ASIC, FPGA and GPU on an even plain field.

Once they get them out in mass I agree.

Woo Hoo!!!  Like I said before, I have had GPU rigs, and ASICs.  Problem I have is I like to turn and burn them.  I still have 1 small GPU rig running (4 290X's).  I'm waiting for my X9s to come in.  Run them for a while and flip them.  And yes, I have a collection of doorstops as well.  4 Gridseed blades stacked up on the desk.  They are 5 years old and have ROI'ed many times over.

Yep /s.  It's what I expected.  No idea why they made a revision to the model number.

Hi Bitmain,

XVG just got hacked again. It is a 600million mkt cap coin, This is the 2nd hack. It is probably due to someone gaining 51% hashrate again. Perhaps can approach XVG to develop an ASIC with it. Win-win situation yes? A new product is created. Miners hopefully can make profit.... and XVG gets the security they need. Otherwise, there will be a 3rd hack lol

Does bitmain read these posts hmmm

Selling 100 dollar coupons (8units expire 11th June, 14 units expire 1st july) and 125 dollar coupon (2 unit exp 30th June). Selling at 20% of value

BITMAIN and it's ASIC"s are not the answer to decentralized mining.

I've had my R9 380's mining since mid 2016 and STILL making a profit.  My R9 380 rigs are making more profit after power costs than your Bitmain S9's.  My R9 380's have ROI'ed 4 or 5 times over compared to your S9's.

In the meantime, BITMAIN manipulates the speculation markets (exchanges) with the majority control of coins they mine annually.  They're currently putting the squeeze on all S9 owners by continuing to dump on the market.  They're doing the same with Litecoin and L3's.  Bitcoin is going down to around $5,380 before you see any reprieve.  Then it won't be long before the announcement of a new ASIC to begin the BITMAIN illusion once again.

Most of you with more than 3 or 4 BITMAIN S9's are more than likely having to pay for your power costs as you mine.  Not many have the capital to mine with more than 3 or 4 x S9's.  They're mining to more or less break even now; while claiming they're doing a service to the network and keeping it secure.  Believe me, BITMAIN has enough ASIC"s in their warehouses to keep the network secure from governments.  How about keeping it secure from themselves?

In the meantime, Bitmain sells another ASIC (the S9i) as if there's something different and/or better with it compared to previous S9's and the BITMAIN illusion continues to deceive those gullible enough to continue in their insanity once again.

Those of you who paid top dollar for the S9 in December and January are beginning to wonder if my assessment is correct now, aren't you?

This guy bought an s9i and didn't even notice the difference. S9 (normal) had 14 TH for 1400w, the new one has 14 TH for 1300w. Not a big spike but really not exactly the same.

No because most of what you say is misinformed and ignorant.

Ill put any thousand of my S/T9s against your dumpy lil GPU rigs and we can compare profits.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

I actually installed a volt/amp/watt/kwh meter on the 30A outlet I use for my rack.  At the wall my 14 TH S9 pulls 1487W and my 14TH S9i pulls 1429W.  While my S9i is negligibly more efficient, it's within what I would expect to be the normal variability and a particular S9 could easily be more efficient than a particular S9i.

They're mining to more or less break even now
Even now a good S9 is still mining .025 BTC/mo, on electricity near .005 per month. If you have antminer s9 being C$1400 and psu at C$85 that means ROI just in last 180 days.

Ignore scammers on Skype, Telegram, etc. I will only ever contact you via forum PMs. See profile for fingerprint.
